Episode 13 has arrived! Take a seat, sit back, and relax! And now, our feature presentation! Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters or any concepts from their respective shows. * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) On the last episode of Roomies... Meilin: I knew it! I always thought there was something fishy about her. Layla: (VO) The girls voice their opinions about Madison’s confession... Yolei: She likes girls! That’s all there is to it. Mimi: Yolei! I can’t believe you’d judge her like that! Giselle: Shut up! You don’t have the guts to admit that you agree with her! Mimi: How dare you! Sasami: Personally, I just think it’s nonsense. It’s all made up. Layla: (VO) Then, the girls made their way to the baseball diamond... The last one is a blooper that’s short, causing Meilin to sprint as fast as she can up towards Miss McKenzie. She dives forward and catches the ball just as her glove hits the ground. Meilin: Am I good or what? Sora: (snaps her fingers) Rats. Jun swings the bat and hits the baseball all the way to left field fence, two hundred feet away. It barely clears it, dropping down just behind it. She pumps her fist into the air in celebration. Sasami: (smiles) That’s Jun for you. Jun: (CC) How’s that for irony? I’m the first person to hit one out of the park! Layla: (VO) Which leads to an altercation afterwards... Misty: Okay Giselle, just what exactly did you say to Madison earlier today? Giselle: I have no idea what you’re talking about. Misty: But wherever there’s gossip around this house, you always seem to be right in the thick of it. Giselle: So you automatically assign blame to me, right? Well, let me tell you something, Misty. I don’t know what you heard. But I didn’t not insult Madison or her preference for Sakura. I just commented on it, that’s all. Misty: And what exactly was the comment that you made to her? Giselle glares at Misty for a brief second before heading towards the door. Misty: If so, then why won’t you tell me what you said to Madison today? Giselle: That’s for me to know and you to find out. * * * * * * * * * * Sixteen young girls Four different anime shows Forty-two days living alone in a mansion One lucky soul walks away with up to one million dollars in cash (Begin theme song, showing each of the contestants, two at a time via split screen) Casey, getting on a bike for the first time, with Zachary helping Chelsea, smiling after beating Nikki and Rita at ‘Super Smash Brothers’ Duplica, telling Giselle about the water gun fight Giselle, talking to an out of breath Misty after she had completed the first prize challenge Jun, talking to her parents on the phone Kari, struggling to resolve the conflict between Misty and Sora Madison, giving Yolei the Digiworld costume she recreated Meilin, trying to scare Sakura just before they go for their final dive Mimi, whining that she didn’t get a chance to play the virtual laser tag game at the mall Misty, commenting to herself to make sure she doesn’t have any relatives in Hong Kong Nikki, telling about Madison’s knack for designing clothes for fun Rita, noting how easily she’s gotten alone with her roommate, Sasami Sakura, celebrating after winning the bicycle race prize challenge Sasami, complaining that she’s doing all of the work around the house Sora, comforting Mimi after she got yelled at by Misty Yolei, happily hugging her Digimon, Hawkmon Some of these girls will form long lasting friendships Others will develop intense rivalries But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes These girls are... roomies! They seem to be having a lot of them, don’t they? Mimi: So? Sora: So what? Mimi: You mean you still haven’t told them? Sora: Well... Mimi: What is wrong with you, girl? Sora: I started writing a letter to Tai last night. Honest! Mimi: (raising an eyebrow) Oh? And what about Matt? Sora: I will, once I finish Tai’s. Mimi: So, which one are you keeping? Sora: You see, that’s the problem... I’m not sure. Mimi: (putting her hands on her hips) Sora! Of all the nerve! Sora: Hey! It isn’t easy choosing between the two of them! Mimi: Do you want me to make the decision for you? Sora: That’s not necessary... Mimi: Of course it is! Since it seems you can’t decide yourself. Sora: But Mimi... Mimi: (smiles) Don’t worry. I’ll choose the right guy for you. I’m a natural at this. Misty: If you’re such a natural, then how come YOU don’t have a boyfriend? Mimi and Sora look towards the doorway, where Misty is standing. An irate Mimi makes her way over to Misty. Mimi: Excuse me, Misty. Misty: You’re excused. But enough playing. I need to talk to Sora in private. Mimi: Wait your turn! I’m still talking with her! Misty: Oh, I’m sure your talk about boyfriends can wait. Mimi: (shouting at the top of her lungs) And what could be important than that? Misty: Madison. Mimi: Madison? Sora: (walking over) You mean what happened at the baseball field yesterday? Misty: (nods her head) Yes. Sora: I’ll just tell you straight up. Giselle was the one who made all the comments about Madison. Meilin didn’t say anything, but it was obvious that she also has something against her. Misty: And you? Sora: I was just trying to defend her. Misty: I see. Mimi: (groans) Are you done yet? Misty: Yes Mimi, I’m done. Mimi: Finally. Sora: As I said before, I don’t need your help choosing a boyfriend, Mimi! Misty: (as she began to walk out) You want to know my opinion? Mimi: No! Sora: (sighs) Okay, shoot. Misty: If you’re looking for a cute guy, then I’d choose Matt. But, if you’re looking for someone you’ve known since you were kids, then I’d choose Tai, out of necessity. With that, Misty departs. Sora shoots an odd look at Mimi before shrugging her shoulders. Mimi: Now, as I was saying... Sora: Oh boy... Day Twenty Five The next morning, Misty wakes up in her room. She was going to talk to Kari about the situation with Madison last night, but Kari was already asleep when she got in. She looks over at Kari’s bed, only to see that her roommate was not in bed. After taking care of her morning duties, she heads downstairs to eat some breakfast. Arriving in the kitchen, she finds that Casey is the only one there. She is finishing what remains of two scrambled eggs and a raisin bagel filled with cream cheese. Casey: Morning Misty! Ready to swing for the fences today? Misty: (heading for the refrigerator) I guess... Casey: I heard you were yelling at a few people last night. Misty: (pulling the milk carton out and heading over to the cupboard) Yeah. There was something I had to take care of. Misty opens one of the cupboards and pulls out a box of cereal. She finds a clean bowl and starts dumping some cereal into it. She then fills the bowl with milk. After putting the cereal box and the milk carton back in their proper places, she joins Casey at the table. Casey: So, if we don’t get a challenge today, what are your plans? Misty: I might try to find a solution to this problem with Madison. I was going to ask Kari about it, but I can’t seem to find her. Casey: Oh. Miss McKenzie picked Kari, Giselle, and Meilin this morning. For what reason, I have no idea. Misty: I see. The two then sat silently as they finished their breakfast. A little later, Chelsea is sitting on a couch in the second floor recreation room. She is at work writing a letter. Chelsea: Let’s see... I loved the way you... All of a sudden, Nikki and Sora walk into the room. They were heading straight over to the computers. Sora: I feel like I haven’t checked my e-mail all week. Nikki: I know. We’ve been so busy this week. I’ve barely been able to get enough sleep. Chelsea: Guys, can you keep it down? I’m trying to write a letter. Nikki: Really? To whom? Chelsea: Um... Zachary. Nikki: Come on, Chelsea. That letter’s not for Zachary. Chelsea: Okay, it’s for Richie. Happy? Sora: Richie? Really? Nikki: Ooh! Can I see what you’ve written? Chelsea: (handing the letter to Nikki) Okay, but don’t laugh. Nikki begins reading the letter, with Sora looking over her shoulder. After a few seconds, their faces turn red after glancing at a certain line. Nikki: (blushing) Oh my. Sora: I think that’s more than we needed to know, Chelsea. Chelsea: What are you guys talking about? Nikki: (pointing to the section in question) This part here, where you say that you want to be the cream of his crop, the sugar of his Sugar Daddy, and the jelly with his peanut butter. Chelsea: What’s wrong with that? Nikki: Do you know how gross that sounds? Right Sora? Sora: Actually, I’m only concerned because I think she’s too young for love letters. Chelsea: (snatching the letter back from Nikki) Oh, what do you know? Sora: I think what Nikki’s trying to say is that you should slow down a little bit. We’re concerned for you. Chelsea: What’s there to be concerned about? Sora: I’m sure Richie’s a nice guy, but still, you have to be careful. Chelsea: Don’t worry. I will. Nikki: We don’t want anything happening to you. Chelsea: Nothing’s going to happen to me. Stop worrying, you two! Sora: Okay, we will. Sora and Nikki head over to the computers while Chelsea sets off to complete her letter. * * * * * * * * * * Night Twenty Five The camera focuses on the wall next to the front door. On that wall is a piece of pink paper. On it are the words ‘Mandatory House Meeting, Tonight at 8 in the Rec Rm (1st floor).’ Fifteen minutes prior to the meeting, Kari and Misty are in the room, preparing for it. Misty: You know, I wish we didn’t have to resort to this. Kari: Hey, you said it yourself. We’ve got to help Madison. Misty: You’re right. Kari: I guess we’d better start getting everyone down here. The meeting starts promptly at eight o’clock. Misty and Kari are at the front of the room, facilitating. A set of chairs are formed in a circle around the room. Starting at Misty’s left, the girls are sitting in this order: Duplica, Sasami, Rita, Nikki, Chelsea, Casey, Sora, Mimi, Yolei, Meilin, Giselle, Jun, Sakura, and Madison. Misty: Good evening everyone. Yolei: What’s this meeting about anyway? Kari: We’re a little concerned over how Madison’s been treated the past few days. Misty: We think that some of you haven’t been fair to her. Kari: Misty and I have decided that the best way to settle this was to call a house meeting. Yolei: Why do we need a house meeting? We all feel the same way about Madison. (points to her) She’s a freak! Madison: (jumping up out of her seat) Now wait just a minute! Kari: (calming Madison down) Hold on, Madison. We’ll take care of this. Misty: Yolei! You know that that’s not a nice thing to say! Yolei: Well, that’s what she is. Madison sits back down. She glances over at Yolei, who is giving her an evil look. Kari: Anyway, tonight were going to put everyone’s opinions out for everyone to see. The main focus is on Madison, but if there’s something you want to say to anyone else in the group, feel free to say it. Misty: Okay, everyone here promises to tell the truth and nothing but the truth? She gets an affirmative nod from the rest of the girls. Misty: Does anyone want to start? Misty and Kari look around and see Giselle and Mimi both raise their hands instantly. Kari points to Giselle first. Giselle: I think it is within the best interests of all of the girls living in this house that Madison move out and be replaced by another girl, if at all possible. Misty: Really, Giselle? Kari: And who here agrees with Giselle? Yolei, Meilin, and Casey raise their hands into the air. Chelsea, Sora, and Sakura don’t raise theirs, but Kari notices that they have tentative looks on their faces. She decides to point one of them out. Kari: Chelsea! Chelsea: (jumps in surprise) What? I didn’t raise my hand, Kari! Kari: I know, but something tells me you were thinking about it. Misty: Why do you think Madison should be kicked out? Kari: No one’s going to belittle you for your response. You’re among friends here. Meilin: (glaring at Chelsea and then at Madison) That’s what you think. Misty: Meilin! Chelsea: Well, you see, I’ve known Madison for a couple of years. But never in my wildest dreams would I ever see her for who she is now. I’m just afraid for my personal safety. So to speak... Misty: You’re afraid she’ll make advances towards you? Chelsea nods affirmatively. Yolei quickly speaks up. Yolei: Actually, that’s how I felt too. Everyone turns towards Madison, who seems to be busy taking everything in and trying to understand the whole situation herself. Kari: (pointing to Mimi) Did you have something to add, Mimi? Mimi: (standing up) Yes, I do. (turns to face the others) I’m sure that there are some of us who don’t approve of Madison’s infatuation for Sakura. Myself included, of course. Still, I think she has the freedom to like whomever she wishes to, regardless of whether it’s a boy or a girl. And I’m pretty sure we have no right to kick her out of the mansion. Kari: That’s true. If I remember right, someone can be removed only if they pose a safety risk to the other residents. Yolei: Does Madison’s case count as one of those situations? Meilin: I think it does. Let’s kick her out. Misty: Meilin, that’s enough! Meilin: Well, you said we could express what was on our minds. Sasami: (standing up) Speaking of which, I’d like to say something. Kari: Go ahead, Sasami. Sasami: (coughing to clear her throat) I agree with Mimi. We should just let Madison be. If we would’ve done that, we wouldn’t have to have this meeting. Kari: That’s true as well. Misty: Anyone else want to add to the debate? (sees Rita’s hand in the air) Rita? Rita: I think Madison’s decision to admit her love to Sakura was ill-timed. Still, I have to applaud her maturity for having the guts to say it out loud. Misty: Uh huh. I see. Madison: What does maturity have to do with my confession? Rita: I think it has a lot to do with it. Kari: Now, wait a minute. I don’t see where this is going. Giselle: Agreed. That’s the stupidest argument that I’ve ever heard. Misty: Maybe we should hear what Madison has to say. She’s been rather quiet the whole meeting. Everyone turns towards Madison again. That makes her a little bit nervous. Kari: Madison, I want your honest opinion. Have you been threatened by any of the girls in this room in the past four days? Madison: Well... Kari: Go ahead. Don’t be afraid. Misty: Yeah! We’re all here to help. Madison: To be honest, I don’t think anyone’s threatened me. Kari: Really? Madison: But everyone’s scared of me, that’s for sure. Misty: Have you ever regretted making that statement in public? Madison: (sadly) Yes. I wish I had never made it. Kari: Have you and Sakura actually talked about it since then? Madison: We haven’t talked since the incident, actually. Everyone’s eyes then turn to Sakura, expecting her to respond. Sakura: Well Madison, I haven’t talked to you because I’m afraid of you. Madison: Afraid? Sakura: Yeah. I’m afraid that the past will repeat itself. Madison: The past? Sakura: Remember what happened when I met your mom for the first time? Madison: Yes, I do. Sakura: Well, I remember that she looked at herself as a protector of my mom. And then she was heartbroken when my parents got married. Madison: Uh huh. I understand. Sakura: And I think that we’re kind of going through the same thing. You tend to follow me with your video camera everywhere I go. I always thought it was weird, but I was afraid to tell you so because I thought I might hurt your feelings. And tonight, I feel the same way. I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but I’m going to have to. (sighs) Madison, I’m not in love with you. The room falls dead silent. After a few seconds, Madison begins to sniffle a bit. Tears begin to well up in her eyes. Eventually, she starts crying. Wailing out loud, Sakura takes her friend by the hand and allows her to cry into her blouse. This got her a strange look from Yolei, but a relieved sigh from most of the others. Kari: (smiles) I think everything’s okay now. We’d better leave Sakura and Madison to wrap things up in private. Misty: I officially adjourn this meeting... unless someone has something to say. Misty looks around and sees that no one objects. Misty: Then, the meeting is over. The girls start walking out of the room and off to do their own private things. As Sakura continues to console Madison, a small group consisting of Misty, Kari, Chelsea, and Meilin. Meilin: I told you that Sakura didn’t want anything to do with Madison. Misty: Meilin, give me a break. Kari: You didn’t know anything! Meilin: So? The good thing is Madison is no longer in love with Sakura, which means we have no need to worry about her ganging up on us. Chelsea: Gee, I never knew Sakura and Madison’s moms were that close. Kari: There’s a lot we don’t know about each other. Even things we may not know about our best friends. Misty: Like how Giselle can be such a jerk sometimes. Kari: (giggles) I second that. Meilin: Or what kind of romantic fantasies we have. Chelsea: I guess we’ve failed at being Roomies. Kari: What do you mean? Chelsea: Sure, we’re here to win the prizes as well as all that money, but I think all this time we should be getting to know each other. Misty: Chelsea’s right. I think we’d agree that no one in this household knows one thing about everyone else, right? Meilin: Yeah. Misty: I think it’s time we changed our strategy. Chelsea: It’s sad when we have to team up with seven other girls every week and not be able to talk to them because we don’t know each other well. Kari: Besides, we’re voting who wins this thing ourselves, right? I think the person who gets along with everyone else should be the one who wins, regardless of how much money or how many prizes they’ve won. Meilin: (shrugs her shoulders) If you say so. She then walks off, to the surprise of the others. Misty: (CC) Like I said before, Giselle can be quite the jerk. Then again, Meilin can be just as annoying. Whose idea was it to let both of them in? I would’ve preferred Jessie. She may not be the perfect role model, but she’s better than those two girls combined. Kari: (CC) Another conflict resolved! I’m getting good at this! Although it is a bit taxing for me to handle week in and week out. Chelsea: (CC) I’m glad that Madison and Sakura don’t love each other. I was always cool with them being friends, but nothing more personal than that. I think we’ll all remember the past few days for the rest of our lives. The trio looks back into the room. They see that Madison has stopped crying and she is now talking it out with Sakura. * * * * * * * * * * Day Twenty Six In order to continue their personal discussion, Sakura and Madison decide to go out and find a private place to talk. With them out of the house, it seems that things are back to normal inside the mansion. All of a sudden, the peaceful tranquility is broken by the sound of the doorbell ringing. Sasami goes to answer the door. Sasami: (opens the door) Hello there! She sees a mailman standing there, with a package in one hand and a clipboard in the other. Mailman: Package for Jun Motimiya. Sasami: Does she need to sign it or can I take it? Mailman: She must sign for it personally. Sasami: (yelling into the house) Jun! There’s a package for you! After about a minute, Jun comes running down the stairs. She quickly signs for the package, takes it, and slams the door in the mailman’s face. Sasami: Wasn’t that a little rude? Jun: Huh? Oh, I guess it was. Jun reopens the door and yells at him. Jun: Sorry about that! Say, you want to make it up over a date? Yeah? Call me! With that, Jun closes the front door. She turns to Sasami, who sweatdrops. Sasami: You have got to be kidding me. Jun: What? I’m not trying to be a rude. I’d never have any friends if people thought of me that way. Jun carries the package to the kitchen, with Sasami following her. As the duo arrives there, they find Kari and Yolei in there, helping Sasami prepare lunch. Jun sets it down on the counter and sees who it’s from. Jun: Let’s see... it’s from my brother? Yolei: Davis? Jun: Why would he be sending me a package? Kari: Maybe he just addressed to you when in reality it’s for me. Yolei: Doesn’t he know when to quit? Jun: I don’t know. It must be something really important if he addressed it to me. Jun opens it as the others look on. But once she gets it open, though, their faces begin to blush red. Jun slowly pulls a sun bright yellow two-piece bikini into the view of the camera. Jun: Ooookay. Yolei: This is weird. Even for Davis. Sasami: Are you sure it’s for you, Jun? It looks a little small. Sure enough, when she checked the tag, she saw that it was a girl’s medium. Jun: I think you’re right. Kari: Then who’s it for? Yolei: (smiles coyly) I think we all know the answer to that. The trio glances over at Kari as they imagine what she’d look like with the swimsuit on. Yolei: Perfecto! Sasami: It’s gotta be for you, Kari. Jun: As much as it pains me to say it, I have to agree with them. Kari: No way! If Davis thinks this is a good way to impress me, then he’s got another thing coming. Yolei: I agree that it’s not the most conventional way to impress a girl, but still, you have to give Davis credit. Jun: I should’ve thought of that for Matt. He would have loved the one piece thong I’m thinking about. Sasami: (shudders) I’d rather not think about that, Jun. Yolei: (eyes brighten up) Hey, I have an idea! Why don’t you try it on, Kari? Kari: Yolei, are you nuts? There’s no way I’m putting something like that on. Yolei: Come on, it’ll be fun! Kari: If I was more like you or Mimi, then I wouldn’t mind. But I’m not! Sasami: What harm could it do? I say you should go for it. Kari: Absolutely not! I wouldn’t wear that thing even if a stuffed toy flew by here right at this very moment. As if on cue, Kero flies into the room, attracted by the heavenly smell of a small gelatin cake that was being prepared for dinner later that evening. Kero: Wow! Cake! Sakura: (yelling from the hall) Kero! Kero: Uh oh, gotta go! Kero flies out of the room as Sakura enters it. She continues to chase after him, with Madison back to her usual habits... videotaping the whole thing, of course. Sakura: Kero, get back here! I thought I told you that you weren’t allowed in the mansion! How did you find your way here anyway? As the group runs off into another part of the mansion, the girls sweatdrop. They then look at Kari once again. Kari: I am absolutely, positively not putting on that bikini! And there’s nothing you can do that’ll change my mind. A few minutes later... Jun smiles as she leads Kari back into the kitchen. Sure enough, Kari is wearing the swimsuit. Sasami can hardly contain her laughter, while Yolei is grinning from ear to ear. Kari: (putting her hands on her hips) I knew I’d look stupid in this bikini. Sasami: (giggling) No... it’s just that Davis got your size perfectly. Kari: Huh? Yolei: I’m pretty sure that Davis has never asked for your size. Still, you have to admit that he predicted well. Jun: (examining Kari) I have to admit, it does seem to fit you. It’s not too big that it looks baggy, yet it’s also not too small that it’s showing anything. Kari: (blushing) Still, I don’t like it! Yolei: Oh, come on Kari! Give it a chance! Sasami: I have to say, Davis is quite the romantic! Kari: I can’t believe all of you! Don’t you realize how insulting this is? Sasami: What do you mean? Jun: She means that she thinks it’s strange that Davis sent her a swimsuit. Before you know it, he could be sending her something more intimate! She thinks that this is an insult. That Davis had no right to do this. (smirks) But in my opinion, I think he has a crush on you, Kari. Kari: That’s not true! I don’t like Davis! And I’m certainly not going to like him after this! The next time I see him, I’m giving him a piece of my mind! Yolei: Lighten up. I’m pretty sure it’s some dare that the other boys put on Davis or something. I bet this is all a joke! Kari: But what if it isn’t, Yolei? What if it isn’t? With that, Kari walks out of the kitchen and heads off to change back to her regular clothes. Jun: I don’t know why you hang out with her all the time, Yolei. She’s weird. Yolei: You chased after Matt for months even though you knew he didn’t like you and you’re calling me weird? Sasami: (sighs) I guess we’d better get back to work. Lunch has to be finished in half an hour. Yolei: I don’t think Kari’s coming back for awhile. (turns to Jun) Want to help? Jun: (shrugs her shoulders) Eh, why not? It’s not like I’m doing anything. Night Twenty Six After a little convincing, Misty manages to drag Giselle, Duplica, and Casey out of the mansion and into the busy streets of Reedington on this fabulous Friday night. Duplica: Wow! The streets of the Reedington district sure are busy. Misty: Yeah. I guess everyone decided to take advantage of this beautiful night. Casey: Um, Misty? Misty: What? Casey: I think I’m a little too young for this. Misty: Nonsense. Besides, it’s not like we’re going to a night club. Giselle: So what exactly are we going to do? Misty: Beats me. Giselle: So why did you drag me out here? Duplica: I’ve got a great idea! There’s this carnival that’s set up at King Penguin Park. I think we should go there. They’ve got rides and cotton candy and everything! Casey: Are you serious? Let’s go there right now! Giselle: Okay, sure! Misty: It’s agreed then. We’re heading for the carnival! The four girls run out for their own little night on the town. End Episode Thirteen Layla: (VO) Next time, on Roomies... Mihoshi: Oh, can I introduce this one? Kiyone: (sighs) Okay.
