CHAPTER 3: THE FORCING WATERS

‘No clue, no code, no fancy little countdown…’ Jeremy Irons, ‘Simon’: Die Hard with a Vengeance

….just getting straight into it. No-one really reads these things do they?

7.14am, Day 7

(Misato: The trek back from Tribal Council last night was one of relief and peace. However, this morning, some people of the Helang Tribe have to think about what happened last night.)

(Shot of Nene making a fire and Akane going up to her)

Akane: Close call last night.

Nene: Yeah, I was surprised that they didn’t target me. I guess those kids kept their promise.

Akane: They made me sweat a bit though.

(Nene: Last night, I felt sure that I’d get the two votes from Jubilee and Genki. It seems that they have targetted Akane because of her leadership skills. However, I think Jubilee knows she is in trouble now.)

(Misato: Jubilee is indeed the one who is doing the most thinking now.)

(Inside the tent, Jubilee has her shades on, her luxury item, lying down sunbathing in a way. Gohan and Gary have gone to get some water and some mud, Sakura is busy fixing the net with Vivi’s help.)

Jubilee: O.K, let’s try again. Me and Genki voted for Akane. 4 people voted for Genki, 2 of them certain to be Akane and Nene…which means that 2 of the kids voted for Genki and 2 voted for me. That means that 2 may not be in an alliance, or they could have voted just for hating Genki. That means I can get the 2 that voted for me on my side…but they voted for me so they probably want to do it again unless I prove myself…ARGGGH! I’M SO CONFUSED!

(Jubilee: Last night was a surprise in a way. Not that Genki was voted off but that it was split and that I got a couple of votes. Whilst Genki and I were showing Akane is a threat, it seemed that two of the kids I guess had the same idea, unless Akane and Nene voted for me instead and the kids turned on mass against Genki. Which means I could still survive.)

(Misato: At the water hole, Gary is collecting mud whilst at a nearby fern, Gohan is at the water hole.)

Gary: This is gonna be a mess.

Gohan: Hey, we’ve both got spikey hair, we should be used to it by now.

Gary: Yeah. I think our plan worked last night. Jubilee doesn’t have a clue what’s going on it seems.

(Gary: Last night, Sakura came up with the plan that Gohan talks to Vivi and that he and Vivi vote for Genki, whilst me and Sakura vote for Jubilee. That way, no matter whoever Nene and Akane vote for, one of them is gone and it doesn’t seem like an alliance is going on.)

Gohan: Yeah. Maybe we should intentionally lose the next challenge so that we can get Jubilee off as well.

Gary: Why Gohan, that’s a bit evil…although it does offer some possibilites.

(Both head back to camp)

(Sakura and Vivi at the net)

Sakura: I’m glad you’re on our side Vivi.

Vivi: Yeah, I probably would have preferred to have left, but for the fact that you guys care about me made it enough to stay.

Sakura: Yeah, (hugs Vivi) we won’t abandon you man.

Vivi: Thank you. (reworks the nets as Nene starts to cook some rice)

Ulah Tribe: 8.45am

(Misato: Ulah’s unity was one last night but today is another day, and the hostility between two of the camp members continues to arise.)

Tenchi: Are you O.K Davis?

Davis: (looking a bit cold) Yeah…

(Tenchi: Last night, as we were asleep and there was no storm so Duo didn’t have to stay watch, apparently Davis started snoring. I was really tired so I didn’t hear, but apparently Serena did. Serena then woke us up with bawling at Davis, and in another testament to our new found friendship in Davis, Davis volunteered to sleep outside away from the camp by the trees.)

(Duo: Serena was being a b*tch last night. She had no regard last night what could have happened to Davis. There are snakes, rats, insects some are poisionous, it was extremely dangerous for Davis and Serena basically intidimating him out of the camp was outrageous.)

Tenchi: (wraps a blanket around Davis) Keep warm. I know it’s hot out here, but pal, you need it.

Davis: Thanks man.

(Serena comes out of the camp, the last one out. Chun-Li and Julia are doing their exercises, Duo and Shinji have gone to get the water as Tenchi and Davis are doing the cooking)

Serena: Morning, did you sleep well?

(Silence)

Serena: (honestly not having a clue) What?

Davis: If you don’t mind Tenchi, I’d like to jog around for a while.

Tenchi: Sure, I can finish here. (Davis nods and goes off on a run)

Serena: Why the silent treatment here?

Tenchi: I dunno.

Serena: You dunno?

Tenchi: (angry) If you don’t know what you’ve done and indeed what you could have done, then how can I know what you’ve done?

Serena: Pardon?

Tenchi: (gives up) Gahh…all I can say is apologise to Davis.

Serena: (now shocked) Apologise to Davis…WHAT IN THE HELL FOR?

Tenchi: Does the word ‘survivor’ mean anything to you?

Serena: Yeah…

Tenchi: …well last night Davis could have been an ex-survivor thanks to you. (Tenchi walks off, Serena looking at him stupidly)

Serena: What in the hell is he on about?

* * * *

(11.15am.)

(Misato: Soon the tribes will compete for their second reward challenge. Both tribes are starting to show cracks in their armor, and there has even been talk of throwing challenges away. For now, the group must bond, and prepare themselves for an underwater challenge.)

Helang tribe shot: We see Sakura in the sea with the net with help from, Gary and Akane pulling in some fish.

Sakura: That’s it!

(Back on the beach, Nene, Jubilee, Gohan and Vivi are pulling it in with some rope, got from the ship when they first came here)

Gary: I think a good meal is what we need before a reward challenge…

(We see 4 fish flapping)

Akane: ….I think this will do. Anyone know how to make sushi?

Nene: Sure!

(Nene starts preparing, with occassional help from Gary and Sakura.)

Gary: Time to fill ‘em up.

(The gang enjoy a small meal as they prepare for the challenge)

Nene: I think this is just what we needed before the reward challenge, good on you guys for fixing the net.

Vivi: No problem. (begins to dig in)

Jubilee: I didn’t think a mage needed that much food!

Vivi: Learn something new every day don’t we?

(A shot of Gohan, Sakura and Gary hiding a small smile after that indirect statement about what happened last night as Jubilee looks confused)

(Ulah tribe shot)

(Davis is back now, looking a little worse for wear. Chun-Li sees this and goes up to him)

Chun: Are you O.K?

Davis: Yeah, just needed to work out my system…I’ll be O.K after I rest.

Chun: Be careful though as we’ve got a reward challenge coming up, if they only need 6 people, you can sit this one out O.K, I’ll tell the rest.

Davis: (smiles) Thanks.

(Davis: I’ve wondered if I could survive this game. I am not as old or physically strong as some of the others and yes, not as smart true, but I’ve got the heart of a champion, and despite everything I’ve done, my friends back home is my main memory to lift my spirits. Not just Kari, but Ken, Yolei, T.K, Cody, Tai, Matt, Michael, all of the digidestined.)

(Shot of Shinji, Duo, Julia and Tenchi in some form of meditation. A half-eaten bowl of rice is by the floor)

(Tenchi: The 4 of us do this before almost any challenge, like a ritual. It’s relaxation and part of a plan as well. Chun-Li is not participating so it doeasn’t seem like there is 5 of us in the alliance. Also…)

(Duo: …it is getting harder and harder to dislike Davis. He is energetic and a bit annoying, but there is a deeper side to the kid as well. He seems to be getting stronger from his experience more than anyone here, and has adapted fairly well. We’re just gonna have to wait and see.)

(Serena: Damn, this is boring.)

(2.00pm.)

(Misato: On a long stretch of beach aside the ocean, the two tribes of 7 people meet outside for their second reward challenge. This one will test their speed, strength and endurance here, as well as their now much needed teamwork.)

Misato: Welcome, Helang and Ulah tribes. Now, 14 of you remain on the island, and things are starting to get more used to in this cycle. However, on this cycle, problems occur and here, we see who can get through those problems in the best way. Today’s challenge is about your physical stength (a few groan, mainly Nene) and endurance.

(Shot of the sea, where there are two small platforms and a trunk on each one)

Misato: Out into the sea, there are two trunks. The task seems simple. You must swim out to the trunk, all the survivors must get to the island before you grab and collect the trunk and swim back. Very simple.

(Groans are collected here)

Misato: Now, although there is an even team, we are gonna make things more interesting by asking you to remove one team member for now, so it will be 6 on 6. Discuss who that will be and your strategies.

(Ulah tribe)

Serena: I reckon it should be…

Everyone else: Davis.

Serena: Dav…huh, you’re agreeing with me? Yay!

Tenchi: Trust me Serena. We’re doing this for way different reasons for why you want Davis not on.

Serena: Er…O.K?

(Helang)

Jubilee: I think Nene.

Akane: Why?

Jubilee: She was the one that cost us last time, she seems weaker.

Akane: And what did you do last challenge?

Jubilee: Hey, now that’s…

Nene: It’s O.K, I’ll stop. I’m not a fast swimmer anyway.

Gary: Are you sure Nene?

Nene: Yeah, just kick butt out there.

(Back at stage)

Misato: I see that Davis and Nene have been seen as expendable today…

Davis/Nene: HEY!

Misato: …so survivors get into your positions.

(The 12 get ready, a few looking nervous)

Misato :…GO!

(The 12 get in as they judge the distance and start swimming.)

(Misato: The 12 of them each have a problem as they can’t start until the slowest person arrives, which was why it was important to choose their weak link in this case.)

(Early case shows Gohan in the lead. However, despite this, the Helang tribe are in a bit of trouble. As the next four members closing in are all from Ulah, as Tenchi, Duo, Julia and Serena are behind them. Next is Sakura, then Shinji, then Chun-Li. Gary and Jubilee are next, and trailing at the end are Akane and Vivi.)

(Misato: Despite Gohan’s lead, it is obvious that Ulah have the advantage)

(Gohan reached the base well ahead of the rest, but sees the pack and groans. Duo reaches Ulah’s first, and Tenchi, Julia and Serena soon join him. Shinji overtakes Sakura at the end as 5 of Ulah just wait for Chun-Li to finish which she does. The 6 decide now on their action.)

Duo: Me and Tenchi will take the bottom, it’s where the most weight is.

Julia: Shinji and I will take the sides…

Chun-Li: …whilst me and Serena will push from behind.

Duo: Let’s go!

(They start as Davis is cheering.)

(Meanwhile, Gary has just made it as Jubilee, Akane and Vivi are struggling.)

Gohan: Come on guys, you can do it!

(They eventually make it, but quite exhausted)

Akane: I’m sorry, I guess my swimming still isn’t that good.

Jubilee: Never mind that, how are we gonna do this?

Gohan: I can hold the thing from the bottom on my own if you want, the others can push it round the edges.

Gary: What if you lose too much air?

Gohan: Don’t worry, I’ll be fine, let’s go!

(Gohan using his superior strength advantage, goes underwater to take the blunt of the weight and water’s waves compared to the quick change that Duo and Tenchi do. The other 5 surround the trunk and push it, swimming as best as they can. Nene looks on worried.)

Nene: Even with Gohan’s strength, he can’t stay underwater forever. The other team are much more well rounded in strength.

(Indeed, Nene’s theory is true. The fact that the 6 of the team are quite even in terms of atheltic ability are what helps the team as they are quite well ahead of the team despite Gohan’s best efforts. In the end, it is really a one horse race as Ulah make it before Helang even make it half-way.)

(As Ulah come in, still with the trunk, they start celebrating. In the sea, Gohan comes up for air to see the sight. He groans, and is about to drop the trunk…)

Misato: Hey, don’t drop it, those things cost you know!

(Sighing, Helang resolve in pushing the trunk back to the land. They do it half-heartingly though as Ulah continue celebrating.)

Misato: Congratulations Ulah, you win the reward and your third challenge in a row. Smash the lock and you’ll receive your reward.

(Duo uses a nearby rock to smash the lock and they open it with a smile. It is fishing equipment, scuba gear, spears, a knife, a net, the usual stuff.)

Shinji: Fish for supper…yay!

Misato: Congratulation guys, Helang, maybe you should have a think about what went wrong, and prepare for tomorrow’s immunity challenge.

(Both tribes start walking back to their camps, Helang dejected, Ulah elated.)

* * * *

3.07pm.

(Misato: Helang are taking their loss rather heavily. Although fishing isn’t so much of a problem for them, the fact that they were beaten so convicingly is worrying members of the tribe.)

Gary: We couldn’t just rely on Gohan here. It was our fault, we should have discussed this further.

Nene: I think if even I had replaced either Akane or Vivi it wouldn’t have mattered. They were the much better team and I wouldn’t have been much faster, trust me.

(Shot of Akane who has a sleeping Gohan on her lap)

Akane: He’s exhausted. I guess he really put his effort into that. (solemn) I’m sorry to the poor kid that we couldn’t help much.

Sakura: I guess the only good thing that came out of it is that we really need to improve for the next challenge…

Jubilee: …yeah, we don’t want to be another member down.

(Vivi: This is the downside of everything. Everytime you lose, morale goes down and we’ve lost three in a row, we really need to pick up for the next time.)

(Sakura: The fact that the other team are so much more well rounded in atheltic ability and seemingly tactics, it shows we’ve got a lot of catching up to do.)

(Akane: Today, I showed a major weakness. Up until now I’ve been seen as the leader, a strong backbone for the team. But today, I showed that I can be a problem with my poor swimming. It seemed that Gohan is the only one who can physically be our main weapon in all tasks, and we don’t want the poor kid to be the one who takes the brush of the punishment.)

* * * *

Ulah tribe

(Misato: Immediately after winning the reward challenge, the Ulah tribe decide to put their new playtoys a test drive.)

Davis: O.K, the net’s hanging in! (Wearing the scuba gear) Time to go fishing!

Shinji: O.K, we’ll real in some and you start swimming!

(Davis nods and dives in with a spear. Shinji, Duo and Tenchi are pulling on the net they have as Davis is going deeper)

(Underwater, Davis is looking like he’s having the time of his life, and catches a manta ray quite well. Lifting it up, the Ulah tribe cheer)

Julia: 2 rays, and 5 fish, 1 seems to be a shark…we’ve even caught a snake.

(Shot of a small snake, looking like it’s dripping venom, it is dead though.)

Chun-Li: I think we can get rid of that, but the rest is for a victory meal. Good job guys!

Duo: (mockingly bows) I thank you all good ladies, now let’s enjoy the feast!

(And indeed they do, the atmosphere is much more relaxed now, even Serena is more open and enjoying it.)

(Davis: I gotta thank the guys for letting me sit that one out, they worked really well together. To pay them back, I volunteered to go fishing in the deep waters…I think that as the youngest now, I am in a bit of trouble to possibly getting voted off as I am not as strong as anyone else here, so I have to get my butt in gear.)

(Julia: The workload is mostly shared on our tribe. We noticed that in how we beat the other tribe.)

Serena: We beat them quite convincingly didn’t we?

Duo: Yeah, it was like they didn’t have a chance.

Shinji: I do feel a bit sorry for them. (everyone looks at him strangely) Well, I do!

Chun-Li: Poor Shinji, always feeling for others aren’t ya?

Davis: Hey, it doesn’t matter, we’re hungry, we won, we eat. Simple?

Tenchi: Simple. (Eats another sample of fish) This is good, my compliments to the cooks.

Shinji/Julia: Thank you.

(Shinji: Everything is starting to go into place now, and we are confident of winning any challenge.)

The night falls…

(Misato: Night time falls upon the two tribes, the blankets are out, no storm approaching tonight, and all is well. However, new developments upon this Survivor chapter start this night.)

(Ulah tribe shot: We see Chun-Li, Serena sleeping around the corner, Serena with something as a blindfold. Duo is sleeping fairly comfortably as is Davis, surprisingly not snoring. Shinji is taking up a bit of room, but there is no Julia or Tenchi.)

(Shot outside, and through night-cam we see the two fairly close to each other underneath a tree, a large blanket around them. Julia seems to be asleep.)

(Tenchi: What happened that night was that room was getting worse, surprisingly Shinji was the main problem moving about so I decided to see if I can sleep outside. I was going to construct a sort of mini-camp, but…)

(Julia: …I heard something outside. I’m never a heavy sleeper so I got up and saw Tenchi looking like he preparing to sleep outside. I joined him and asked about why. He told me about the lack of room, and normally he isn’t that bothered. However…)

(Tenchi: …that night I was really starting to miss home. And I wanted to keep my thoughts on them, but when Julia appeared, that changed.)

(Julia: I stayed to keep him company, and soon, we were wrapped around a blanket, and cuddling. But…)

(Tenchi: …it’s nothing like that. Me and Julia have a lot in common, and besides, she already has a love interest back at home. And with a number of females trying to go after me back home…urgh, the last thing I need is them trying to kill Julia. However…)

(Julia: …me and Tenchi get along so well, it was almost like we were seperated at birth. Our closeness is more of a brother/sister bond rather than a lover’s one. Still, it felt kinda nice…)

* * * *

Helang tribe

(Misato: As a new development…er, develops on Ulah, Helang’s recent sleeping arrangement has made at least one person think about what is missing from their life.)

(Outside, we see a figure looking out into the ocean. From the night cam, we can establish it is Gary.)

Gary: Hmm….

(Gary: I have really been thinking about my life since the Pokemon League. Yes, inside of me is still a strong trainer, some people call that arrogance, but I’ve been hiding that part inside me for the duration of this game. Now…)

(Shot of tent, everyone seems comfortable.)

(Gary: I’ve…never really had any friends…not since Ash anyway, until when we…or should I say I went my separate way…(seems trying to hide tears)…being on the island has made me wish I want to change myself.)

(Gary heads back to the tent)

(Gary: Gohan is a very respected world warrior, Akane is very popular at her school, as is Sakura who I’ve bonded with so well it’s scary. Nene is part of an elite group, as is Jubilee and Vivi. Myself, I’ve been on my own too long.)

(Shot of Gary entering the camp, before sighing and going back to his space, careful not to wake up anyone.)

(Gary: I want that to change.)

* * * *

Day 8: 6.56am.

(Misato: The morning of the immunity challenge, and the survivors have to get their wits on them if they want to survive another 3 days on the island.)

(Shot of Ulah tribe, and Duo is the first up.)

Duo: Eh…first up…feh, best get the food cooking…what?

(Duo spots Julia snuggling up to Tenchi, both still seem to be asleep.)

Duo: Well I’ll be damned. (smiles) Good on ya Tenchi. (Starts checking the rat traps as at that moment, the sun hits Tenchi’s eyes and he starts waking up. Duo notices the movement.) So, all those girls back home aren’t enough for you…

Tenchi: You’re lucky I’m still half asleep otherwise a rock would be heading your way.

(Duo laughs as Tenchi holds Julia in a steady position so she doesn’t fall and begins to help make the fire.)

Tenchi: Nothing happened.

Duo: What?

Tenchi: Before you ask, nothing happened. She just wanted to keep me company. (sighs) I’m kinda homesick in a way, it’s a bit surprising how much you miss all the screaming, cooking and karaoke back home.

Duo: Heh. I wish I could say the same.

Tenchi: Yeah, you don’t talk about yourself that much.

Duo: (sighs) I don’t really have a home as such, as a Gundam pilot, it is more of a warriors code more than anything. Thanks to people like my friends Quatre and Hilde, even Wufey and Heero to some extent, it’s made things more easier to cope with.

Tenchi: I think I understand.

(Tenchi: Duo is a deep person. Like Davis, on the outside, he’s this happy-go-lucky, sometimes cocky young man, but inside, there is more troubling him than I could expect.)

(The fire starts and Julia starts to wake. She looks around to where she is, then remembers what happened last night. She blushes slightly and goes to the two boys.)

Julia: Everything that went on last night Tenchi, tell lies, you got that?

Tenchi: Yes dear. (all three burst out laughing, which brings out Davis and Shinji.)

Davis: (yawns) I hate waking up early.

Shinji: And once again I’m foiled in my attempt to stay on the island, that is cooking. Damn you guys!

(Chun and Serena also come out, as Duo pulls out just the one rat.)

Chun: The buggers never want to come out for you to catch, but they like bugging you all night long.

Duo: Hey don’t worry, we’ve got the fishing gear now, so hopefully, we can supplement this rat with a bit of fish and some rice.

Serena: Just wish we had more strawberries…

Tenchi: Sorry, we finish the last few in our celebration, maybe a reward soon will be to build an ice-cream stand or a soda bar soon…

Serena: Yay!

Helang tribe

(Misato: The atmosphere is pumped up as almost one at a time, each member of Helang exit their camp, and start preparing dinner. They know what’s at stake today, they can’t afford another defeat.)

Gohan: Is everyone O.K?

Sakura: (looking up from gutting a rat) Yeah I think so, what about you? You were exhausted after last night, are you O.K?

Gohan: Yeah, I’m used to this by now.

Sakura: No, it was our fault, we shouldn’t have relied on you too much, Gohan, I don’t care what the challenge is today, you’re gonna take it easy O.K?

Gohan: (smiles) Yes, maam! (Note to self, I don’t think I should encur the wrath of any girl in general)

Sakura: Good boy, let’s roast ‘em up. (winks at Gohan as the two start working together.)

(Gary is busy washing up some of their clothes whilst Vivi is trying his hand at fishing.)

Gary: Hey Vivi?

Vivi: Yep.

Gary: I know how you feel at times, you know, about being alone in the world.

Vivi: Yeah…

Gary: To be honest, for a long time, I’ve been a loner. On my own, with no-one but paid cheerleaders to boost my ego. But recently, I’ve been going through a turn for the better, and being here has been a really help.

Vivi: I know what you mean. I was scared that people would reject me for who or what I am. But now I know it is who you are that’s important, who you are on the inside.

Gary: You’ve got a good heart Vivi. I don’t think we’ll abandon you here…

Vivi: Thanks!

(Akane + Nene joins up with Gary and Vivi, and help with the pulling of the net)

Akane: Guys, you O.K?

Gary: We are now. (a sly smirk as Akane smiles)

Akane: Behold my luxury item! (You guessed it, her anime mallet)

Gary: Er…I’ll be good!

Nene: O.K, enough clowning around, let’s get some food on the grill. Sakura and Gohan are cooking up some rice and rat and Jubilee has gone to get some water…

(Shot to where Jubilee is, gathering water and is struggling to bring it back.)

Jubilee: I’m doing this to show that I’m not useless…plus the fact it’ll take me a while to get back…

(Back to camp)

Nene: You know…(looks slyly at Gary for a moment before continuing…) those two together look pretty cute.

Gary: (turns) Who?

(Nene points in the direction where Gohan and Sakura are talking, well, Gohan is talking and Sakura is giggling)

Nene: Those two, I mean they have a lot in common with each other, they looks so kawaii there, I dunno, it seems they belong together.

(Gary seemingly looks a bit frozen for a second, blushes, and regains composure.)

Gary: I guess…

Akane: Heh. Don’t get embarrassed Gary. (winks at him) We understand.

(Gary blushes realising he took the bait, as even Vivi realises what’s going on and snickers if it’s possible for a mage to snicker)

Gary: Oh boy…

(12.00pm)

(Misato: The groups are about to prepare to go to the beach for their next immunity challenge. And things are being discussed…just in case…)

Ulah

(The Famous 5, ala, the group which cost B.B.Hood meet up together in the tent.)

Shinji: I don’t think he realises.

Julia: If we lose, it makes things a lot more easier.

Chun: That’s a big if. We’ve been kicking butt.

Tenchi: It makes us much better as well.

Duo: Just keep it in mind.

Helang

Jubilee: (to Sakura and Gohan) I honestly think that Akane is the weakest here. I’m sure it was Nene and her who voted for me last night and the 4 of you voted for Genki right.

Gohan/Sakura: Er…I think. (technique known as ‘lying through your teeth’)

Jubilee: Listen, if we lose, we need to take out one of those two, they can be quite dangerous I think.

Gohan: Yeah, but that’s if we lose, I think we’re being a bit pessimistic here.

Sakura: Gohan’s right, let’s wait after the challenge.

(Whilst Jubilee’s back is turned, Gohan and Sakura both put a hand behind their back, and put their thumbs down. Gary notices this and smiles.)

Gary: I think Jubilee is trying to sweet talk Gohan and Sakura. But they’re too smart for that it seems…

Vivi: Good. She still doesn’t know what happened at the last council?

Nene: I don’t think so. I’m still angry for her plotting last night..

Akane: Hey, I was the one that was voted against? You guys had me sweating buckets last time!

(All giggle)

Gary: Not to worry, I think this time, if we lose, you’re safe.

* * * *

2.00pm.

(Misato: After the long trek, they need to have some reserve in their body for this immunity challenge.)

Misato: Welcome survivors. Today is of course the all-important immunity challenge which ensures survival for another 3 days. After tonight, one of the two tribes will have to visit tribal council for the second time, and we will have lost a 3^rd person out of 16.

(Misato shows the sea, where there is a buoy and a canoe. I think veterans of Survivors will know where this is going, but I’ll continue.)

Misato: This is a relay type challenge involving all team members this time. One person will swim out to the buoy where at the bottom there is a bottle. This person will swim to the canoe, where two people will canoe to the beach where you will open the bottle, and inside is a map. One of you will then run into the jungle with directions from the map to find a key. You will then return and using the map you will find a treasure chest. The remaining members plus the canoers and if they make it swimmers must then dig to find the chest. Whoever finds and opens the chest first wins immunity. Got that?

All: Yeah.

Misato: Now, huddle together so you can decide who does what.

Ulah

Tenchi: O.K, this is tough. Who does what?

Julia: Duo was the strongest swimmer last time, maybe he should take the swimming leg.

Duo: I dunno, I’d probably be better at the running…

Tenchi: …although I’m good at navigation…on second thought, yeah Duo you do the running.

Julia: I’ll take the canoeing…

Chun-Li: …I’ll join you.

Shinji: Serena, how about you take the swimming?

Serena: Er…sure.

Davis: Which leaves me, Shinji and Tenchi for digging. O.K, that’s fine.

Tenchi: Let’s make it four in a row people.

Helang

Vivi: Gohan should dig, he needs a bit of a rest, even a super saiyan can’t exert himself too much.

Akane: O.K, I’ll take canoeing. Who else?

Gary: I will.

Akane: You sure?

Gary: Yeah, I’m not bad at it.

Nene: So who’s swimming?

Sakura: I will.

Jubilee: Her?

Gohan: Hey, makes sense, apart from me, she was the fastest, we need all the help we can get.

Akane: O.K, so Sakura is swimming, me and Gary are canoeing, who wants to run between Nene, Jubilee, Vivi and Gohan?

Gohan: I will, I’m not that exhausted, besides, I’m a decent navigator.

Nene: I won’t mind doing that if you want Gohan, you’d probably be better at digging anyway.

Gohan: Are you sure? (Nene nods, although Jubilee is a bit surprised)

Akane: O.K, settled, let’s win this one!

All: YEAH!

(Back to beach)

Misato: Everyone seems ready.

(Shot of Akane/Gary and Chun-Li/Julia on the canoes, the diggers and runner in position of each tribe and Serena and Sakura both stepping up to the sea. Serena is smiling like she has already got this won.)

Misato: Survivors ready?

(Sakura and Serena give each other a glare before setting up)

Misato: GO!

(Sakura and Serena run into the shallow end of the sea and as it starts to get deeper, they begin to swim. Gary and Gohan start their cheerleading as the girls and Vivi also join in, surprisingly, the Ulah tribe also cheer, although admittingly probably not as enthuastic as the Helang tribe.)

(Serena confidence in winning this is cut short as Sakura is amazingly neck and neck with her. Serena’s age and overall height, weight and strength advantage is obvious but Sakura is a natural athlete and a very strong swimmer and the two are very evenlly matched. Serena starts to increase her speed and starts to take a slight lead but Sakura’s stamina isn’t lighting up and Serena’s is. This is made even more difficult by the fact as Serena get’s to the buoy first, she swims underwater and realises she hasn’t taken a deep enough breath. She gets back up to see Sakura make in, take a breath and dive. Serena follows suit and has a bit of trouble untying the knot to the bottle and has to breathe again. Sakura has no such problems and gets the bottle first.)

(Misato: Despite Serena’s obvious advantages in age and what not, Sakura is thriving in the water environment and collects the bottle first. Now the two have to swim to the canoes where they will hand over to their respective teammates. The two swimmers can also swim back to help in the digging.)

(Serena finally gets the bottle and begins to swim back. Again, the two are fairly even as they reached the canoe but Sakura this time has the slight lead. She passes it onto Gary without a second thought. Akane and Gary start rowing, as Serena passes the bottle to Julia, and the two martial artists start rowing in tandem.)

(The rowers like the swimmers are fairly even, but it becomes apparent that Julia and Chun are working the oars more in tandem and take a slight lead over Gary and Akane. Akane’s strength makes up for this as the two Helang members are just a bit behind. As they near the beach, it is close, but Ulah are a bit ahead.)

(Julia opens the bottle quickly and sees the map. Duo looks at it and nods and heads to the jungle as the rest wait for him. Soon after, Akane takes the bottle and opens it, handing the map to Nene who goes quickly after Duo.)

(At the jungle, both members are quite good at navigating but Duo’s superior speed soon counts and whilst both find the key with no problems, Duo is out a few hundred metres ahead of Nene.)

Jubilee: Damn!

(Duo hands the map back to Tenchi, and the 6 there go to dig. They have the advantage at the moment, but as Nene arrives, that is cut as Sakura has managed to swim back and have an extra person advantage despite exhaustion. Serena is taking her sweet time to say the least.)

(However, Duo’s speed advantage gives them a bit of a lead despite the extra person Helang get now. Tenchi and Duo work together well in working out where the trunk is. Nene and Gary are close behind in working things out and both teams dig quickly. But again, the natural all round abilities of Ulah proves the winner compared to the slightly weaker overall Helang team. It is close, but the trunk of Ulah is shown first and the key goes in, and they get the victory as the Helang team just get their trunk up seeing Ulah’s victory. Sakura slumps over exhausted on the trunk, the rest are simply dejected.)

Misato: And another victory to Ulah, 4 in a row now. Helang, what is going on? Once again I’ll be seeing you at tribal council.

(Helang walks off dejected as Ulah now joined by Serena celebrate their victory.)

Helang tribe: 4.17pm.

(Misato: Another disappointment for the Helang tribe and the camp is fairly quiet.)

(Shot of Helang as everyone’s morale has collapsed. Jubilee is sulking in the camp, Sakura is washing something, Gary and Gohan are lying down trying to sunbathe, Vivi seems to be resting by a tree, and Akane and Nene seem to be the only one trying to have a conversation.)

Akane: Another person down tonight.

Nene: (visibly distraught) Again, it was my fault! If Gohan had gone instead, he could have caught up with Duo, instead I tried to make up for my past mistakes and…

Akane: Hold on there girl. What makes you think that Gohan would have found it in the first place? You found it just as quick as Duo did, it was just that he was faster at running, don’t hold that against you.

Nene: Yeah…well, she sure is.

(Look at Jubilee)

(Nene: After the challenge, the disappointment on my face was obvious, I felt it was my fault and was almost crying again. Gohan, Gary, Vivi, Sakura and Akane all snapped me out of it and I was feeling better when…)

(Akane: …little miss mutant decided to rip on her. I guess she feels that as she isn’t an outcast, an unpleasant personality emerges and rips on those in detail. I think she doesn't realise what’s going on, I just hope that our ‘little buddies’ have dupped her long enough.)

Jubilee: Tonight…Nene or Akane…I’ll guess I’ll say what Gohan and Sakura have to say…

(As she walks up, shot of Sakura washing a blanket, when she loses her footing. Gary notices this and jumps up, and grabs her arm. Of course, gravity being gravity, (and this being a Chris H twisted crossover) Gary can’t hold on and they both fall into the sea)

Gohan: Hey what happened?

(Shot of a very bedraggled Sakura and Gary. Despite everything Gohan can’t help but laugh. Of course, the very embarrassing position of Gary on top of Sakura has made the two youngsters blush.)

Gary: Thanks bud, can you lend us a hand?

Gohan: (stiffling giggles) Actually, you look pretty comfortable there…

Gary/Sakura (seemingly transforming into Shinji/Asuka mode): SHUT UP!

(In the end, Gary gets up and does help Sakura up. Sakura is blushing slightly and Gary is trying hard to cover up his own embarrassment.)

(Sakura: O.K, that lightened the mood up for tonight. I’m getting quite close to Gary and Gohan, as they are the closest to my age and aren’t as annoying as Genki. Gary is confident, but has a knowledgable and caring side. And Gohan, for all the powers in the world he’s got is the gentlest, sweetest person I know. It’s like a paradise island…except we’re always hungry.)

(Nene cooking some fish, as Gary delves out the rice.)

(Gohan: That was funny, Nene calls us the three stooges in Sakura, Gary and myself. We have clicked so well, it’s like we are a danger to everyone. And if we lose another challenge, we could be. But tonight, it won’t be difficult…and she isn’t even aware of what we did to Genki)

(Shot of Jubilee talking to Sakura and Gohan, Gary listening in, unaware to Jubilee.)

Jubilee: Akane or Nene? What do you think?

Gohan: (playing along) I dunno. But even with the three of us here, what if the other 4 vote for any of us?

Sakura: (playing along) Maybe I can get Gary or even Vivi to help us.

Jubilee: I never thought of that. O.K, if you can do that for tomorrow, we’ll be O.K.

Sakura/Gohan: Sure. (As she leaves, the inevitable word comes to mind.) Baka.

Ulah tribe

(Misato: With their fourth win on the trot, Ulah is simply a fortress now, and despite still some hostalities, especially between two people, the camp is happy in the knowledge that they are safe for another 3 days.)

(Shot of all 7 around a camp fire, just enjoying the warmth.)

Julia: Once again, we emerge victorious.

Shinji: They wanted it badly this time, but again, they come up short.

Tenchi: With the way that we are going, it could be 7-3 by the time the merger comes along.

Chun-Li: Whoa, what an advantage that would be…

Serena: Yeah, we’ll beat their brains in! Of course, we’ll have to eliminate Davis first…

Davis: Hey!

Duo: Serena, can you leave the Davis-bashing for one night? Trust me, there are enough FF.net authors that do that anyway…

Serena: Hmmph…

Tenchi: Besides, we’re here for another few days and they aren’t. Although I felt sorry for a couple of them…

(Tenchi: Today we decided to talk about the other team. Wondering who was a threat, and after watching today, we were surprised about the two primary candidates as a big threat.)

Duo: I did feel bad for Nene there, she did just as well as I did, if she was the same speed as me, I think they could have won.

Julia: Yeah, with that Akane girl in there they could have gotten through.

Duo: I was thinking more of Gohan.

Tenchi: (nodding) Yeah, he is the strength of the team. Without him, their side would be extremely uneven. He is probably the biggest threat.

(Julia: What happened to the choice of our second candidate was surprising, because it was Serena who indirectly pointed it out for us!)

Shinji: They are all quite determined, that’s for sure.

Chun: Yeah, Gary and Akane didn’t work as well as me and Julia did, but they pumped more effort into it.

Serena: I don’t care, I was pissed at that girl beating me at swimming!

(silence, before Davis starts laughing!)

Davis: Heh! Thanks for reminding me, if both me and her survive the merger, I wanna thank her!

(Serena aims to hit him, but Duo blocks it)

Duo: You know, believe it or not, Serena has a point.

Serena: Huh?

Tenchi: True, if a young girl can keep up with a physically fit teenager like Serena, she must be a true athlete.

Julia: Hard to imagine a young girl like that though to be a threat to us.

Chun: Yeah, can we pick off something as cute as that?

Shinji: No (chuckles), probably not, but it does bring some thought.

(Shinji: It’s funny, but the two youngest on their team we see as the biggest threat. Weird.)

Day 9: 7.15am.

(Misato: It’s early morning, and everyone of Helang are up, and unknowing to the conversation on the other side of the island last night, Sakura and Gohan are having a strategy talk whilst collecting the water)

Sakura: Jubilee.

Gohan: Yep.

(Misato: Hey, I never said it was an in-depth strategy!)

(Sakura and Gohan walk up to the fire where Gary, Vivi and Nene are cooking, Akane watching and Jubilee at the camp.)

Akane: (smiles) Hey guys, (more slyly) what did you get up to alone in the jungle?

Sakura: (blushing) I had enough trouble yesterday with Gary, but if you must know we were talking strategy, and (evil smile) I think I might change my mind to you now Akane.

Akane: You…wouldn’t…dare…

Sakura: Nah. (laughing)

Nene: You know, if we are going for what I think we’re all going, despite some nice deception by you two, then if we lose another one…

(They look around as the 6 sigh.)

Vivi: You guys have been like my family.

Akane: Yeah, it’s gonna be difficult after this…

Gary: I have to agree. I’ve enjoyed myself more than I care to admit…

Sakura: Me too. I’d thought I’d be alone, but you guys have been so nice…

Gohan: It is so nice to be around guys my own age, and by extremely nice women who don’t threaten me with homework every 5 seconds!

(All chuckle)

Nene: I guess…we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

(Jubilee comes, smelling the meal)

Jubilee: Hey, what you talking about?

All: Nothing.

Jubilee: O.K (gives a wink to Gohan and Sakura as she takes her place. Gohan and Sakura, being anime characters, are allowed to sweatdrop.)

Ulah tribe

(Misato: All worries seem to be exiting Ulah, as they are all safe for the time being.)

(Davis practices soccer against Shinji who is rather interesting in practicing the game.)

(Shinji: Davis seems to be the opposite to me, he’s brash, confident, has a smile always on his face…and I like him for that.)

(Julia, Duo, Tenchi and Chun-Li are practicing their katas, working up a bit of sweat.)

(Duo: I’ve taken to joining the kata crew as I have to shape up my own martial arts background. Besides, it gives us chance for alliance talk.)

Julia: (avoiding a kick from Chun) I guess we don’t have to worry about executing someone tonight.

Chun: (blocking Julia’s flailing elbow) Yeah, now there gonna be two down, will their morale be down…

Tenchi: (practicing his kendo blows) You wonder, if it does become one sided in people, do we just finish them off? It seems kinda cruel…

Duo: (shadow boxing) …if it comes to that, we’ll decided. But for the time being, let’s just enjoy another 3 days of paradise.

(Stomach rumbles)

Duo: Er…hungry?

(All collapse anime style as Serena comes in, holding two fish she caught scuba diving.)

Serena: Fish anyone?

(Serena: I decided to try and become more useful to the team and catch some more fish. Hopefully, this will make me stronger in the future.)

(Duo: Serena catching some fish…hmm, does that make her invincible? Hell no…Davis caught some last night, and I’m sure anyone else here can also catch. She still has to watch her back in the future. Although I was grateful...)

* * * *

4.00pm.

(Just before their long trek into the jungle, Jubilee has a last minute word with her two ‘teamates.’ Although she doesn’t realise it, this is basically a plead for help for her.)

Jubilee: Have you talk to Gary or Vivi? I’m gonna vote for Akane again. Although Nene isn’t as strong, it will be easier to blame her if she keeps screwing up.

Gohan: O.K. We talked to Gary as Vivi doesn’t seem that willing to double-cross. We on the other hand, are.

Sakura: Yeah.

Jubilee: O.K, no prob.

(As she leaves, Gohan smiles.)

Gohan: The problem is…

Sakura: …we never said WHO we would double-cross.

6.00pm.

(Misato: The trek through the mud volcano and the jungle is a long one tonight, as a storm is brewing along the horizon. Despite this, the Helang tribe are going for an important reason, after tonight, another person of the tribe are on the way out.)

(The tribe arrives, Gohan hits the gong as the 7 remaining members put their torches in their positions and go on their pedesals.)

Misato: Welcome Helang tribe for the second time in a row. You haven’t been doing very well, 4 losses in a row, no rewards, and a second time at Tribal Council. Sakura, how is morale doing in the camp?

Sakura: We are trying to keep our spirits lifted high, we know that we haven’t been doing well, credit to the other teams organization being better than ours. Tonight, we lose someone else and that adds to our worries, but we are not finished yet.

Misato: O.K, Gary, how have you coped on the island, being a known loner…

Gary: (smiles) I’m a member of the new Three Stooges Misato, tell Kensuke and Touji that they have been replaced. (All laugh including Misato) Joking aside, as far as the people are concerned, I have been welcomed with open arms, and I am enjoying myself.

Misato: Good for you, and if you survive into the merger, I’ll ask Shinji to vote you off until you go.

Gary: Thank you. (all laugh again)

Misato: Finally, just to round up the three stooges, Gohan, you are the strongest here by far, do you think that the group relies on you in the challenges a bit more than they should?

Gohan: I do feel that they recognise my strengths, but as proved in the last challenge, we’ve all got strengths and just a bit of bad luck cost us from winning. Tomorrow is a new day, and we will hopefully be getting back on track, even with one more down.

Misato: Thank you Gohan. O.K, if young Master Vivi will go up first tonight?

Vivi: It’s been a while since I’ve been called that.

(Vivi goes up to the pedesal, votes and see ‘JUBILEE.’)

Vivi: I’m probably one of the few that doesn’t have a problem with you, but you have a problem with others, and I don’t like that.

(Gohan goes up, then Gary, then Jubilee. Votes ‘AKANE.’)

Jubilee: Personally, I don’t like you. Proffessionally, you can screw up and Nene will be more defenceless without you.)

(Sakura then votes, then Nene. Finally Akane. Vote is for ‘JUBILEE.’)

Akane: You’ve picked up from where Genki left us. Lazy, moaning, bitchin, complaining, and hurting Nene. If you don’t go tonight, I’ll probably kill you tomorrow.

(Akane drops the vote in and Misato smiles.)

Misato: Thank you Akane, I’ll go count the votes.

(Opens the tin, first vote.)

Misato: Jubilee.

(Jubilee remains calm.)

Misato: Jubilee.

(Jubilee whispers ‘That’s Nene and Akne. More to come.’

Misato: Akane.

(Akane sweating again like last time.)

Misato: Jubilee.

(Jubilee is now surprised. ‘Vivi most likely, the rest should be…’

Misato: Jubilee.

Jubilee: WHAT?

Misato: The rest of the votes are irrelevant, but to be honest, the last two are also for Jubilee. It’s a landslide. Jubilee, could you bring your torch please?

(Jubilee stunned, goes from the bench to get her torch.)

Misato: Jubilee, as you know, fire represents life on the island, your life has now ended, will you please extinguish your flame?

(Jubilee half-heartingly does, a puff of smoke ends.)

Misato: The tribe has spoken, you must leave.

(Jubilee slowly turns, looks at Sakura and Gohan amazed. The two youngsters don’t have any expression and Jubilee seems to want to have a go at them, but decides against it, and just leaves.)

Misato: Quite a display Helang tribe. You executed someone in convincing fashion. Will it be this easy next time? Maybe we’ll find out, but for now, you’ve survived your second tribal council, so collect your torches and I’ll see you tomorrow.

(Shot of them leaving. Then changes o Jubilee’s confessional.)

Jubilee: I…can’t believe it. The kids double-crossed me.

See vote of Sakura. ‘JUBILEE.’

Sakura: You may think of this as a double-cross. I was never on your side anyway. Last time when Genki went, you insulted Nene, and I was angry at you. I am not stupid Jubilee, and you should remember this when you read this vote.

Jubilee: Sakura, Gohan, Gary…they are smarter than I thought. I’m still in shock.

Gary’s vote, ‘JUBILEE.’

Gary: You may think that there is an alliance with all 6 of us. This isn’t really true, the case is simple. None of us like you.

Jubilee: They had some tricks up their sleeves, I just didn’t see them.

Gohan’s vote, ‘JUBILEE.’

Gohan: You’ll moan about this won’t you? Well, you’ve moaned about everything else, hence why you are going.

Jubilee: If someone winning from this tribe, it will be Gohan, otherwise to be honest, I don’t care.

Akane’s vote, ‘JUBILEE.’

Akane: Jubilee, you were in danger before this. You couldn’t see with your own eyes what you were doing. The way you ripped into Nene made you an outcast, even the kids could see it. All I can say is that this place will be much happier from now on.’

(Screen flashes with the words ‘DON’T TRUST ANYBODY.’)

(VO: At first, Jubilee seemed to be a worthy member of the tribe. But the frustration of losing challenges caused a rift between her and Nene in particular. Her laziness also abruptedly ended her time on the island, making her the third person to go.)

And coming up next time;

• Another storm is brewing. How will they survive this time?
• Helang is united now. Are they much stronger?
• Chocobo for supper, but who’s gonna get it?
• And the fourth member executed will be revealed.

O.K, this chapter is over, come on, it was obvious who was gonna go. The problem is, if Helang lose again, who’s gonna go next time? Interesting.
