Sunday - Sayonara, You Still Suck!

Everyone knows Sunday gets the short end of the con report stick.  Anyone knows that Sunday of a con is the most laid back and hectic day of the con.  It's laid back because everyone just wants to sleep in and shake off their hangovers from the Saturday night partying, but at the same time, they've got to beat the check-out time.

Fortunately, I had a Monday morning check-out.  Unfortunately, I woke up dehydrated and with a bit of a headache - but I drank and drank lots of fluids last night!  Oh wait... that was alcohol, which is apparently "not good."

Art and I made our way down to the lobby and found an abundance of people in line for the front desk, ready to GTFO.  My room had recieved a note last night asking us that if we were to check out Sunday morning, that we could do it via phone.  Artful quipped that, "They know it's going to be a madhouse tomorrow, so they're just saying: Get out, we don't even need to see you to get it done."

Once again, the blessings of a Monday morning check out.

We checked out the dealer's room and Artists' Alley area, scouting for an artist with a good style.  We realized a bit too late that the other half of the internet group would be quite late considering that they were also checking out, then had a charity auction, Eyeshield 21 photoshoot, and then plane to catch.  Eventually, Art and I settled on the artist Pudding/Purin of Toasted Kitty Studios.  She was willing to take the commission up for $5, which was a steal considering last year's portrait.

Nonetheless, the group portrait is a nice little tradition I'd like to uphold.

Finally, the tardy two caught up with us.  With a quick snapshot of us together, the four of us were off for some... "brunch."

Brunch was a bit more relaxed and although I was still feeling the effects from last night, that didn't stop me from recording an update.

There was a charity auction going on in an hour, Artful and I were going to stay in the dealer's room and check out all of the "we don't want to haul this shit back in the van" sales.

As it came down to the wire, we escorted Chromus and Adam back to the entrance.  Along the way, we stopped by Toasted Studio's table to check up on progress and give one more shout-out to the internet.

With that, we parted ways and hoped to meet up before Chromus could catch his plane and "go back to B" - Britain, that is.

Time was killed in the dealer's room.  And it was cool to catch a few last minute cosplayers.  Sadly, I didn't get any more on Sunday, so I'm going to fall back on showing off pictures of previous cosplayers from the other days.

An awesome monster costume.

Adam, shame on you for not posting this pic in your report.

And my report wouldn't be complete without a Yomiko cosplayer!

A shirt full of 4chan memes...

And here's what's under that shirt.

Double dose of Haaaaard-o Gaaaaay!  WHOOO!

I tagged along with Art as he showed me the booths where his favourite webcomic artists were.  Then we stopped by to see professional artist David K. Wong - who has a very impressive style and resume.  He's got a lot of professional grade art, not just relegated to anime illustrations, but also comic book illustrations!  Anyone who recalls watching last year's con video, Artful showed off a Spiderman poster along with his swag - this man was the artist of that illustration.  And he was a laugh riot.

Then back into the shopping fray!

Finally, we made our last pass of Toasted Kitty Studios.  Purin was finishing up!

Happy with the work (and because we felt kinda bad giving her $5 for such a nice picture), we paid her handsomely for her services.  Plus, she got 3rd place in the Iron Artist competition, so that added value to the picture.

We'd caught up with Chromus and Adam after their Eyeshield 21 photo love-in and showed off our portrait (which was indeed very very spiffy) and take one last video update for the road.

Cutting out early and skipping the closing ceremonies and year-end bitchfest, that was it for ACen.  Maybe next year I'll be blogging from ACen, or maybe an entirely different convention. Either way, I know it'll end up the same way: I'll have a lot of fun, but have a hard time remembering anything.
