CHAPTER 5: A BUBBLEGUM CRISIS

(Shot of the night sky as we see Ulah return)
Misato: On Tribal Council, the vote was close, but in the end, Davis Motimaya’s injury was a death blow for him. Now, one member of the tribe contemplates her fate.
(shot of Serena at the back of the queue, very quiet.)
(Serena: I think the fact that I was almost eliminated against a handicapped person opened my eyes. I am really in the dirt in the game and I will probably need a miracle, say immunity to save my rear end this time.)
DAY 12: 6.30am
(Misato: Helang are getting stronger by the day. Meals of fish, chicken and soup have kept them going, and they are extremely confident that the next games are there for the taking.)
(Shot of Sakura cutting up a bit more of the large fish which Gohan caught)
Sakura: (whistling the Japanese CCS Theme Tune ‘Catch You Catch Me.’ Yes, I know this is based on the American version, but let’s face it, which is the better opening song? Case closed.)
Gohan: Someone’s in a cheery mood!
Sakura: (smiles) Hey Gohan! We’ve kept the fish fresh, we can keep going on this and the chicken for a while.
Gohan: We should eat the chicken as quickly as possible, because we can’t spare too much rice…plus we should be cruel to the other team and make sure there isn’t any after the merger.
Sakura: (giggles) You’re funny.
Gohan: (blushes) I wouldn’t say that.
(Gohan: The core group is myself, Gary and Sakura, but I trust Sakura a lot more than Gary. I think we have gotten along together extremely well though, and the 6 of us are finding it more difficult to think about voting for someone now.)
(Gary emerges from the ocean with some water.)
Gary: Hey, we can boil this, save waiting for the two girls to come back from the water hole.
Sakura: Cool, thanks Gary!
Gary: Anytime! You know, you’d be great as a cheerleader!
Sakura: Er…I am one back home.
Gary: (sweatdrops) Oh, er…nothing. Sorry. (Gary walks off)
Gohan: (confused) What was that about?
(Gary: I hate to say it, but there are two sides of me, the confident calm side, and the confident arrogant side. I have supressed myself so far, but I almost snapped there for whatever reason. I have to stay safe, I’ve enjoyed myself, have opened myself, and have a core alliance to keep safe. I can’t screw up now.)
(Akane and Nene return as they see the three stooges together again)
Nene: Uh oh, look out, they’re plotting.
Akane: Hold down the hatches!
Sakura: Very funny.
Gohan: Hey, where’s Vivi?
Gary: Don’t worry about the little fella, he’s just watching the sea, he seems to be in a trance.
(Shot of Vivi, looking out to the ocean)
(Vivi: I love my new friends, but…I think it might be my time to go. Although I’m on equal ground with everyone, I feel that I am the weakest link. I am struggling to keep up with my energy, and I miss home. I think if we lose immunity, I’ll probably volunteer to be a sacrifice.)
(Misato: Although Vivi’s intentions are currently unaware to the rest of Helang, his quietness hasn’t gone unnoticed.)
Akane: I think Vivi has had enough.
Nene: Yeah, he’s really homesick. I think he’s fed up of the experience now.
(As Akane and Nene are thinking about what to do with Vivi, Ulah are having a similar situation with a certainly Sailor princess…)
(Duo: Last night and this morning, Serena has been really quiet. We don’t know if that she misses Davis, or that she thinks that her fate his sealed.)
(Shot of Serena eating a small portion of rice. Chun-Li looks on with worry.)
(Chun: If we lose immunity, Serena’s goose is cooked. However, a 6 to 4 advantage could be really handy in the merger so we need to be in Serena’s good books.)
Chun: Are you O.K Serena?
Serena: Yeah, I guess…I’m just not enjoying myself here. I expect to go the next immunity…don’t deny it, Davis couldn’t see your alliance, but I can. I’m going to enjoy myself as long as possible, and I’m still going all the way in challenges! If there is even the slightest chance I could win this, I am taking it.
(claps behind her)
Shinji: I didn’t know you had that kind of spirit Serena, we need all we can get in the next few challenges!
Serena: (blushes) Er…thank you…
(Shinji: Serena is trying everything to survive. Today, she has basically tried everything to help out, even when she’s being in the way. I think she knows that he will go next if all else fails, but if all else succeeds…)
(Duo: …the last thing we need is a bitchy little girl if we survive the merger. So, to be on the safe side, we’re letting Serena be part of us…at least unless we lose immunity in the future.)
(After a rice and crab breakfast, thanks to Julia’s exceptional diving skills, they began to talk about Davis.)
Julia: He was clueless, gulliable, no idea what was going on…yet he touched my heart.
Duo: The poor chap was the youngest and the one most destined to suffer, and suffer he certainly did, but he took it in his stride.
Serena: I didn’t get on with him much, but to be honest, he made island life a lot more interesting, both positive and negative.
Tenchi: I think it was bad luck within good luck for that injury. It meant he was out of the game…but I think he really did want to go.
12.00am.
(The two tribes are shot in a part of the jungle. Misato is there waiting for them. Helang immediately spot Davis gone and their morale drops a little bit)
Misato: Welcome Ulah and Helang, for the first part of this two part Reward Challenge. Now, this is another test of your wits and skill as you prepare for the first challenge. In front of you, you can see 8 leaves. 4 of them you can eat, 4 of them if you ate them, would kill you. The first part is simple, guess which 4 are the ones you can eat. You can discuss as long as you want but come to me with your answers as soon as you have finished.
(Both tribes are now getting familiar with the fauna and flora around, and in Julia we have a specialist in botany, and Nene is a genius. Both tribes make their choices.)
Misato: O.K, the ones that can kill you could include a black poison forming in your throat, gradual burning acid in the stomach and a gradual poison that would make your heart explode. Helang, 2 out of 4. Ulah, 3 out of 4.
(Ulah celebrate, but a reminder is needed.)
Misato: However, that isn’t the end of the challenge yet. If you’ll follow me, we shall discuss the next part of the challenge.
(Next shot, we see Misato and both tribes by the ocean, ready and waiting.)
Misato: This second part requires you to swim out to the rafts and one at a time, dive into the water and grabs as many wooden pieces there. Each piece has a letter. You can only dive once. After that, make the highest letter word you can make. Each member MUST dive only once. O.K, ready?
(Both tribes nod.)
Misato: GO!
(Let’s see how each one did shall we?)
Akane: Still not too fond of the water to say the least. Doesn’t last very long and returns with no letters.
Duo: Fares a lot better and grabs three letters. ‘G’ ‘H’ ‘F’
Nene: Manages to get one before realising that she can only dog paddle. However, it is a vital letter ‘E’.
Julia: She manages to get two letters, but can’t get a grab on any others. ‘S’ ‘I’
Vivi: Flails blindly and manages to grab 2 by luck. ‘N’ ‘D’
Shinji: Not at home in the water today and fails to grab any.
Gary: Confident and grabs two. ‘J’ ‘G’
Tenchi: Dives in and finds it difficult. Still gets three though. ‘R’ ‘W’ ‘U’
Sakura: Amazes expectations and genuine good swimming and breathing gets her three. ‘O’ ‘Y’ ‘A’
Serena: Also does well and gets three. Her effort hasn’t gon unnoticed by her teammates either. ‘Q’ ‘P’
Gohan: Final dive and is looking for letters, stays down quite long and comes up with 4! ‘Z’ ‘C’ ‘T’ ‘K’
Chun-Li: Can’t do much better than others and gets two. ‘X’ ‘L.’
Misato: O.K, everyone has gone down, let’s see how well you did.
(Misato counts the letters and gets twelve each.)
Misato: O.K, again this challenge isn’t over. You now have to come up with the largest word possible with the letters you’ve got in 2 minutes. You are allowed also to use one letter more than once. O.K, you can start…now!
(Ulah are struggling with their letters as they have 2 vowels, and a lot of not nice letters.)
Chun-Li: O.K, anyone here with a high school education?
(Sweatdrop)
Tenchi: Let’s have a good think…
(helang are slightly better off with their letters but it isn’t easy)
Gohan: O.K….I should be good at this…aw man, I’m not!
Akane/Nene: Oh vey…
(After 2 minutes, Misato calls for time up.)
Misato: O.K, a bit of thought had to go into that, so let’s see what the two tribes came up with…
(Ulah show their word ‘Quips’)
Julia: I’m amazed at how difficult this is under pressure.
Misato: O.K, that 5 for Ulah, let’s see how Helang got on.
(Helang show their word ‘Contend, using the N ‘twice’)
Misato: And a smart use of the rule, a 7 letter word. Now, the combined points of the two chances are Ulah with 9, but Helang once again are our winners with 10 points.
(Helang cheers as Ulah are depressed. Misato goes over to a small treasure chest.)
Misato: And your reward is a little bit of sweet refreshment, tea, soda, and various displays of chocalate and sweets!
(All of Helang are in ectascy. This showing just makes Ulah even more depressed. As they leave, the faces of the two tribes tells the story.)
1.00pm.
(Misato: Helang return to their camp, overjoyed and soon to be oversugared.)
Akane: I’ve been dying for some sugar since coming here!
Nene: I think we should save some of the sugar with the milk for the future for our water, rather than just use them with the tea bags.
Gary: For flavour, of course! As always Nene, you are smart…and yes, you saved our butts in that challenge.
Nene: Ha, that is always the way!
(Gary: Nene…is a real enigma. Physically, she may be one of the weakest in the tribe, but mentally, she is by far the strongest. She is playing the game really well, can be a bit cocky at times, which is dangerous in a game like this as I should now. I have to keep my eye on her.)
(A big bar of chocolate is the first to come on as they toast with some soda.)
Helang: To the Helang tribe! (All drink down as Vivi breaks the chocolate round…and they all groan as sugarholics should.)
Sakura: Hmm…doesn’t that taste like heaven?
Gohan: I know if my mom sees this see’ll go nuts!
Gary: Ah, even sweeter than a Pokemon victory!
Vivi: I never realised how good this stuff is, remind me to find some when I go home.
Nene: If you go home Vivi dear!
(Vivi: The conversation during the chocolate victory got me talking to them, saying that I am struggling to be here, and I came out and said it.)
Sakura: Vivi, don’t say things like that!
Vivi: Guys, I don’t want to split the tribe, and I can honestly say that if he lose immunity, it’s going to be hard to vote and break it up. So, I am asking that if we lose tomorrow’s immunity, you will put my name on that ballot and enjoy the rest of your stay.
Gary: Vivi…
Vivi: Let’s face it, all of you are much stronger in more ways than one than me, you all have the potential to survive much longer into this game. Me, I’m struggling. I am running low on energy and willpower, so please guys, the next immunity we get, vote me off.
Akane: Vivi sweetie…we may not even get one, the way we’re going, we’ll be up 6 to 4 by the time the merger comes.
(Akane: I think Vivi is brave for being the ‘sacrifice’ to a difficult decision, and I am hoping that we don’t need to make that decision. For the last 4 days or so, we have been strong, been eating well, and our morale has been at it’s highest. The only way I can see us lose the next immunity, is by a silly mistake or some sort of disqualification.)
Vivi: Guys…if it happens, please let me go…but also…thank you, for showing that I did have a place here, and you cared about me.
Sakura: Not did Vivi, do.
Gohan: Your one of us, and you’re staying one of us…and to make sure, we’re gonna win the next two immunties so a united Helang can crush the remaining Ulah!
Nene: Yeah…then when it comes down to us 6, then we’ll vote you off!
All but Vivi: Nene!
Nene: Oops…
(Vivi blushes and laughs)
(Vivi: I didn’t know they cared so much. They know I want to go yet they still want me here…it’s amazing, just like back home, I was so different, yet Zidane, Dagger, Steiner, they all accepted me. I feel like I’ve found a second family.)
Ulah: 2.25 pm.
(Misato: Whilst Helang are discussing and jovial, Ulah realise that they are in a rut, and need to get out of it.)
(Shot of Serena swimming in the ocean, as Tenchi and Julia, the ‘leaders’ if you will, are meditating on the beach.)
Tenchi: I need to clense my mind after another loss. We are struggling.
Julia: We’re not struggling, it’s that Helang are so much stronger now, it’s unbelievable.
Tenchi: I think the majority of their wins have come from mental tests rather than physical, but in Gohan and Akane they have some power, and in Sakura some natural athletism so they are no weaklings.
Julia: It’s not over yet, we could still make a 6-4 merger. We need to win tomorrow’s immunity.
Tenchi: Yes, we need a unity and a hell of a lot of luck.
(Serena is watching them, not just Tenchi and Julia, but Chun-Li and Duo talking as well. Shinji is boiling some water over there.)
Serena: (to herself) I wonder what they are talking about? Duo…are you telling Chun-Li how you’re going to eliminate me? And you Shinji…you of little backbone, do you realise how useless you are to this tribe? Well, I’m no pushover. I’ve got a few little tricks up my sleeve too…
(Serena: I’m not stupid. The friendliness of my comrades is basically a way to ensure that I’m on their side. If we get to the merger 6-4, we have the advantage of voting in a tribe. But if we do make it, Serena has a plan, that’s for sure…)
Duo: I think we need to be thinking about council. I mean eventually we’ll probably have to pick each other off as well.
Chun: Think about that at the merger. We don’t know who is going to be around then do we?
(Shinji: In the core 5 alliance, there is Tenchi and Julia who are quite close, and Duo and Chun are as well, which leaves me. Although they have warmed to me, Duo in particular, I still feel like the dark horse. Believe it or not, I want to win this, and whilst I’m strong in an alliance, I feel I will be the first castaway when it is all said and done.)
Shinji: O.K, water is boiled, add a bit of rice for flavour shall we…
Ulah tribe: 10.00pm.
(Misato: The light has died down for the night, and both tribes are ready for the night. Sleep is difficult in the heat and some tribal members have other ways of sleep…however, tonight, things are going to get a bit more personal…)
(Shot of inside the tent, we see that Serena, Duo and Chun-Li are asleep. However, Shinji, Julia and Tenchi are outside.)
(Shot of Shinji, looking up at the sky in a hammock.)
Shinji: This reminds me of home...
(A sound from the jungle startles Shinji.)
Shinji: Huh? What’s that? (Fearful that it may be a snake or something, Shinji grabs a large stick…but hears something else.)
Shinji: Huh? Voices…
(Shinji strains to hear two voices, and he recognises them immediately.)
Shinji: *quietly* That Julia and Tenchi…
(Shot of Julia and Tenchi just outside the jungle, there is a small tent like cover over them which is see through. It is in fact Julia’s luxury item, a plastic inflatable giant balloon, which is perfect use for a cover or a blanket. However, Julia is not in a gaming mood which is obvious…as she is cuddled within Tenchi’s lap.)
Julia: How do you do it Masaki-kun? (Ha, I hold not such limitations with the Japanese language/honor-fics and Asian culture in my fic, so take that all American dubbing companies…Nelvana, I’m looking at you!) You literally makes women flood to you and fall in love with you?
Tenchi: (genuinelly blushing) I dunno…I guess in Ryoko and Ayeka’s case, it is a case of screwballs with identity. Living with 6 girls trust me, can drive you to despair…especially on the toilet…
Julia: TMI pal. Too much information.
Tenchi: But you…you remind me so much of Sasami, except a lot older of course. I dunno, if there is some connection between us but…it’s stronger than I have felt for anyone else.
Julia: I know. I know that we have our own personal lives back home…after this, we’ll probably never see each other again.
Tenchi: Good, because I don’t want Ayeka and Ryoko trying to kill you if they see this!
Julia: (giggles) However, (kisses Tenchi on the cheek) I hope to spend as much time as possible with you, whilst I can.
(Tenchi wraps the covering around them, but changes his mind as he hears Julia softly drift to sleep. With a smile, he lifts her up in his arms and heads back to the tent.)
Shinji: (still watching) Whoa. (hides himself quickly as Tenchi walks out and goes in the tent, quietly not disturbing the others.)
Day 13: Helang tribe – 7.12am.
(Misato: The sugar rush from last night has made our Helang crew bright and early and energetic, ready for today’s challenge. They are preparing their second chicken for brunch today, a good healthy meal before they go for the immunity.)
Sakura: I’m getting better at this cooking now!
Nene: Hey, if it had been up to me, it would have been candy and potato chips all the way!
Akane: The water’s boiling. How are the guys?
(All look to Gary and Gohan playing volleyball in the water, with Vivi an amusing…and sometimes bemused spectator)
Nene: Just being guys.
Sakura: Right (and resumes cooking). Just tell Gohan not to make the chicken explode when he kills it.
Akane: I’ll do the last one, I think it will be O.K.
Nene: Yeah, we’re invicible now!
(Nene: The Helang team is strong, united and has eaten well. If we don’t win the next challenge, I will be very surprised.)
(Shot of Gary diving and missing the shot as he gets up and grumbles whilst Vivi and Gohan snicker a bit.)
Gary: Hey, no fair, I can’t fly, move at the speed of light and oh yeah, I don’t have masses of superstrength either!
Gohan: So, you never specified restrictions or rules….
Gary: (mumbles something about Super Saiyans and their strength…)
Gohan: Hmm…Vivi, are you O.K?
Vivi: Yeah, I’m just enjoying every day I’m on the island now, just for the peace and tranquility. A thing of beauty remains untouched, and I’m happy with that.
Gohan: Glad you don’t visit our world when a warlord comes, the amount of regions of mountains, earth and whatever which are destroyed should really have a bill for any other cause!
Vivi: Nah, that sounds EXACTLY like where I come from.
Gohan: O…K?
* * * *
(Misato: Meanwhile, over on Ulah beach, Shinji’s surprise learning has been kept under wraps at the moment, as Ulah concerntrate on one thing. Immunity.)
Chun: We have to win this basically, the rut we are in has to stop.
Duo: Hey, they had a rut to start with and now it’s our turn. It will shift over to them today, guarantee!
Shinji: Right…what he said.
Tenchi: I think we need some more enthusiasm…so Serena, please take it away…
Serena: LISTEN, IF WE DON’T WIN IMMUNITY TODAY I WILL MAKE YOUR LIVES FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS A LIVING HELL! OF COURSE, THEN I’LL BE ELIMINATED BUT THAT’S BESIDE THE POINT!
(The Ulah tribe have to laugh as Serena smiles and gives a bow)
(Serena: What’s wrong with mocking the situation? We all know that if we lose I’m going so why don’t I make light of it? Not only that, but it keeps me in the good books of the Ulah tribe if somehow I survive it.)
Julia: I think that is what is called an insprational talk if I ever heard of one ladies and gentlemen. So today, we’re gonna win, for Ulah and for ourselves.
All: Yeah!
2.00pm, Immunity Challenge
(Shot of both tribes at the edge of the beach.)
Misato: Greetings Ulah and Helang. Today, after a few days of mental challenges, we return back to the name of the game, survival, and this is going to put all of your bodies to the limit.
(A shot of a long stretch of beach into the jungle is shown)
Misato: Today, it is the survivor assault course, and let me tell you, you will need every bit of strength to win this one. The course is set out in 5 stages and 5 people will attempt it, so each tribe will sacrifice one member for this challenge. The first part (shot of a stump on the ground) is that one member must dig under than stump as fast as you can and go under it, only using their bare hands. (shot of a few tree stumps on the floor to a wall with a rope). The next person will then navigate through the stumps, by jumping on them. If they fall, they go back to the beginning, then take on the wall where they climb up the rope before tagging in the next person. They will navigate a tightrope, both coming and returning before dropping down a cliff and tagging the next person. The fourth person will run towards a water hole where they must go under both of the logs there in the water, and return back. They run down where we tag in the final person, who swings across a mud pit and runs down the home stretch for the immunity. I hope you remembered all that as I’m not repeating myself.
(All are a bit nervous and confused of this challenge.)
Misato: O.K. I want you to discuss who is going to do what, and who will sit this one out.
(The discussions are interesting as we don’t know who does what yet. In Helang, Vivi easily passes by as the person who won’t participate. Ulah is a bit more difficult as they are undecided between Serena and Shinji. After a bit of arguing Serena’s argument of ‘This is to prove I am with you’ wins in the end and Shinji sits out.)
Misato: So, here is the order they will go in.
(Shot of each part of the course with the contestants ready.)
Misato: The first leg will be done by Julia for Ulah and Akane for Helang. The second part will be Gary against Chun. The third part is Tenchi vs. Gohan. The fourth part is Nene vs. Duo. And the final leg is Sakura vs. Serena.
(Misato: For the first time as well, after each leg, both tribes can speak to the others representive. Good impressions could be made as the merger is coming up.)
(The first leg, Julia vs. Akane.)
Misato: Survivors ready?
(both female martial artists look determined)
Misato: GO!
(Both girls set off for the log. Julia is quicker and reaches there first, but Akane is stronger and literally smashes through the sand. After a while, Akane manages to get through despite being slightly larger than Julia and runs off to the jungle. Julia isn’t far behind though and as Akane tags Gary, Chun-Li is cheering her friend as she soon makes the tag.)
(As it’s over, Julia and Akane give each other a high five and begin a discussion on their martial art styles, and general chit-chat.)
(Back to the race, Gary navigates well but Chun-Li is quicker. Gary’s slightly lead is mainly non-existent as Chun-Li is neck a neck with him as they come up to the wall. Gary lifts himself up as Chun-Li is equal to him and tag to their next partners, the anticipated Tenchi and Gohan match.)
(However, Gohan, whilst the most physical member of Helang, isn’t a match for Tenchi on the high wire. Gohan cannot keep up with the giant, confident steps that Tenchi is creating. Soon, there is quite a large gap between the two as Tenchi comes back, and Ulah is cheering them well on. Gohan is trying to match Tenchi’s reach and width, but can’t, and all the strength in the world isn’t helping. Tenchi tags in Duo with yards of space to go. Gohan tags out about 7 seconds after Tenchi finishes and Nene is out of there like a bat outta hell. Tenchi puts a comforting hand on Gohan as Gohan wonders how the heck he did that so fast…oh, you mean there is still a race going on, O.K…anyway, this part is important..I SWEAR!)
(Duo begins to build on the lead Tenchi gave him as he is a lot faster than Nene. The water hole is there, but he trips slightly. It doesn’t matter as he grits his teeth and goes into the water, under the logs, although his build is bigger than Nene’s and he has to dig deeper. As he comes back, Nene has reached and Duo heads back. Nene dives in, goes under the first one, but goes OVER the second one, and does the same back, as she runs to the final leg.)
(Duo is still quite a bit ahead as Serena is cheering him on. Duo makes the tag as Serena swings, but her foot slips of the mud, and she has to go back. This enables Nene to catch up and makes the tag. Sakura and Serena swing again, but Serena has lost the momentum and Sakura goes across ahead. Serena finally gets over and runs as fast she can, but the mud is making it slippy for her. Sakura holds herself steady and runs across as fast as she can. The run is quite long, but Sakura’s speed and stamina are on par with Serena, and Serena’s slip in the mud is making it hard to catch up. At the end, Sakura edges out Serena by about 2 seconds to win the race and immunity.)
(As Sakura exits first, cheers from all of Helang back at the beach as Ulah hold their hands in front of their faces. Sakura and Serena hug, as Serena has tears in her eyes, knowing that she is going next immunity.)
(Or is she…)
Misato: Helang and Ulah, well run, and with Sakura crossing here first, Helang hold victory…
(They cheer)
Misato: …if it wasn’t for one little thing. You see, in the rules, I said in the 4th leg, you had to go UNDER both logs. Well…
(replay of Nene going OVER the second log)
Misato: Nene didn’t do that, she went over the second log, which is disregarding the rules…thus Helang are disqualified…
(Ulah lift themselves up and cheer wildly, more so Serena as without thinking, she hugs Duo who is consoling the girl who has a saving grace.)
Misato: …Ulah get immunity, and Helang, tomorrow I see you at Tribal Council.
(As Helang celebrate, Ulah are in shock and despair. Vivi is fairly silent, but Nene is sobbing hysterically. Akane and Sakura are consolling her, as Gohan and Gary are silent.)
(Misato: Nene’s mistake, for not the first time in challenges, has been a costly one, and now Helang prepare for Tribal Council tomorrow. For some, it’s a done deal, as Vivi still wants to leave. However, for what is seen as the key alliance, some are having second thoughts.)
(Shot of Akane talking to Nene, who has since stopped crying and seems calm now. Vivi is again, at the ocean, but Sakura, Gohan and Gary are also there, and are talking about once subject. Nene.)
Gary: You know, the three of us together could change this around. Maybe we shouldn’t vote for Vivi.
Gohan: Yeah, I mean Nene has been great for intelligence, but mind games aren’t going to work in the merger.
Sakura: It was an honest mistake, we’ve all made them.
Gary: (smug) Not me missy!
Sakura: (sweatdrop) Er…
Gary: Uh…O.K, but I think that Vivi should survive.
Gohan: He has accepted defeat though, and he wants to leave, so I think we should still give him that blessing. Mind you, I like Vivi more than Nene.
Sakura/Gary: Huh?
Nene: She’s a bit bossy, and Vivi is like our 4th member of the Alliance. Nene likes to play mind games yes, and she could be dangerous…and a turncoat whenever the moment is realised.
Sakura: So…you saying we should hang onto Vivi and go after Nene?
Gary: Vivi may not like it, but he’s a good moral support in the game and we need that if we survive the merger. Nene and Akane are more likely to doublecross…
Gohan: I’m not sure. (smiles) I’d think that would be you Gary.
Gary: Thanks…HEY!
(But whilst they are talking, Vivi is listening.)
Vivi: (to himself) Guys, it’s nice you think of me like this, but it was a mistake and I wasn’t even in the challenge. I hope you realise this…
(Whilst Helang decide, Ulah celebrate, as Serena in particular
is quite happy)
Serena: I’m safe for another 3 days…and that gives me
time to create an evil plan for me to survive the rest of the
island!
Julia: What evil plan?
(Serena turns to see Julia smiling at her)
Serena: GAAAH! You heard me!
Julia: No need to worry Serena, I won’t tattle-tale, because everyone on this island has their own ‘evil plans’ as you put it for them to survive.
Serena: Huh?
Julia: (nods) Yep, we’ve all got our strategy, and no, it wasn’t trying to remove B.B. Hood as quickly as possible on the first day. If you make the right moves, you survive. If you don’t, you’re done. Serena, you made a mistake with your outside ways, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do well. If we win the next immunity, you can still win this, as long as you’re with us…
Serena: (looks up at her) You really mean it?
Julia: Of course, we’re a tribe…
(Speaking of tribes, the male members and Chun-Li are talking about the other tribe, and the first time they got to talk to them in today’s immunity.)
Duo: They got ahead, then we got lucky, then they got lucky and finally we got REALLY lucky to win that one.
Chun: I had to feel sorry for Nene, she must be heartbroken.
Tenchi: Sakura as well, she had the victory in her grasp, only for it to be taken away.
Shinji: Mind you, it was you who saved us on the rope walk. That was incredible! (Suddenly remembers something else..) Er, Tenchi…
Tenchi: Yeah?
Shinji: Er, last night…
Julia: Hey, you guys having a party without us?
Serena: Yeah, I’m going to be around you for a few more days so you might as well get used to me!
Chun: Hey girls! Come on, it’s a celebration!
(A small meal of rice and lobster, again caught by Julia, is prepared as Ulah is enjoying a peaceful night for once, with nothing to worry about.)

(Later that night)
(Shinji is awake as he waits inside the tent, pretending to be asleep. He hears movement…)
Shinji: Ah, I got you th…huh?
(Julia and Tenchi are asleep on the floor. However, two people are missing…)
Shinji: Uggh….now what?
(Shinji sneaks outside. He spots movement on the beach…and is shocked as Duo has his hands wrapped around Chun’s waist…remember, Chun is 15 in this so it’s O.K to 14 year old Duo, and Duo looks asleep…)
Duo: Please don’t tell Hilde…
Chun: I won’t tell her if you won’t…beside, as
you said, what are the chances of you getting to China or Hong
Kong any time after this?
Duo: Er…nil…
Chun: So enjoy this while it lasts. (kisses Duo on the cheek) I think we’d better get back before anyone notices.
Duo: Sure.
(back at tent, Shinji’s jaw has dropped)
Shinji: This…is…getting…way…too…weird…
Day 14: 6.23am, Helang tribe.
(Whilst Ulah are literally getting closer in more than one respect, Helang are literally dragging themselves up, with the harsh reality of tonight upon them.)
Sakura: (groggily) Morning…
Nene: Hey. I thought I’d cook today, it’d help clear my mind, especially after yesterday.
Sakura: Yeah, listen none of us…
Nene: (sighs) If it wasn’t for the fact that Vivi hadn’t volunteered, I would be in some real trouble.
Sakura: Yeah…true…
Nene: Hey Sakura, mind getting up the stowaways…
Sakura: (lost in her thoughts) Huh? Oh, sure!
(Sakura goes off, takes another look at Nene, and…well…)
Sakura: GET UP! IF YOU’RE UP LATER THAN ME, THEN YOU MUST BE LAZY, SO GET UP!
Gary/Gohan: WAAH! A SCREAMING MONSTER!
(Both spot Sakura staring at them like she was an evil older brother…)
Gary/Gohan: Oh, it’s Sakura. Same thing.
*bash*
Sakura: They’re up…but a little groggy.
(As she steps out, both Gary and Gohan have matching bumps on their heads…)
Gohan: I guess we don’t call her monster anymore.
Gary: Right…
Akane: (running) Right, water is here! Right Vivi?
Vivi: Yes, man, you’re strong Akane…
Akane: Thank you, as long as you don’t add an insult such as thunder thighs, macho chick, gorilla…
Vivi: I get it. (shyly) Why would anyone call you that anyway? You’re really pretty…
Akane: (drops the bucket) Why…th…th…thank you! (kisses Vivi on the cheek and hugs him) That is so sweet…can you be my P-Chan?
Vivi: (somehow he’s blushing) No, sorry, but I’m going tonight…remember to vote for me.
Akane: (a bit sad) Oh…yeah…Vivi…
Vivi: Yeah?
Akane: Are you sure? We’ll miss you…
Vivi: Akane, I’ll miss you all a lot, but I can’t win this, I’m no match for anyone here, so it’s best to cut me off. One favour, let me enjoy this time with all of you for the rest of the day, Tribal Council isn’t a pressure tonight.
Akane: (smiles) Sure Vivi.
(Akane: It is going to be a sad day at Tribal Council tonight as poor Master Vivi is voted off. Personally, I would rather vote for Gary myself, but Vivi is right. We need all the strength we can get for the next challenge, and sadly, Vivi is the weakest link.)
(However, the infamous Poke-Captor Z alliances, which have worked in previous other survivor fics…well one…may have something to do with that.)
Sakura: Are you sure about this?
Gary: Yeah.
Sakura: Gohan….
Gohan: Morale or power? Brains vs. calm? I’m not so sure Gary…and Akane is gonna be pissed…
Gary: Pissed or not, we’ve got to show them something. Remember, only one is going to win this, and if one of us is going to, we need to be bold, a move like this is needed.
Gohan: We’ll think about it.

(Serena is swimming, Chun and Julia are practicing kata, Duo and Tenchi are relaxing and talking in the tent and Shinji is preparing tea. However, Shinji perhaps could be either the biggest target or threat in the game after witnesses some shock new ideologies.)
Shinji: So, let’s work this out. Duo Maxwell and Chun-Li Zsng, and Julia Chang and Tenchi Masaki? This has to be the work couples since Traora!
(Arpulver: Hey, that was my idea!)
(Chromus: And it was brilliant, but work with me here…)
Shinji: O.K, maybe it isn’t that bad…(Arp: Hey!)…but still, this is confusing the heck out of me. I hope this doesn’t make me with…(gulp) Serena!
(All known authors sweatdrop at the thought of Sereji…)
Shinji: O.K, there has to be something I can do with this information…
Chun: What information?
(Shinji jumps, nearly spilling the water, as Julia and Chun-Li look over him)
Shinji: Er…n…n…nothing…
(Shinji: Despite this info, I am still a coward. Especially with girls around…reminds me of my fear for Asuka. I could use this info to either my advantage and disadvantage…but do I want to?)
Julia: Smell great…
Shinji: It’s a mixture of rice and soup with fish, managed to mix it in thanks to Duo technique.
Julia: Great, we’re relaxing and eating, Serena, you can lose more weight later! Join us!
Serena: HEY! (all laugh as Tenchi and Duo join in. As they eat, Shinji occasionally glances at Duo when he talks to Chun, and the same when Julia is talking to Tenchi. He sighs as he continues to eat…
6.00pm.
(Misato: Tribal Council is on the way for Helang, and now, we don’t know what is going on between the core alliance of Helang, is it still Vivi, or has Nene’s mistakes convinced the three strong to change their vote, regardless of Vivi’s insistance.)
(Shot as Gary rings the gong, as the 6, soon to be 5 members of Helang sit on their pedesals, ready for the executioner Misato to make her appearance…)
(Misato enters with a smile as the accused are ready to pass judgement.)
Misato: Well Helang, since last time we saw you here, you had gone from strength to strength, and were close to making it four in a row. However, one little mistake cost you yesterday and you are here today? So, Nene, we’ll start with you. It was your mistake…do you feel threatened?
Nene: (unsure what to say…) Umm…well, I guess so. Anytime you bungle something up, you know you could be in for the chop, as I sure as hell know. But I am hoping that the group doesn’t take that into account with the way I’ve conducted with the earlier challenges in the last few episodes.
Misato: Interesting. Now Akane, out of everyone here, you seem to be the closest to Nene, so what are you planning for tonight?
Akane: I have my strategy planned out…and tonight it will be revealed as the next person goes…but I will say that the person on the ballot, I certainly have nothing against him or her, because I have to say, we have bonded very well since the last Tribal Council, and after tonight, I hope it will stay that way.
Misato: You’ll need everything. Finally, Gary, after tonight, you will be down to 5. If you lose another one, you will be at a real disadvantage come the merge, what will happen over the next three days?
Gary: I have no doubt we’ll have 5 people by the time the merger comes along.
Misato: Short, simple, and to the point. Well, as that was quick, Gary you might as well open up the voting.
(Shot of Gary going up to the voting booth. He writes down…’NENE’…)
Gary: Despite Vivi saying he wants to go, it’s about strategy. What you did was just convienant.
(Shot of Nene voting. Hers says ‘VIVI.’)
Nene: Vivi the sweetie…we shall miss you, but you wanted to go, and I’m granting it.
(Shot of Akane voting, but we can’t see it. Next is Gohan, who we see ‘NENE’ on it.)
Gohan: Personally, it was difficult to vote for you, as I actually someone else in mind, and it wasn’t Vivi. But I’ll stick with this for a plan…plus your mistake did cost us a chance for 3 more days together on the island.)
(Shot is of Sakura. She writes, but we don’t see her vote. Finally, it’s Vivi. His vote is surprisingly ‘GARY’)
Vivi: This vote is for two reasons. One, it’s to hopefully ensure that I go tonight. The second is that out of the remaining members, Gary has pulled his weight the least, he won’t go tonight, but a warning that two sides to a character have been noticed. Be warned Gary Oak.
Misato: Thank you Vivi. Now, I’ll count the votes.
(Opens the jar and takes the first vote.)
Misato: Vivi.
(Vivi nods as Sakura smiles at him, but looks nervous.)
Misato: Gary.
(Gary is stunned, and immediately looks around for who could have voted for him…)
Misato: Nene.
(Nene is also stunned and looks on verge of tears. Akane looks around as she realises that things are starting to get interesting.)
Misato: Nene.
(Now Vivi is a bit shocked. Nene is literally shaking.)
Misato: Vivi. 2 votes each for Vivi and Nene. (Now if the next vote is for Gary…)
(She opens it. Alas, it isn’t.)
Misato: The final vote…(smiles)…’Master Vivi.’
Vivi: (whispers to someone) Thank you.
Misato: Vivi, can you grab your torch please?
(Vivi does so and walks up to Misato, who smiles at the young black mage.)
Misato: Vivi, as you know, fire represents your life on this island. Well, your life on this island has ended, will you please extinguish your flame?
(Vivi does so, and a trail of smoke flies by.)
Misato: The tribe has spoken, you must leave.
(Vivi turns. Immediately Akane and a still tearful Nene go up and hug the mage. Vivi goes up and shakes the two guys hands and finally to Sakura.)
Sakura: Vivi…
Vivi: Thank you. (The two hug as Vivi finally lets go, and heads his way to exile.)
Misato: That was a close and tough one, but you 5 survive, and now, it is time to return to your beach. Get your flames and I’ll see you tomorrow.
(Vivi’s confessional)
Vivi: It worked out in the end. My eavesdropping didn’t go unnoticed and I’m glad that I’m gone, the guys will do much better without me.
(Shot of Akane’s vote of ‘VIVI’)
Akane: Vivi, sweetheart, dear, I wish Ranma was half as kind and sweet as you are, it is a sad day you have to go, and I speak on behalf of this tribe, we shall miss you.
Vivi: Old friends and new friends, it’s been a great ride, but my will had gone, and the winner needs to be of more competitive spirit. Helang have plenty of people in that respect and if they can win immunity next time, I would love to get ring side seats for the merge.
(Sakura’s vote, ‘MASTER VIVI’)
Sakura: I’m glad you heard the guys. This made this much easier. Thanks for talking to me. Nene needs to stay and although I would have liked you to stay as well, it is for the best. Vivi, good luck in the future, and I will miss you a lot.
Vivi: I am Vivi Ortimer, leaving on a high note, seeing the beauty of the island for the last few days, and I’m thankful for that. Thank you Helang.

Misato: Vivi, whilst probably the weakest member physically of the tribe, was the morale boost of all the members of Helang, particularly the final 5 which he departs in this game. However, the trials of the game left him physically and mentally exhausted, and despite being a good friend and influence on the tribe, was eventually voted off by consent.

Yep, I decided no landslide voting. In the last ep, I was originally planning for a landslide vote for Serena, but considering how many Sailor Moon fans are (which surprised me), I’ve let her get a reprive…for the time being. Same here, I was gonna go a landslide (but much more good natured) vote for Vivi, but this works better, not controversy rules both tribes and I’ve got more ideas for the merge.
Vivi’s choice as a competitor came out of the blue. I decided that I wanted a FF character in the game and (at the time) I was familiar with 7 and 9. (Vaguely familiar with 6 and 8 as well) Cloud and Zidane were obvious choices, but I felt that having an outsider like Vivi may actually be the best thing for a survivor, a real surprise perhaps. Whilst he didn’t make the merge, he still mad an impact in his own little way.
