* Special Notice * Due to a fluke, I had to go back and redo Episode 14. It seems that Mimi got assigned as a team captain to each of the last two physical challenges. Over the course of Roomies, each person will be a team captain for one of the challenges. To correct it, Rita has replaced Mimi as captain of the fifth challenge. The appropriate changes were made, but the final results of the challenge were not affected in anyway! Sorry about that! The revised installment is now up! * Special Notice * The call goes out again! Submit your questions now for the cast members! You might get your questions read personally during the reunion show! All questions must be e-mailed directly to me at jgg121@yahoo.com. Deadline is October 20th! This week... who will crack? Misty? Giselle? Sora? Mimi? Stay tuned for the answer! Disclaimer: I do not own any of the cast members in this series. * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) On the last episode of Roomies... Yolei: Unbelievable! They’ve actually divided the room in half! Layla: (VO) A little tension develops between roommates and best friends... Sora: Fine! Mimi: Fine! Yolei: (slapping herself on the forehead) Oy vey! Layla: (VO) Okay, so it was a lot of tension... Mimi: Oh, I’ll be nice to everyone. Except for Sora, the whore I have for a roommate! Sora: Excuse me? I don’t think a slut should be calling me a whore! Layla: (VO) Kari and Yolei formed a roundtable discussion to try and find a solution... Duplica: The easiest way would be to figure out what caused the conflict in the first place. Madison: Maybe we can invite them to go out on a private night with us... but we don’t tell them that the other is going. Yolei: (screams) Aaaaaahhhhhhh! I wish we could solve problems the same way you and I did, Kari. Kari: That would be nice, only I don’t think they’d appreciate slapping each other in the face. Layla: (VO) But to no avail. It didn’t help matters that Sora and Mimi were opposing captains... Everyone in the room then turns to Sora and Mimi, who are sitting next to each other in the center of the room, yet they aren’t facing each other. Layla: (VO) In a race to reach the top of Infinity Mountain first... After a few minutes, Sora and her team close the gap. But it’s too little, too late, as Mimi and Chelsea gasp for air as they join Yolei and Jun at the top. Miss McKenzie is there to declare them the winners. Layla: Congratulations, Mimi. You and your team win the sixth physical challenge. The pink team gathers around their captain as they cheer her on. Mimi, stunned by the fact that her team actually won, is speechless as the cheers continue. Layla: (VO) But did this challenge renew their friendship? Afterwards, the two teams go over to shake hands. But when Sora and Mimi meet in the middle, they skip over each other. Layla: (VO) Not quite... * * * * * * * * * * Duplica: Sixteen young girls... Madison: From four different anime shows... Sasami: Spend forty two days living alone in a mansion... Rita: With one lucky soul walking away with up to one million dollars in cash. (Begin theme song) Chelsea: The key to the game is getting along with everyone... Misty: Those who don’t are doomed to fail... Mimi: One act can get you in someone’s good graces... Jun: While another could turn everyone against you. (A picture of each of the contestants is shown, in alphabetical order, changing every second. In order, Casey, Chelsea, Duplica, Giselle, Jun, Kari, Madison, Meilin, Mimi, Misty, Nikki, Rita, Sakura, Sasami, Sora, and Yolei.) Giselle: It takes more than beauty to win this contest... Yolei: You’ve got to have brains, brawn, and a heart... Meilin: If you’ve got what it takes, step up to the plate... Casey: Show ‘em you’re number one! (Show several shots from past episodes, featuring several of the girls achieving victory) Kari: Some of these girls will form long lasting friendships... Nikki: Others will develop intense rivalries... Sora: But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. All 16 Girls: (together) We are... Roomies! (Four group shots, each featuring four of the girls, flashes on the screen for about two seconds each) - Group 1 - Misty, Sakura, Mimi, and Chelsea - Group 2 - Jun, Sasami, Meilin, and Giselle - Group 3 - Madison, Casey, Rita, and Yolei - Group 4 - Sora, Duplica, Kari, and Nikki (End theme song, with a picture of all sixteen contestants in front of the mansion) Sakura: The girls’ edition finals! * * * * * * * * * * Roomies Story Written by Freedom Fighter * * * * * * * * * * Episode Seventeen - Breaking Point Day Thirty Five Very early on this Sunday morning, Jun decides to play a little prank on Sora and Mimi. Especially Sora. She tiptoes in the hall so that she doesn’t disturb anyone. She finally makes her way to their room. Jun leans against the door to make sure that neither of them is awake. She then turns the knob and slowly pushes the door open. Once inside, Jun checks the room for something to take. She then spots a part of Sora’s tennis racket sticking out from under her bed. As she reaches down to grab it, she also spots one of Mimi’s treasures... her diary. And strangely enough, the key to unlock it was right next to it. Jun grabs the racket with one hand and takes the key to the diary in the other. She then tiptoes out of the room. Once out, Jun runs off to find a place to hide the evidence. Meanwhile, the only other person up right now is Madison. She is downstairs, prepping her video camera for a taping of the mansion. To her recollection, she had not done that yet. And now would be the best time to do so, since everyone would be asleep at least another half hour. Madison: Ready at last! Now, I can finally get all of those great shots I’ve been waiting for. Madison turns on her video camera and starts giving a video tour of the mansion. The first stop is the dining room. Madison: This is the dining room. Not the most stylish room in the mansion, but it does serve its main function pretty well. I remember the countless times that Sasami’s had to clean this table time and time again. As Madison continues her little tour, Jun is coming back from somewhere else in the mansion. She no longer has in her possession Sora’s tennis racket or Mimi’s diary. Jun: (dusting her hands off) There. Now, what other mischief can I pursue? (begins to think) Isn’t Giselle out on her morning run? (smirks) I bet my roommate wouldn’t mind if I borrowed something from her. Jun sneaks back off to her room, to ‘borrow’ something from Giselle. About half an hour later, Madison is outside, video taping Giselle as she runs up the driveway. Giselle glances at her watch as she stops just after running past Madison. Giselle: (gasping for air) 22 minutes and 39 seconds. A new personal best. Madison: (waves hello as she continues to tape) Morning, Giselle! Giselle: (looking at Giselle) What’s up with the camera? Madison: (pulling the camera away from her face) Well, since we only have a week left, I decided to make a video documentary about our stay. I’m starting by introducing everyone. And guess what? I’ve decided that you should be first! Giselle: Me? First? Why? Couldn’t you have picked your friend, Sakura? Madison: I thought the almighty Giselle wouldn’t mind being the first person to appear on the video. Giselle’s eyes light up as she grabs Madison by the shoulders and motions for her to start filming. Giselle: Why didn’t you say so? I’m always willing to help a friend in need. Madison: (pointing the camera at Giselle) In that case, let’s begin! Back inside, the sound of two high-pitched screams rings throughout the entire mansion. The sources, as expected, are Sora and Mimi, who have now discovered their missing items. Also as expected, they are blaming each other for it. Sora: Mimi, I demand you give me back my tennis racket! Mimi: Why don’t you give me back my diary? Sora: I never stole your diary! Mimi: And I never stole your tennis racket! Sora: Liar! Mimi: Takes one to know one, Sora! Most of the other girls had now gathered outside Sora and Mimi’s room to see what the fuss is all about. Eventually, Kari and Yolei make their way through the crowd and finally get a glimpse of the arguing duo... who are now whacking each other with their pillows. Kari: (sweatdrops) This is too much... Yolei: (sighs) You restrain Sora while I hold back Mimi. Kari and Yolei go in to settle the argument between their two elder friends while Jun, off by herself at the bottom of the staircase, is snickering away. Jun: That ought to hold them for awhile. In the meantime, I think I’ll make myself my own breakfast. Meanwhile, in all the commotion, Madison and Giselle make their way inside and up the stairs. Quickly getting a grasp on the situation, the two instantly head off to find the missing items, without thinking about agreeing on the issue. It took exactly nine minutes before the exact location of the tennis racket and the diary could be find. Giselle finds them both hidden deep in one of the storage closets towards the back of the mansion. Taking the racket in her left hand and the diary in her right, she locates the back staircase and makes her way up to Sora and Mimi’s room. Once there, she notices that the crowd has dispersed and had either gone back to sleep, were in the process of taking care of their morning duties, or were already downstairs eating breakfast. Only Sora, Mimi, Kari, Yolei, and Misty were in the room. Sora and Mimi had calmed down, but they still believed the other stole their stuff. Giselle: (runs into the room holding the items) Hey! Look at what I have! The girls gasp in disbelief. They were all thinking the exact same thing... Misty: (standing up) You just keep sinking to new levels everyday, don’t you? Giselle: What are you talking about? Misty: Caught with the goods, I see. Giselle: I just found them! I didn’t steal them! Misty: That’s what they all say. Sora: (getting up and walking over to Giselle) That’s my tennis racket, no doubt. She pulls the racket right out of Giselle’s left hand. Mimi follows her roommate’s lead and snatches her diary out of Giselle’s right hand. Sora: (examining her racket) It doesn’t look like there’s any damage. Mimi: (examining her diary) My diary’s fine too... only my key is missing. Misty: (glaring at Giselle) Where’s the key, Giselle? Giselle: What key? I didn’t see any key when I found it! Mimi: (beginning to cry) How am I supposed to write in my diary if I can’t even open it? Sora: Oh shut up, you big crybaby. Mimi: (stops crying and glares at Sora) I’m tired of your sassy mouth, Sora! Sora and Mimi start arguing again, as Kari and Yolei try to calm them down once more. Misty looks at Giselle with a disgusted look on her face. Misty: I’ll make sure Miss McKenzie hears about this! And then out you go! Giselle: (pleading) I’m telling the truth! I didn’t steal anything! Misty: (stomping towards Giselle, forcing her to step back) Get out of my face... Giselle: But... As soon as Giselle is outside of the room, Misty slams the door in her face. Giselle just stands there, dumbfounded. Giselle: But I was just... Of course, the noise had practically attracted everyone back out into the hall or up the stairs. They all look and see Giselle standing outside the closed door to Sora and Mimi’s room. They assume the obvious, as they all glare at Giselle for what had to be her most desperate attempt to earn their respect. If that happened to be her plan, it sure wasn’t working. The only person who probably thought otherwise was Madison. She watched as Giselle looked at her. Madison didn’t think Giselle did... she had been running all morning. Then, something else Madison didn’t think would ever happen did. Giselle ran past everyone in tears as she ran down the stairs and out the front door. Madison: (CC) I don’t know if everyone’s still asleep or too attached to Giselle’s normal habits to realize that she can’t be responsible because she’s been running all morning! I mean, just look at her! She hasn’t even changed out of her sweats yet and they haven’t noticed! Night Thirty Five Madison was in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches on some cupcakes she was making. Since she was so busy doing so, she had Sakura film her. As the timer went off, Madison slipped on a pair of matching oven mitts as she opened the oven and pulled out a tray of delicious and delightful smelling yellow cupcakes. Madison: Anyone up for cupcakes? Jun: Cupcakes? (in a low voice) Really? Sakura: Wow Madison! They smell really good! Rita and Chelsea, also in the room, agree with their friends. Carefully removing the cupcakes from their tray, Madison transfers them to a large plate, where the five of them begin to devour the first of two dozens she had made. Sakura: (with her mouth stuffed) This is really good! Madison: (taking the camera from her friend and beginning to tape her) I’m glad you like them! As the quintet continues stuffing cupcakes down their throat, they can’t help but wonder what the true story behind this morning’s events was. Sakura: (CC) I’m not one to blame someone before they’re proven guilty, but all the evidence points right at Giselle. Speaking of which, she hasn’t come back since she ran out this morning. Maybe we should be worried... Over in the first floor recreation room, Misty, Sora, and Mimi weren’t exactly sharing sentiments with the others. Misty: Giselle needs to chill out for once. Sora: What could have possessed her to do this? Mimi: If you ask me, I think it was a Clow Card! Sora: (seriously) This is no time for jokes, Mimi. Mimi: Who’s joking? I seriously thought she had been possessed by a Clow Card! Misty: And you know this how? Mimi: (smiling goofily) I don’t know, I just do! Misty and Sora facefault to the ground. Sora: Mimi, why don’t you ever make sense? Mimi: Don’t talk to me about sense! You’ve got less fashion sense than the geeks at my school! Sora: Take that back! Mimi: Never! Sora and Mimi get into a staring contest, as Misty sighs unhappily. Misty: (CC) Enough is enough. Seriously. Elsewhere in Reedington, at a small local fast food restaurant downtown, Giselle is on the verge of a breakdown. She’s been in a pay phone booth for several hours now, talking to the only person she could turn to... her boyfriend and former classmate, Joe. Giselle: (sniffles) I don’t know what to do... Joe: Everything’ll be fine, Giselle... Giselle: No, it won’t! They’ll start pointing fingers at me the moment I walk back into the mansion. Giselle and Joe continued their private phone conversation uninterrupted, as she pondered her next course of action... if there would be one. As it starts to get later into the night, Miss McKenzie can be seen with some crew members searching downtown for something... obviously, Giselle. Back at the mansion... Madison: (CC) I just had to do it. I had to call Miss McKenzie and tell her that Giselle had disappeared. She’s off searching for her now. I hope she’s okay. Up in her bedroom, Jun laid peacefully on her bed as she returned some type of document or something onto Giselle’s desk. No one had any idea that the prank had been Jun’s idea altogether. Jun wasn’t feeling sorry for Giselle at all. Jun: I’m glad Giselle took the fall for me. She’s not going to win anyway, so why not? Anything to increase my chances of taking home the grand prize. As Jun began to fall asleep, a smile cracked across her face. If she was feeling the least bit guilty about what she had done, she wasn’t showing it. Day Thirty Six At seven thirty the next morning, Nikki runs from the kitchen to the front door to answer it after someone had been ringing the doorbell. Nikki had been helping Chelsea prepare breakfast, but she decided that someone should answer the door. Chelsea: (CC) Miss McKenzie called just after two this morning telling us that they had found Giselle and are taking care of her. She said she would bring her back sometime this morning so that they could find out what really happened. In other words, Miss McKenzie is hinting that Giselle didn’t do it. Nikki opens the door and finds Miss McKenzie and a very shaken up and distraught Giselle standing there. Layla: Sorry to bother you so early, but I decided to bring Giselle back. Nikki: (gasps) Is she going to be okay? Layla: Yes. She’s just tired, that’s all. She didn’t look too good when we found her last night, but at least she was uninjured, which is a good sign. I suggest she gets plenty of rest, so find her a place where she won’t be disturbed. Nikki: Is that necessary? After all, Giselle did steal the racket and the diary. Shouldn’t she be reprimanded for this? Layla: Giselle claims she didn’t do it. So, I’m leaving it all up to you guys to decide. I would suggest calling a house meeting tonight to discuss it. If you want to have me attend as well, that would be fine. Okay? Nikki: Okay. I’ll pass the message along. Miss McKenzie leaves Giselle in Nikki’s hands. Nikki closes the front door and then leads Giselle to the couch in the living room, where she sets her down on. Nikki: I’ll make sure the room is off limits until you’re feeling better, Giselle. Nikki started to walk away as Giselle struggled to get comfortable on the couch. Nikki: I’ll go get you a pillow and a blanket. I’ll be right back. As Nikki walked out, her mind was on making sure Giselle was alright. She still believed that Giselle had stolen Sora and Mimi’s things and that her actions were uncalled for. But not even someone like Giselle deserved what she went through. * * * * * * * * * * It was about two thirty in the afternoon when the front door rang again. Misty goes to open it, unaware that Giselle is still asleep on the living room couch. Misty is handed an envelope by the mailman. After signing for it, she brings it to the first floor recreation room to hear the briefing for the challenge. As luck would have it, Sora and Mimi still aren’t talking or looking at each other as they sit next to each other, while Giselle is nowhere to be found. Layla: (as the tape starts) Today, you will be competing in your final prize challenge. Up for grabs is this. Miss McKenzie holds up a 3 by 5 inch pink card marked with the words ‘wild card.’ Layla: This may look like an ordinary index card. But in reality, this is a prize challenge ‘wild card.’ Anyone who succeeds in completing today’s challenge will get this card, which entitles them to enter their name in for any prize they may have missed out on earlier. Of course, you cannot use it for a prize that you have qualified for. Nikki: (CC) I haven’t won any prize challenges yet, so this would be the perfect opportunity to win something out of this entire trip. Misty: (CC) If I win this challenge, that makes me eligible for the video camera I missed out on last time, and then I’d be in the running for all five prizes! Layla: Speaking of cards, today’s challenge will be an interactive one involving a certain set of cards. And I’m sure a few of you know what I mean... With that, the tape comes to an end. Misty opens the envelope and reads the piece of paper inside. Misty: (reading out loud) Today, you will be split into four teams. Through the use of a specially designed virtual world, each team will be responsible for tracking down three rogue Clow Cards. Clues will be provided to help along the way, but only those of you who know the cards themselves will succeed. Meet out on the east side of the complex in fifteen minutes. Teams will be assigned randomly once you get there. Sasami: (CC) It’s time to separate the Daphnes from the Velmas. That’s what it’s going to take to win this challenge. Nikki: (sighs) I guess I’d better go wake Giselle. Misty: Giselle? Yolei: When did she get back? Nikki: This morning. Miss McKenzie had found her somewhere. She’s been sleeping on the couch in the living room ever since. Nikki walks off to go get Giselle while the others begin to head outside. About fifteen minutes later, Nikki drags Giselle outside. Giselle is looking as refreshed as ever, but she’s still a bit weary about the events of the day before. Layla: It’s nice to see everyone here. Now, it’s time to pick teams. [The team assignments (picked in random order): Team 1 - Yolei, Sakura, Mimi, and Giselle Team 2 - Duplica, Casey, Rita, and Madison Team 3 - Chelsea, Kari, Jun, and Meilin Team 4 - Sasami, Sora, Misty, and Nikki] Layla: Now, as stated in the mission briefing statement, you will be helping us track down a few rogue Clow Cards. (points to four small trailers behind her) Each team will set up inside one of the trailers. Inside, you will find a laptop and three index cards, each containing the first clue to each rogue Clow Card. You must log onto the computer to begin your search for the cards, but you first must obtain the password. Inside each trailer, there will be a bulletin board filled with different passwords. Miss McKenzie continues to talk as one of the cameras shows the inside of the trailer and then the bulletin board, which looks like it has close to a hundred different password cards on it. Layla: Finding the right one accesses the computer. There are four segments: finding the access password and then capturing each of the three cards. You must go through each part in order and you’re only allowed ten minutes per segment. Going over this limit results in automatic failure of the challenge for the team. Okay? The teams nod in agreement. The girls then split up into their teams. Mimi: So Giselle, why did you steal my diary anyway? Giselle: For the last time, I didn’t steal your diary! Yolei: Oh, come on. There’s guilt plastered all over your face. Giselle: I didn’t do it! Mimi: That’s a typical response from someone who turns her back frequently. Giselle: How can you say that at a time like this? Yolei: Just admit that you stole Mimi’s diary and we’ll leave it at that. Otherwise, we’re going to go through with Misty’s offer to inform Miss McKenzie about this. Giselle: (ignoring Yolei’s threat and turning to Sakura) What do you think about all of this? Sakura: Me? Well... Giselle: You’re against me too, right? Fine. If you three think I did, then that’s fine by me. But can we at least put this aside until this challenge is over? Mimi: (grumbles) Fine. But I’m never going to forgive you until you find the key to my diary! Giselle: Your key wasn’t with the diary when I found it! Okay? Mimi: Liar! Giselle: Oh, you’re real original. Calling me the same thing you called your best friend. Mimi: Shut up! Yolei: (holding Mimi back) Mimi, what’s gotten into you? Sakura: (holding Giselle back) Giselle! Come on! This is no time to fight! Fortunately, only Miss McKenzie had noticed the quarrel, as the other three teams were already heading for the trailers. Layla: (pointing to Mimi and Giselle) I need to see you two after the challenge is over. Okay? The two relax their muscles, turn towards Miss McKenzie, and reluctantly nod in agreement. After a few minutes to calm Mimi and Giselle down, Team 1 joins the other teams outside of their respective trailers. Misty: I’m watching you, Giselle. Giselle had heard Misty’s comment, but decided to let it go for the time being. With all of her teammates against her, she would have to figure out a way to bear through it. Layla: Okay, at this point, you have ten minutes to find the password to log on. The timer begins now. The four teams head into their own trailers. One camera follows Team 2 into theirs as they spot the bulletin board full of passwords. Casey: (gasps) Why are there so many passwords? Madison: You mean we have to try them all? Duplica: (sighs) Where do we start? Layla: (VO) The first set of ten minutes begins, as the teams scramble to find the correct password. [Inset: Team 4] Nikki is at the computer, ready to type in a password into the computer. Sasami, Sora, and Misty are all looking at the passwords on the bulletin board, but are unsure of how to go about selecting one. Sora: I don’t think just picking passwords at random is going to do us any good. Misty: Sora, think about it! We have know way of distinguishing the right password from all of the incorrect ones. We’ll just have to do trial and error. Sasami: But I don’t think we have time to go through all one hundred of them. Nikki: I agree with Misty, though. We’ll just have to take that chance. Misty: (grabbing a card from the board) That’s what I thought. (reads the password aloud) Chair. Nikki types the word ‘chair’ into the computer. It rejects the password. Sasami decides to join Misty in picking the passwords at random. [Inset: Team 3] Chelsea, Jun, and Meilin are pulling password after password off of the bulletin board as Kari types one after another into the computer, but to no avail. [Inset: Team 2] Layla: (VO) Believe it or not, somewhere in each trailer there is a clue which will help them identify their password much easier. Duplica: (as she reaches for another password) Casey, your shoe is untied. Casey: Oh? I guess I better tie it. Casey kneels down to tie her shoe when she notices something taped to the bottom of the table that the laptop is set up on. Casey: Hey... there’s something taped to the underside of the table! Madison: Huh? Duplica, Rita, and Madison get down on their knees and look under the table. Sure enough, there is a piece of paper stuck to the bottom of it. Rita crawls under and pulls it out. Rita: (reading it aloud) The password has something to deal with ‘wool.’ Madison: I think I saw ‘sheep’ up there. Casey: I think ‘cotton’ was up there too. Duplica: Let’s get them, then. They find the two words and pull them off the bulletin board. They then hand them to Rita, who tries them in the computer. She tries ‘sheep’ first, which doesn’t work. But then, she tries ‘cotton,’ and it works! Rita: (smiles) Bingo! We’re in! [Inset: Team 3 -- 30 seconds left in segment 1] Layla: (VO) At this point, all of the teams have gotten into the computers and are already chasing after the Clow Cards in cyberspace... except for this team. Kari: (typing another password in) No, that’s not it either. Meilin: What are we going to do? Jun: Don’t panic. We will find it. Chelsea: But we can’t really have much time left, if any. Kari: Just give me a password, guys! This isn’t up for argument! Chelsea, Jun, and Meilin go back to work, pulling off more passwords from the board. But they only get through about three more before someone can be heard opening the door to the trailer. Miss McKenzie opens the door as Kari attempts one more password. Layla: I’m sorry girls, but your time... Kari: (yells happily) I got it! We’re in! The group high fives each other. Miss McKenzie smiles as she walks out of the trailer without objection. Meilin: (CC) I can’t believe how close we cut it! We’d better be on our toes if we’re going to finish this challenge. [Inset: Team 1] Yolei, Sakura, Mimi, and Giselle are already well into the mission. They’ve already captured one card and are at work capturing the second. Sakura: (reading the clue aloud) It is not one of the four element cards. Yolei: Element cards? You mean like earth, wind, water, and fire? Mimi glanced at Giselle, expecting her to make a sarcastic remark at Yolei’s obvious answer. But Giselle wasn’t budging one bit. Mimi: (sighs) Let’s just get on with it. What’s next? Yolei: (pointing at the screen) There’s another question to answer! [Q: The mirror card is known as a helix type. What does helix means? 1 - It means that the card must be defeated in battle before it can be captured. 2 - It is a card that flies around in circles above the head of its potential captor. 3 - It must be identified before its true form is revealed.] Sakura: It’s third one. Definitely the third one. Yolei presses 3 on the keyboard. The computer deems the answer as correct. Layla: (VO) Each rogue card has 3 clues that can be obtained to figure out the card’s identity. To get each clue, though, they have to answer a question to get it. If they answer it correctly, they get the clue. If they answer it incorrectly, they are assessed a time penalty, which varies based on the answer and the question’s difficulty. [Inset: Team 4] [Q: Which of these four Clow Cards is the gentlest? 1 - Windy 2 - Watery 3 - Firey 4 - Earth] Sasami, Sora, Misty, and Nikki are one clue away from capturing their first Clow Card. But they’re having trouble deciding on the correct answer to this question. Nikki: Okay, so Sasami and Misty think Watery’s the right answer, but Sora and I think Windy’s the gentlest. Misty: I say go with Watery. Sora: Go with Windy! Sasami: Nikki, just go with Watery! Water’s gentler than wind! Nikki: (presses 2) Here goes. The screen reads ‘Incorrect answer. You will be assessed a penalty of one minute.’ A timer appears on the screen and starts counting down from one minute. Sora: See? I knew it was Windy! As they wait for the penalty to expire, Miss McKenzie comes in. Layla: Time is up, girls. You have been eliminated from the game. The team walks out of the room dejectedly. Sora and Nikki are shooting Sasami and Misty... especially Misty, dirty looks. Sora: (CC) I’m surrounded by idiots! First, Mimi blows a challenge for me. Now, Misty does! What’s up with her stupid obsession with water, anyway? [Inset: Team 3] Chelsea, Kari, Jun, and Meilin are also struggling. There are on their second Clow Card, but they are struggling to get the first clue. [Q: Which card was the 10th to be captured and sealed back into the Clow Book? 1 - Thunder 2 - Power 3 - Shield 4 - Illusion] Meilin: How am I supposed to know this? I wasn’t around when that happened! Kari: We’ll just have to take a guess at it. Any suggestions? Chelsea: I don’t know... pick one! Kari: (sighs) Okay, then. Here goes nothing. Kari decides to pick thunder, choice number 1. She presses 1 and then enter. The words ‘Correct answer’ appear. Jun: Nice guess, Kari! The next clue appears on the screen. Kari: (reading aloud) This card is not one of the four element cards. Chelsea: Earth, fire, wind, and water, right? Meilin: (sarcastically) Thank you, Chelsea. As if we didn’t know that already. A screen appears with all of the Clow Cards on it. It prompts for the user to click on any cards that they believe are not correct. Kari moves the mouse and clicks on each of the four element cards. It then prompts them for a guess, but Kari refuses the chance for one. Kari: (CC) We seem to be faring well so far. I hope it stays that way. * * * * * * * * * * [Inset: Team 2 -- 2 minutes left in segment 3] Duplica, Casey, Rita, and Madison are one clue away from figuring out the identity of the second Clow Card. The next question appears on the screen. [Q: How many episodes into the dub was the series when Meilin made her first appearance? 1 - 47 2 - 20 3 - 6 4 - 1] As the four debated their answer, Casey accidentally pushes Rita forward, causing her finger to press 1. As Rita rights herself, her finger slips across the enter key. She presses it, thinking it was the backwards key. Casey: (gasps as she checks on Rita) Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! Rita: I’m fine. Really, I am. The computer tells them that their answer is incorrect. It assesses them a five minute penalty. Duplica: Five minutes? Isn’t that a bit too much? Madison: Oh no! Casey: Oh my god! I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to! Madison: I know you didn’t mean it, Casey. Duplica: What are we going to do? Suddenly, Miss McKenzie opens the door to their trailer. Layla: Well, according to the master terminal, you just got a five minute penalty. And since you’ve got less than two minutes left, I suppose it’s time to pull you out. You’ve been eliminated from the game. Madison: Miss McKenzie, Casey slipped and accidentally pushed Rita into the keyboard. We entered in an answer we didn’t want! Couldn’t we get the penalty revoked? Layla: I’m sorry, Madison, but rules are rules. The group hangs their heads low as they make their way out of the trailer. Duplica: (CC) Miss McKenzie’s being particularly harsh today. Casey: (CC) I know I’ve said I’m sorry, but my teammates probably think I’m a klutz now. [Inset: Team 1 -- 4 minutes, 45 seconds left in segment 4] Yolei: This is perfect! Just perfect! Giselle: You’re being sarcastic. Right? Yolei: No, I’m not! Mimi: Well, this would be a good time to be. We’re serving a two minute penalty for missing a question Sakura should’ve known! Sakura: Hey! Stop putting the blame on other people! [Inset: Team 3 -- 50 seconds left in segment 3] Kari types in 4 as Chelsea, Jun, and Meilin watch the screen carefully. It flashes ‘correct answer.’ They celebrate with glee. Kari: Yes! Now, all that’s left is to identify the Clow Card! Chelsea: (reading the clue on the screen) The card is one-half of a duo that can be interpreted as the equivalent of yin and yang. Meilin: That sounds vaguely familiar, but I can’t place my finger on it... Jun: So, which card is it? Meilin: I remember now! I think the Light and Dark cards match that description! Kari: Light and Dark, huh? I have a pretty good idea which one it is. Kari locates the Light card in the list and clicks on it. It comes back as being ‘incorrect,’ and assesses them a penalty of one minute. Kari: Incorrect? How can that be? Light always triumphs over dark! Chelsea: (shrugs her shoulders) So much for that theory. Meilin: (as Miss McKenzie comes in) And so much for that wild card I had my eyes on. Layla: Sorry to burst your bubble, girls, but time’s up for you. The girls head out of the trailer, leaving only one team still working on completing the challenge. [Inset: Team 1 -- 2 minutes left in segment 4] The team was trying to answer the last question, but Sakura was having trouble choosing the answer. [Q: What is the original name of the Clow Cards after they are transformed? 1 - Clow Cards 2 - Kero Cards 3 - Star Cards 4 - Sakura Cards] Sakura: I think it’s Star Cards, but I’m not sure. Something tells me they were named after me, since I captured most of them. But then again, they could be Kero Cards... after all, Kero is the guardian beast of the seal. Mimi: It’s about time you made up your mind! Yolei: Screw this! I’ll just pick one! Sakura: No! Wait! But it was too late. Yolei presses 3. The answer comes back as being incorrect. They are assessed a penalty of one minute. Giselle: (crossing her arms over her chest) So much for winning. Sakura: I told you to wait! Yolei: You were taking too long. The minute quickly passes by. They have about forty seconds left as another question pops up on the screen. [Q: What is Madison Taylor’s original Japanese name? 1 - Kinomoto Sakura 2 - Daidouji Tomoyo 3 - Daidouji Sonomi 4 - Li Syaoran] Sakura: (smiles) That’s easy! It’s number 2! Yolei: Finally, you know one for once. Giselle: Just shut up and push 2 already! Yolei complies with Giselle. Pushing 2, they find out that their answer is correct. Mimi: Alright! Let’s get that clue! Sakura: (reading it as it pops up) In terms of attack strength, this Clow Card is better than its pair, which looks awfully similar to it. The only difference other than attacks is their coloring. Mimi: So. Which one? Sakura: It’s either the Rain or the Cloud. But I think the Rain card has more attack power. Yolei: Rain it is, then! Yolei searches for the Rain card. She locates it and clicks on it. The answer comes back as being correct. Yolei: (reading what’s on the screen) You’ve captured the Rain card! You now also have three Clow Cards! You have completed the challenge! Sakura: (jumping up into the air) Alright! We did it! Giselle: (smiles) About time. Mimi: (nods in agreement) Yeah. The team gathers outside with their hands raised into the air. They get congratulatory handshakes from the other teams as they celebrate their victory. Yolei: (CC) Yes! I finally won a prize challenge! Now, I can get that computer I missed out on earlier! Day Thirty Seven After spending the night off to relax, the girls convene to discuss with matters at hand. First, they wanted to resolve things between Sora and Mimi. Then, they’d find out why Giselle stole their things... and if she didn’t, who did. Chelsea: (CC) Personally, I think of all of the Digidestined girls have gone crazy. Of course, things quickly degenerated into another shouting match. Sora: That’s the last straw! Mimi: Oh, just admit that you need me for your own success! Sora: I could’ve won this thing without you! Mimi: Really? How many challenges in a row have you lost now? Kari: Sora! Mimi! Stop it now! Misty: Yeah! We should be focusing on Giselle anyway! Giselle: How many times do I have to say that I’m innocent? Misty: Ha! You’d have to say it a million times. And then I still wouldn’t believe you. Giselle: What’s it going to take to beat it into you that I didn’t do it? Misty: (smiles) A beating sounds nice. Giselle: (gasps in surprise) You can’t be serious! Misty: Oh, I’m serious. Sasami: Hey! No fighting in the mansion! Misty: Why don’t we take it outside, Giselle? Giselle: I’m not fighting you. That’s childish. Misty: Oh... you’re just chicken! Giselle: I am not chicken! I just know better, that’s all! Sakura: Giselle’s right, Misty! Fighting won’t solve anything! Meilin: Yeah! I may not like Giselle, but why should you have to resort to fighting to resolve your differences? Madison: (giggles) I can’t believe you just said that, Meilin. That’s so unlike you. Misty: Why are you all on Giselle’s side? (looking at Sora and Mimi) And you two... when does the fighting ever stop? I knew you Digidestined were no good! Sora: Misty, don’t start that crap about us again! Mimi: Sora, stop arguing with Misty! You’re supposed to be arguing with me! Giselle: Why don’t you all just shut up? Misty, Sora, and Mimi: (simultaneously) Why don’t you? The foursome then break out into a massive argument. The other girls are now in complete disbelief. Misty’s arguing with Sora, Sora’s arguing with Mimi, Mimi’s arguing with Giselle, and Giselle’s arguing with Misty. It’s just a never ending cycle of verbal jabs and insults. Finally, someone decides to do something about it. Madison: I’m going to call Miss McKenzie. This has got to stop now! Sakura: I’m coming with you! Meilin: Oh, you’re not going without me! Sasami: Wait up! You’ll need me too! The four run off as Misty, Sora, Mimi, and Giselle continue arguing. End Episode Seventeen Layla: (VO) There’s only three episodes left! On the next episode... Misty, Sora, Mimi, and Giselle are brought into the trailer, one at a time, for a private conversation with Miss McKenzie. Layla: (VO) Misty, Sora, Mimi, and Giselle are asked to engage in a counseling session with me to figure out how to resolve their disputes... Mimi: I think it all started when I was two years old. I had met Sora for the first time and we became the best of friends almost instantly. Giselle: I’ll be graduating from Pokémon Technical in December. I’m ready to compete in the Pokémon League next summer! I’ll show everyone that Tech students are the best! Layla: (sweatdrops) Since when did this become a place for everyone to tell their life story? Misty: There’s not much to tell, I can tell you that. Layla: (VO) This all leads to a group session... Mimi: (imitating Sora) Stop putting us down! Giselle: (imitating Misty) You Digidestined are all alike! Layla: (VO) Does the session work? Rita: I think they’ve made quite the improvement. Layla: (VO) Meanwhile, Nikki and Casey take the helm in the next physical challenge... Casey: Another puzzle game? Nikki: That’s the kind of attitude that’s going to cost you the game! Mimi: What if we aren’t found? Does that mean we have to stay locked up forever? Meilin: I wouldn’t mind! Duplica: Be nice. Layla: (VO) The countdown continues next episode, here on Roomies!
