Hello there! Let’s see... we’re on Episode 5. Um... I think you’re all just itching to read it anyway, so here you go! Disclaimer: As the author, I completely deny any rumors that I own the girls in this fanfic. Except in my dreams, but that’s another story... * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) In our last episode... Layla: For the pink team, Sakura and Giselle teamed up and feel asleep at the same time. Their time was 41 hours, 5 minutes, and 48 seconds. That makes the pink team the winners of the first physical challenge. The pink team quietly celebrates, seeing as how most of them were still lacking sleep. The red team quickly disperses without argument. Layla: (VO) After attempting to stay up for 48 hours straight, the 16 girls try to catch up on some lost sleep. Except for a few of them... Sora: What is this all about, Kari? Kari: You’ll see. Kari opens the door and steps inside first. Sora follows her... and then stops when she sees Misty silently looking at one of her Cascade badges on her bed. Layla: (VO) Is there a way to make Misty and Sora friends forever? Misty: Like that’ll happen. Sora: Yeah. Kari: Look, do you want help or not? Sora: You know, it would help if you’d actually try! Misty: (rolls her eyes) Whatever. Layla: (VO) Unfortunately, Kari’s troubles don’t end there... Kari: You bet I’m mad! At all of you! Especially TK and Davis! Davis: Ha ha! She said your name first TB, so she must hate you more! Kari: (angrily) Davis! Will you just shut up! Davis: (squeaks) Sorry. Kari: I NEVER WANT TO SPEAK TO YOU AGAIN, EVER! * * * * * * * * * * Sixteen young girls Four different anime shows Forty-two days living alone in a mansion One lucky soul walks away with up to one million dollars in cash (Begin theme song, showing each of the contestants, two at a time via split screen) Casey, playing baseball with her Chikorita Chelsea, holding her favorite stuffed panda Duplica, dressed as a Metapod Giselle, talking with her old friend Joe after a training class Jun, wearing her T-shirt that was signed by Matt and TK Kari, reading an e-mail message on her D-Terminal Madison, showing Sakura her rubber cat suit battle costume Meilin, fighting the Fight card in Penguin Park Mimi, waking up and seeing Palmon with her to celebrate Christmas Misty, singing a lullaby to Togepi Nikki, clearing the box vault during P.E. class Rita, putting on her sword shaped brooch Sakura, using the sealing wand to capture the Thunder card Sasami, cooking dinner at the Masaki residence Sora, returning a serve on the tennis court Yolei, taking a picture with her friends on her class trip to Kyoto Some of these girls will form long lasting friendships Others will develop intense rivalries But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes These girls are... roomies! She was furious that TK and Davis would bother her for something so trivial as telling them which one of them she really liked. As she stood there and continued to fume, Yolei and Sasami look on from a distance. Yolei: (slowly and cautiously) Kari? Is everything okay? Sasami: What happened? Kari: (putting the phone down on the kitchen counter) If anyone wants me, I’ll be up in my room. With that, Kari runs out of the kitchen in tears. Yolei: (motioning to follow her) Kari! Wait! Sasami: (stopping Yolei) Yolei, stop! Yolei: Why? Sasami: Whatever happened, she’s probably not in the mood to talk about it right now. Yolei: That’s not why I was going to follow her. Sasami: (sighs and shakes her head) You don’t have to lie. I know. Go ahead. Yolei: (running out) Thanks! Sasami: (yelling) Just be careful about what you say to her. Kari’s cries can be heard all over the house as she makes her way to the stairs. At the top of the stairs, Giselle appears, dressed in nothing but a sky blue bathrobe. She has a towel wrapped around her hair, which is still dripping wet after the shower she just took. Giselle: (yelling) Hey! Some people are trying to take a shower in peace, you know! Kari then appears at the bottom of the stairs, still in tears. Without even acknowledging Giselle’s presence, Kari makes her way up the stairs and to her room, bumping Giselle out of the way in the process. Giselle: How about a little respect here? Kari reaches the door of her bedroom. She opens it, steps into the room, and slams the door behind her. Just as Giselle was about to yell at Kari once again, Yolei appears at the bottom of the stairs. She makes her way up. Giselle: Just what is going on here? Yolei: (panting) Kari was just on the phone with someone, but whoever it was made her really upset. Giselle: Well, she bumped into me! Yolei: (reaching the top of the stairs) She didn’t mean it. She’s not feeling well right now, so excuse her for anything she might do in her condition. (under her breath) I just hope she won’t do anything she might regret. Giselle watches with intent as Yolei walks over to Kari’s door and knocks on it. After hearing no response, Yolei tries to open the door. Finding it to be unlocked, she opens it and walks in, closing the door behind her. Inside, Yolei spots Kari on top of her bed. She is sobbing quietly into one of her own pillows. Yolei quietly gulps. Yolei: (CC) I know I’m Kari’s friend and everything, but who knows how she’ll react to me being here. Yolei tiptoes over to Kari and taps her on the back. Kari slowly removes her face from her pillow and turns towards Yolei. As Yolei sits down on Misty’s bed, she notices the big wet spot that is now present on Kari’s pillow. Kari herself looked like she had transformed once again. Just a minute ago, she had been angry. Now, it was obvious that her tears were making a mess of her pale white complexion. Her hair was also out of place, like it had been scrambled by an eggbeater. Yolei had never seen her best friend like this, even through their adventures in the Digiworld. What happened next completely surprised Yolei. Kari, instead of asking why Yolei had followed her, simply buries her face in Yolei’s chest and cries once more. Kari: (sobbing) Oh Yolei... Yolei: (running her right hand through Kari’s hair) It’s okay, Kari. Just let it all out. Kari became so involved in crying that she failed to hear the bedroom door open. Yolei, though, heard the door. She turned her head and spotted Giselle, still dressed in the bathrobe, entering the room. Yolei: Giselle? Giselle: Yeah, it’s me. I was just wondering if everything is okay. Yolei: Well, to tell you the truth, I don’t know. (to Kari) Is everything okay? Kari only responded with more crying. Giselle rolled her eyes. Giselle: (walking over to the duo) You know Kari, this would be much easier for you if you just told us what’s wrong. Yolei: Giselle’s right. You can’t cry forever. It’s not healthy to keep all of your feelings bottled up. After hearing that, Kari immediately stopped crying. She pulled her head away from Yolei’s chest. Using her hands to wipe the tears from her face, Kari finally spoke. Kari: Davis and TK. They were the ones who were calling me. Yolei: I thought you were talking to that professor? Kari: You mean you didn’t hear me say their names out loud when I was on the phone? Yolei: I was talking with Sasami at the time. Besides, it’s impolite to eavesdrop. (looks at Giselle) Right? Giselle: (pleading with innocent eyes) I’m only trying to help! Is there anything wrong with that? Kari: Yolei, please don’t start another argument. I’ve had enough of those to last a week. Yolei: Oh. Right. Kari: Anyway, the reason they called is because they wanted me to tell them which one of them I liked. Giselle: What do you mean liked? As in as a friend? Kari: No. As in as a boyfriend. Yolei: I can’t believe those two! Especially Davis! How dare they call you for something like that! Kari: And that’s not the worst of it! Matt and my brother Tai helped set up the whole thing! Yolei: Unbelievable! Giselle: Wait a minute... what are they doing in Pallet Town? Yolei: Beats me. Kari: (covers her face with her hands) Why? Why must my life be so complicated? Giselle: May I make a suggestion? Yolei: No! Kari: (pulling her hands away from her face) Go ahead. Yolei: What? Kari: Yolei, please. Giselle: If you don’t like either of them that way, then just tell them so! Kari: But that’s exactly what I did. Actually, I probably went a little overboard. I told them that I didn’t want to talk to them ever again. Yolei: You don’t mean that, do you Kari? Kari: (sighs) I’m not sure. I want to really mean it, but there’s a part of me that keeps telling me to forgive them. (to Giselle) What do you think Giselle? Giselle: Huh? Why do you want to know my opinion? Kari: I hope you don’t mind me saying, but you look like the type of girl who has boys swooning all over her. I’m just assuming that you have some experience in this matter. Giselle: Well, your assumption is wrong. I’m not that kind of girl. Kari: Oh. Giselle: But honestly, in my opinion, I probably would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes. Kari: How about forgiving them? Would you? Giselle: That’s a personal question. If you really do care about either one of them, then you’ll eventually find the strength to forgive them. If you don’t care, then you probably won’t see them ever again. Yolei: So, are you going to give Davis and TK another chance? I know I wouldn’t. Of course, I’m not the one who has feelings for them. Kari: (blushes) Feelings? Since when did I sincerely care for them? Giselle: I think you do care. You should see how red your face is right now. Yolei: (smiles) I knew you cared. Giselle: (getting up) Well, my hair’s almost dry, so I’d better get going. I hope you feel better. Kari: Thanks Giselle. I do feel better. You helped a lot. Giselle: I’m two doors down to your right, if you ever need to talk. Kari: Thanks. Giselle waves goodbye to Kari and Yolei. As the duo continues to converse, she opens the door and walks out. Giselle: (closing the door behind her) That should help my standing a little bit. With Kari behind me, I’m sure to gain an extra vote or two. Misty: Hey! Giselle turns around and sees Misty coming out of Chelsea and Casey’s bedroom. The redheaded girl angrily stomps her way over to Giselle. Misty: Why are you wearing my bathrobe? And using one of my towels? Giselle: I can’t find my robe. Plus, I’m all out of towels because no one’s done the laundry yet. Misty: That’s no excuse! Give me back my robe and towel! Giselle: Give me a chance to put some clothes on first, girl! Giselle walks to her bedroom door. She opens it, walks in, and closes the door behind her. Misty waits impatiently outside. Misty: You’d better hurry up! I still want to take a shower myself. Giselle: Hold your horses! I’m moving as fast as I can! A few minutes later, Giselle opens the door. She’s now dressed in a plain white T-shirt and some green shorts. She hands the bathrobe and towel to Misty. Giselle: Here! Satisfied? Misty: Yep. Misty walks to her room to get her nightclothes, while Giselle goes back into hers to rest for the night. Giselle: (CC) Misty is so demanding! She thinks she’s the boss of everyone. I’ll show her. Misty: (CC) Who does Giselle think she is? Wearing my bathrobe? That was so rude! She’s too stuck up for her own good. Day Eight The following morning, Kari is in the first floor recreation room, reading her e-mail. That includes the messages that TK and Davis had sent her a couple of days ago. Mimi is the only other person in the room. She’s sitting on the couch, watching a cooking show on TV. Kari: (CC) I don’t know why, but I’m reading the two e-mails that TK and Davis wrote to me while I was locked up in that room for the last challenge. To tell you the truth, those two are pretty funny. Kari looks in Mimi’s direction. She calls her over. Mimi: (getting up) What’s up? Kari: Look at this weird e-mail Davis sent me. Mimi looks at the screen and reads the e-mail aloud. Mimi: Kari, from the day I met you, I reserved a place in my heart just for you. I’m not just saying that. You’re the cutest girl that I’ve ever met. You’re smart and intelligent. I wish I were more like you. I don’t know what you see in that TP, but I’m willing to show you that I love you as many times as I can count. Let’s see, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. See? TE has nothing on me! Love, Davis. Kari: Oh brother. Mimi: (giggles) Poor Davis. He can’t even spell TK’s name right when he writes it down. Kari: You have to admit though, it’s not bad. Mimi: I agree. Davis may not be a poet, but when it comes to admitting his feelings for you, he could probably write a novel about it. Not that anyone would read it, of course. Kari: Don’t say that. I kind of find his amorous tendencies to be cute. Mimi: So does that mean you’ll one day go out on a date with him? Kari thinks about it for a second. The two of them then simply respond... Mimi and Kari: Naaaaa. Mimi: What about TK? What did he write you? Kari: Oh, not much. Kari opens TK’s message. Mimi reads this one aloud as well. Mimi: Dear Kari. There aren’t enough words in the world for me to express my feelings for you. So I’ll just simply use three. I love you. Sincerely yours, TK. Kari: For some reason, I thought he would say something more than that. Mimi: I think it’s romantic. You and TK were meant to be together. Kari: (pointing to herself) TK and I are just friends. We aren’t like that. Mimi: Stop kidding yourself! I know, Sora knows, Tai knows, heck, the whole world knows! Everyone knows except for you two! I say the next chance you get, ask him out on a date! Kari: You’re kidding? Aren’t I too young to be dating? Mimi: (winks) There’s a first time for everything. Besides, we all gotta start somewhere. Just then, Sasami enters the room. Sasami: Kari! I’ve got an idea that you won’t believe! Kari: About what? Sasami: About how to make Misty and Sora friends! Layla: (VO) When we return... Mimi: That might just be crazy enough to work! Layla: (VO) It’s round 2 of Operation Make Misty and Sora Friends Forever... Mimi: Maybe I could help out a little bit. Giselle: Don’t bet on it! Sasami: Could we actually be making progress? Layla: (VO) And later on, the cat’s out of the bag for Giselle... Jun: (CC) You call this fun? I’m sick and tired of being Giselle’s servant! Meilin: I’ve got the perfect plan to put that brat in her place! Giselle: Now you’re fighting dirty! Layla: (VO) When Roomies returns... * * * * * * * * * * Kari, Sasami, and Mimi are now sitting on the couch, discussing their plan. Sasami: I figured out that the best way to get them together would be to have them spend a day together. Mimi: So how were you figuring on getting that accomplished? Sasami: Well, when Miss McKenzie called this morning to check up on us, I told her my idea, and she agreed. Basically, we’re all going to spend a day out on the town. Kari, you’re coming with Misty, Sora, and myself. Kari: You think this’ll work? Sasami: Positive. Mimi: Ooh, you’re going out? Can I come? Maybe I could help out a little bit. Sasami: Sure! The more, the merrier! Mimi: Really? Kari: Yeah! You can help us out too. Mimi: That’s great. I’m tired of hearing Sora talk about how self-conceited Misty is. I really don’t think she is. Sasami: Oh, so you mean you’ve gotten some time to sit and talk with Misty? Mimi: Of course not. I’m just assuming she’s better than Sora makes her out to be. After all, if she got a chance to compete for a million dollars, then I’m sure she’s done something right. Sasami: (to Kari) At least it’ll get your mind off of last night. Kari: I’m over that already. Sasami: Really? Mimi: Um... what happened last night? Kari: I’ll tell you on the way. We are leaving now, right Sasami? Sasami: Yeah. Kari: I’ll go get Misty. Mimi: I guess I’ll go get Sora. Sasami: We’ll meet by the front door in ten minutes. Ten minutes later, the five girls are gathered outside. But obviously, Sora and Misty aren’t happy that they’re both going along. Misty: I’m not going. (pointing to Sora) Especially if she’s going. Sora: Likewise. Sasami: Do we have to go through this every time you two are together? You act just like Ryoko and Ayeka. Misty and Sora: Who? Sasami: (sighs) Never mind. Mimi: Say... are there any good places to shop? I’m in need of some new clothes. Kari: Why? Sasami and I are starting the laundry tonight. Mimi: Don’t you know that only squares wear the same clothes more than once? Kari: So what if I’m a square? At least I’m not spending my allowance on new clothes every week. Sora: Gee. Do all American girls act like you do? Mimi: Not really. Just the ones in the fashion club, that’s all. Misty: Well, this isn’t exactly a fashion show, you know. I’m perfectly fine wearing the clothes I already wear. Sasami: Guys! It couldn’t hurt to look. I don’t agree with having to buy new clothes every week, but I do agree that it’s nice to keep with the current trends. Mimi walks over and puts her arm around Sasami. Mimi: See? At least Sasami understands me. (points to the front gate) Let’s go! Mimi happily trots down the driveway. The other four look at her weirdly. Sora: I’m glad that there aren’t any American exchange students are at my school. Especially if they can act just like Mimi sometimes. Misty: (smirks) For once I agree with you. Sora, Misty, and Sasami follow Mimi to the front gate, leaving only Kari by the front door. Kari: Um, guys? Sora: What’s wrong Kari? Kari: Just where exactly are we going? And how are we going to get there? Sora, Mimi, Misty, and Sasami look at Kari, then at each other, and then back at Kari. They all then shrug their shoulders. Kari: (sweatdrops) Just as I figured. Half an hour later, the five girls are outside the mansion grounds, talking to Miss McKenzie. She just handed them a piece of paper with directions to the nearest mall. Layla: Now I want you five to be careful, okay? Sora: Don’t worry. We’re big girls. We can handle ourselves. Mimi: Besides, downtown New York is much worse than anything I’ve ever seen in downtown Tokyo. The girls begin to walk south, away from the mansion. They all wave goodbye to Miss McKenzie. Layla: Make sure you’re back by eight! Sasami: Bye! Misty: Who does Miss McKenzie think she is? Our mother? Kari: She’s just looking out for us. After all, we’re all still teenagers. Sasami: (winks) Young teenagers at that. Misty: Oh yeah, that’s right. Sora: Oh, I remember. Mimi: Huh? Just what are you three talking about? Kari: Yeah! Fill us in! Sora: (to Sasami) You mean you haven’t told them? Sasami: No. Misty: (smiles) We’ll tell you two on the way to the mall. As they continue their journey to the mall, let’s check back in on the mansion and see how the others are doing. In the first floor recreation room, Chelsea, Nikki, Rita, Casey, Giselle, Jun, and Meilin are talking about how they are going to spend their day. Chelsea, Nikki, Rita, and Giselle are on the computers, while the others are on the couch, watching TV. Rita: Where is everybody today? Jun: I heard that Sora, Misty, Kari, Mimi, and Sasami all went shopping. Giselle: And you didn’t tell me? I could’ve gone with them! (coughs) I mean, that’s good. All they’re doing is attempting to bring Sora and Misty together. Nikki: I guess you’re right. Chelsea: (smiles, while typing away at her computer) That’s good. Casey: Maybe now things will calm down. Giselle: Don’t bet on it! Meilin: (VO) I agree. Only you are the one who should be worried about anything, Giselle. Nikki: Hey Chelsea! That reminds me... there’s this great site that sells stuffed animals on line! And they offer free shipping! Chelsea: (as her eyes light up) Really? Show me where! Nikki slid her chair over to Chelsea’s computer. She types in the URL to the website in question. Giselle: Do you guys do anything else besides sit on the computer all day? Chelsea: (looking up from her screen) Excuse me Giselle, but I’m sure that you’ve been on longer than I have. (looks back at the screen) Oh! Is that a stuffed pig? I’ve always wanted one of those! Meilin: Oh brother. Jun: You can say that again. Meilin: Oh... Giselle: She didn’t mean literally! Now back with the others, who have already arrived at the mall. Mimi leads the way in, followed by Sasami, Misty, Sora, and Kari bringing up the rear. Mimi: Wow! There are so many places to go and so much to do! Kari: Why don’t we start at the shoe store? I need some new shoes for school. Sasami: I heard there’s a sale on pots and pans at the cooking shop! Sora: We should go to the sporting goods store first. I need a new tennis racket. Misty: Hold on a minute! Shouldn’t we get something to eat first? Mimi: Now that you mention it, I am feeling a little hungry. Sasami: Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go! Sora and Misty lead the way. While they are walking, Sasami pulls Mimi and Kari back with her, a good distance behind the two girls. Sasami: Okay guys, here’s my plan. After we eat, we’re going to go straight to the arcade. Mimi: (moans) Why? I had my eyes set on buying this cute little set of diamond shaped gold earrings I just saw. Kari: (with a raised eyebrow) You actually have the money to buy something like that? Sasami: Anyway, I thought that a simple little team game will bring Sora and Misty together. Mimi: Do we have to play a game? I’m not too good at those. Sasami: (sighs) Fine. You can watch while Kari and I team-up against them. Of course, we’ll let them win. Kari: So what are we playing? Sasami: It’s this fun game that I saw on TV once. It’s called laser tag. Mimi: (with a hint of concern) Isn’t that a little dangerous? Someone could get hurt, you know. Kari: (giggles) They’re not real lasers Mimi. Mimi: Oh. I knew that. Anyway, I just had this interesting thought. (yelling) That might be crazy enough to work! Sasami: (sweatdrops) Of course it’ll work. Let’s go before they get suspicious. As Sasami and Mimi walk off to catch up with Sora and Misty, Kari takes another moment to think about their plan. Kari: I’m almost there! If only those two would listen! I just hope this plan works. Mimi: Kari! Are you coming or not? Kari: Coming! Forty-five minutes later, the five girls are finishing up their lunch. As they dump their trays, Sasami brings up her idea to Misty and Sora. Sasami: I heard that there’s this great new game at the arcade! Why don’t we have a little fun before we go shopping! Sora: I think that’s a great idea! Misty: Just what kind of game is it anyway? At the arcade... Sora: Laser tag? Misty: And you guys want Sora and I to be on the same team? Mimi: Yeah! It’ll be fun! Sasami: It’ll be you two versus Kari and myself. First team to five points wins the match. Kari: Come on guys! Can we forget about these stupid rivalries for one day and have some fun? Misty: (sighs) Okay, I’ll give it a try. Sora: Fine by me. As long as Misty stays on her side of the field. Kari: This had better work, for all our sakes. Misty: (VO) I know that this is another attempt to get Sora and I to stop fighting. I’d usually retort, but this feels like it might actually be fun. Sasami: (CC) Let’s get ready to rumble! As the four girls suit up in special virtual reality costumes, Mimi watches from the sidelines. Mimi: How can they stand to wear those things? They’re so heavy to wear. The camera shoots a couple choice scenes from the battle. In the first shot, Kari and Sasami are hiding behind some imaginary rocks, as Sora and Misty walk by, unaware of their presence. Kari: Ready? Sasami: Let’s do it! The two jump out and begin firing shots at Sora and Misty. They purposely miss so that they could give the duo the time to get their bearings. In the second shot, Misty is running with Sasami and Kari giving chase. Once again, they are firing and missing. Misty: You guys can’t hit the broad side of a barn! Kari: (playing along) Oh yeah? I’ll show you! Kari fires once again. Her imaginary shot hits Misty in the back. That causes Misty’s screen to flash red for a brief moment. Sasami: (softly so that Misty can’t hear) You were supposed to miss! Kari: They’ll get us eventually. Why should they be the only ones having fun anyway? In the third shot, Kari hides in an imaginary tree as Sora stops right underneath her, looking around. Sora suddenly hears a sound from a nearby bush. Misty quickly pops out, with her gun aimed right at Sora’s head. Misty: Sora! Duck! Sora: What? Kari jumps down from the tree with her gun drawn. As she motions to take the shot, Misty fires and hits her in the face visor. With the hit, the virtual simulation deactivates. Kari is the first to take off her visor. Misty and Sora follow suit, both in shock over the outcome. Kari: Wow! That was quite a shot there, Misty! Sora: How did you manage to hit her even though I was right in the way? Misty: I’m a little surprised myself. I really thought it was going to hit you. I didn’t mean it, though. Sora: (smiles) I know you wouldn’t do something like that. Misty: (eyes lit up in surprise) You mean you believe me? Sora: Of course. Misty: You know, it would have helped if you ducked. Sasami: (appearing out of nowhere) Oh, stop it you two. You guys won! That’s all that matters. Sora: Sasami’s right. We make a pretty good team. Misty: I guess you’re right. The two shake hands. Sasami and Kari breathe a sigh of relief. Sasami: Finally. Kari: It’s about time. Misty: (smirks) Just don’t get used to it. Sora: After that last shot, I’d be crazy to be on any team with you. Especially the way you shoot. Misty: You’re just jealous because my aim’s better than yours. Sora: Oh yeah? Who scored the most points? Misty: But at least I made sure my shots were accurate! How many times did I see you aim for a tree? Sasami and Kari facefault in disgust. Sasami: We were that close... Kari: At least they’re not strangling each other’s throats. That’s a good thing. Back outside... Mimi: (sigh) That looked like so much fun. (whines) Why didn’t I go in? Layla: (VO) When we return after this quick break... Sasami: Could we actually be making progress? Sora: Leave Mimi alone! Misty: Why doesn’t she mind her own business? Layla: (VO) It looks like things didn’t work out as well as we thought. Also coming up... Jun: (CC) You call this fun? I’m sick and tired of being Giselle’s servant! Meilin: I’ve got the perfect plan to put that brat in her place! Duplica: Sure! What harm could it do? Layla: (VO) Stay tuned! Roomies returns after this... * * * * * * * * * * Night Eight As the sun begins to set on the Readington district of Tokyo, Sora, Mimi, Misty, Kari, and Sasami are all walking back towards the mansion. They are each carrying a handful of shopping bags. Mimi: This was such a great idea! I’ve never had so much fun in my life! Misty: It was fun... until we spent three hours watching you try on the same dress! Sasami: Go easy on her. Besides, she had to wait for us why we were playing laser tag. Mimi: I know. I miss out on all the fun! Sora: Don’t worry. The next time we go, you can play laser tag with us. Kari: I hope things are okay back at the mansion. Speaking of which, let’s check in... let’s see what’s up in Giselle and Jun’s bedroom. Jun comes in, holding a hot cup of cocoa. Giselle is lying on her bed, smirking as Jun approaches her. Jun: Here’s your cocoa, made just the way you like it. Giselle takes a sip of the cocoa. She then spits it back out in Jun’s face. Giselle: You call this cocoa? There aren’t any marshmallows! Take it back and make it the right way! Jun: (takes the cup from her and bows) I’m sorry. It won’t happen again. Giselle: It better not. Jun walks out and heads back to the kitchen. Unknown to her, Meilin is watching from around a nearby corner. Meilin: I knew it! I knew it! All I’ve got to do is to convince Jun to rebel against Giselle and I’ll be set! Day Nine In the kitchen, Sasami is at work preparing a hearty lunch for the household. While doing so, she is deep in thought over the events of the past few days. Sasami: Could we actually be making progress? It seemed like only yesterday Sora and Misty were so close to killing each other. But this morning, they come downstairs for breakfast holding hands! Is it just me, or does anyone else find that a little weird? Sasami looks around and remembers that she is alone in the kitchen. Sasami: There I go, talking to myself again. It sucks to not have anyone you know around. I miss Tenchi and the others. She then hears some yells from outside. Then, what sounds like a ball hits the side of the mansion. Sasami smiles. Sasami: (sighs) Everyone’s having fun again... as usual. Outside, Misty, Sora, Sakura, Mimi, Madison, and Yolei are playing a game of soccer. Misty, Sakura, and Madison are on one team, while Sora, Mimi, and Yolei are on the other. Chelsea is on the sidelines, keeping track of score and how much time is left. Chelsea: Thirty seconds until halftime! Misty is dribbling the ball towards the makeshift goal, where Yolei is defending nervously. Yolei: (VO) Please don’t hit me in the head! All of a sudden, Mimi slides in to steal the ball. By accident, though, she accidentally clips Misty, sending her falling to the ground. Mimi gets up first and offers Misty a hand. Mimi: Sorry about that. Can I give you a hand? Misty: (hitting Mimi’s hand away) You did that on purpose! Mimi: I did not! Sora: (running up to Misty) Leave Mimi alone! Misty: This is between me and her! Stay out of this! Sora: Relax! Mimi wasn’t aiming for your legs! Misty: Yes she was! Sora: No she wasn’t! The others run over to try and break up the argument. Mimi: Stop it! I don’t want to fight any more! Misty: Shut up! Sora: Don’t tell Mimi to shut up! Misty: What? Is that your job? Sora: Only a coward would say something like that. Misty: So you’re calling me a coward? Mimi: (crying) I said I don’t want to fight any more! Sakura: Okay, that’s it! Let’s go Misty. Help me out Madison. Sakura and Madison pull Misty away and towards the house. Misty: This isn’t over! Not by a long shot! Yolei, Chelsea, and Sora go over to console Mimi. Mimi: Why did I have to get dragged into this stupid argument? Sora: Misty knows you didn’t mean it. She’s just too stubborn to realize it. Mimi: You know what? Some people may call me an airhead, but at least I have enough common sense to realize that you’re just as much a problem as Misty is! Sora: What? Mimi: Sora! As long as you contribute to this feud, then you’re just as bad as Misty is! Sora: Mimi... Mimi: Just don’t talk to me. Mimi walks off to find a place to cry alone. Sora: Mimi! Yolei: Forget it Sora. There’s no stopping Mimi when she gets like that. Sora: (sighs) Do you think Mimi’s right? That I’m not making it any better by fighting back? Chelsea: Yep. Yolei: I say we find a way to stop this right now. Otherwise, we’ll all be at each other’s throats before long. Sora: (CC) Mimi. I’m sorry I upset you. I know Misty overreacted, but I didn’t help matters much by jumping in. I was only looking out for you. Mimi: (CC, sniffling) Just end it Sora. That’s all I ask for. I just want this whole debacle to end! In the laundry room, another rivalry is getting more intense. Jun is doing the laundry when Meilin comes in. Jun: Meilin? What’s up? Meilin: Can we talk? Jun: Sure. Let me just finish putting this load in the washer. Meilin: Let me help. The two of them put a bunch of dirty clothes in. After turning it on, the two of them make their way to the living room. Meilin: I heard that being a servant is fun. Jun: (CC) You call this fun? I’m sick and tired of being Giselle’s servant! Jun tells Meilin of the infamous cocoa spitting incident from the previous night. Meilin: So she spit the cocoa back at you? Jun: Yes. Meilin: And you didn’t fight back? Jun: No. Meilin: Are you scared of her or something? Jun: Yes. She keeps yelling at me! Every time I make even the slightest blunder, she goes off. Meilin: Don’t worry Jun. I’ve got the perfect plan to put that brat in her place! Suddenly, Giselle and Duplica enter the room. Overhearing the conversation, Giselle immediately reacts. Giselle: Meilin! Just what type of lies are you telling my friend Jun? Meilin: Your friend? She doesn’t seem to think so. Giselle: I order you to stop this nonsense! Meilin: Order? Just who do you think you are? The Queen of England? Jun: I’m tired of being your servant! I came here to enjoy myself, not become a slave! Giselle: How dare you! (to Meilin) I don’t know what you did to Jun, but... Meilin: What I did? If anyone did anything to Jun, it was you! Meilin grabs Jun by the hand and starts leading her out of the room. Meilin: It’s time someone taught you a lesson! That someone’s going to be me! And with Jun here on my side, there’s no way you can win this fight. Giselle: Now you’re fighting dirty! Duplica, who had been standing to the side the whole time, walks up to Giselle as Meilin and Jun depart. Giselle: If that’s the way Meilin wants to play... two can play at that game. (turns to Duplica) Duplica! You wouldn’t mind helping me out, would you? Duplica: (after a brief moment to think) Sure! What harm could it do? End Episode Five Layla: (VO) Next time on Roomies... Kari, Mimi, and Sasami look on as Misty and Sora continue their conversation. Layla: (VO) While one rivalry might be coming to an end... Kari: (CC) I just got done with Misty and Sora! Can’t someone else handle Meilin and Giselle? Sakura: I’m nipping this one in the bud! Layla: (VO) With that in mind, how will the girls fare in the second prize challenge? Nikki: Bikes? What am I going to do with two bikes?
