MURDER GAME 3: FINAL CURTAIN
CHAPTER 1: So he wasn’t exactly high on popularity?

Welcome one and all, as we invite to a magnitude of death and destruction, marked with the usual elements of romance, struggle, power and more blood than you can find at a drunken horror night. We’ve been given free access to see the 12 detectives in LA, trying to solve the murder of Kaleido Stage owner Kalos. And now, we see them emerging…
…let’s start the game.

(9.20AM)
(Shot of a plane descending down into LA, as we see some detectives inside, quite asleep for some of them and others high on caffeine (not on alcohol, we only allow our detectives drunk AFTER inquiries…). A cute double shot of Negi tuckered out on a seat with mother hen Miyabi smiling behind him, whilst Kotone’s head is plump on Hinata’s shoulder, slightly stirring the ninja who is also asleep. Satoshi’s eyes are closed, but seems more in thought than being asleep, whilst Ban is quite awake, and seems in calm thought. Fai, also awake, looks quite energetic whilst Shiine isn’t quite on the same track, mumbling something about Chacha whilst asleep. Mizuki and Aya are quietly talking in the back whilst Triela is actually missing…)
(…oh wait, no, here she comes, back from the toilet.)
Triela: Damn cramps…
(…and lastly, Kurz is snoring away as Ban not so gently elbows him…)
Ban: Hey Yankee, get up, I think we’re just coming down into your home…
Kurz: (half-asleep) Tessa round the base naked? Aw…but if it’s Mao…
Ban: Right…
(Miyabi gently wakes up the younger members of the team as they stir slightly…)
Hinata: Um…mission time?
Miyabi: Most likely, but not quite what you usually expect…
Kotone: My head…
Mizuki: That’ll teach you to overdose on soda on the way here…
Kotone: …is itching…
(Aya chuckles as Mizuki’s one liner failed as Negi seems wide awake…the same can’t be said for his magical counterpart…)
Shiine: Dorothy…what’s for breakfast…
Triela: Wrong time, wrong place, wrong channel…
(Satoshi looks around as the plane descends…)
Satoshi: I believe we’ve got work straight away…
Aya: Huh?
(Indeed, Satoshi sees outside, and a line up of four taxis – plus a distant figure as well…)
Aya: Kotone-chan, can you see what’s going to happen?
(Kotone thinks with her future technique…)
Kotone: Not quite…but it’s not bad, otherwise I would feel pain…
Ban: Well, it’s going to be a ride and a half…and as soon as we land, I need a cigeratte…damn…
(A few sigh and sweatdrop but as the plane lands, that will be the last thing on anyone’s minds…)

(Landing on the runway, 12 tired detectives make their way down. Let’s reintroduce them to you one more time.)

(Our 12 detectives – I’m sure you’ll all have ones you love and ones you hate, but for now, they are on equal terms, at least for 2 days – because whether they know it or not, they will be gone one at a time. And who better to screw with their lives than…)
(…a shot of a short haired girl with a pair of sunglasses. Sound familiar? Should do for readers of Animole…because…)
(…the girl removes the sunglasses.)
??????: This is…your first clue.
(Yep, the same line as well. Fai is the first to notice as the maiden approaches them. Her name…)
(…Yukino Miyazawa, KARE KANO, host of Animole, greets the detectives for the first time.)
Yukino: So you’re the unfortunate victims…I mean detectives…that have to be taken to this line of hell right?
Mizuki: To say that I really wished you hadn’t put it that way is an understatement.
Kurz: Well, I don’t care what she says, as long as she doesn’t have a boyfriend…
Yukino: I do Asaba, and one step closer and you’ll be playing an up and close personal Killer’s Game!
(Kurz wisely steps back as Yukino stands up.)
Yukino: Right, well sorry I can’t do too many introductions, however, we’ve got no time to lose. We’ve got to hurry to Kaleido Stage, a brutal attack happened last night and we need to get to the scene of the crime. I’m your Lead Investigator for this time period, Yukino Miyazawa, and our first order of business is to elect a Team Leader for two days. Guys, you’ve known each other for a few days, who do you think would be best suited to be the leader of this rookie team for the first few days?
(The majority of eyes switch to the obvious choice, Satoshi. However, she looks up and smiles.)
Satoshi: I decline.
Shiine: Huh?
Satoshi: I believe it’s best to see if someone else can lead this team – because we all need to show leadership at one point. I know I’m established, but I’d rather work with the organisation rather than lead it.
Yukino: I take that as a no then? Well, any other suggestions?
(A quick talk is made as out of the other 11, the only two which people seem to agree with are Ban and Miyabi. It’s tough, but after a few moments…)
Fai: We nominate Miyabi-san as our team leader!
Ban: Hey, we weren’t finished deliberating!!!
Fai: Oh, be a good sport Banpan!
(The vein flares up in Ban’s face, but Miyabi smiles. It seems under a not so fair vote, Miyabi is the first Team Leader.)
Yukino: O.K, Miyabi-san is our first team leader. This means she is safe from elimination from the first two days…
(Those who didn’t know the rules are stunned…)
Yukino: …she will be taken to your new home where she can monitor your work from conversations that we can track on you. Now Miyabi, your next order of business, you need to separate into three teams. Two teams of 4 and one team of 3…now, you’ve seen how people have worked together, make a decision Miyabi.
(Miyabi looks over the team…and nods.)
Miyabi: Satoshi…Aya….(thinks a moment)…Triela and…Kotone.
(Interesting first team – a lot of maturity in that team and
intelligence. So Team 1 is SATOSHI, AYA,
TRIELA AND KOTONE.)
(Satoshi seems pleased. Aya looks around, looking a bit concerned. Triela just smiles, genki as normal, whilst Kotone of the four looks the most nervous.)
Miyabi: Team 2…will be…
(7 left…)
Miyabi: (quickly) Ban, Kurz, Fai and Mizuki.
Ban: You’re kidding…
Fai: We’re working together Ban-bun…
Ban: I hate you.
(Kurz smiles…)
Mizuki: Don’t think about it buster.
Kurz: Not a dirty thought went through my mind Mizuki-chan…
Yukino: Actually, not a thought would have been appropriate…
(So Team 2, whether they like it or not, is Ban, Kurz, Fai and Mizuki. Which leaves…)
Yukino: That makes Team 2…so Team 3 will be…
Miyabi: That would be Shiine-chan, Negi and Hinata.
Shiine: (gulps) Pressure?
Negi: It will be fine, don’t worry!
Hinata: W-We’ll do our best.
(The three youngest of the group are Team 3, Shiine, Negi and Hinata.)
Miyabi: I picked my teams out of interest – Satoshi will lead three people who are considering in my opinion hard workers. The second team is a team of mostly attitudes but can work extremely well I believe with their similarities, and the third team consists of the young people in the group, their energy and unity will be interesting to see if they handle detective work as I believe they can.
Aya: I believe when Miyabi made the teams, she set it up so that she
knew that one team will come through, that is our team, and the other two teams
could struggle. I think she knows the rules of this game better than anybody,
so she knows who she wants to stay and go.
Mizuki: Our team is full of egos as well as smarts – it’s hard to keep
control of this, but I believe we can work together. Ban is very intelligent,
but with Satoshi against us, that’s always going to be an issue.
Negi: I think Miyabi wanted to see if we could actually do well as a
team by putting the three youngest in – people may say because of our youth we
would be seeing weak, but I think Miyabi-san knows more. I hope we can prove
this to her and the others.

(Four taxis are outside as mentioned, which each team go into one, with Miyabi and Yukino taking the 4th. Inside the vehicles, the teams discuss…)
Satoshi: …I don’t want everyone just to follow what I say if that’s what you’re thinking. Put in your own ideas and thoughts, work as a team, not as an individual.
Triela: Of course…wouldn’t have it any other way!
Aya: Kotone-chan, are you O.K?
Kotone: (nods) Just a little nervous…I’ll be fine.

Ban: …look, as long as we’re together, we need to work together, so no more of those stupid names!
Fai: Sure Banpyun…
Ban: (sigh) Ginji, come back, all is forgiven…
Kurz: As long as we are a cohesive unit – that means we have Ban as our Sousuke, and Mizuki as our Mao-neesan…I don’t think Fai would quite match Tessa’s image…
Mizuki: Miyabi…I’m in hell…

Shiine: …do you think Miyabi-san put us together to show what we can do, or thinking we’re disposable as the youngest?
Negi: I don’t think so. She knows what we can do – two magicians and a ninja…people think we’re weak because of our age, but our abilities are among the strongest here.
Hinata: (nods) I’m back with familiar surroundings – two strong boys in a three person unit on a mission…
Negi: (chuckles) Let’s prove it that it is the former rather than the letter then right?

KALEIDO STAGE – SCENE
OF THE CRIME
(As from the prologue, we are aware of the crime happening, as the four taxis cut in into the largest circus stage in the world, where last night, Kalos, owner of Kaleido Stage, was brutally attacked by one of 16 people. Of course, the detectives aren’t aware of this yet, so everything they see is new…)
(The first out, Team 2, look in as a police squad is outside, a police line already on there (which include KS policeman Jerry…)
Aya: Outside where there are a lot of policemen…yep, this seems familiar…
Ban: O.K, so it’s time to work huh?
Yukino: Wait, we need to do some things first…so…

Mizuki: I hate these things…
(The white suits to protect them from DNA and samples, etc, and of course to get clues themselves. They aren’t the most fashionable of accessories, but they are what is necessary…)
Yukino: O.K, let’s head in…
(Yukino leads the 12 into the stage, where a chalk mark has been drawn where the body of Kalos is now gone. However, obviously, there are still things to be done, and Yukino quickly organises them…)
Yukino: Policeman-san?
(Jerry looks up at his familiar calling name as he goes over to Yukino, shakes her hand and explains the situation)
Jerry: Terrible…sometime around closing time last night, about 8pm, Kalos was murdered.
Yukino: Are you sure?
Jerry: Yeah…but I don’t really want to talk about it here…
(Jerry montions to a few people around, performers and people in shock and tears. Among them is Sarah, Kalos’ fiance – and regular performers such as Sora Naegino and Mia Gulliem. Sarah is in complete tears as the dorm owner and singer cannot be consolled…)
Jerry: If you want some of these guys to come with me to the station, I’ll explain better.
Yukino: O.K, I’ll get some of them – what else happened?
Jerry: I think the best idea is ask a few of these folks about if they know anyone who may have done this.
Yukino: Sure…you can take your guys away, we’ll clean up from here. Just wait a bit as we need to send a few guys with you.
(Jerry nods as he begins to ask his team back. Yukino moves over to the groups.)
Yukino: O.K, first briefing. Basically, Kalos was killed last night, around closing time…which is around 8pm.
(Yukino pauses as the team listens in)
Yukino: The team are shifting back, leaving you guys in charge. I’ve got three teams and three things you need to do.
(Another pause as it’s inquiry time.)
Yukino: Team 1: Satoshi Hiwatari, Aya Hoshino, Triela…er…
Triela: Forget it, no big deal…
Yukino: …and Kotone Himekawa. Your job is to clean up the mess. What I mean is look for possible clues about how he died, anything which could help…DNA evidence? Fingerprints? Use what you learned in training and report the information back to base once you’ve finished. A car has already been arranged for you and one other team…
(Yukino turns over to Team 2)
Yukino: Team 2: Ban Mido, Fai Flowright, Mizuki Takase and Kurz Weber. You guys are in the place where Kalos worked and died – the people around here were his employees. I want you to track them down and find out if there is anyone who you think would particularly have a reason to kill Kalos…
(Yukino now goes down to what Ban called the brat brigade, but I’m nice, so I’ll just call them Team 3.)
Yukino: Team 3: Shiine…er…chan?
(Shiine nods as Yukino sweatdrops…)
Yukino: Fine. Shiine-chan, Negi Springfield and Hinata Hyuuga. You guys are going to follow Jerry outside, the big policeman, and he’s going to take you down the station for a more indepth look at Kalos, how he died, and any information you can find in link with Kalos.
(The three teams seem to agree in unison of what they are
doing. NOW, BELOW ARE THE INQUIRIES, AND
A SET TASK THAT THEY NEED TO DO TO WIN FAVOUR. AS ONLY ONE TEAM WILL PASS, IF
THEY COMPLETE THE TASK BELOW, THAT WILL WIN FAVOUR WITH THE LEAD INVESTIGATOR.)

Yukino: O.K, so you guys are set. Team 3 and Miyabi, come with me. The rest of you, get working. Your rides are outside whenever you’re ready to return, whether it’s 20 minutes, 2 hours, whatever. Just get what you can before heading back…every chance you have of survival is in these inquiries, so don’t blow it.
(Yukino starts to move…but then stops.)
Yukino: Suspect everyone. Trust no-one. Off you go.
(YES! Got in the catchphrase…damn I’ve missed it! Anyway, Miyabi, Negi, Hinata and Shiine folllow their winning obsessed leader, whilst Teams 1 and Team 2 are forced to lag behind…)
Satoshi: Spread out. Try not to touch too much unless you’re sure it’s evidence…
(Satoshi quickly organises his troops, as Team 2 don’t seem to have quite the same organisation…)
Ban: Do we split up and find these guys and report back or shall we do it as one?
Kurz: Speed wise, it would be more efficient to separate…everyone got pads?
Fai: Hai hai.
Mizuki: So, we all go around and ask anyone we can?
Ban: Yep. Though maybe not those guys…
(Ban points to Sarah, Sora and Mia, who don’t seem to be in a talkative mood at the moment. Mizuki hesitates, but nods her head. Team 2 split up and begin searching for witnesses and workers of Kaleido who may know why their boss met the big ringmaster in the sky…)
(Team 3 are led by Jerry to the police station, as Miyabi and Yukino head in a car, heading to their HQ, which will be dealt with more in the Inside HQ segments – think of it like side stories which deal with more of the relationships and the relaxation part, as well as the scheming and dealing of the house…geez, sounds like Big Brother now…*shudders*)
Jerry: So, you kids are gonna solve this then?
Negi: We hope so sir!
Jerry: Well, here’s hoping…anyone that dares to make Sora sad makes the number one fan of Sora sad…
(The two boys (rightfully) sweatdrop. Hinata has her eyes closed in concerntration…)
Shiine: Hinata-san, are you O.K?
Hinata: (nods) Mmm…just trying to calm, get the surroundings right…
Shiine: Why?
Negi: She’s a ninja.
(Sweatdrops from the audience who know the seemingly most ripped off line in Anime Reality history (sorry Adam, you owe a lot man…^_^), but seriously, they head off as Miyabi and Yukino watch them take a right turn…)
Yukino: You think they’ll be O.K?
Miyabi: I’m one who knows that youth and inexperience isn’t necessarily a disadvantage. Actually, the youngest friend I have actually is one of the most mature and capable people that I know. I feel they’ll be fine. I just worry about them all…for different reasons. This selection is based on who can adjust the best.
Yukino: You’ve got the worst adjustment you know…you have to pick one to play ‘the game.’ Trust me, as the older sister of a winner of this, it’s the worst.
(Miyabi nods)
Miyabi: We’ll see.
(Miyabi and Yukino head ‘home’ but for the other 11…home is the last thing on their minds…)

SECURE CRIME SCENE
AND LOCATE CLUES (KT: FIND KEY CLUE)
(Satoshi’s team have the key word: organisation. Satoshi has put each of his team (including himself) in four corners, and it’s like they are only searching their spots. Already equipped with bags and their gloves, some are searching for fingerprints…)
Aya: Let’s see…
(…like our kogal Aya, who is searching around a door. This is where they think the killer escaped…because of the forced smash on the outside. However, on the inside, no damage…)
Aya: That means the killer most likely got in a different way, and just forced their way out.
Triela: Keep seeing if the glass has fingerprints, we may get lucky.
Aya: Quick established that the killer is someone quite strong – however that means nothing. If they had a weapon or martial arts skills…or like Ran and gave the door a good kick, then it doesn’t help much. And this may not be even the killer anyway…but it bears thought…
(Triela herself is managing to put a plastic bag over something…bloodstains. Assuming it’s Kalos’, Triela is bagging it in case. Kotone seems to be looking for the murder weapon…)
Kotone: If we knew how we died…
Satoshi: Don’t worry – I asked Negi to keep in touch if he finds out anything that can help us out.
Kotone: Satoshi has experience, and whilst some people can say about his stoic nature, in my eyes, it’s very calming. I’m very nervous about doing this, so being with someone with experience was the best thing that could have happened to me at this stage.
(Satoshi is looking around a bit more, when he notices something in a slab. A slab has been moved slightly in the ground…)
Satoshi: (smiles) Heh.
(Satoshi carefully moves it and removes the slab. The girls turn hearing the slightly heavy thud as the young man looks down.)
Satoshi: Ladies, I believe we’ve discovered buried treasure.
(Satoshi picks up something in the slab, which someone hid down there. Kalos…the killer…someone else? Whoever did it…it doesn’t matter. What matters is that they’ve found it.)
(But what is it?)
Triela: A piece of paper?
Satoshi: More than that…
(Satoshi puts it down and the four look at it. One problem…)
Satoshi: It’s in English.
Triela: Give it here…
(Triela grabs it and translates. Satoshi nods…)
Satoshi: I could have probably made out most of it, but with a team of diverse skills, it helps. Besides, it gives others to show what they can do…
Triela: The blood doesn’t help here…let’s see…
(Triela looks closer, even with her good eyesight it’s a
pain…but she gets it out…)
Triela: Memo: LUMIERE

Triela: Sure is Kotone-chan. It seems these ‘Hoshinos’ are not on Kalos’ Xmas list…correction…was…
(Triela is right. The first two suspects are unwittingly unveiled. Ruri and Haley Hoshino to be exact. And others are possibly involved…and also, that was it because…)
Aya: Looks like it was torn as well…
Satoshi: So there is more…perhaps it would reveal more if we could somehow find that…though wouldn’t be surprised if it was burning away somewhere.
Triela: So, we find out whose these Hoshinos are?
Aya: And what this church as well is about…it’s seems like a link.
Satoshi: Right. The fact this was hidden in a slab not too far from the crime suggests a lot of things. Let’s look on, we might get some more…
(Team 1, despite already getting the key clue, show their determination and continue searching. Meanwhile, Team 2 are forgetting the word ‘team’ for the time and gone their separate ways in looking for people who may be able to help them…)
(…the problem is…)
Kurz: I’m not hitting on you…I just need some help beautiful…er…Japanese?
May: I’m Chinese you moron!
(…Kurz is getting more personal than professional…the charm factor not working on resident Chinese girl May Wong (who is both cuter and much more fun than almost any other Chinese girl, blast off Shampoo, go away Ling-Pha…and even poor widdle Meiling go bye-bye)…however, Kurz realises his normal ways may not be the best thing to go ahead in a murder mystery…so he changes tac…)
Kurz: O.K, I’ll be serious now…listen…we know what’s happened, and we just want to know if there was anything you’ve seen, or if there is anybody you know who could help us in finding the perpetrator of this crime…
May: Forward aren’t we? However…I’m am a bit pissed at this…I don’t show sad emotions much…leave that to Naegino…but…
(May looks around)
May: In recent months, Kalos seemed to want to play God…

Charlotte: …and probably made a few enemies on the way.
Ban: I see.
(Ban adjusts his glasses as bit-player Charlotte gets the interview treatment. Ban is a lot more professional than Kurz (when money is involved, he goes the full hog) and has managed to make the conversation more serious…that, and Fai has gone so he can’t ruin it…)
Ban: Anybody in particular?
Charlotte: Well, there are various people in groups and organisations which Kalos, for one reason or another, was trying to stop. However, one person that springs to mind…

Julie: …was a young lady whose business was in ruin because of some shoddy business she was involved with on the side.
Fai: (nodding) Well then, do we have a name of said person?
(Julie seems to be embarrassed around Fai, who is a fairly handsome bishounen (actually similar in looks to Yuri from KS) and if Fai fails as a detective in terms of detective skills, other ways seem to get the information…)
Julie: Well, who I’m about is…

May: ….Touji
Suzuhara.

Charlotte: …Chiriko
Sasaki.

Julie: …Ukyo Kuonji.
(We go back to these three in a moment, but there is another person that is being interviewed. However, she isn’t having as much luck…)
Mizuki: …are you O.K?
(Rosetta Passell, the 14 year old diablo whizzkid, isn’t quite as talkative. In fact, she seems downright sullen…)
Rosetta: I can’t really say to be honest. There are somethings that I wonder about Kalos which made me upset…and I have an idea of who could have tried to kill him…but…I don’t want to say.
Mizuki: You do realise that any information you’re holding from us means that you could be holding back clues to who killed your boss?
(Rosetta stands up)
Rosetta: I never said I knew anything. I just said I had an idea of things…you’re detectives, you work it out.
(Mizuki chases after Rosetta, who then kneels down and breaks down crying…)
Rosetta: Dammit…why did this happen now…
Mizuki: Rosetta?
(Rosetta’s tears drop, she then lifts her head and jumps onto a trapeze wire. Mizuki hasn’t got a chance following the young girl, as Mizuki looks up…)
Mizuki: Not good…

Kurz: (writing down) So this Touji Suzuhara…
May: (nods) He and his wife Hikari Suzuhara were involved in a certain business with Kalos to try and help pay for an operation for Touji. However, it kinda collapsed…apparently Kalos got out of the deal before the Suzuharas and anybody else could. Now, Touji needs the operation otherwise…
Kurz: Otherwise what?
May: You’re a solider GI Joe, you figure it out.
Kurz: (realising what she meant) Oh.
May: Anyway, don’t ask me why killing him would make it better, but maybe revenge is a dish best served cold…
Kurz: I see…

Charlotte: …he was a sweetie! Chiriko was an 18 year old scholar, one of the smartest people in the world, and we still call him Chi-chan. But…
Ban: But?
Charlotte: He was one of the people who was trying to interfere in Kalos’ business. Chiriko is a person who can save lives with his works, and he was interrupting Kalos in…well…shall we say helping…
Ban: Helping? What about?
Charlotte: (sighs) Kinda complicated, but I suggest you pay a visit to him and have him explain it. Anyway, long story short, Kalos got some dirt on him, and it kind of ruined his reputation…and stopped the problem so to speak. But that’s all I know…Chi-chan would explain this better.

Fai: …so this girl, Kuonji…she’s a head chef at a restaurant, but why would she want to kill Kalos?
Julie: For business…or rather, lack of. Kalos got something on her, I’m sure of it…and from what I hear, she’s not the only entrepreneur that Kalos has managed to stop…but…
Fai: But?
Julie: …she dangerous. She’s by far one of the strongest people in the city, and could match some of our stars in agility. And she’s a martial artist – I’m sure she could find some rather…interesting ways of hurting people…
Fai: I guess we need to find out how Kalos died then…sorry…insensitive…
Julie: (nods) Don’t worry…there are others here which would be worse off…
Fai: Right…

Mizuki: …she was such a little bitch! I can understand people being upset, but I thought…
Fai: Now now Mizuki-chan, we must respect the feelings of others…

(The four get together with their information…)
Mizuki: Not a good day for me…Rosetta got away from me and I have no idea what else could have happened, but everyone else seemed to get something which could help…
Ban: I know how to go in these things, I got one good piece of information, and whilst the others may have as well, I believe that the strategy of separating shows what we could achieve on our own, whilst later, we can see what we can do as a team.
Kurz: May was super pretty…but has Mao-neesan’s attitude. Nonetheless, it was vital we got the opening that we wanted, and we’ve got some people suspicious in the minds of others – a good start in a murder mystery.
Fai: I realise we need to be serious in these situations, but I can’t
change who I am straight away. I was able to get the information we needed so
it’s all good…
(We’ll get back to them in a moment, because two teams have to head home…however, we’ve got another team to look at…let’s see how our ‘brat pack’ are doing.)

(We see Jerry, a few other officers, and of course, three detectives emerge from the cars, as they head in. Obviously, it’s quite busy…and worse, paparazzi are around…)
Jerry: Oh boy…
(Immediately, seeing the group of officers, the journalists (I swore I saw someone from Wisconscin there) swarm over Jerry-tachi. However, Jerry shuffles in the three detectives…the detectives obviously not exactly what the reporters are after…)

Shiine: But we’re not just kids!
Negi: Be calm Shiine-chan, we got in right?
Shiine: But still…
Jerry: O.K, what do we want to know…
Negi: Let’s see…we need to find some connections involving Kalos with people in recent months, and see if there is any reasoning involved possible motives…
Hinata: A-And…
Jerry: Mmmm?
Hinata: S-sorry to ask this…but do you have any information on h-how he died?
Jerry: (calling) Hey Tomo, do you have anything from forensics?!
(Future ICPO officer Tomo Takino (yeah right) bursts in…)
Tomo: Ready and waiting here boss!
Jerry: Someone sedate her…
(Jerry gets the report as the first of many cameos (see how many you can find) hands him the report. Hinata and Shiine look it over whilst Negi goes over to a computer report, where an officer helps the young wizard out…)
Negi: Let’s see…can I find links towards Kalos?
Officer: Yeah, but a lot of it is confidential…with Kalos concerned, we didn’t really bring much thought towards it…
Jerry: Yeah, I didn’t like that. It was cowardly…but what can you say now he died? Anyway…
(Shiine and Hinata look through the forensic report…)
Shiine: O.K, let’s see…
Hinata: (shudders) Nasty…
(Indeed. The report indicated that Kalos was stabbed through the kidneys and through the throat. He died by lung collapse as blood and oxygen couldn’t get through his body.)
Shiine: I don’t suppose we’ve got the murder weapon?
Jerry: Sadly no, nothing we found anyway, maybe your friends will have better luck.
Hinata: So…a stabbing instrument….
(Hinata thinks…)
Hinata: How deep were the wounds?
Jerry: Very. Whatever did the damage went through his whole body, as marks were through the backs of his spine and throat.
Hinata: So…too shallow to be a small blade, like a kunai or a knife…it would have been a longer weapon, like a halberd…or a sword…
(Shiine seems surprised…)
Shiine: Hinata-san, how did you know that?
(Hinata looks at the young wizard…er, the older of the two young wizards…and blushes…)
Hinata: Um…I have a bit of experience in this field…
(Shiine now begins to blush and turns…)
Shiine: *quietly* Chacha-san, I’m not unfaithful, don’t let this moment be a folly to you please…
(Meanwhile…)

(Negi clicks the first file…which says the following…it’s in English, but Negi is fluent so no problem there.)

the Church of the Returners – towards Hikari Yagami, Jet Black, Kensuke Aida
and Seta Noriyasu for unnecessary involvement involving affaris of the deceased
and Akari Kanzaki and Taka Sukanami as an accessory to said affairs.
Shiine: Um…I guess he has issues…
Hinata: (correcting) Had.
Shiine: Right.
Negi: Hold it…one more…

Negi: Against the deceased, a court order towards
insurance fraud in retrospect towards Child’s Toy Productions, in response to
one of their actors in Kaleido Stage, Duplica Imite. Also report of a complaint
and fail for unfair dismissal of Koyomi Mizuhara.
Shiine: Wow.
Negi: I think that’s a lot of people…I think Miyabi-san and Satoshi-san need to know…
Hinata: (nods) Negi-kun, we know how Kalos died…
Negi: Right.
(Negi beginning ringing…)

Triela: What did cutey want?
Satoshi: Just reporting in with what they found. Apparently Kalos died from two stab wounds…caused by a large instrument because he was literally run through the throat and kidneys.
Kotone: (shivering) Not good…
(Just then, Ban-tachi join Satoshi-tachi…)
Aya: We didn’t wait for you guys too long.
Mizuki: Good, because it’s already beginning to drive me nuts…
Kurz: Scary Chinese girl…
Ban: Never mind…listen, we’ve got the names of three suspects….
Satoshi: (smiling) Great.
Ban: (smug) Aren’t we?
Satoshi: (bigger smile) Negi got the names of 12 suspects.
(Silence…)
Ban/Kurz: WHAT?!!!
Fai: Wow, Ban-ban is turning red-red…
Mizuki: Method to Miyabi’s madness then…
Ban: I’ll admit…I was surprised. Those kids…I think I was in my mind, actually glad when I heard that. Because at the start of the game, now knowing that these guys can do good…makes it harder to pick a weak link early…
Satoshi: Reactions to other people doing well doesn’t always have the
desired effect. The fact that I’m just two years older than Shiine and Hinata
doesn’t seem to reflect that because they know what I’m about. It’s when they
hear what they accomplish – the game quickly became interesting in a hurry…

(The two teams are on the way back as they discuss information…)
Aya: So this memo you think is key?
Triela: (nods) Basically, this is one of two things. One it is something of Kalos’ and the killer may have tried to hide it. Or two, the killer had it and hid it…or er…three…it could be something Kalos tried to hide to give us a hint…
Kotone: …or it could be a red herring.
Triela: Dammit, you’ve ruined my rain of thought! Kidding Koto!
Kotone: R-right.
Satoshi: The main thing is that we know thanks to Negi’s team how Kalos died, and we have a key clue to a possible suspect or multiple suspects. We use this as the key evidence in link with what the other teams found out and take it from there.

Kurz: I still think that May girl did it!
Mizuki: Baka…
Ban: We have three names – this Suzuhara guy, this ‘Chi-chan..’ , dammit, more Ginji flashbacks…
Fai: Really B…
Ban: (interrupting before he gets another vein in his head) …and this cook girl Ukyo. All seem to have different possible motives. But I guess we need to find out more about them first before we make any assumptions…
Mizuki: You don’t have an idea yet?
Ban: Too early. Plus if Negi has found 12 other suspects, then we’ve got a lot more to do…

(We see a shot of Miyabi on the phone to someone…)
Negi: (phone) …and that’s what we got Miyabi-san. We’re just on our way back…
Miyabi: That’s find Negi-san. I suggest though you get your suits on when you get back…because I believe we’ve got some more work to do.
Negi: Really?
Miaybi: Yes, but I’ll wait until you get back. O.K, goodbye.
Negi: Bye!
(Miyabi hangs up as we see her…outside…in a white suit…as she looks over the mess in front of her…)

Yukino escaping the car, but as they head up to the drive…a rather unpleasant

(She hears a car in the distance…actually two. It isn’t long before Teams 1 and 2 drive in…and are surprised to see Miyabi in the suit…)
Aya: Miyabi-san?
Miyabi: Welcome back.
Kurz: What’s going on Miyabi-neesan?
Miyabi: Nothing much…but I suggest you get your things inside and back out in your protective suits…
(The 8 nod, as the sight isn’t the prettiest in the world…)

(The three youngsters see most of the others gathering and collecting things into bags. Miyabi sees the trio and beckons them over. The three have already got their suits out ready, unsure what they needed to do…but now it’s obvious…)

(The trio nod, as we get a good look at what they are doing…)

Ban: So…I guess these are the guys we’ve come to track down then?

Ban: (sarcastic) Ha ha. The one that says those nicknames to infruiate me…
Aya: Ginji?
Ban: Well…I guess that’s right…but I meant the one that’s working with us at the moment.
Kurz: If you mean Fai…he’s making some tea with Mizuki.
(Miyabi looks on, as the detectives continue working, as Mizuki and Fai come in…)
Mizuki: Needed that – we haven’t even got into the house yet to check where we’re sleeping…
Fai: Work first, pleasure right…though never in my line of work…
Shiine: World travelling not work then?
Fai: Shiine-chan, it’s a way of life…or running for my life may be more appropriate…
(A few chuckle as Negi slips in a suspect as that makes 16. Negi, Ban and Satoshi gather in the pictures and Miyabi leads them into the evidence room. Every day, whatever evidence is put in there is collected at the end of inquiries by the Lead Investigator to be checked out by forensic experts and other detectives.)
(Miyabi takes a picture of the bloodied messages as she heads in…)
Miyabi: An early indication of who the hard workers are through that early inquiry and extra work so to speak. I believe today was a showcase to see who is the most serious about this…and who isn’t.

(After a delivery to the evidence room, time to finally check out the house. More detail of the fun things that happen and anything not work related can be checked out in the Inside HQ segment, however let’s see how goes with who. There are 6 rooms altogether, so 2 can fit into a room very easily – however…)
Mizuki/Aya: Noooo!
(Looks like a few guys idea of different sex sharing a room is out of the quesiton…)
Triela: Come on Negi-kun, you’re with me…
Negi: U-U-Um, I d-d-don’t think that’s a g-g-g-good idea…

Triela: Just kidding – but seriously, we need to get 2 people into a room, so who goes with who?
Shiine: Negi, you wanna be with me?
Aya: The two young mages – sounds fair to me…

(The ninja looks up as Triela does a cheeky little grin. Hinata is rightfully afraid (NEVER LET A GSG GIRL SMILE AT YOU IF YOU WANT TO LIVE) but fortunately…)

Triela: (laughs) Don’t worry, just kidding…(snaps her fingers again)…just means I haven’t got a Henrietta hear…darn it…
(Hinata does a little giggle, rare from the Hyuuga girl, but her roomate smiles as well…Kotone.)
Triela: Yep, I like Negi and Hinata…they’re both nice, sweet and cute – but they are probably just as dangerous as I am if necessary. So yeah, kinda disappointed I didn’t get to room with them, but Kotone is sweet as well, and considering she seems nervous, I think it could help both of them a bit.
(Negi pops his head round of a room, as the two blunettes grab a room before anyone else can…Triela goes downstairs as Mizuki and Aya already grab a room meaning that Triela is sharing with Miyabi. But the guys…)
Ban: HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?
Kurz: I think you have a sick sense of humour…
(Shot of the most UNLIKELY roomates – Satoshi and Kurz…yep, the voice of Dark with Satoshi…and of course…)
Fai: It’s a red thread of fate Ban-chan…
Ban: Please don’t creep me out like this…
Ban: Crap! I expected to room with Kurz, but Fai…he’s stronger than I thought…he got me before I could snakebite his ass! Satoshi seems like he wanted to do this as well…
Satoshi: I just believe we can be a solid duo…
Kurz: Kid, that’s the last thing I want!
Kurz: Crap! A chance with a girl failed, and the expected team of myself and Ban…yeah, I still don’t trust him, but would have been better than Satoshi! Geez…Kami-sama is having a good laugh at our expense…

Aya: I’m not sure what the guys are playing at, and if we can get others to vote for someone, but…
Mizuki: Indeed. It’s hard to see who to trust, but the ones I can definitely see as easily to rope in would be Negi and Fai.
Aya: Yeah – I think Triela would be on our side as well – maybe Kotone as well. And with Kotone we could get Hinata too…
Mizuki: That’s assuming everything goes well…
Mizuki: Aya is very good at planning. We’re only on the first day and she’s already got some idea what to do for the voting. I believe she may be the most focused in playing – more so than even people like Ban and Satoshi.
Aya: Out of habit, I play to win. I may not be a study-holic like I
used to, but I still like to win. Safety to start with, and then slowly
eliminate those who could win this…that’s the plan, I’ve just got to make sure
it remains that way…
(More room talks in Inside HQ, but now we head downstairs…where a few of the detectives now begin to check out the house…)

surveillance room (with PCs, wire sounds and bugs to possibly track people and
vehicles) wall chart (which Miyabi has already puts the names of some of the
suspects and also a few motives gathered), timeline and various other bits of
equipment. However, inside the dorms there is a large kitchen, three relaxation
rooms (one with a mini-bar and pool table, one with a games room, and one with
a music room), a small gym and pool are on site as well, as the team realise
that they need this type of place if they are going to handle the stress of
this game…)
Miyabi: I think that concludes the grand tour.
Kotone: I guess…now we just wait to see if we need to do anything else…
(Indeed though, it seems that the teams are intending to actually rest for today, as they’ve done for today is basically identify the suspects and some motives. However, some people seem to want to take the case more seriously into it than expected…)
Ban: It’s like the work of the devil – we can see blood here which we assume is the victims…
Aya: I think with the information we do know, it does mean that it was a fairly bloody affair…so whoever has the biggest motive early stages could either be an obvious choice or an obvious herring.
Kotone: Negi-tachi said that the weapon was something long and sharp to run Kalos through the kidneys and throat…
Ban: Suggests a sword or some other sort of weapon of that magnitude…hey, get that friend of yours, she’d probably know more of this than us…
(Kotone nods, but doesn’t even need to move, as Negi, Shiine and Hinata all head in…)
Negi: Kotone-san, Ban-san, good evening!
Ban: Damn, not used to people being polite…but yeah, to you as well. Listen guys, need to ask you something…

Ban: Yeah, good point - a crossbow shot perhaps?
Shiine: Considering the wound, it would have to be thick though won’t it?

Negi: About…(Negi puts his hands apart as Kotone cringes…)
Ban: Yuck…
Aya: I’ve seen violence in Shibuya, but not on that scale…
(Suddenly, Triela pops her head round the corner…)
Triela: So this is where everyone went!
Shiine: Triela-san!
Triela: The others have gone in for some cocoa – you’re working on the case, geez, aren’t we pros?
Ban: Yeah, and Satoshi isn’t here – what’s wrong with this picture?
Triela: He’s upstairs, studying his notes I think…
Ban: Figures…
Triela: So, what you doing?
Kotone: We’re trying to figure out the weapon used…
Triela: Ah, well…considering my line of work and what our trio of kawaiiness said…
*Joint blush from the three kids before Triela continues*
Triela: …I wouldn’t hold out being a gun yet. A shotgun at a precise point could do a good amount of damage there…
Shiine: But…wouldn’t shells or fragments be there?
Triela: (shakes her head) A professional would remove any trace of it there – the fact though that you said of the throat injuries suggests probably something a little less powerful…if it is a blade weapon, I think because of the nature of the wound…
Hinata: …it was like a hole through his throat…(shudders)
Triela: Hmmm…
(As they speak, Ban realises something…)
Ban: These kids…I thought they’d be a weak link…but suddenly, I’m talking with THEM about the case, and not Kurz or Satoshi or Mizuki…or someone I thought I should work with…maybe this won’t be so bad after all…
(Outside, we can see Miyabi listening in and smiling, as just off screen, we see Fai, Mizuki and Kurz drinking cocoa…)
Kurz: …of all people, why Satoshi?
Fai: Now, now, it isn’t that bad…you don’t see Ban-pan complaining do you?
Mizuki: That’s because he did all his complaining when we first met…
Fai: Oooooh, Mizuki-chan scary!!!
(Mizuki sighs as she looks upstairs…)
Mizuki: He’s probably got some advanced theories on the case already…heck, he probably knows who it is and we haven’t even seen any of the suspects.
Kurz: Well, we can’t really do anything about what to do about voting until we actually get to it, and that won’t happen till tomorrow…
(Upstairs, Satoshi is indeed doing some notes…but not on the case….)
Satoshi: Ban…very capable worker when he keeps his temper and ego in check…Fai…seems to laze through life and not taking it seriously enough…potential is there…
(He checks some more then goes onto the girls…)
Satoshi: Hinata…nervous and shy when speaking but very into the case and more than capable…Kotone…weak at the moment but her skill could be useful…Aya, strongest of the females at the moment…intelligent and more confdent than expected…Triela…very strong physically and mentally, but seems more into playing around…will most likely get into the case more…
Satoshi: I can’t say I’m working on the case straight away, that’s silly. This time allows me to analyse my fellow detectives and see who should stay and who should go – I’ve already got a set few in my head, and we’ll see how tomorrow effects this choice.

(The teams first briefing with Yukino Miyazawa begins at 7pm. First, the team discusses what they found and then the Lead Investigator will come down to discuss it with them…)
(Shot of Miyabi leading the initial briefing, as the detectives explain what they have found and elaborate further if necessary…)
Miyabi: …so after the body was shown by forensics, Kalos was killed by some sort of attack which ran through his body and throat.
Shiine: Yes Miyabi-san, early indications thought that the weapon was a sword or pike or some other long instrument, however, a bit further discussion means it could have been anything that could range from an arrow to a shotgun.
Negi: I think it’s hard to say at this stage.
(Miyabi nods…)
Miyabi: Now, we found the names of our suspects on the front wall of our house – but we got into a bit more details with Team 3 finding a bit of information for a lot of the detectives, whilst Team 2 found something on three suspects, and Team 1 found a conclusive clue left by someone under a slab, right?
Ban: Indeed, the three suspects that we found information about was of the people called Ukyo Kuonji, Touji Suzuhara and Chiriko Sasaki, also known as Ou Doukon apparently.
Mizuki: Also, when trying to find information from one of the members, Rosetta, she was very evasive and almost scared…I wonder if she has a link to someone that we weren’t aware of…
Kurz: The point is that these three people have already been established decent motives – one for her business and friendship, one for destroying a possible lifeline of survival, and one for ruining his love life and reputation….
Miyabi: Indeed – I suggest that these three have to be the initial focus when we return to our line of inquries. What else did we find?
Satoshi: We found underneath a slab not far from where the body was, there was a memo in blood, contracted and confirming to the Hoshinos. We know now that two people with that name are suspects, Ruri and Haley Hoshino.
Triela: It also linked with this Church of the Returners as well, which I’m not sure about but is there a link with what you guys found Negi-kun?
Negi: (nods) Yes, we know that this Church made an appeal inquiry about this Kalos, and we know that two of the suspects are based at this church.
Hinata: Anna Respighi and Tenchi Masaki.
Miyabi: I think that’s our three focuses at the early stage – Miyazawa-san will be coming later so we’ll submit this to her and see what she thinks. We’ll adjourn for tonight…
(The group seems satisfied with the first day’s work…but will Yukino see it that way?)

(In between this, we get some interesting exchanges between a number of members, like how homesick the two young wizards are, is Ban thinking that his teammates are better than his usual crew, and is one member of the team guaranteed a final three simply because he is the only person who can cook well? She’s in her school uniform (so Kurz is probably having a nosebleed whilst trying to pay attention) as she looks ahead to the group (minus Miyabi who is sitting at the side of her, the Team Leader sits in front with the LI, whilst the other members scatter around.)

Yukino: O.K, so first day. How are you finding it here?
Fai: It’s very relaxing.
Yukino: Really? Well, don’t get used to it. It will be all blood and guts from now on…now, according to Miyabi’s report – we have got the names of all 16 detectives right?
(They nod)
Yukino: But there seems to be focus from a certain few based on information that Teams 1 and 2 found out.
Miyabi: Yes.
Yukino: Can you please explain?
Satoshi: During our search for clues around the place where the body was discovered, we found a memo in blood. This memo seemed to show something untoward in retrospect, involving the Church of the Returners and the Lumiere Adoption Society.
Aya: After discussing with Team 3, the people involved would be Anna Respighi, Tenchi Masaki, Ruri and Haley Hoshino.
Yukino: Right. And what about Team 2?
Ban: We discovered that around the inhabits of the Kaleido area, three of them named three detectives by name as people they considering the most suspicious, namely Ukyo Kuonji, Touji Suzuhara and Chriko Sasaki.
Yukino: Right. So, are we in agreement that these people should have our initial focus?
(A collective nod suggests that. Yukino nods…)
Yukino: Right, well I’ll get the evidence you found today, review your procedures and get back to you 10am tomorrow morning. There, we’ll discuss your next line of inquiry. I suggest that tonight you relax, but at the same time, think who you would like gone. Especially you Miyabi.
(Miyabi nods, as a few members of the team look nervous.)
Yukino: This time tomorrow night, we’ll be having the group vote. One team will be vaccinated – this means whoever in my opinion, did the best overall in their team, by giving each member a rating between 1 and 10, will avoid the group vote. Whoever isn’t vaccinated is fair game and everyone bar the Team Leader must vote for someone who hasn’t been vaccinated.
(Yukino, with that evil little smile of hers, looks over at the Ai Yori Aoshi entrant)
Yukino: The Team Leader however can pick anyone that he or she wishes to play the killer’s game – which if you haven’t figured it out yet, was what those two messages were about. The killer has sent a message that he or she will be at one of those two places. The other place contains a valuable clue to the identity of the killer.
(Yukino holds out two envelopes)
Yukino: Tomorrow night, the two people sent out to play the killer’s game will pick one of these two envelopes, which will have a location. Whoever gets to the location where the killer isn’t at, will survive and return with the vital clue. Whoever arrives at the location with the killer…
(Yukino does a motion of slitting her throat)
Yukino: …I don’t think I need further explanation.
(Another nervous shot of the crowd…Kotone in the back is shivering, whilst Negi, Hinata and even Aya all look nervous.)
Yukino: The two who are nominated each episode will get the chance however, for some revenge. After they are nominated, they will film their last will and testament. Whoever is eliminated, we will play their last will the next morning, where the eliminated can choose whoever he or she wants to be the next Team Leader.
(A few nods as Yukino finally wraps it up…)
Yukino: O.K, now I suggest you use tonight wisely. It will be the last time the 12 of you will be together. Goodnight.
(Yukino moves off, as a collective sigh comes out…)
Mizuki: Nervewracking! Yukino is a tough nut to crack, but those words showed how badly it can effect everyone. Each team needs to make sure they’ve done well, and I feel compared to the unity of the other two teams, that ours is screwed!
Negi: When I left Mahora Academy, some of the girls were crying,
because they didn’t know when I’d return. To be eliminated this early would be
a double edged sword – I want to win, but I want to be Asuna-san, Miyazaki-san,
Konoka-san, Setsuna-san and everyone else…BUT IT SOUNDS SO SCARY!!!
Triela: Looking around, it does sound very intimidating. Hinata and
Kotone are generally nervous girls, but Kotone obviously isn’t a ninja, so a
mission in the dark seeing if you get killed is not something you want to do at
night. People will easily forget this is a game…it feels so real…
