CHAPTER 6: A BAD TIME TO ROT

(Misato: The last tribal council brought some harsh thoughts for a few members of the tribe to say the least…)
Gary: (to Sakura) So…
Sakura: (pretends to ignore him) So?
Gary: So, why did you stick to Vivi?
Sakura: How did you…
Gohan: Because I gave him my word as a Saiyan that is wasn’t me. I wanted Vivi to be here though.
Sakura: But I liked Vivi too, but I like Nene as well, and Vivi wanted to go! What Nene did was a mistake, we all make them as you said before…
Gary: That’s beside the point. We had an alliance, and you broke it. Consider yourself warned Sakura.
(Sakura feels ready to cry as Gohan realises that Gary may have gone too far…)
Gohan: Gary, was that a bit harsh? I mean, Vivi wanted it, we may have not liked it, but she did what he wanted…
Gary: It’s the prinicple of being a team Gohan. (sighs) O.K, I was a bit harsh at her…
(Both stop as they notice a glaring Nene Romanova looking at them.)
Gohan: I think we’re in trouble.
Nene: I guess Sakura isn’t the only one that needs to explain do they?
Gary: Oh boy…..

(Before they go to sleep)
Nene: Look, my screw up was a screw up, and I apologise, but the fact that you went against me without telling me was out of order, if it wasn’t for Vivi and Sakura I wouldn’t have enjoyed my last few days…wasn’t that a promise after Jubilee and Genki went? If one of us went from now on, we’d let them know. Vivi knew it, but I was scared out of my eyes at Council.
(Gary and Gohan are hung in shame. We can see that Akane is holding a fast asleep Sakura in their camp, for once, not getting involved in the arguments.)
Nene: Listen, I was pissed off yes, but tomorrow is another day, and we’ve got to get our butts in gear if we wish to remain unifed. Remember, we lose an immunity, and it’s a 6-4 problem.
Gohan: I forgot about that. Nene, you have my word that I’ll be with you as a team for the next three days, and if we survive, the merge too.
Nene: (nods) Gary?
Gary: Yeah, I want to survive as badly as anyone, and I guess after tonight I didn’t do any favours. Nene, I’m sorry, we need to stick together now. Physically, we are still strong but one person down. We need to hold together.
Nene: (holds out her hand) Peace?
Gary: (shakes it) Peace.
Gohan: (putting his hand on top of theirs) Peace.
(Akane: I’m not sure who to trust anymore. Nene is all panicky, Sakura is obviously scared of this conflict, Gary is starting to become a blowhard and Gohan is the physical mastermind. SO where does that leave me? I’m sure no-one is safe if we lose next time.)

(Ulah tribe, day 15)
(Misato: The gentle tides have ebeed on Helang, as Ulah wake up, knowing that a win in immunity will put them up 6-4. However, today, the concerntration is on the reward challenge.)
(Shot of Shinji cooking a portion of rice, as a shot of Chun-Li literally shaking off the cobwebs using her lightning kick attack. Shinji is watching her with a thoughtful look on her face.)
Shinji: Why did this get so much more complicated?
Tenchi: (watching Shinji and out of earshot) He seems to be having a lot on his mind at the moment.
Julia: I know. I think out of the group, Shinji does feel a bit of an outsider. I mean, he’s a great guy, but do you think…
Duo: Yep. Perhaps he feels that the 4 other members of our alliance has gotten so closer, that he’s feeling left out.
Julia: Yeah, come on. Let’s cheer him up.
(3 go up to Shinji with smiles as Shinji sees him and also smiles.)
Shinji: Hey guys, breakfast will be done in a minute.
Duo: Cheers Shinji, if it wasn’t for you most of the time, we wouldn’t survive this game…
Shinji: Thanks Duo. Trust me, I get a lot more appreciation from you guys that I do back home.
Duo: Yeah, what is it you called the German girl?
Shinji: (smiles) Devil girl.
Julia: (smiles) Well, you know what they say about sleeping with the devil…
(Shinji blushes big-time as everyone chuckles, even Shinji.)
Tenchi: Relax Shinji, we want you to feel being one of the alliance, we’re still going strong for council, and we’re going to be with you all the way.
Shinji: Thanks. I have been feeling a bit depressed lately…maybe I’m missing home more than I thought.
Duo: After three more days, company arrives.
Chun-Li (running up): Is it company, or visitors for a few days?
Serena: (finally emerging from the tent) If it’s 6-4, it is the latter rather than the former…
Shinji: (cheerful) Morning Serena.
Serena: (sleepily) Morning Shinji, aw man, last night had to be the best night sleep I had in a while.
Julia: (puzzled) Why?
Serena: Because it was the first night in a while that I was sure that I wasn’t hated or getting evicted.
(All laugh as Shinji prepares the rice)
(Shinji: You know, despite my potential knowledge, it seems that the group wants me to remain in the alliance. And I still don’t know if they know about the other couple in their group either…who would have thought that the devious player in the game could be me…)
(Tenchi: Shinji is loyal to our alliance, and I wouldn’t say that if it came down to us 5 that Shinji would be the first to go. I’ve got a few other ideas about other people as I am not blind. We’ll have to wait and see, especially with the merge coming up…)
(Helang tribe)
(Misato: Helang are saving the final chicken for the night before the final Council. So, the remains of the large fish Gohan cooked are mixed into a rice bowl. And for added taste, flavoured sugar water from their reward.)
Sakura: (drinking) Gahh…(breathes out)…I needed that.
Akane: You dehydrated yourself last night dearie…(shows Sakura her shirt she’s about to hang on the washing line), trust me, I know first hand.
Sakura: (blushes) Sorry Akane, I guess the pressures are finally getting to me.
Akane: I know. With last night in mind, are you sure that you are ready to go into a merge? You know as well as I do that there will be tricks and treachery aplenty.
Sakura: Well…if you had come to me at the start of the game and said that, I would have said ‘no.’ But now, I realise that it is every person for themselves, and in a way, I did that by ‘betraying’ Gohan and Gary, so yes, I’m ready.
Akane: Just what I wanted to hear.
Sakura: Huh? How come?
Akane: (smiles) Just thinking of things. Go hang out your dirty laundry Sakura, I’ll catch up with you.
(Sakura runs off to join Nene on towel duty)
(Akane: Sakura is a very nice, determined girl, and today, I am trying to cover all my bases. My question for Sakura was to determine if I should vote for her in case we lose immunity. However, I do feel that she could be a real factor in the merge…which leaves the two boys.)
(Speaking of which, Gary and Gohan are on water run.)
Gary: Still thinking about last night?
Gohan: Yeah. The past keeps making me think about the future.
Gary: As in voting?
Gohan: Yeah.
Gary: All three are possibles you know. Akane is the strongest aside from you, a threat in possible rewards and immunities later in the game. Nene is a demon of the mind, you can’t outthink her. And Sakura…well, last night, it showed that she may not be a team player.
Gohan: I’m not so sure about Sakura. All she did was keep her promise, her first one to Vivi.
Gary: She broke ours up though.
Gohan: I don’t recall her promising.
Gary: Huh?
Gohan: I don’t think she ever said ‘she promised to vote off Nene.’ Gary, I still think Sakura will work as a team, and in the merge, if us three work together, we still need all the help we can get.
Gary: (thinks) Maybe. I don’t think we need her voting against us. 3 girls vs. one innocent boy?
Gohan: (chuckles) You’re not that innocent.
Gary: Yeah, we’d all know I’d survive.
Gohan: What?
Gary: Uh…we’d better get that water?
Gohan: Hey, wait, why would they vote me off instead of you? (both run off, Gohan calling all the way)

(Shot of both beaches, the time, 10.00am.)
Misato: Both tribes have been secluded to their beach in today’s reward challenge, the last one for their tribes. With the material on the beach, and things they have been given, they will have to come up with an SOS signal for the plane which I’ll be on above the island will notice. The best message, in creativity, visuality and general plain brilliance will win the reward, consisting of this create, to be dropped by parachute. The time limit is a mere 2 hours, so they’ll have to get their skates on.

Julia: I think with such a short time, I think the best method would be to create a giant written message with either our hands or by stones.
Tenchi: I’ll make a fire as well, that will catch their attention.
Shinji: Everyone pitch in with your ideas, and we’ll sort one out as soon as possible.
(Shot of Helang.)
Nene: The Universal sign for distress is ‘X’, so I
think with only 2 hours, a giant X would suffice.
Akane: We need to make it more visible though, using fire?
Gohan: Why not, I don’t think we’ve got much else to go on.
(As the two tribes begin their tasks, it becomes obvious which one is going for creativity, and which one is going for visibility.)

Serena: (singing) TIME TO PLAY THE GAME!
Tenchi: What was that?
Serena: The author is a wrestling fan, go figure…
(Shot of Serena’s message in the sand, SAVE SIX SOON…)
Tenchi: Triple S. Heh.
(The fire that Tenchi lit is in bloom and a member takes it in turns to fan it out. Julia is gathering leaves to make the fire burn better whilst Chun-Li is using parts of bamboo to make a large SSS sign on the ground, with Serena marking smaller signs with her hands around it. Duo is planting large bamboo in the sand surrounding it, and Shinji is linking it with vines so it looks like a greenhouse…except there is fire in the middle of it.)
(Shot of Ulah, about an 1 hour and a half into it)
Gary: Are you sure this will work?
Nene: Just like a kerosine affect. Hopefully it will work….
(Nene creates a small fire on the end of a circle of leaves. On the other side, Gohan is doing the same thing. In the middle of this circle is a Giant X made out of many materials, such as wood, bamboo and leaves. Me thinks that we’ll need the fire extinguishers for this challenge soon…)
Nene: Work dammit!
(The fire however isn’t working as well as they don’t have enough time to light the whole ring, so instead, the group are content to light up a few spots of the ring.)
(The two hours have passed, and Misato along with navigation expert Ruri from Nadesico…O.K, I lied about the non-anime references, this is an exception I promise…check out the two beaches, starting with Ulah.)
(Shot from above the plane onto Ulah beach. Sticks of bamboo are surrounding a large ‘SAVE SIX SOON’ with similar messages posted around it. Tenchi is waving two sticks of fire as a large fire is blasted out. The rest of the tribe is waving like mad, like they need to be rescued.)
Ruri: (flat) Very creative. The work ethic was obviously large and a lot of thought and originality came into it.
Misato: O.K, let’s try Helang…
(Shot of Helang from the plane. We can see clearly the giant X, and the attempted circle of fire. It does seem to be burning, giving a nice chariots of fire effect. The 5 people are waving as well, trying to get their attention.)
Ruri: It’s large, and it definitely stands out with the fire, but I’ve made my decision. The winner is Ulah.
Misato: Ulah wins, O.K, let’s get their reward over there!
(A shot of the plane circling Ulah beach, and a shot of a parachute with a crate dropping into the sea. Ulah cheer out loud, whilst Helang don’t know the result yet. But when they sea the plane go over their beach…and then flying out into the distance, they know they’ve lost.)
Nene: It was simple, theirs was better than ours. We can’t blame ourselves for that, we tried our best.
Akane: We just need to go that extra mile in immunity then tomorrow.

(It takes over an hour for the crate to be brought back, but a nice combination of surprises awaits the group. As they open it, a combination of fruit & vegetables, plus soup and soda is in the crate. Also, basic equipment such as toilet paper, bowls, blankets, pillows and a sharp knife is among the provides brought to them.)
Serena: A bit of food and a bit of comfort, life is sweet.
Duo: So are the sodas! (Toss one to Shinji)
Tenchi: (smiles) And now, in good health…
Chun: …let us all drink these cold sodas!
(All clink their cans and guzzle the drink down as fast as possible. Each breathe with a resounding ‘AAHH…’)
Julia: Ah…I never felt this taste could ever feel so good.
Serena: Should we try and finish the food before the merge?
Duo: Gonna be difficult, besides are you really that cold-hearted Serena?
Serena: You’ve been with me for two weeks and you still haven’t figured it out?
(All chuckle.)
Tenchi: I tell you though, with all these vitamins, we’re gonna be strong for immunity. For everyone who doesn’t like the food, tough, we need it.
Duo: And if you really don’t like the food…can I have your share?
Chun-Li: Oh boy…mouth like a monster…
Shinji: I’d guess you’d know about that huh Chun?
Chun: Huh? What did you say?
Shinji: Oh…nothing…(realizes his mistake and drinks his soda)

(Helang are eating a portion of rice, some are adding some sugar on it for flavour like Nene and Gary. Sakura is talking with Gohan by the sea and Akane is drying out their laundry.)
Sakura: I never realised how cut-throat this game could be.
Gohan: Sakura…last night, I don’t blame you, and I sure as heck don’t hate you. We need to be strong, and I need you to be strong.
Sakura: Tomorrow is immunity…and if we lose…
Gohan: I am going to hold my hand out now, and you are going to shake it. You are not going to be voted off tomorrow, I promise, as long as you vote with me and Gary tomorrow. The alliance will live on…although I don’t have to like it as times.
Sakura: But I like Nene and Akane…
Gohan: (smiles for a second) I know, but just promise you follow through with me, as if we go down, as a team, we need to be strong. Promise?
Sakura: (smiles for a brief second) Promise.
(She clasps his hand. Gohan doesn’t let go for a second and looks in Sakura’s eyes. Sakura notices and blushes slightly. Gohan eventually lets go, but is trying his best to hide his own blush.)
Gohan: Er…thank you Sakura.
Sakura: You too…Gohan.
(Both rejoin the group)
(Gohan: Having Sakura back on the side is a big plus. However, what I said may be more of an impact to her than she may think. I will carry out my promise though, but perhaps in a surprising way…)
(Sakura: Gohan….Gohan is probably the closest I’m with of the tribe. The others I get along with great but Gohan and I almost seem like family…*blushes* at times, sometimes more I feel…)
Akane: What did you two lovebirds talk about?
Sakura/Gohan: What? (everyone notices their blushes)
Nene: Well, you’re blushing…
Sakura: Makes no difference…Ash and Misty have blushed a
couple of times but they haven’t gotten together?
Gary: Hey, I didn’t know Ashy liked the redhead…
Gohan: If this turns into another Ash campaign of hatred, I am out of here.
Gary: (smiles) O.K, I’ll do it, and it’ll give me an excuse to vote off Gohan.
Gohan: You are so lucky I’m not allowed to use super saiyan powers…
Nene: Well, so much for teasing….but still, (stars in her eyes) I THINK IT’S CUTE!
(all sweatdrop…including the author…)

(As the teams prepare to drop off for the night, another storm is approaching. This one could be the worst yet.)
(Shot of Ulah, inside their shelter, huddled as close to together in their new blankets. Shinji of course, notices that Duo and Chun-Li have snuggled very close whilst Julia is lying as close to Tenchi as possible. Serena at the end, is asleep soundly. However, apart from Shinji, there is one other member awake.)
Shinji: It’s silly, but I should just confront them. I mean, I don’t mind or anything it’s just…
Tenchi: Awkward.
(Shinji turns as the thunder comes down and Tenchi sits up, smiling at Shinji)
Shinji: YOU CHEAT, YOU WERE AWAKE?
(Yes, my homage to the first Eva ep I ever saw, the line is;
Asuka: I know you were trying to kiss me whilst I was sleeping.
Shinji: YOU CHEAT, YOU WERE AWAKE?
Asuka: Oh my god, I was just kidding, did you really try and kiss me?)
Tenchi: You are observant Shinji, but don’t worry yourself too much.
Shinji: Worry? I was nervous about comforting you…
Tenchi: (shakes his head, still smiling) Myself and Julia hold a special friendship that we hope to carry on the ages. I think she is a beautiful down to earth woman, something which has sadly been lacking in my household to say the least.
Shinji: Especially on the Earth part.
Tenchi: I am attracted to her, but only on the knowledge that we probably won’t see each other again. Plus the fact that if a couple of certain girls knew about this, they would hunt her down to the ends of the earth.
Shinji: Good point. (Looks at Duo/Chun) You knew about them too?
Tenchi: (nods) You’re not the only one who can stay awake for a long time too. I noticed them head out the same time you did, but I stayed in. I wanted to talk to you, thinking you may have spotted us.
Shinji: I did think it was you two when they left, I admit.
Tenchi: Shinji, don’t let us get you down. We’re here as close friends and partners, but as I said, we’d probably never see each other after this.
Shinji: I know…I guess I was afraid…and a bit jealous as well.
Tenchi: Afraid and jealous?
Shinji: Yeah. With the fear that I could go at any second. With you two couples, I flt that I was the sacrifice…
Tenchi: (realizing the situation) You seemed to be the odd one out. Shinji, (steps over to him) don’t tell anyone this. (whispers) After Serena, I wouldn’t mind voting out Chun-Li.
Shinji: (shocked) Huh, but why?
Tenchi: She hasn’t done that much, is a bit of an airhead, and the only thing we have in common is our martial arts. Julia is much more down to earth, and Duo is a straight forward guy who has a laugh, and you are our resident mother, and the one that keeps us all in line. I reckon you could still survive for quite a while…but jealousy?
Shinji: (blushes) I guess it’s because you seem to have someone in your life, where I won’t.
Tenchi: Well…what about those two girls?
Shinji: Asuka and Rei? Sure, they’re both attractive, but as people, they seem to be ones I cannot connect with outside of work. Rei is a stone person, whilst has shown signs of affection to me at time, is basically very quiet and reserved, I feel nervous around her. And Asuka…well, there is a reason why we call her the devil girl…and it isn’t because we feel horny around her, let me tell you.
Tenchi: (quietly chuckles) So…
Shinji: I guess I’m sorry for doubting you Tenchi, it is, believe it or not, the fact that I do want to win this game.
Tenchi: I could tell. This is one thing you are determined to see through aren’t you.
Shinji: Yes, and you too as well. I guess I’ll say…thanks.
Tenchi: Anytime. Now, let’s go to sleep before people suspect that WE’RE going steady.
Shinji: In this rain? No thanks. (both laugh and settle down to sleep…)

(Helang)
(Similar story. Gary is asleep as is Akane, holding something to her kinda of like P-Chan. Nene can sleep like a log anyway beside her. However, a quiet talk between Gohan and Sakura as the storm unfolds…)
Sakura: When I was young, storms were a part of Tori’s stories. He’d try to scare me with ghosts…I guess my fear started then.
Gohan: A lot of my friends back home train in storms, but not me. My power derives from by blood and my own self.
Sakura: Maybe so, but this one is so bad, and with everything happening recently…
(A large bolt crashes and Sakura yelps and clutches onto Gohan. Gohan is speechless as Sakura is shivering in his arms…)
Gohan: (quietly) Shh…it’s O.K, just a thunderbolt, calm down Sakura-chan.
Sakura: (looks at Gohan) Sakura-chan…
Gohan: (blushes) Well, you are a little kawaii Sakura aren’t you.
Sakura: (also blushes) Gohan-kun…
(Sakura holds onto him a big longer and clutches his hand. Gohan feels like Sakura is falling asleep in his arms so he helps her into her blanket, and nests beside her. They fall asleep…but Gohan is holding her hand softly.)

(Day 16, 6.23am, Helang tribe)
Misato: Very little sleep thanks to the storm for some members has made things difficult as preparation for today’s immunity is vital.
(Shot of Akane rubbing the sunlight and sleep from her eyes. She is the first one up amazingly. Mind snoring is coming from Nene as Akane is about to wake them up…then she notices Gohan and Sakura.)
(A shot of the two 11 year olds, on a guess, very snug together and it is clearly shown that the two are holding hands. Akane smiles, but decides not to tell anyone else. Instead, she gently breaks Sakura’s hand from Gohan’s. Sakura stirs slightly as Akane gently shakes her.)
Akane: Sakura…you awake?
Sakura: (groggily) Er…Akane…that you?
Akane: It’s me, like it was 5 minutes ago when I woke up, and 5 minutes later when I get everyone else up.
Sakura: (smiles) You’re good at order aren’t you Akane?
Akane: Trust me, with my family I need to be the stone brick. My father is a real Jekyll and Hyde, Kasumi is too sweet, Nabiki is a money hungry cynic, and of course, Ranma and Genma need no introduction, so let’s get our little family up…otherwise…(whispers in her ear)
Sakura: NO, anything but that threat!
Akane: Hey, it’ll work.
Sakura: O.K, let’s try it.
(Akane leaves the tent as Sakura fondly looks at Gohan for a second, before shouting out loud)
Sakura: Guys, Akane’s cooking breakfast!
(Within seconds, Gohan has his eyes open ready to tackle Akane into stopping the torture. Gary and Nene also snap awake, scared of poisoning before the immunity. Then, they realise they’ve been tricked.)
Akane: Ha, got ya.
Nene: Meanie! (bobs her tongue at Akane) I guess we had to get up, but to scare us like that…
Gary: Are you sure this is Survivor and not the Mole?
Akane: Hey I resent that!
Sakura: Anyway, Gary, isn’t it your turn to cook anyway?
Gary: Right. Don’t you worry, the great Gary Oak will soon prepare a meal fit for kings…
Gohan: In other words, the two rats that washed at sea and some rice.
Gary: Rats?
Nene: The fish has gone rotten now, we can’t eat any more. The last chicken is being saved for tonight…
(Shot of the chicken in it’s case, by the tent. It was covered by a piece of bamboo and blanket to protect it from the storm, can’t have the meal washed away now can we…)
Akane: So, just a small breakfast. Nene, you wanna wash them and Gary, great ready for some skinning.
Gary: (tired) Yes maam…
(All go and do their duties)
(Gary: Akane is starting to get a bit too bossy for her boots, and if we lose immunity, I’ve got a choice between three girls. Although Gohan has insisted Sakura is with us, I don’t trust her. However, Akane and Nene are more likely going to be in the hot seat.)

(Ulah tribe)
(Misato: Ulah are enjoying a nice breakfasts of the fish and junk food variety, saving up as much energy for today’s immunity, which is going to be extremely physical.)
Tenchi: Cooking up a storm…
Shinji: Please, can you not mention the word storm…
Julia: (calling) We’re back!
Duo: And we’ve got water!
Tenchi: O.K, just don’t give into temptation and dump some on Serena.
(Shot of Serena in the camp, only just getting up)
Tenchi: You always sleep like that?
Shinji: She can sleep on a washing line.
Serena: Hey, not all of us have an early alarm clock ringing in our heads every day. (smirks) Maybe old age is causing this.
Chun-Li: (overhearing) What?
Shinji: Er, correct me if I’m wrong, but we are all at the maximum about 4 years older than you, I’m only about 5 months older than you Serena, Chun is about a year older, and Duo is the same age.
Serena: Hey, don’t need to get all philosophical, it was a joke!
Chun-Li: JOKE? YOU NEVER MOCK A WOMAN’S AGE!
Serena: Chun, I’m a woman too in case you forgot…
Duo: (smacks his head) I’m getting a headache just from their gossip... I don’t suppose anyone brought some aspirin as their luxury item…
Tenchi: As luck would have it…no.
(all sweatdrop)
Julia: Relax, they’re just hyper from sugar rush. Serena will get some down and all will be right (and normal-ish) in the world.
Shinji: You’re right…as always. Let’s just get today done and hopefully we’ll get the 6 to 4 advantage by tomorrow.
Chun: Right, then Helang won’t know what hit them.
Duo: Oh, it’s true, it’s damn true.

(Shot of both tribes ready for immunity. Misato is at the helm, ready and waiting.)
Misato: Welcome Ulah and Helang, for this is your final tribal immunity. In 2 days time, the tribes will merge into one complete tribe, where you will be competing for individual rewards and immunity. This is the final time to test yourselves as a team.
(Shot of various impliments of the jungle, wood, bamboo, vines, rocks, etc.)
Misato: This challenge will test your physical strengths to the limit. In a moment, you will began to build a stretcher for one person to fit on it. After the 15 minutes, one member will be taken into the jungle where they will be trapped in a tree. 4 of the remaining tribe members (thus Ulah will have to lose one member) will then located this person and put them on the stretcher. They will race back and the first person who puts their member on this immunity rock (shot of the rock with the yellow/blue colour symbols of the two tribes) wins the final immunity. Ulah, first you must drop one member, and then both tribes, pick a person to be rescued.
(Ulah begin discussing. They choose Serena to be the one to be dropped, which she accepts, knowing that if they lose, she’s going anyway, whilst in the rescue department, there is disagreement on who is the lightest between Julia and Chun-Li. However, Chun is the one eventually they decide on.)
(Helang have a disagreement too with the rescued. Sakura is obviously the lightest yet Gary would rather have Nene on there. It is obvious that he doesn’t trust her. Despite this, Sakura is the one to be rescued.)
Gohan: Just don’t all rely on me here O.K?
Akane: Don’t worry Gohan. We’re with you.
Nene: All the way!
Gary: Let’s win this one.
(Ulah)
Julia: All the muscle in the world isn’t going to help if we don’t have teamwork.
Duo: Which we have in spades.
Shinji: All we have to do is win.
Tenchi: Which we will. Let’s do this.

(As Sakura and Chun are getting roped up, they begin their 15 minutes to build a stretcher…)
(Shots of both groups working. Nene as always, seems to know what she is doing, and using herself as the guinea pig, seem to work out a reasonable stretcher using the bamboo and vines. Ulah do similar in that respect, with Julia working hard in figuring out the dynamics. Eventually, time runs out and both teams with stretchers in hand, are ready.)

Misato: This challenge needs more than power, teamwork and co-ordination are also vital. If both tribes are ready…
(The tense silence greets Misato)
Misato: GO!
(The two tribes go into the jungle. Initially Ulah get the better start because all 4 members are similar in speed and stature. However, a bit of power from Gohan starts to help the others, and they are close as they go through the brush.)

Sakura: Come on guys!
Chun: Let’s win this!
(Back to the race, Gohan’s team are now starting to push as the co-ordination between the 4 is starting to gel. Gohan is using less power now but the speed is picking up. Meanwhile, Ulah are struggling to get over some logs and some brush. Helang start to go ahead.)
Gary: I can hear them, now remember guys, Sakura is the shorter girl, O.K?
Nene: GARY!
(Helang begin to continue before they see the trees. Chun looks disappointed as Helang come first, Sakura cheering them on.)
Sakura: Come on guys, get me off here so we can win this!
(Gohan climbs up and simply rips off the ropes, holding Sakura with one arm so she doesn’t fall. He gently drops off and puts Sakura on the stretcher however shows that Nene and Gary are both physically spent.)
Gohan: Onwards back to the beach.
(As they begin to leave, Ulah enter. They ignore Helang and concentrate on getting Chun down.)
Chun: Let’s hurry up quickly!
(Duo’s effort to get Chun down is not so gentle, as when he puts her on the stretcher, he drops her.)
Chun (rubbing her behind) OW!
Tenchi: Never mind, it was quick, let’s go!
(Ulah quickly shoot off, none of them look as tired as Nene, although Shinji is faltering a bit. Suddenly, a breakthrough.)
(Helang are slowing down visibly and disaster strikes. Nene and Gary both fall as Sakura falls off the stretcher. The other three quickly raise them up.)
Gohan: Come on guys, not far left.
Nene: I’m spent.
Gary: Same here…but (coughs) we gotta go on…
(With effort, the Helang members continue on, but Ulah is now right behind them. However, they seem to be slowing down as well as they head out of the jungle.)
(Misato see thems exit and it’s is virtually neck and neck. Suddenly, Shinji collapses as Helang go about 3 feet ahead of them before Nene falters again. Both teams take a moment to catch their breath and Shinji and Nene are both ready.)
(With less than 5 metres to go, both teams are slow in getting there. However, Nene falls again and this time, stays down, completely out of breath. Gary also is exhausted. With great effort and seeing Helang fall at the final hurdle, Ulah grit their teeth and place the stretcher with Chun-Li on it, and win immunity.)
Ulah: YEEEEESSSSS! (Shot of the girls including Serena leaping into the tribe, glomping the male members, some are shedding tears of happiness. On Helang side, it is tears of defeat as Nene and Sakura are showing, Gary is spent, but is looking at the sky in defiance.)
Misato: Well, a close effort, and it obviously took a lot out of all of you, but Ulah, you win immunity, and in what has to be a first in Survivor anime fics, we have a tribe with an advantage in the merge. Helang, sadly, tonight is your final night as a tribe, but you will lose one comrade. I think it’s time for all of you to reflect what is going to happen. I ask if you should return to your beaches.
(Shot of Ulah elated, as Julia gives a kiss to both Shinji and Tenchi and hugs everyone. Akane has an arm around Nene, crying her eyes out. Gohan is shushing a tearful Sakura whilst Gary’s eyes show stone silence.)

Helang tribe: 4.34pm.
(Misato: The sombre and tearful mood of the camp is rather appropriate as they know they will lose another member, and be down 6 to 4 in the merge. However, instead of trying to bond together, too members vent out their frustration on each other.)
Gary: You did it again! You fell at the final hurdle!
Nene: I said I was sorry, what more do you want, blood? And in case you forgot, you fell as well half way….
Gary: Yes, but you fell 3 times, we needed that immunity, you knew it, they knew it, I knew it, and guess what? Once again, Nene screws up!
Akane: Uh oh.
Nene: (pissed off) I AM NOT A SCREW UP!
Gohan: Guys, I think you’re taking this way too f…
Gary: Stay out of this Gohan!
Gohan: O.K, Jeez, go let it out of your systems…
Sakura: Akane, why don’t you stop them?
Akane: Trust me, these two are more stubborn than me and Ranma combined, and that’s saying something…
Gary: ALL THE BRAINS IN THE WORLD WON’T HELP YOU IN THIS GAME!
Nene: WELL, IF YOUR **** WAS A BIG AS YOUR EGO THEN…
(Akane fortunately covered Sakura’s and Gohan’s ears in time, knowing Nene’s temper.)
Sakura: Guys, we’re gonna cook the last chicken. If you care to join us, we’ll be waiting….
(Sakura, Gohan and Akane head back as Nene and Gary continue arguing, before they realise they’ve been left alone.)
Gary: Huh?
Nene: Where’d everyone go?
Gary: You must have scared them away….
Nene: Me? What about you?
Gary: What about me? What about…
(Shot of Gohan snapping the neck of the chicken before Sakura starts to cook it.)
Nene/Gary: HEY, WAIT FOR US!

(Ulah tribe)
(Misato: A celebration is in order as the feast is spread out with some remaining reward bits and pieces plus a lobster caught by Julia and Shinji. The fire is burning and the group is enjoying what could be the decisive advantage in the game.)
Serena: 6 to 4. Everyone here now has a good chance of winning.
Chun-Li: Very true. Now, which one of the visitors should we target first…
Duo: Gohan looks a serious threat. If he stays tonight, he should be our first target.
Tenchi: Yes, the others don’t look as dangerous. We can observe them when they come here.
Julia: Nene can change the game I think, she has got a great deal of intelligence, she’ll have to watch out.
Shinji: If she survives tonight, it looked like the group weren’t too happy with her after that game…which I’m sorry for nearly costing us.
Julia: It’s O.K Shinji, you didn’t cost us, and we’re not going to vote you off.
(all smile)
(Shinji: The atmosphere has really calmed down after the last immunity. We know we have the distinct advantage now with 6 Ulah to 4 Helang, and the plan seems to be getting rid of each one at a time.)
(Julia: There is safety in numbers, and the nature of this game means that Helang is the minority. We need to take advantage of that…unless something drastically goes wrong in Ulah and Helang persuades someone…)
(Tenchi: I’m much more pessimistic. I’m sure that Serena and possibly even Shinji or Chun-Li could be persuaded to vote against us. Helang don’t seem as annoying or bloodthirsty as some members in this group, so I’ve got my strategy down.)
(Serena: I’m safe!)

(Helang tribe)
Akane: I think you two should apologise. One of us is leaving tomorrow and I don’t want it to end on a sour note.
Gary: (sighs) You know, you’re right Akane, I guess the frustration finally got to me. I’m so used to winning y’know.
Sakura: What about you Nene?
Nene: Well…I guess I’m sorry. I’m just not used to working with my body without my hardsuit, it is physically much more tiresome than I thought.
Gohan: O.K, you two, shake and let’s go to sleep, tomorrow is going to be a horrid night to say the least.
(Nene and Gary shakes hands a bit timidly as Akane, Sakura and Gohan nod. They all head into the tent.)
Gary: (to himself) She’s my target.
Nene: (to herself) He’s my target.

DAY 17: Ulah Tribe, 7.20am.
(Serena, the last Ulah member to get up, stretches out and heads to the ocean to wash her face.)
(Serena: Since day one, and my problems with Davis, I’ve been in a target. People have had problems with me, and these last 6 days, I’ve felt that my head was in a noose. If immunity hadn’t happened I was gone. But now, I feel I stand a good chance of winning. I have plans, and with 4 unsuspecting people dropping in, this could get really interesting.)
(Shot of Julia and Tenchi lying in the sand, trying hard not to go to sleep, but they do have their eyes open.)
Tenchi: This heat isn’t bothering me anymore.
Julia: I’m used to the humidity back home.
Tench: Yeah. Hey Julia?
Julia: Yeah?
Tenchi: Do you think we have a chance of winning this?
Julia: (smiles) I don’t doubt it. Through everything, our alliance has remained strong, and out of everyone here, I feel that we are the closest. Duo & Chun don’t seem to have the mature bond between them, Shinji is quiet and reserved, and could see himself isolated. And Serena…well…
Tenchi: I’m just wondered if we would vote for each other if it was forced upon us…
Julia: (smiles) Unless it comes to the final three and the other person wins immunity, I am 99% sure my paper won’t read your name Tenchi Masaki.
Tenchi: What about the other 1%?
Julia: Just covering all my bases….(both giggle)
(Shot of Chun and Duo exiting the jungle)
Chun: Water’s here!

Shinji: Breakfast done!
Serena: Let’s eat!
(Misato: Ulah eat with the comfort of immunity and a huge advantage after this tribal council. However, on Helang, the talk of eviction is high…)

(Helang, 11.00am.)
(Misato: The two distinct alliances of the tribe have split off to do their duties. Akane and Nene on water and laundry, whilst Sakura, Gohan and Gary try and bit of fishing. However, as there always is, there is more than meets the eye…)
(Shot of Akane/Nene)
Akane: There is 2 of us, and three of them. It seems a lost cause.
Nene: Don’t be so sure. Sakura didn’t vote for me yesterday, maybe she’ll do it again tonight…
Akane: Possibly. So, Gary?
Nene: Yeah, I think with just 4 people left, we need all the calm we can get. Sakura and Gohan I say are more level headed than Gary, and together, we need all the harmony we can get.
Akane: Well, Nene, if this is the last time we spend together, I hope it’s for the best.
(The two girls embrace as Nene silently sheds a tear, expecting to go tonight.)
(However, in the Poke-Captor Z alliance, things are not all as they seem…)
Gary: I’m sorry Sakura, but I’m voting for Nene.
Sakura: But why? Why not Akane…poor Nene has suffered so much…
Gary: Why Akane then?
Sakura: Er….
Gary: (smiles) See. Not so easy to choose, and I feel that Nene is the one that needs to go. Unless you want your name on it….
Sakura: Of course not! It’s just…
Gohan: (Just entering the scene) Sakura.
Sakura: (looks at him) Yeah…
Gohan: Remember, I promised that I wouldn’t vote for you if you went along with what we discussed. Now, Gary has said Nene, and this is an alliance. I don’t like it anymore than you do, but you promised…
Sakura: (looks down, very quiet….)
Gohan: Sakura, please…
Sakura: O…K….
Gohan: Say it Sakura. Please…
Sakura: (very quietly) O.k. I promise, I’ve vote for Nene. I won’t like it, but I will. She has cost us a couple of immunities, that’s my reason.
Gary: (smiles) It’s 3 on 2. I’m not sure how Akane will like it…
(All leave, but Gohan looks at them for a moment, and a small smile creeps on his face.)

7.00pm.
(The rest of the day has passed, and Helang as their final night as a tribe go through the long journey known as Tribal Council. Passing through the mud volcano, we see Sakura, Nene, Akane and Gohan take a dip with Gary the only one refusing.)
(Shot of Sakura hitting the gong as the 5 remaining members of Helang take their seats. Misato comes up and greets them.)
Misato: Well my friends, today is your final tribal council as a tribe, as tomorrow, the merge starts. Gary, last time, you said that you were sure that there will be all 5 members of Helang left, that hasn’t happened, so what are your thoughts?
Gary: The last two challenges Ulah have won by a bit of luck for them, and a bit of miscmmunication from us. They had their luck, and they’ve held on to it. We weren’t as lucky and we’re paying for it.
Misato: Very well. Akane, with one going today, and Helang down to 4, this puts you at a real disadvantage going into tomorrow. Can you be sure of survival in 3 days time?
Akane: If I’m still here, I know that if tribal loyalities are as strong here as there have been here, it is going to be very difficult for former Helang to survive. We need to unite and have some luck, and some more luck. Failing that, I’ll just beat the crap out of the ones that don’t know martial arts.
(all giggle)
Misato: Poor Shinji, he’s gonna be in for a rude awakening. Final question, this to Nene. I feel that you seem to feel the blame for the last few challenges. This is a difficult situation for you I know, so what’s going to happen?
(Nene looks around at the group and sighs)
Nene: Am I going tonight? I think I might, but I’m not giving up until the very end. Until I’m called up to that pedesal, I won’t say I’m gone until I am.
Misato: Wise words Miss Nene. With that note, please take us into Tribal Council.
(Shot of Nene walking up to the pedesal. She writes down on her paper, ‘GARY’.)
Nene: He’s starting to develop an ego, and has made my life very difficult. We need unity going into the merge, not revolution.
(Shot of Gary voting. His says ‘NENE.’)
Gary: Nene, brains are everything, but without brawn in this game, it’s useless, and thus, so are you.
(Shot of Akane voting, not seeing her vote. Then Sakura, which has ‘NENE’ on it.)
Sakura: This vote doesn’t come from the heart Nene, I’m sorry.
(Finally, Gohan votes. We don’t see it.)
Misato: Thank you Nene, now I’ll tally the votes.
(Misato takes the container, and takes out the votes one at a time.)
Misato: Nene.
(Nene sighs, as Akane puts an arm around her friend.)
Misato: Nene.
(Nene looks down and whispers ‘It’s me.’)
Misato: Gary.
(Gary nods.)
Misato: Gary.
(Gary nods again, although he does have a panicked look in his eyes.)
Misato: 2 for Nene, 2 for Gary. Will there be a tie-breaker or is this final paper be the final exile. The last vote is for…
(Turns it over and gasps over 4 members of the group.)
Misato: Gary.
(Gary is stunned, he can’t believe. He looks over at Sakura and Gohan, Sakura is just as shocked, yet Gohan is stone.)
Misato: Gary, could you come up and collect your torch please?
(Gary, still a bit shellshocked, goes to his torch and picks it up and goes up to Misato.)
Misato: As you know Gary, fire represents your life on this island. Well, your life on this island has now ended, could you please extinguish your flame please?
(Gary does so, his arms shaking.)
Misato: The tribe has spoken. Could you please leave?
(Gary turns, has a look at the remaining members, but then smiles.)
Gary: I didn’t expect it, it caught me cold. It shows that there are some smart people working here. I guess I deserved it after all my shouting at you Nene, so I’m sorry.
(Gary shakes the hands of the two girls, and gives Sakura a small hug. He then goes to Gohan.)
Gary: (whispers) Take care of them…as you took care of me.
Gohan: (smiles) Sorry man.
Gary: You played the game, I can’t argue with that.
(The two shake hands and Gary takes off into exile.)
Misato: Well, the remaining Helang tribe, you have survived this crucial tribal council, and please return to your beach, as we prepare for the merge tomorrow.
(All leave)
GARY
Gary: When I saw I was voted off it was a mixture of shock, surprise, sadness and betrayal. I looked over, thinking it was Sakura, and I noticed the look in Gohan’s eyes. I realised it was him, which was why I wasn’t angry.
(Shot of Akane with her vote ‘GARY’)
Akane: I think the island is starting to bring the worst in your character Gary, so it’s time for you to go before you really start to hurt someone.
Gary: Gohan isn’t only a physical wonder, he’s smart, and I think he and Nene could turn Ulah upside down. I will be rooting for them because I did enjoy myself there, I just let myself get out of control, and I think that was what cost me in the end.
(Shot of Gohan with the crucial vote, ‘GARY’)
Gohan: I promised Sakura to vote with you but I never promised myself. Gary, sadly, you have been a great companion for a lot of this time, but it does seem that you want to go. Take care pal, and don’t let this vote go in vain, I won’t forget the fun times in our alliance, and we’ll miss you.
Gary: Helang, all the best. You’ll need it.

Misato: Gary was the most well rounded member of the team. Looking for companionship, he quickly got within the group, and made a friendship and alliance with Sakura and Gohan. However, as time went on, his more aggressive personality shook up the boundaries of the Helang tribe, affecting everyone, esepcially Nene, and in a close vote, the decisive Gohan surprise vote sent him into exile.

Here, I’ll give you a bit of info on Nene Romanova. There have been a lot of versions of Nene because like the Tenchi series, there are various versions of the BGC series. There was the original OVA, The 2032/33 series, and the Bubblegum Crash movie…to the current 2040 version where this Nene is based from.
Unlike the Tenchi series though, the character is very different in each version, both look wise and personality. In each version Nene is still the intelligent, slightly ditzy member of the Knight Sabers, and in each of them is the weakest fighter, but is a genius hacker to make up for that. In 2033, Nene is a red (pinkish) haired girl, nervous a bit, and still in the pink hardsuit. In the 2040 version, played by one of my fave ADV actresses, Hilary Haag (Arp met her, lucky something or other…and his programme was vandalised by Tiffany Grant, my all time fave…lucky ba…), she has a blond crew cut, and defines cute (not Ruri or Shinobu like cute, more like Sakura from Street Fighter or Ami from Sailor Moon cute) especially in her skin tight suit…^_^…also, she is in love with Mackey Stingray in this version, compared to the 2033 where they are just friends (and Mackey in 2033 is a pervert…whilst in 2040, he’s a very important part to the end of the plot…). I highly recommend the series, and whilst many prefer the original, I’m not like normal people. J
