ANIME AND VIDEO GAME SURVIVOR

THE FINAL JUDGEMENT

Kinda appropriate…O.K, Sakura isn’t in the final two, but hey, what ya gonna do?

The conclusion of this bloody difficult fic is nigh…and then I can rest….yeah right, with AOTA still to finish, plus two more survivors to prepare…AND YES, I’M PLANNING A SECOND MOLE FIC AS WELL…remind me to locate a social life sometime between now and the year 2032. ^_^

And now let’s take you to the conclusion. Who is it? The Tekken girl or the Saiyan Boy? The most unlikely result apart from practically all the World Cup…and if anyone mentions a certain South American Team, I’ll just do a Brock..

(sulks) ‘Don’t mention that name…’

NOTE: This is a shorter alternative version of the final episode, no crap, no reunion, just results…and as someone said a long time ago, that’s the way…uh huh…uh huh…I like it!

DAY 38, AFTER TRIBAL COUNCIL

(Shot of a large fire as Julia and Gohan are whooping with joy that they made it)

Akito VO: The two finalists are obviously happy to get this far, as the fire stands out as they have a nice warm night for two.

(Another shot, this time of the two lying down, not in the tent, just relaxing by the fire.)

Julia: Can I ask you a couple of questions Gohan?

Gohan: Of course mom. (Gohan smiles)

Julia: (smiles) First of all, just wanted to ask if you thought you’d be here now.

Gohan: In all honesty….no.

Julia: Really?

Gohan: (nods head) I should have been gone a while ago if luck hadn’t intervened. All the times I didn’t have immunity, luck somehow came through. First Serena went on general consent…and then for some reason you chose Akane over me…

Julia: That was kinda my idea.

Gohan: Huh? I thought you and Akane got along real well…

Julia: Exactly. I knew if she stayed on too long then it would be more and more difficult to try and vote her off. I felt I needed to get rid of her before I got too attached I suppose…

Gohan: Never thought you’d be seen as a bit selfish.

Julia: I guess it was…people went with Akane, and it was indirectly because of me.

Gohan: The next time I didn’t have immunity was when Chun went off, for obvious reasons…

(Julia nods)

Gohan: …and then it was because of you again when Shinji went off.

(She nods again)

Gohan: Why was that?

Julia: (sighs) I was going to ask you a similar thing. For me, it was I felt that the four of us generally deserved it. However, I want to ask you that as well.

Gohan: Huh?

Julia: Why did you pick me over Tenchi to get into the final?

(Gohan smiles)

Gohan: You just said it.

Julia: Huh?

Gohan: I felt you deserved to be here Julia, you’ve taken good care of us even though we were from the opposite tribe. You were like a mother to Sakura and I, and the true spokeswoman of the island. And also…

Julia: Also…

Gohan: (smiled) This may come back to haunt me, but I wanted to see some of the jury members sweat a bit.

Julia: Huh?

Gohan: I guess I might as well tell you now, but when old Helang seemed ready to be picked off, both Akane and Nene initially said if Julia got into the final two, they were going to vote for her. Of course, Nene may have had a problem if it was you and Shinji, but hey…

Julia: (blushes) Go on.

Gohan: Anyway, I just want to see what Akane and Nene do. I’m 99% confident Sakura will vote for me, as I am sure that Tenchi will vote for you, but I want to see if Akane sticks with Tribal loyalty or goes for a stronger friendship…

Julia: (smiles) Your right. That could come back to haunt me.

Gohan: Hey, I’m a Saiyan warrior. I didn’t get as far as I did without taking a few risks in my lifetime.

Julia: True. Do you think we should get some sleep now?

Gohan: Yeah. Big day tomorrow. You can take the tent, I’ll take the hammock.

Julia: Yes! A bed to myself at last!

(The two chuckled as they shared a small hug, almost like a son and mother, before the two retire for the night.)

* * * *

(Shot of the two quietly eating the last part of the rice, the anticipation of the final day is immense, and it’s almost like they wish they could will time to move faster.)

Julia: As much as I hate to do this, I think we need to remove everything from the island now.

Gohan: A clean up I suppose. I don’t want to destroy anything though.

Julia: We won’t. I wasn’t raised like that…and despite your enormous power, you seem like that as well…

Gohan: Er…well…

Julia: (nudges him) Sakura been influencing you?

Gohan: (embarrassed) Mom!

(The two chuckle as they began to dismantle their camp, for Julia’s case, her home since they started.)

(Fast forward to 2pm, where the two are catching their last rays of sun)

Julia: A nice cool breeze, this is perfect for the final day.

Gohan: Yeah, in a way, I’m glad it’s ending, and in another way, I’m not so glad.

Julia: Yeah, it’s been an experience hasn’t it?

Gohan: Yeah.

(both are silent for a moment)

Julia: I’m gonna go for a swim. You coming?

Gohan: Yeah. We gotta prepare what we gotta say for the jury as well, remember?

Julia: Of course. Don’t know if it will matter but…

Gohan: …hey, we got to humour them haven’t we?

(Both chuckle as they prepare to take one last dip in the ocean…)

Tribal Council

(Julia and Gohan enter side by side as the gong is hit. There are now two seats remaining, and a jury of nine waiting for them. Akito is on the left side of the jury, Misato is on the right. The front row is Akane, Nene, Chun and Duo. The back row is Shinji, Sakura and Tenchi.)

(A shot of flame shoots across the screen, and the next thing we see is Misato talking.)

Misato: Well, Julia Chang. Gohan Sonn. Over a month ago, you two started a journey where you could possibly win a million pounds. Today, you are two here, and that dream has become reality. Now, neither me or Akito will speak to you because we’ve seen and heard everything you’ve done…

Akito: …but these seven people I think need to hear your final words to them before they address you. For now, we’d like to hear what you have to say about your journey. So, ladies first, Julia?

(Julia stands up and speaks)

Julia: When I got up this morning to watch the final sunrise, I started to think about the words I could use to try and convince you to award me the worthy winner of one million pounds. It is an impossible task. To all accounts, you probably have decided already. I can’t explain how I got here easily. Alliances. Strategies. They were all in my head and got more complex as the game continued. Keeping one step ahead of the game is important, making decisions you don’t want to make…

(Akane and Shinji nod in the jury)

Julia: …I had a core alliance as you all know (Tenchi smiles) which indeed helped me get this far. I certainly have no hatred with any of you because you are all wonderful people in your own ways. Physically, mentally, spiritually, all these things could in survivor. But the one thing which is most important for me is heart. My heart was truly in the game here, and I think that was most for me, the game rather than the money.

(A few nods are in the jury)

Julia: I live in desert Arizona, where survival is a common thing. The Chang blood is down through Native American history. My mother Michelle wants to keep that going through me, I am not of her blood, yet I am a Chang. These things don’t matter me. What matters to me is the way I see things, which is why I feel I got this far. These are the words I choose to decide whether I am worthy or not for your consideration. I thank you.

(Julia sits down, and Gohan stands to address the ladies and gentlemen of the jury)

Gohan: When I first came to this island, I felt nothing could surprise me anymore. When you’ve lived the kind of life I have, nothing will surprise you the next sunrise you see. Every sunrise I’ve seen on this isle though has been an extradordinary sight. Survivor has been a life-changing experience for me, that is for sure.

(He pauses before continuing)

Gohan: From minute one, I was going to be a target. My physical strength is what got me this far, but I was always ready to be cast off. I felt that was more respect than malice, because you respected my strength. I actually felt honoured for that. Luck is another factor of survivors, sometimes you have more than others. I felt that I certainly did during the later changes of the game. My strategy was that, try to be myself and take it each day as it comes. I knew there was no point staying under the radar, you knew I was going to be a threat. But luck intervened with me at times, whether for better or worse for some of the jury.

(Chun-Li nods)

Gohan: I just like to say that voting off Tenchi last time was the worst, because I had to cast the vote to destroy one of your chances. I felt like I was killing someone. I just want everyone to remember everything you can about me overall. Not incidents, but the qualities of myself and of Julia throughout the stay of the island. Then decide who you think is more deserving.

(Gohan steps down as both survivors breathe a sigh of relief as Akito takes the pedesal)

Akito: Well, I think it’s now time for our jury to question you two, starting with the order of when they were voted off. So Akane, if you will?

(First member of the jury: Akane Tendo – 9th overall. Akane takes to the stand and flashes a smile)

Akane: Hello Julia. Hello Gohan. Former tribesmate and good friend Gohan, as well as newer tribesmate and good friend Julia. I’m sure the two of you are feeling nervous, as am I, and it’s good that I can communicate without the use of T-Shirts now. So, my question is simple. How would you cope with winning a million?

Julia: I know from experience that money doesn’t bring you happiness. I was raised to respect my family, and I was wedded to hard work. The money would not change me, simple as that.

Gohan: I’ve been schooled for most of my young life, quality of life is what you achieve yourself. Whether or not the money can help you do that, helping your family happier and more comfortable, that is where the money becomes an issue.

(Akane nods and goes back to her seat. The second member of the jury rises: Nene Romanova – 8th overall.)

Nene: Hi guys! (both flash a smile at Nene) In my line of work, focus is such an important factor between life and death. So I want to find out what you have learnt about yourself in the last forty days.

Julia: I found out that whilst I am an independent girl, I am far more comfortable around other people than I expected. I have found out that throughout my life on the island, and cutting people off gave me no satisfaction.

Gohan: I have found out that I have a split personality, one good and one evil. (The jury chuckles) Seriously, I think that about myself, I felt that all the strength of the world can’t win a million pounds. The will, heart and determination of the person makes you a winner, and I think I’ve found that during my stay.

(Nene bows politely and leaves. Next comes Chun-Li, which could be interesting. Third member of the jury – 7th overall.)

Chun: Certainly congratulations are in order, and believe it or not, I hold no bitterness. My question is simple. What did you truly think of my actions the day I left?

(The silence is…well silent. Eventually, Julia manages to speak.)

Julia: I can’t say that I was pleased with your actions…but until that moment, we had got along quite well. I kept to my guns and didn’t vote against you when others did. I felt that survivor was starting to bring the worst out of you, and I hoped that I could try and get you back after council. Unfortunately, Shinji and Tenchi stopped that before I could.

(Shot of Gohan, who is visibly struggling for words.)

Gohan: I….I have a strong sense of honour Chun. You’re a martial artist as well, you should know that. One of the basics of martial arts is not to use it to attack, only to defend the weak. And when you struck Sakura, who doesn’t have any martial arts training, I felt like exploding. However, my own sense of honor knew that attacking you would only lead to more trouble, and it would go against my own honor. Whilst angry, that was it.

(Chun seemed a little agitated, but otherwise fine, as he goes back to the jury. Next up is Duo Maxwell – 4th member of the jury, 6th overall.)

Duo: Well done you two, you’ve played a blinder of a game. Now, everyone knows what a mistake I made when I was voted off. I want to know simply, what is the most devious move you made in the game?

(Again, a bit of silence as they are trying to think.)

Julia: For me, it was you Duo. None of us actually told you about the incident, although as you’d probably guess, there was a reason for that. We went on a mutual consensus and although we liked you, it was like you needed to be taught a lesson. As I said, I didn’t like voting anyone off, but I guess sorry Duo, but it needed to be done.

(Duo nods, and is interested to see what Gohan says)

Gohan: I think in old Helang, voting off Gary. Again, I didn’t say anything to him, but it was just a bit of saying ‘You’ve got plenty of growing up to do pal.’ Again, I didn’t like doing that, but I felt that Nene was of more strengths than Gary, and we needed everything we could get if any of us were to survive on Sekutu.

(Duo seems to contemplate this before bowing and sitting down. Next comes Shinji Ikari – 5th member of the jury, and 5th overall as well.)

Shinji: Congratulations to the two of you for making it this far first, my question is simple. Before I came here, I was seen as a loner. Throughout this experience, at any time, have either of you felt lonely and really wanted to leave?

Gohan: A lot of the times, I did want to go home and see my mom, I think that is natural. I could have held my hand up at any time and told you that I wanted to go home, because I know that everyone would have voted me off like that. However, I didn’t, because I had that fighting spirit and that desire to win. I don’t think there is one member of the jury who didn’t want to go home at one point, no matter what your life was like.

Julia: I don’t feel ashamed that I showed my feelings, that I missed my family and friends back home, but meeting new friends here stopped that blockage from escalating. Pulling myself from it was enough to give me new found strength.

(Shinji nods and takes his seat. Sakura Avalon – 6th member of the jury and 4th overall, takes the stand)

Sakura: Today, the jury will decide your fates. All the questions so far have been about your experiences. My question is of everyone on the jury, who is it that you think deserved it more?

(Both Julia and Gohan have to think with this probing question)

Julia: You know me quite well now Sakura. Reflex, I would say Tenchi because of our alliance, but as a person, I would also say Akane. I felt that we could have really become good friends and the game may have changed completely if she stayed any longer.

Gohan: Same with me. I would say you Sakura because of all we’ve been through together. However, bias aside, I would probably choose Shinji.

(Shinji is genuinely surprised)

Gohan: I’d pick Shinji because he has had an extremely tough life, yet has managed to break out of it here, and really enjoy the true meaning of survivor.

(Sakura smiles as she heads back. Finally, Tenchi Masaki, 7th and final member of the jury, and 3rd overall, takes the stand)

Tenchi: As you know, I come from…an interesting household. Being cooped up with a lot of people isn’t anything new to me. We’ve enjoyed plenty of times altogether, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the last sunrise today.

(Both nod)

Tenchi: I’m the only one who won’t ask a question of you, because you are both outstanding people. I think now is the time we need to reflect on who will win a million pounds. Whether your words have changed the minds of anyone on the jury will soon be found out. All I can say, is good luck to the both of you.

(Tenchi sits down, as Akito stands up)

Akito: Well, 7 members voted off and 2 hosts ready to vote for you. The situation is similar to Tribal Council, the 9 of us, one at a time, will vote for one of you, except this time to win. No-one will know the result until the live show back in Sherwood. For now, Julia Chang, Gohan Sonn, make your closing statements.

(Gohan stands up first)

Gohan: After listening to your questions tonight, I realise that the answers we give tonight will go a long way towards helping you make the decision you will make tonight. Julia is a fantastic contestant who I won’t mind in the slightest if she wins. It is up to you to decide though.

(Gohan sits down as Julia finalises her arguments)

Julia: Look at qualities. Physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally. All these can determine whether someone is worthy of winning one million pounds. Look at the whole picture, not just a whim. Every day on this island is what counts to be crowned the ultimate survivor.

(Julia sits down as Misato stands up)

Misato: Thank you. Now, it is time…and I myself, will make the first vote.

* * * *

(Julia and Gohan sit down as here, the voters will write their vote down to win…and then reveal it to the two and the jury. By the end of Tribal Council, we will know the winner)

* * * *

VOTE 1: MISATO KATSURAGI

The Major went up to the pedesal, and wrote down her vote. She turned to face the jury and the two nervous youngsters.

"For the first half of the series, I’ve watched you two fine young people grow and mature whilst here. It’s something I wish I had done when I was younger. That is the main focus for this vote."

"JULIA."

"Gohan has been an incredibly competitor as a person, but Julia is the glue which has held the tribe altogether throughout it’s early and later days. Good luck to the both of you."

(Shot of Julia wiping her brow as Akito goes up.)

VOTE 2: AKITO TENKAWA

The Aesti pilot/cook goes up, and quickly writes his vote down.

"I admire both of you for how they’ve handled everything. Trust me, in my life, you could do with a bit of calmness. However, under adversity there has been one person who kept on surprising me…"

"GOHAN."

"…and I felt he deserved it. Crossing adversity throughout the game and making it to the final was a real achievement kid. I’m sure no matter what the outcome, you’ll be a winner."

(Score 1-1. The guest hosts votes were split, and Gohan and Julia need to look to the jury now.)

VOTE 3: AKANE TENDO

The heir to the Anything Goes School of Martial Arts, goes up and takes a lot longer to write her vote down.

"It’s Gohan, a loyal tribe mate over on Helang, against Julia, a friend I met on Ulah and enjoy company. Divisons are difficult, but in the end…"

"GOHAN."

"…it is tribal loyalty, and the fact that Gohan kept us going in those early challenges, and gave me the relaxation trip, makes it feel like I owe him. Good luck to the both of you."

(2-1 Gohan, and Gohan breathes a sigh of relief. Of the votes, Akane was one that was hard to predict. Julia remains straight faced.)

VOTE 4: NENE ROMANOVA

(In contrast to Akane, Nene is very quick in deciding her vote.)

"I guess this was easy for me to decide. Whilst I didn’t get along with Gohan as well as some others, he is still my pick."

"GOHAN."

"He is a former Helang member, and a sweet boy. Plus, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have got this far back in old Helang."

(3-1 Gohan. 2 more votes and he’s won. Both are extremely nervous.)

VOTE 5: CHUN-LI XIANG

(Chun is fairly quick in deciding her vote)

Chun: It’s a matter of honour with my vote. Whilst I lost some of it during the trip, I have a martial artist’s pride.

"JULIA."

Chun: And whilst both finalists are martial artists, Julia stayed with me despite adversity. You go girl."

(3-2, and Julia is praying to the spirits now. Both are sweating buckets.)

VOTE 6: DUO MAXWELL

(Duo takes his time with his vote, before sighing)

Duo: Gohan, man, you’ve done well, and I kept you alive once. You’re a good guy, and that’s always nice. However…

"JULIA."

Duo: It’s a case of tribal loyalty first, and what Julia said to me did make my vote considered in her favour. No hard feelings man.

(3-3, and Gohan is now more nervous considering there are 2 Ulah members left compared to the one Helang.)

Misato: Here, I’ve decided to miss out Shinji’s vote as you will soon see why…

VOTE 7: SAKURA AVALON

(Sakura very quickly writes it down)

Sakura: It was obvious who I was going to vote for. Julia is such a nice person and my real mother on the island but…

"GOHAN."

Sakura: …win this for the team Gohan-kun!

(4-3 to Gohan. Julia isn’t concerned…yet.)

VOTE 8: TENCHI MASAKI

(Again, very quick.)

Tenchi: Despite my speech, it was determined who I would pick today. Gohan has deserved his place in the final, but my partner in crime is my pick.

"JULIA."

Tenchi: Win it, and make me proud Julia.

(4-4 – and now people understand why Shinji would be last. Out of everyone, even Akane, Chun or Duo, his would probably be the hardest to figure out.)

FINAL VOTE: SHINJI IKARI

(Julia and Gohan clutch hands, nervous as anything.)

(Shinji takes a near eternity to write down his vote, before turning to the two…)

Shinji: To decide one’s choice. To be part of deciding a winner or a loser. Decisions like this are not easy to make. Two people who I enjoyed being with, people who truly were angels, ones in my eyes who came under fire and hosed it down, it’s hard to choose someone. However, choose I will…

(His vote is turned. Gasps from the crowd…)

Shinji: …but I think you’ve deserved it more.

The vote hit’s the pedesal.

"JULIA."

Shinji: You may have been the one to exile me, but that showed the game, and your high morals are something that I wish I could look up to. Gohan, you deserve it a lot too, and if it was anyone else, I probably would have voted for you. But she was the backbone of a link that was always ready to break. Good luck."

(The Survivor music is played as Julia is in tears, as the first one to hug her is the runner up, Gohan. The two hug as the jury dissipates, offering congratulations and consultations to Julia and Gohan.)

Tenchi: You did it girl…

Julia: I can’t…believe it…

Sakura: Unlucky…

Gohan: (hugging Sakura) Hey, hey…it’s no big deal. What’s a million pounds?

Shinji: Well done Julia.

Julia: (hugging the deciding voter) Thank you Shinji…

(Julia wipes her eyes and turns to Gohan)

Julia: Both me and Gohan decided this beforehand, that whoever won would give the runner up £100,000. So, I guess you can start that college fund after all…

(Gohan groans, wondering what Chi-chi will have to say…but smiles none the less)

Misato: Aw…it wouldn’t be much more fun if we didn’t have the others now as well wouldn’t it….

(Coming in now are a number of the losers wanting to see this. Davis, Vivi, Serena and Gary emerge. Bulleta is in a straightjacket with a smile whilst Jubilee just stands there. Genki of course is being restrained…)

Akito: This is the Survivor equivilent to a pitch invasion…

(Now, as the dust settles, a treasure chest is brought onto the front, as Julia manages to recover from all the excitement and a key is handed to her. She opens it, as a cheque is emerged from it, for 1 million English pounds.)

(Survivor music plays as Julia gives Tenchi a peck on the cheek, before giving Davis and Serena hugs. Gohan gives Vivi a low five – he not very tall – and Gary a high one.)

(Finally, after an eternity, the author himself makes an appearance from behind the cameras…)

Chromus: I guess that’s it for the first survivor from England. There will be a second one though so we’ll look forward to that. This was Chromus, that was Anime and Video Game Survivor, that was Julia Chang, the first winner, who will win next time? Until then, see ya!

(The screen closes as they are ready to party throughout the night, but for now, they think it’s all over…)

(…it is for now.)

FINAL VOTE RESULTS

Julia (5) – Misato, Chun, Duo, Tenchi, Shinji

Gohan (4) – Akito, Akane, Nene, Sakura

* * * *

IT IS DONE! HALLEJULAH!

The first survivor for me, but not the last, so get ready for more survivor fun on Pokemon and Anime Survivors in the future.

So we have an upset winner in Julia Chang. I’ll say right now that Julia was not my first choice of winning, and it in fact changed many times.

Sakura was my first pick of winning, but this was during AS3 when I started this. Of course, I didn’t know that Sakura would win AS3. When she did, I had to change my pick, and my next choice was Tenchi. However, he won a certain mole fic a while ago, and I felt…O.K, we’ll try a newbie. So, I next went with Shinji. At the time, Eva was my fave anime, so I felt that was a bit biased. So, I then went with Gohan. However, then he appeared in AS4, and could win it. So finally, I went with Julia…and hopefully, all is right with the world.

No such problems for my next survivors though, I’ve got them all planned out already, and have already chosen my winners so there will be no mistakes here.

So, for now, this is Chromus saying ‘If you want to make me happy, just don’t mention a certain samba South American Footballing Nation…’

Ja ne!
