First of two episodes scheduled to air this week. Hope you enjoy it! We’re almost to the end, folks. Only a few more weeks to go... Another note... today, you’ll get a peek at the current standings after four weeks. Who’s in the lead? Who’s off the pace really bad? Tune in at the end of the episode to find out! Disclaimer: I do not own the participants of the Roomies fanfic reality series. If I did, I’d locked them all in five by ten feet cages, feeding them twice a day, and only let them out if they had to go to the bathroom. Sike... I’m just kidding! I would never do that! * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) Last episode... Misty: Giselle! I think it’s time we had a talk, one-on-one! Giselle: (looking up from her plate) Can’t it wait? I’m still eating breakfast. Layla: (VO) The Misty-Giselle rivalry becomes personal... Misty: See? That’s what I’m talking about! If you can’t get your way by force, then you’ll get it using pleasurable persuasion. You’re using people! Giselle: (smirks) You’re not that much different. You’re using Ash, aren’t you? Giselle begins to head back inside when all of a sudden, she turns, grabs Misty by the suspenders, and pulls her face up to her own. Giselle: No offense Misty, but this time, it’s war. I’m going to make these last two weeks a living nightmare for you. She lets go and struts her way back inside. Layla: (VO) But the main focus was on the karaoke contest... Sakura: What about doing one of those Destiny’s Child videos? Madison: Hey, that’s not a bad idea, Sakura! Just think of the possibilities! Sasami: (CC) We’ve decided that for the boy band round, we’re going to sing “Summer Girls” by LFO. I haven’t heard it personally before, but now that I’m seeing it for the first time, I like it! Giselle: You know, I’d sing a Mariah Carey song if I had that type of vocal range. Jun: Oh, stop kidding Giselle. You wouldn’t sing that song even if you had the talent! Layla: (VO) Which led to the big show itself... Sora: Well, we thought about it for awhile before finally deciding that we’re going to do “This is Me” from Dream. Kari, Meilin, Sora, and Chelsea: (singing) That was her [Chelsea: That was her] And baby this is me [Chelsea: This is me] [Sora: This is me...] Giselle: And what better song than Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious!” The girls repeat the chorus once more, but this time when Sakura’s solo line comes up, she humps the stage floor once as she sings it. Kiyone: Madison Taylor, performing Mariah Carey’s “I Still Believe.” Madison: (singing) I still believe someday you and me will find ourselves in love again. Kiyone: Here’s Mimi Tachikawa, singing Whitney Houston’s “My Love is Your Love.” Mimi: (singing) It’s okay if you’re sleeping with me Jun: We’ve decided to sing “I Do” from 98 Degrees. Yolei, Jun, Duplica, and Misty: (singing) I do Cherish you Sasami: We’ve decided to sing “Summer Girls” by LFO. Sasami, Rita, and Casey: (singing) New Kids On The Block Had a bunch of hits Chinese food makes me sick Layla: (VO) And the winners are... Kiyone: Winning by a score of 79 to 76.5, the winners by a clean sweep of the competition, are the yellow team, led by captain Madison Taylor! Layla: (VO) Wow! What a competition! But what awaits our girls next? Stay tuned... * * * * * * * * * * Sixteen young girls Four different anime shows Forty-two days living alone in a mansion One lucky soul walks away with up to one million dollars in cash (Begin theme song, showing each of the contestants, two at a time via split screen) Casey, getting on a bike for the first time, with Zachary helping Chelsea, smiling after beating Nikki and Rita at ‘Super Smash Brothers’ Duplica, telling Giselle about the water gun fight Giselle, talking to an out of breath Misty after she had completed the first prize challenge Jun, talking to her parents on the phone Kari, struggling to resolve the conflict between Misty and Sora Madison, giving Yolei the Digiworld costume she recreated Meilin, trying to scare Sakura just before they go for their final dive Mimi, whining that she didn’t get a chance to play the virtual laser tag game at the mall Misty, commenting to herself to make sure she doesn’t have any relatives in Hong Kong Nikki, telling about Madison’s knack for designing clothes for fun Rita, noting how easily she’s gotten alone with her roommate, Sasami Sakura, celebrating after winning the bicycle race prize challenge Sasami, complaining that she’s doing all of the work around the house Sora, comforting Mimi after she got yelled at by Misty Yolei, happily hugging her Digimon, Hawkmon Some of these girls will form long lasting friendships Others will develop intense rivalries But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes These girls are... roomies! Mimi, dressed in her pink pajamas, gets out of her bed. She glances over to the other side of the room and sees that Sora, suprisingly enough, is still in bed and still asleep. Mimi then looks at the clock and sees that it is seven thirteen. Mimi: (rubbing her eyes with the back of her right hand) Why am I up so early? Mimi looks at the calendar hanging above her bed. She sees that it reads Monday, June 11th. She then remembers that it’s her turn to cook breakfast. She quickly runs out of the room, grabbing a towel, a bottle of shampoo, and her soap dish container along the way. As she approaches the bathroom, she sees Meilin, also dressed in her pajamas, of green coloring, reaching for the doorknob. Mimi: Meilin! Wait! Meilin: (turns towards Mimi) Huh? Mimi pushes Meilin out of the way, opens the door to the bathroom, and locks it behind her. Meilin picks herself up and starts banging on the door. Meilin: Hey! Tachikawa! I was next! Mimi: (yelling from inside) Sorry! But I have breakfast duty today! Meilin: But Sasami’s already down in the kitchen! Gimme back my turn! It was too late though... Meilin already heard the shower start. Meilin growled to herself as she tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for Mimi to finish. Downstairs in the kitchen, Sasami is already thawing out some bacon strips. At the same time, she is prepping the stove for cheese omelettes. All of a sudden, Chelsea walks into the kitchen. She’s already dressed in her regular clothes, yet her hair is not tied up in the two pigtails that she’s usually seen in. Sasami: Chelsea? What are you doing up this early? You look terrible! Chelsea: (not fully awake) I couldn’t sleep at all last night. Sasami: Why not? Chelsea: Well... I’ve been thinking a lot about Zachary lately. Sasami: Zachary... oh, the guy that was helping out at the bike challenge a couple weeks back, right? Chelsea: Yeah, that’s him. I’m worried about what he’ll think of me after all of this flirting I’ve been doing with Richie the past week. Sasami: I wouldn’t necessarily call it flirting... Chelsea: Now that you mention, I think Richie’s been more interested in me than I’ve been interested in him. Sasami: (giggles) Oh yeah. Remember how you were playing around with Richie and the others when we were in Pallet Town? Chelsea: (sweatdrops) Don’t remind me. It’s like everyday someone new finds out about that. It’ll be a matter of time before Zachary finds out himself. Then what? Sasami: The way you talk about Zachary makes me think that you haven’t exactly exterminated your romantic ties to him, right? Chelsea: (sighs as she sits down at the table) Let’s just say I miss his jokes. Sasami: Come on. I know there’s more to it than that. Chelsea: Okay, so I miss more than his jokes. I like his goofy smile. I like the way he... Sasami: (rolls her eyes and laughs) Okay, stop right there, Chelsea. Nikki told me how you were describing Richie when you wrote that letter to him a few days ago. The last thing we need is you thinking about whom you should profess your love to. Chelsea: Sure. Still, how am I supposed to decide? Richie’s cute and all, but there’s something about Zachary that keeps drawing me back to him. Sasami: Just do what any other self respecting girl with a tough decision like this would do. Chelsea: And that is? Sasami: (sweatdrops) I thought you would know stuff like this. You know, go after the one that’s true to your heart. Chelsea: True to my heart? Giselle: Do what Sasami says. She’s right, you know. The duo turns, and yes, once again, Giselle is listening in on their conversation. She is holding a laundry basket full of clean, yet unfolded clothes. Sasami and Chelsea glare at Giselle. Seeing this, Giselle nervously tiptoes her way out of the kitchen and towards the stairs. The duo relaxes once they are sure Giselle is out of sight. Chelsea: I’m tired of her eavesdropping on people’s conversations. Sasami: Maybe we should tell her to stop. Chelsea: (shakes her head) That’s Misty’s department. Besides, after the talk I heard them get into the other day, they’d kill for a chance to prove each other wrong. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Back upstairs, Giselle makes her way to her room. As she does though, she sees Meilin standing outside of the bathroom. Curiosity gets the best of her as she walks over to Meilin. Giselle: You don’t look so bright this morning... Meilin: Can it! I’m already mad at one person... I’d probably explode if I got angry at another one. Giselle: (smiles) Mind if I fill that role? Sora: (coming out of her room) Why are you two so noisy? I’m trying to sleep here! Giselle: Meilin here was pounding on the bathroom door for some reason. I heard it all the way from the laundry room. Meilin: I was banging on the door because Mimi jumped in front of me and took the bathroom! Sora: (groggily) Is that all? Meilin: Is that all? That was totally selfish of Mimi! Sora: She does have breakfast duty, you know. It’s on the calendar in our room. Meilin: But Sasami’s already downstairs! I heard her! Giselle: Meilin, give it up. No one wants to hear you argue. Sora: Just be patient. I’ll talk to Mimi when she gets out. With that, Sora and Giselle head back to their respective rooms. About four hours later, Mimi is now slaving around in the kitchen alone, thanks to not waking up early enough to fix breakfast. Mimi: Why’d Sasami have to assign me lunch and dinner? This is so unfair! Misty and Giselle walk into the kitchen, eyeing each other. After their scuffle two days ago, they were both looking for a chance to trip to the other one up. Of course, they’re temporarily distracted when they hear Mimi’s whining. Misty: Lunch and dinner, huh? What happened? Giselle: (smirks) Mimi didn’t wake up at six thirty to start breakfast, so Sasami ended up making it. As punishment, Sasami made Mimi fix lunch and dinner today. Mimi: (angry) That’s not funny, Giselle! Giselle: It wouldn’t have happened if you would’ve set your alarm clock. Mimi: But I did! I swear, I set it for six o’clock! Misty: I thought you had it set for nine? At least, that was what Sora told me when I talked to her earlier. Madison: (entering the room) What’s with all the noise, guys? I’m trying to tape a fashion show! Looking for relief, Mimi focuses her attention on Madison and suddenly brings up a reason to start an argument with her. Mimi: Madison! How did you beat me last night? Madison: Huh? Mimi: You can’t be a better singer than I am! I had the whole crowd in the palm of my hand! Madison: Beats me. It’s not like I can read minds. Mimi: Come on! I had the best song, the best moves, and the best dress, and I still didn’t beat you! Madison: I told you Mimi, it was not my decision to make. They just thought that I was better than you were. There’s no debating the result. Mimi: You saw everyone looking at me! They were mesmerized by singing! Madison: Only because you decided to dress like a slut! Mimi: (gasps) How dare you! Madison: It’s true. Misty: That sounds like something Giselle would say. Giselle: Hey, don’t drag me into this argument! We were on the same team, anyway! Madison: It probably wouldn’t have happened if you would’ve let me pick out a costume for you. Mimi: (turns away from Madison) Like I’d want any of your tasteless Odaiba fashions. Madison: Well, that New York outfit of yours isn’t exactly what I’d call elegant. Mimi: Who asked you? I’ve got more fashion sense than you’ve got costumes! Madison: At least I’m not a sore loser. Mimi gasps at this remark. Madison smiles as she gives Misty and Giselle a quick glance before heading out of the kitchen. Madison: I’ll be in the recreation room if anybody needs me. Giselle: (as Madison leaves) Is that the first time Madison’s won an argument? Misty: Beats me, but she certainly knows the right keys to push. Mimi ignored Misty and Giselle’s comments as she went back to work fixing lunch. Night Twenty Nine Mimi: (CC) Did Madison really beat me because she can sing better than I can? Mimi ponders the thought as she glances out her bedroom window. All of a sudden, Sora comes barging into the room. Sora: Mimi! I’ve got to tell you something! Mimi: What? You want to laugh at me for being a sore loser too? Sora: No. But I’ve been thinking... we’ve played enough games. Mimi: Games? What are you talking about? Sora: Mimi, we’ve only got two weeks left. You’re establishing yourself as a whiny crybaby. Mimi: Hey! Sora: Wait, I’m going somewhere with this. I’ve established that I’m one of the more athletic and intelligent girls in the house, since I’ve been on the winning teams of all of the physical challenges so far. Mimi: What about the one yesterday? We were on the same team and we lost! Sora: I know, that’s the one exception. But I think it’s time we team up for once. Mimi: Why’s that? Sora: We’re not pulling enough weight on our own. No one’s going to vote for me because I can do practically anything. No one’s going to vote for you because you’re too airheaded to realize the importance of these challenges. Mimi: (whimpers) You called me airheaded... Sora: I say teaming up’s the best way to balance our skills out. Without it, we don’t stand a chance! Mimi: But just us two? What about Kari? Yolei? Jun? They’re from our show too. Sora: This isn’t an alliance between shows! This is an alliance between best friends! We can’t have Kari involved because she obviously outshines both of us. Yolei’s still paranoid about Madison, so associating with her wouldn’t be smart right now. Mimi: What about Jun? Oh wait... she still hates you for taking Matt from her, right? Sora: Yeah, though I haven’t heard her complain about it that much since we got here almost a month ago. Mimi: I think because of all that stuff Giselle put her through, remember? Jun’s lucky if she can even function normally by the time this is all over! Sora: (laughs) So, what do you say? Sora and Mimi all the way? Mimi: Yeah! Sora and Mimi all the way! The two hug each other. Sora then leaves the room as Mimi goes back to staring out the window. Sora: (CC) Sorry Mimi, but the only way I’m going to win is to drag you along for the ride. If I help your performance in the challenges, everyone’s sure to see my good side. Mimi: (CC) Sora’s not fooling me one bit. We may be best friends, but even alliances in competitions like this aren’t worth it. But if she wants to play, I’ll play! Day Thirty The eerie silence of the mansion at six o’clock in the morning was broken by the ringing of the doorbell. After several minutes of ringing, Kari finally makes her way down the stairs and opens the door. She finds Miss McKenzie standing there. Kari: Morning Miss McKenzie. Layla: Good morning, Kari. Kari: Isn’t it a bit early for a challenge? Layla: That’s not why I’m here. It’s urgent that I see Jun right away. Could you please get her? Kari: (with a look of surprise on her face) Jun? Oh, sure. Be right back. Kari runs off to retrieve Jun. A few minutes later, thanks to the consistent ringing, several of the girls were already waiting to use the bathroom. But Jun bypassed all of that and headed down the stairs to the waiting Miss McKenzie. Jun: Oh... Miss McKenzie. Layla: I have some startling news I must share with you. May we go to the living room? Jun: Huh? Oh... okay, I guess. The two take a seat in the living room. Miss McKenzie decides to get right to the point. Layla: I got a call from the Viridian City General Hospital at about one thirty this morning. I have bad news to report... your younger brother, Davis, was injured during a physical challenge. Jun: (crying) No. It can’t be! Jun couldn’t believe it. Sure, her brother might not have been one of the smartest boys she knew, but he was her brother nevertheless. The ties between them were unbreakable. Many people wouldn’t know, but Jun and Davis got along pretty well. They always had a knack for knowing when the other was hurt. But for some reason, Jun didn’t detect anything of the sort prior to this morning. Layla: I’m not sure what his condition was, but he was in surgery. They didn’t give me exact details of what happened, either. Jun: (still crying) Is he going to be okay? Layla: I don’t know. I’ve been trying to reach them since then for an update, but the phone lines are jammed. Jun was still in disbelief. Here she was in Reedington while her younger brother lie helpless in an emergency room in Viridian City! Miss McKenzie mentioned something about already notifying their parents, but Jun didn’t quite hear her. She was breaking down, inside and out. She feared the worst had happened. She didn’t want to lose her brother, no matter how annoying he is. Jun figures that the only place to release her sorrow in private was to go outside. She runs out of the room and heads for the front door. She opens it and runs out and down the hill, towards a big oak tree that was located just a few feet from the front gate. Miss McKenzie, from the front door, sadly looked on. But she felt that Jun’s brother Davis would be alright. A couple of minutes later, Sasami and Sakura are talking in the kitchen. They are both sipping on a hot cup of cocoa. Hearing what happened to Jun, they too are concerned about her. Sasami: Did Jun just run out of the mansion in tears? Sakura: Miss McKenzie just said that someone in the family got injured really bad. Though she didn’t give any details. Sasami: That’s so sad. I hope Jun’s going to be okay. The two of them silently pray for Davis’s safety. Outside, by the tree, Jun is weeping her heart out. She was going to do that until she couldn’t cry any more, or until she found out Davis’s exact condition. * * * * * * * * * * Just before ten o’clock, Miss McKenzie reenters the mansion grounds and goes up to Jun. Layla: I’ve just spoken with the doctors at the hospital, Jun. Jun: So? How’s Davis? Is he okay? Layla: According to what Professor Oak told me, while doing a performance, your brother lost his footing and fell off the stage and down to the concrete floor, landing on his right ankle. Jun: Is it life threatening? Layla: No... it seems his only injury is the ankle itself. Though the doctors aren’t sure yet if he’ll be released today; they seemed to be pleased with Davis’s recovery. Jun: Will I be able to see him? Layla: Not unless he gets pulled out of the mansion. Then, we’ll see. Jun relaxed, glad that Davis will be okay. She just hopes that the injury isn’t so bad that it forces Davis out of the competition. Layla: (smiles) I promise to keep you updated on Davis’s condition. In the meantime, you should focus on finishing your stay here. Okay? Jun: (nods her head) Okay. Thanks, Miss McKenzie. Miss McKenzie invites Jun to give her a hug. Jun does so, happy that Miss McKenzie was so supportive of her. Night Thirty Rita: Has anyone seen Chelsea around? Rita is looking into the first floor recreation room. In there, Sora, Kari, Misty, and Sasami are all on the computers, doing various things. Sakura, Madison, and Nikki are sitting on the couch, watching a Japanese hospital drama. Rita: Hello! Anyone? Sakura: (without turning away from the TV) Have you checked her bedroom? Rita: Yeah. Casey said she hasn’t seen her since dinner. Sakura: That’s weird. Rita: (leaving the room) She’s gotta be around somewhere... Rita continues to search the mansion. After going from top to bottom and from front to back, she finally locates Chelsea outside, lying down on the grass in the front yard. Running out, she goes over to Chelsea. It looks like she has passed out, with her holding a piece of paper between her hands and over her chest. Rita, assuming the worst, kneels down to awaken Chelsea. Rita: Chelsea! Wake up! Are you okay? Chelsea: (coming out of her trance) Huh? What? Rita: What happened? You passed out on the grass! Chelsea: (laughs nervously) I did? Imagine that... Rita: (snatching the paper from Chelsea’s grasp) Let me guess... Richie replied to your letter, right? Chelsea: Hey! Why does everyone insist in butting into my love life? Rita: (beginning to read the letter) Because you made it public to everyone, that’s why. Chelsea waits nervously as Rita reads through the letter. Rita then gasps in amazement. Rita: No way! You actually scored a date with Richie? Chelsea: I know! I couldn’t believe it either! But it’s right there, in black and white! Rita: I am so happy for you! Chelsea: Me too! Rita: Wait... what about Zachary? Chelsea: Huh? Man, you just had to remind me about him, didn’t you? Rita: You still have feelings for Zachary, I know. But this kind of opportunity only comes around once in a lifetime! Who knows if some guy will love you the same way Richie does? Chelsea: Let me worry about Richie first. Then I’ll talk about how to break this to Zachary. Rita: (as Chelsea heads inside) I’m warning you, Chelsea. You’re just asking for them both to dump you. Chelsea: What do you mean? Rita: You’ll see, Chelsea. You’ll see. Day Thirty One Duplica goes out to the mailbox and pulls out a manila envelope from it. She takes it inside. As usual, everyone gathers in the first floor recreation room. Duplica pulls out the videotape from inside the envelope and puts it in the VCR. It plays instantly. Layla: (holding a video camcorder that’s pointed at the main camera) I see you! (pulls it down) Here’s your chance to win the camcorder that’s in my hand. You’ll have to use it first to win it, though. For this challenge, you’ll have to keep your eyes open! You can start by opening the envelope and peeking in on the specific details of this challenge. Good luck! As the tape ends, Duplica pulls out the contents of the envelope, which include the instructions for the prize challenge and where to meet to begin it. Madison: It’s a video scavenger hunt! Cool! Sakura: Wow Madison... you’re getting all the luck! Yolei: (CC) For some reason, I think Madison’s getting special treatment. First the karaoke, now this! Madison: (CC) I missed out on winning that regular camera earlier. No way am I missing out on winning this camcorder! I hope it has all the features that I want. There’s no way I’m going to miss Sakura capturing a Clow Card now! The girls gather out in the front yard, where Miss McKenzie is waiting outside. Behind her, a table is set up with four camcorders on it. Layla: Good afternoon, ladies! Today’s prize challenge is a video scavenger hunt. You ladies will be split into teams of four. Each team will get a video camera. With it, you’ll go around the city trying to catch on video five certain events or locations. Any team that manages to complete four out of five tasks in two hours or less will have their names entered in the drawing to win one of the cameras themselves. Misty: That’s so amazing! Layla: Today’s prize is a JVC GR-SXM330U: a VHS-camcorder with LCD monitor, image stabilization, and snapshot capabilities. It also has a built-in auto light, a computer editing capability, rechargable batteries, and a 16x optical zoom magnification. At a retail price of $550, this is one of the best video cameras in the world. I’m sure a lot of you will enjoy this. Sasami: This ought to be fun! [The team assignments (picked in random order): Alpha - Rita, Giselle, Jun, and Kari Bravo - Sasami, Duplica, Madison, and Sakura Charlie - Nikki, Chelsea, Mimi, and Sora Delta - Yolei, Meilin, Casey, and Misty] Layla: The rules are simple. I’m about to hand you a small white envelope which contains a list of five events that you must videotape. When recording this event, at least two of the team members must be in the picture. Also note that I will go through the tapes afterwards and check for correctness. An event will not be counted if I feel that you have not met the required qualifications. Understand? The four teams nod. Layla: You may get your camcorders and your envelopes. The challenge begins now. You have two hours. Good luck. The teams grab their camcorders and envelopes and head down the hill and out the front gate. Layla: (VO) As I mentioned at the beginning of the challenge, the teams are required to videotape five certain events or locations. They can go about it any order they like. The first task is a rather easy one... Go to a place at the local elementary school where one defends a ball from going into it. Let’s see if the teams can figure the clue out... Right off the bat, all four teams head off towards Reedington Elementary School. The bravo team arrives there first, with Sakura in the lead, followed by Duplica, Sasami, and Madison, who is holding the camera. Sakura leads them to the soccer goals, which is the correct location. Sakura: This is it! Quick Duplica, join me inside the net! Madison: (getting into position) I’m ready and rolling! Sasami: Hurray! One down, four to go! Madison records Sakura and Duplica for about fifteen seconds, making sure to get some of the school in the background. Once that’s done, they run off, examining the second clue as they go. The alpha team arrives next. Using the same goal as the bravo team, Rita, Jun, and Giselle take their place in between the goal posts of the net, with Kari taping them with the camera. She also gets some of the school in the background. After completing that task, they too promptly leave. The delta team and the charlie team arrive almost simultaneously. They take goals on opposite sides of the field as they also complete the task successfully before moving on. Layla: (VO) The second event yields this clue... at this location, you’ll be directly under the bridge that was destroyed more than seven years ago by ‘monsters.’ The charlie team immediately knows the answer... Sora: Highton View Terrace! That’s where Digimon appeared in the real world for the first time... seven years ago! Mimi: But how do we get there? It’s a good half an hour from here. Nikki: Should we risk it? Sora: I think we should. I’m sure Kari is the only other person who knows right off the bat where Highton View Terrace is, as well as its significance. We can potentially earn ourselves a free point. I say we take the chance. Mimi: But it’s too far, Sora! Who knows what’s involved in the other tasks? Sora: Mimi, listen to me for once! This is the right thing to do! Chelsea: (viewing the team through the camera) We could always take the subway, you know. Nikki: Yeah, but do we have enough money? Sora: I hope we do. It’s the best chance we have at winning this. Let’s do it! The charlie team heads off for the nearest subway station. Meanwhile, as predicted by Sora, Kari of the alpha team also solves the clue and is guiding her team to the right location. Giselle: Are you sure about this? Kari: Trust me. I was only four when the Digimon made their first real world appearance at Highton View Terrace... an Agumon and a Parrotmon. It’s gotta be there. Jun: What are waiting for, then? Let’s go! The alpha team runs off, deciding to go by foot to Highton View Terrace. Meanwhile, the bravo and delta teams are having a lot of trouble figuring the clue out. First, the bravo team... Sasami: Sakura, Madison, you two are from Tokyo. Does anything ring a bell? Sakura: I was only three at the time! You expect me to remember something like that? Madison: Well, we could always go to the library and look it up in the old newspaper headlines. Duplica: It’s worth a try. How much time do we have? Madison: (looking at her watch) An hour and forty two minutes. Sakura: Come on, then! Let’s hightail it to the library! And now, the delta team... Meilin: Yolei, you’re supposed to know this stuff! Yolei: It seems like I should know this place... but really, I’m clueless here. Misty: (sarcastically) That’s just great. Casey: Just skip it! Meilin: Casey’s right. Just move on to the next task. We can’t worry about something as minuscule as this. Layla: (VO) The third task reads as follows... climb to the top of the city’s tallest building, using the elevator only on the return trip down. Meilin: The Tokyo Tower! Yolei: Of course! But does that mean we have to climb all the way up the stairs? Misty: (holding the camera) Of course. But at least you don’t have to do while lugging this camcorder! As the delta team makes their way to Tokyo Tower, the alpha team is on foot, heading to Highton View Terrace. The charlie team, however, has already arrived there, thanks to the subway. They are now looking for the exact location of the former bridge there. Sora: (pointing in one direction) I think it’s this way. Mimi: (pointing in another) No Sora, it’s that way. Sora: Mimi, for all we know you’ve forgotten where it is because you’ve been living in New York for the past year and a half! Mimi: Well, excuse me Sora, but I plainly remember the bridge in the direction that I’m pointing in. Chelsea: Guys, stop arguing! Which way is it? You’re more familiar with this area of Tokyo than Nikki or I are. Sora and Mimi: (still pointing in opposite directions) I say over there! As for the bravo team, they are now searching the computers for old newspaper headlines. Finally, Duplica comes across something. Duplica: (pointing to her screen) Guys, look at this! It says that 7 years ago, there was some type of terrorist attack at the apartment complex known as Highton View Terrace in the Odaiba district. But some sources say that the disturbance that night was not terrorist related, but instead due to the appearance of some sort of supernatural phenomenon which they cannot completely clarify on. Sakura: I have a hunch... a couple of months ago, I heard some scientists discover this weird place which monsters of all shapes and sizes roam... the Digiworld! Madison: Of course! So the attack on Highton View Terrace must have been caused by two Digimon who somehow escaped to the real world. The question is, what exactly happened to them? Back with the charlie team, something is about to go terribly wrong as the group approaches what’s left of the rubble of the destroyed bridge. Mimi: I’m amazed that after seven years, they still haven’t fully cleaned this mess up. Sora: Chelsea, I think you’d better hand the camera off to Mimi. Mimi: Why? Sora: Well, we have to dig through the rubble to find out where the exact base on this side of the road is. Mimi: Dig? Eewww... no thank you. Mimi takes the camera from Chelsea and starts videotaping the others as they start tossing aside rocks. Chelsea: Why are we doing this? Nikki: To elaborate on Sora’s earlier expression, the reason for finding the base is so that when we record ourselves, we do it exactly under where the bridge would be if it was still standing today. Sora: Exactly. Mimi steps back to get a wider shot of Sora, Nikki, and Chelsea. All of a sudden, she trips over herself, causing her to fall backwards. The others look back and motion to go over and catch Mimi, but it’s too late. Mimi lands on the ground, on her back. Upon impact, the hand that is holding the camcorder releases it. The trio heads over to see if Mimi’s okay. Sora and Chelsea help Mimi to her feet, while Nikki checks the camera. Chelsea: Mimi, are you okay? Mimi: (rubbing her back) Ow! That hurt! Sora: You’ll be fine, Mimi. (to Nikki) How’s the camera? Nikki: (gulps as she notices something) We’ve got a problem. Nikki points to the lens on the camera, which now has several cracks in it. The eyepiece is also damaged, as it is hinging partially off from the camera itself, as if it could easily be pulled off. Sora surprisingly stomps her foot in anger as she walks off. Mimi can only look at her friend as Chelsea helps Nikki check the camera for any more damage. But if it’s as bad as it looks, the charlie team could be in real trouble. * * * * * * * * * * The alpha team arrives at Highton View Terrace on foot, which took them almost twenty five minutes. Kari sees the charlie team sitting under where the bridge is supposed to be. They are all looking down in the dumps. Giselle, from afar, quickly notices that the alpha team’s camera is not in the same condition as it was when they started. Kari: What happened to you guys? Sora: Mimi dropped the camera. Mimi: I said it was an accident! How many more times do I have to apologize? Nikki: So much for winning the challenge... Chelsea: We’ll probably have to pay for the camera. Jun: (smirks) Too bad, Sora. Looks like your losing streak continues! None of Jun’s teammates respond to the comment as they get into position. Kari glances sadly at Sora and Mimi, who are obviously angry at each other, before turning her attention back to Rita, Jun, and Giselle, who are now standing next to each other under the bridge. They get their shots, then promptly leave. Sora: (CC) Mimi dropped the camera! Can you believe it? How clumsy can she be? Mimi: (CC) This wouldn’t have happened if Sora would’ve just let me lead the way. Finally, the charlie team gathers enough confidence to head for the subway and dejectedly head back towards the mansion. As far as they were concerned, the challenge for them was over. They pay no attention to the bravo team, who arrives at the station just as the charlie team leaves. Sakura and her team do not notice the broken camera, though. With now an hour and five minutes left, the delta team arrives at Tokyo Tower. They immediately head for the stairs. Meilin climbs the stairs with ease at first, leaving her teammates in the dust. Misty is keeping a moderate pace, while both Yolei and Casey struggle to keep up. On the subway train back to the Reedington district, the alpha team decides to bypass the third task and attempt the fourth one. Layla: (VO) The fourth task is simple, yet very involved. You’ve got to find a guy that’s approximately your age, dance with him, and then have him kiss you. The catch is that you can only choose one of three songs to dance to. Daft Punk’s “One More Time,” Los Del Rio’s “Macarena,” or Craig David’s “Fill Me In.” Fifty minutes left... Giselle: I guess it’s up to me, huh? Kari: Finding a guy’s the easy part. As well as having him kiss you. The big problem is finding someone who has one of these three songs. Giselle: (waving to a guy across the street) Hey! You! Wanna hang out? Rita: Does he look Giselle’s age? Jun: I think so. The boy, a thirteen year old with black hair, wearing a school uniform consisting of a dark blue shirt with a tie and black pants, comes over. Giselle explains the situation to the boy, and he instantly agrees. He follows the quartet as they look for someone who may have one of the aforementioned songs. Atop Tokyo Tower, the delta team videotapes themselves there. They then head for the elevator and ride it to the bottom. They then begin to discuss how to handle the fourth task. Yolei: Casey’s too young to attract anyone and I’m pretty sure no boy’s gonna give me a look. So it’s up to you two. Meilin: Misty, you take it. Misty: (hands the camera to Meilin) Okay, but you’d better get good shots of me! Meilin: (smirks) Don’t worry. I will. Misty: (stepping up to a boy) Excuse me, I need some help... But the boy ignores Misty and continues walking down the street. Misty: What a jerk! Meilin: Try someone else! Meanwhile, the bravo team arrives back in the Reedington district. They too decide to skip the third task and head right for the fourth. Sakura: Didn’t we already get past this ‘kissing people’ part? Duplica: (smiles) But you’re so good at it, girl! Madison: I elect Sakura to be the patsy... ahem, I mean, the girl on the street! Sakura: (sarcastically) Thanks a lot, Madison. Madison: You’re welcome! Sasami: This ought to be interesting! Back at the mansion, Miss McKenzie is now inspecting the damaged camera that the charlie team brought to her. There’s forty two minutes to go... Layla: You’re right... this camera is gone. I’ll ask the crew to get you another one, but you girls may have to pay for a replacement. Sora, Mimi, Chelsea, and Nikki groan. But they had a bit of hope... they could try to finish the challenge in about thirty minutes, even though it would probably be next to impossible. Downtown, the alpha team had found someone who had a Daft Punk CD on them. They dragged him and the boy they got earlier to a nearby McDonalds, where they asked if they could have them play “One More Time” for them. The manager would, if they would buy some food from them. The team and their two ‘helpers’ agreed to the deal. “One More Time” plays over the PA system, as Giselle and the boy she had recruited began to dance. After the song, Giselle did not resist as the boy gave her a quick peck on the cheek. That surprised her heavily... she had expected him to grab and give her a long, wet one. But she was satisfied with what she had gotten. Jun wasn’t as happy... she ended up paying for all six meals. The girls said goodbye to their two companions and ran out of the restaurant, taking their meals to go. Giselle: (CC) You can’t touch this! The delta team, in the meantime, finds someone for Misty. They quickly run off to find a music store or someone who might have one of the three CDs. As for the bravo team, Sakura and Madison spot someone familiar. Sakura: Zachary! Madison: (waving to him) Zachary! Over here! Zachary, dressed in his school uniform, runs over to the group. Sakura: What are you doing out here? Isn’t school still in session? Zachary: This is our summer break, remember? We’re not back in school until Monday. Madison: Zachary, we need a favor. Zachary: Sure. What is it? Madison quickly explains the situation to Zachary. He promptly agrees to help. Zachary: I guess we have to find someone with one of those CDs, huh? Sasami: Yep. Zachary: (as the group starts looking for a music place) So, how’s Chelsea? Sakura: (sweatdrops) Oh, she’s fine. Madison: (VO) We’re a little nervous about telling Zachary what Chelsea’s been up to lately... especially after what happened last night. Thirty three minutes to go... the alpha team begins the fifth task... Layla: (VO) The fifth and final task sounds simple, yet is very difficult. The fifth task is to find someone dressed up as a Nurse Joy. Giselle: Where are we going to find someone who looks like a Nurse Joy? Kari: Beats me. Jun: (chowing down on some fries) There’s got to be some catch to this. Kari: You want to switch to the one we skipped over? Rita: Climb to the top of Tokyo Tower? No one will do that one. Giselle: But at least with that, it’s a sure thing. We may search up and down the city and still not find someone dressed like Nurse Joy. Kari: I agree. Let’s complete the Tokyo Tower task. We might have just enough time to get there and beat that one. That’ll make the necessary four we need. The alpha team runs back towards Tokyo Tower. Meanwhile, luck is on bravo team’s side, as they find someone with one of the CDs and a car stereo. Sasami: Thank you, sir! Man: No problem. My daughter happens to be a fan of Craig David. She accidentally left the CD in the glove compartment. That’s where you’ll find it. Sakura: Ready, Zachary? Zachary: Let’s do it. Madison: (aiming the camera at the couple) We’re rolling! Here’s task number four! The man inserts his key into the the side of the steering wheel and turns the power on, but not the car. He puts down the windows, inserts the CD into his radio, and turns it up as “Fill Me In” begins playing. Sakura and Zachary begin dancing up a storm as a crowd seems to be gathering around them. Zachary: You dance divinely, Sakura. Sakura: (blushes) Oh... thanks. Back at the mansion, the charlie team gets a new camera and are on their way back out. Sora: Chelsea, I think you’d better hold the camera. Mimi: Sora, don’t start with me! Sora: I don’t think it’s safe for you to hold it if you’re going to trip over your own two feet. Chelsea: (sighs) Can we at least try to enjoy ourselves? We’re already out of the running. Might as well try to get one more task done. Sora: Okay... I think we should have Mimi be the guinea pig for the fourth task. Mimi: It’s always about me, isn’t it? I’ve never seen you try to pick up a guy, Sora. Why don’t you do it? Sora: Fine! I will! I’ll show you! Back to the bravo team, as Sakura and Zachary finish their dance. The small crowd around them claps. Zachary takes a bow, while Sakura curtsies. They then stare at each other for what probably is the hardest part for them. Madison: (still looking through the camera) I know it’s hard guys, but you have to do it! Zachary and Sakura both close their eyes and lean their faces into each other. Zachary: (VO) Chelsea, forgive me for this. Sakura: (VO) I hope Li doesn’t mind. The two share a magical kiss. Their lips stay locked for about five seconds before they finally release. During that time, a bunch of oohs and aahs come from not only the crowd, but also from Sasami and Duplica. Madison makes sure to get their reactions. As they pull out of the kiss, Sakura and Zachary both blush a deep red. Sakura: Th... th... thanks. Zachary: Anytime. Sakura: I think... Zachary: Yeah. Bye. Sakura: Bye. Sakura runs off. Madison, shocked by this, tries to apologize to Zachary. Madison: I’m sorry about this, Zachary. Zachary: No problem. I know you’re in a rush. You guys better go track her down. Sasami: Bye Zachary! Duplica: Thanks for the assist! The trio runs after Sakura, discussing amongst themselves how to do the fifth task. Layla: (VO) With only twenty five minutes left, none of the teams have completed four tasks. Both the alpha team and the bravo team are three for four so far. The delta team has completed two tasks, but the charlie team has done only one. But remember, none of them are official until their videotapes are screened. As the alpha team continues their trek to Tokyo Tower, the bravo team has now gotten back together as they contemplate what to do next. They are sitting on a bench near King Penguin Park. Madison: Well, if we decide not to attempt to find a Nurse Joy lookalike, we have to go to Tokyo Tower. And I don’t know if we have enough time for that. Sasami: Then we have to find a Nurse Joy then. Duplica: Our best bet would be to find a newspaper and see if there’s anything going on in the city. Sakura: I’ll get one! Anyone got forty cents? Madison hands her some change. Sakura then goes to the nearest newspaper dispenser and gets a copy of today’s paper. Returning to the group, Sakura splits the paper up so that they can all search. A few minutes pass before Sasami spots an ad for an anime convention. Sasami: Hey! There’s an anime convention in town! At the Ramada on 70th and 15th! Madison: It’s worth a shot! Come on! We’ve got to hurry! The four jump out of their seats and run to the location in question. On the way, they pass the delta team, who is still in search of someone to designate as Misty’s partner. Meilin: This royally sucks! Can’t you pout your eyes or something? Misty: That’s not my style, Meilin. Meilin: Well, how do you expect to attract any boys? Yolei: We’re not getting anywhere here. Meilin, you try. Meilin: Okay... it’s too bad I have to show Misty how it’s done. Misty: Oh, put a sock in it! Time is running short. Now down to only ten minutes, the alpha team arrives at the base of Tokyo Tower. Pressed for time, they quickly run for the stairs and charge up them. The bravo team arrives at the hotel where the anime convention is being held. They begin their search for a Nurse Joy cosplayer, but no luck so far. The delta team continues their struggle to find someone. Meilin is having as much trouble as Misty getting a boy. They look like they’re very frustrated. Meanwhile, Sora tries her luck at getting an attractive boy to notice her. After a few minutes, she finally succeeds. But with time running out, will they have enough time to finish the challenge? Nikki: No way! You’re kidding me! He’s doing it! It seems so, as they quickly find someone with the Daft Punk CD. They have enough time to play the song, have Sora and the boy dance to it, and then have the two kiss, as well as catching it all on camera. Chelsea remembers that at least two members have to be in the shot, so she pushes Nikki on screen so that they get credit for the task. Time runs out just as the alpha team reaches the top of Tokyo Tower. They film themselves up there, unaware that time’s already up. Night Thirty One Miss McKenzie comes up to the mansion that night, just after eight o’clock. All of the girls gather in the first floor recreation room as Miss McKenzie announces the results. Layla: I have to say, it was a very wild prize challenge. But only one team succeeded in completing the challenge. That is the bravo team. Congratulations to Sasami, Duplica, Sakura, and Madison... you’ve earned a spot in the drawing for the video camera. Sakura and Madison quietly shake hands in glee. Sasami pumps her fist in the air. Duplica has a smile on her face. We can’t say the same for everyone else, including Sora and Mimi. Miss McKenzie hands the bravo team the index cards to fill out their information. Another prize challenge down the tubes. Only one more to go... End Episode Fifteen Layla: (VO) On the next episode of Roomies... Kari: (CC) After four and a half weeks, it’s weird to see two roommates and best friends go at each other’s throats like Sora and Mimi have. Layla: (VO) Even though there have been some big confrontations in the house before... Kari: First it was Misty and Sora... Madison: Then it was Meilin, Giselle, and Jun... Sakura: Followed by Madison and practically everyone else in the house... Duplica: Next came Misty and Giselle, just a few days ago... Sasami: But now, there’s this. Layla: (VO) Could this one between Sora and Mimi be the biggest of all? Yolei: Unbelievable! They’ve actually divided the room in half! Jun: Sora is such a sore loser. She loses three challenges in a row and she’s taking it out on her roommate. Layla: (VO) By coincidence, Sora and Mimi are opposing captains in the next challenge... Sora: Prepare to go down, Mimi! Mimi: As if! Layla: (VO) As the girls return to the Digiworld... Casey: (looking up the mountain) You mean we have to climb all the way up there? Layla: (VO) Which team will find their way around File Island and up Infinity Mountain first? Piximon: Look at them go! They’re running like they’ve got bees up their skirts! Layla: (VO) The adventure continues, next time on Roomies! * * * * * * * * * * Hi there! Freedom Fighter here again!
