Only two episodes left! Here’s what’s happening tonight... The game we have planned for the eighth and final physical challenge may sound simpler than previous challenges, but for those of you who’ve played it before, you know it’s not always that easy. We’re going to solve some relationship problems as well... sort of. And to round things up, the Final Four will be selected! Who has influenced their peers well enough to get them to vote for them? Here we go! Episode 19 begins right now... Disclaimer: None of the girls here belong to or were created by me. * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) Last time, on Roomies... Once on the grounds, they go down to a trailer set out on a large piece of empty land. Misty, Sora, Mimi, and Giselle are brought into the trailer, one at a time, for a private conversation with Miss McKenzie. Layla: (VO) It seemed like Misty, Sora, Mimi, and Giselle need a private talk or two... Mimi: All I ask for is a little respect! Misty: I didn’t threaten her. I just challenged her to a fight, that’s all. Sora: If you ask me, she’s got a few screws loose. Giselle: She can at least prove she has some common sense. Layla: (VO) Which eventually got so out of control that I had to call in some help... Boy: I am Eli. And that is all you need to know about me. Mimi: (in Sora’s voice) What just happened there? Sora, Misty, and Giselle look weirdly at Mimi. Layla: (VO) Yep... Eli changed it so that the girls had switched voices with each other. Nikki: So, how are they? Layla: (smiles) I’m happy to report that they’ve worked out their differences and that they’ll be perfectly fine. Nikki: That’s good to know. Layla: (VO) Upon their return, though, the girls figure out that Jun was behind it all... Giselle: You stole everything? Nikki: I would have never believed it... oh wait, I probably would. Chelsea: It looks like our search is finally over. Layla: (VO) But it’s all temporarily forgotten in the latest prize challenge... Casey: (turning to Nikki and sticking her hand out towards her) Good luck, Nikki! Nikki: (turns to Chelsea, smiles, and sticks her hand out) Good luck to you too, Casey! Casey looks at the card and then at the numbered keypad on the door. She punches in the combination given on the card: 3949. The light on the door turns from red to green. She opens the door and finds Duplica waiting on the bed. Layla: (VO) In the end, though, Nikki’s team comes out on top... Mimi runs out, holding a card with the words ‘You win!’ on it. The whole team begins to jump up and down in celebration. * * * * * * * * * * Duplica: Sixteen young girls... Madison: From four different anime shows... She had just remembered that she promised Izzy that she would work on a small program of his and check it for correctness and efficiency. Yolei: (typing away at the keyboard) Man, why did I wait for the last minute to do this? Madison walks by the room, already dressed in her lavender colored nightgown. She decided to find out what her roommate was doing. Madison: Yolei, why are you still up? It’s already one thirty. Yolei: (still typing) I know, but I promised Izzy I’d do this for him. Madison: There’s a good chance we’ll have our last challenge tomorrow. You’d better get some rest. Yolei: I will... once this is done. Madison: (beginning to plead) Yolei, please come to bed! Yolei: (groans and turns towards Madison) Oh, okay. Just let me shut off the computer and then I’ll be in. Madison: (smiles) Thank you. Madison heads off to their room, as Yolei proceeds to shut down the computer. Yolei: Oh well. If Izzy yells my head off because I didn’t finish this, I can blame it all on Madison! The computer turns off. Yolei heads out of the room, turning the lights off on her way out. It seems that Madison and Yolei weren’t the only ones up, though. Out on the steps of the front porch, Sora is sitting there quietly, staring at the night sky. Sora: (sighs) Tomorrow. (beginning to sing) Tomorrow, tomorrow! I’ll love you tomorrow! Meilin: (yelling from inside) Takenouchi! Go to sleep! Sora: (shakes her head and laughs quietly to herself) If Giselle’s not yelling her head off, it’s always Meilin that picks up the slack. Sora heads inside the mansion and up to her room, where she finds Mimi already fast asleep in her bed. Sora: (CC) Mimi, you’ll be happy to know that they’ll know my decision tomorrow. Sora shooes the cameraman out the door as she looks for her nightgown. Day Forty Madison is following Duplica as she heads to the kitchen for breakfast. Since recovering her camera, Madison has been hard pressed to finish her documentary before the end of the weekend. Duplica was one of the few girls she had yet to tape. Madison: Come on, Duplica! This is the tape that we’ll all be watching after all of this over! Say something! Duplica: (groggily) Breakfast first... The duo finds a very excited Sakura putting the finishing touches on breakfast, while Misty and Nikki are already chowing down at the table. Madison: (turns her camera towards Sakura) And how’s the cook this morning? Sakura: (sweatdrops) Madison... haven’t you taped me enough already? Misty: Yeah! (pats Nikki on the back, causing her to choke on her food) Why don’t you tape Nikki? I don’t think she’s gotten any time yet. Nikki reaches for her glass of orange juice and drinks it whole. Misty just sits there, with a look of disbelief on her face. Duplica: (groggily) Nikki funny. Misty: (pointing at Duplica while looking at Sakura) Is your roommate always like this in the morning? Sakura: Only if she doesn’t get enough sleep. Madison: Speaking of no sleep... how many of you heard Sora singing? Misty: She was singing? Sakura: Really? Nikki: (regaining her composure) That’s weird. Duplica: (still groggy) Sora sang in moon. Sakura: (filling up a glass of water) Allow me. Sakura takes the glass over to Duplica and splashes the water right in Duplica’s face. That succeeds in bringing her to her senses. Duplica: (wiping the water away from her face and hair) Huh? I’m awake! Sakura: (heading back to the stove) She should speak normally now. Madison: Where is everyone else? Sakura: They’ve all already eaten... except for Casey and Chelsea, who are still asleep. Misty: They’re all back to whatever they do normally when we don’t have a challenge. All of a sudden, Mimi runs into the room. She seems to be in quite a hurry. Nikki: Mimi? What’s up? Mimi: (gasping for air) Have any of you seen Giselle? Madison: She should be out on her morning run. Why? Mimi: (running out of the room) Thanks! Sakura: Anybody know what that was all about? Nikki: Beats me. Misty: What did Giselle do now? Duplica: That’s what I’d like to know. A couple of minutes later, Mimi is seen standing outside on the front porch. Sora is out there too, pacing back and forth on the grass. Mimi: (shouting) Sora! Sora: (jumps in surprise) Mimi! You startled me there. Mimi: (putting her hands on her hips) I thought you told me you were calling them today! Sora: I am! I’m just... trying to gather up the courage to do so. Mimi: (grabs Sora by the arm and pushes her inside the mansion) If you don’t go call them now, I’ll tie you to a chair and have everyone watch you while you’re talking to them! Sora: Okay, okay! I’m going right now! Mimi closes the front door after Sora gets inside. Mimi then heads off the porch and into the driveway. Just as she does, Giselle appears at the gate entrance. Mimi watches as Giselle jogs her way up the hill to the mansion. Finally, Giselle reaches Mimi and stops right in front of her. Giselle: (catching her breath) Come to cheer me on? Mimi: Actually, I have a favor to ask you. Giselle: (wiping the sweat from her forehead) Pardon? Could you say that again? I could swear you just said that you had a favor to ask of me. Mimi: Yes, I did. Are you sure you didn’t leave your brain out on the road somewhere? Giselle: (yelling) I am perfectly fine! (returning to her normal voice) Now, what was your favor? Mimi begins whispering something to Giselle. After a few seconds, Giselle begins to develop an evil smile on her face. Mimi finishes and pulls away from Giselle. Mimi: Promise you’ll do it? Giselle: I doubt she has a chance now... but if you’re that worried about her. Mimi: (nods in agreement) I am. I don’t want her getting anywhere near that grand prize! Giselle: (smirks) Because you won’t get it yourself, right? Mimi: (gasps) How did you know? Giselle: (walks past Mimi) It looks like I’m not the only one who’s missing her brain this morning. Mimi: (CC) At least I’ve assured myself that she won’t get the money either! Giselle: (CC) Since I probably won’t get picked, I’m going to try and get one of the favorites to trip up so that she doesn’t get chosen either. And Mimi’s plan will help me achieve my goal! Inside the mansion, Sora is now at the phone. The phone is already ringing on the other end. After three rings, someone answers it. Voice A: Hello? Sora: (happily) Matt? Is that you? Matt: (VO) Sora? Well, long time no see. Or should I say, here. Sora: Is Tai around? Matt: (VO) Huh? Oh, he might still be asleep. Let me check... Matt puts Sora on hold for a second to go look for Tai. A minute later, Tai picks up the phone. Tai: (VO) Sora! Am I glad to hear from you! Sora: I’m glad too. Where’s Matt? Tai: (VO) Huh? That’s it? You just wanted to say hi to me and now you want Matt again? Sora: Actually... I want to talk to both of you. Tai: (VO) Hey Matt! Sora says she wants to talk to both of us. Matt: (VO) Go ahead Sora! I’m here! Sora: (sadly) Guys... I’ve come to a decision. Tai: (VO) A decision? Matt: (VO) What is it? Sora: (sighs) I’ve decided... Tai and Matt: (VO) Yes? Sora: Guys, I’ve made my decision. (pointing at one and then the other) I choose... you! Matt: (VO) Come again? Tai: (VO) What did you just do? Sora: I pointed at my boyfriend! Tai: (VO) Um... Sora. Matt: (VO) We’re the ones with the videophone, not you. Sora: (sweatdrops in embarrassment) I knew that. Tai: (VO) What’s all this talk about boyfriends about? Matt: (VO) Why are you looking at me? Sora: Well... remember the letter I sent you a week and a half ago? Tai and Matt: (VO) Yeah? Sora: Well, after reading your responses... I decided that Matt was more passionate than Tai was. Tai: (VO) Come again? Sora: Don’t you understand? Matt, I’m in love with you! Matt: (VO) Huh? Ahem... I mean, of course you are. I knew it all along! Tai: (VO) What? How can this be? I thought we were meant to be together, Sora! Sora: I’m sorry, but my mind’s made up. You won’t believe what it took for me to gather the courage to tell you two the truth. Tai: (VO) You won’t believe how much grief I’m going to have to go through before I’m over this! Matt: (VO) Tai! Where are you going? Sora: Tai! Come back? Matt: (VO) Tai... what are you going to do with that? Hey, stop playing around! Sora: Tai! Don’t do it! Matt: (VO, laughing) I’m just kidding, Sora! Tai left! Man, if I could only see the look on your... Sora scowls, hanging up the phone on Matt. Sora: That Matt! Maybe I should’ve chosen Tai. (reassuring herself) No! Matt’s the right guy for me, and that’s final! Unknown to Sora, Mimi and Giselle are watching her from just outside the room. Giselle: I can’t believe she actually did it! Mimi: I knew she would! Giselle: But didn’t you used to have a crush on that guy? Mimi: I was just playing him. I don’t really like him. Giselle: You know, you’d fit right in with me at school. If only you weren’t so dumb... Mimi: Giselle! Giselle: (giggles) I’m just kidding! (grabs Mimi by the hand) Come on! Let’s go celebrate with a glass of ice cold water! Mimi: Hey! The deal’s not done yet! Giselle: Huh? Mimi: I still want you to do what I told you to do! Giselle: Are you sure that’s necessary? I mean, you saw what happened! Mimi: (angrily) Do it! Or else I’ll tell! Giselle: (nervously) Tell what? Mimi: You know... Mimi whispers into Giselle’s ear. Giselle begins to panic. Giselle: Please don’t tell! I can’t stand to be embarrassed any more than I already have been for the past six weeks! Mimi: (smirks) Then do what I told you! Giselle: I will! I promise! (heading for the kitchen) Tomorrow... Mimi: (stomping her foot) No! I want you to do it by tonight! Giselle: Okay. Just don’t say anything, okay? Mimi: (smiles) You got it. Giselle sighs as she walks to the kitchen. Giselle: (CC) After all I’ve done to everyone in this mansion, do I really deserve to be blackmailed? No, but if I don’t do this, Mimi will tell everyone about my secret! (pauses for a second) Is it just me, or did that weird spell that Eli kid cast make Mimi smarter? * * * * * * * * * * At about one o’clock, Casey goes outside to check the mail. Finding an envelope inside, she happily trots back to the mansion. Casey: (as she enters the mansion) It’s here! Our final challenge! Yeah! Soon after, the girls are gathered in the first floor recreation room to watch the video for the final physical challenge. Layla: You know, as we wind down the final few days, I’ve decided that you guys have gone through enough torture. So I’m going to make this challenge pretty simple. All you need is a pencil, a chalkboard, and your imagination. I’ll provide the pencils and the chalkboard! You just bring your imagination! With that, the tape shuts off. Meilin: What was Miss McKenzie babbling about that time? Sakura: (beginning to think) What would involve a pencil, a chalkboard, and our imagination? Casey: (ripping the envelope open) Why don’t we find out? Casey reaches in and pulls out a piece of paper, which also comes out with two index card sized notebooks. One of them has Duplica’s name on it, while the other has Jun’s. Each girl takes their respective notebook as Casey explains the challenge. Casey: (reading aloud) According to this, split into two teams lead by Duplica and Jun, one person will draw something on the chalkboard, and the rest of the team has to guess what it is. Madison: Sounds like a game of Pictionary! Jun: I see we’re going old school this time around. Duplica: (looking over Casey’s shoulder) Only in this game, the first team to five points wins. Jun: (stretching her fingers) This ought to be easy. Duplica: We’ll see, Jun! Let’s get this challenge started! [The team assignments (picked in random order): Purple - Duplica, Misty, Casey, Chelsea, Madison, Kari, Sora, Meilin Brown - Jun, Giselle, Rita, Yolei, Sakura, Nikki, Sasami, Mimi] Sakura: (CC) It’s hard to see Jun as a captain, especially after what just happened. But seeing as how I may have a shot at this, I’ve got to go for the extra hundred thousand! Chelsea: (CC) I’m not sure that they’ll be much of a team with Jun in charge. I don’t think too many people trust her right now. Twenty minutes pass before the doorbell rings. Madison leaves the recreation room to go answer the door. She returns a minute later, with Miss McKenzie right behind her, pushing a chalkboard into the room. Miss McKenzie pushes it over to where the couches are. Layla: Okay, please split up into your teams. The girls do so, with the purple team to Miss McKenzie’s right, and the brown team to her left. Layla: Both team captains should have gotten a notebook from the envelope. Right? Jun: (holding hers up) Yes! Duplica: (holding hers up too) Me too! Layla: Okay. What you’re going to be writing in those notebooks are what the other team will have to draw. Tear out twelve pieces of paper from the notebook. I’ll hand each team a pack of pencils so that you can write out your choices. There will be four categories. You must have three entries of each category: Pokémon, Digidestined Tools, Heads of the Tenchi gang, and Clow Cards. I’ll give you ten minutes to do so. After ten minutes and a lot of arguing over what to choose, the teams select their twelve choices. Miss McKenzie opens a box of chalk and puts two long pieces onto the rail, along with an eraser. She then pulls out a coin and motions for Duplica and Jun to come up. Layla: As mentioned in the introductory briefing, the first team to five points wins. That means going first is very important! (to Jun) I think it’s only fair that after what you’ve been through, you should call it. Duplica: That doesn’t make any sense, Miss McKenzie. Layla: True. But I’m in a hurry to get out of here. Miss McKenzie flips the coin into the air. Jun calls tails. The coin comes down and lands on the carpet, with the tails side up. Layla: Well Jun, your team goes first. The two team captains go back to their teams. Layla: Duplica, since your team lost the coin toss, you will pick first. I need you to pick someone from their team and pick which clue you’ll give them. Remember, you’ll have to go through each member first before going back through the order. After a brief discussion, the purple team decides to choose Mimi. Mimi goes over as Duplica shows her what she is to draw. Layla: Once Mimi has the clue, you’ll have one minute from the time she starts drawing to guess what it is. Do so and you’ll earn a point. Mimi looks a little unsure, but she heads off to the chalkboard anyway, handing the card to Miss McKenzie. Layla: Oh, and you can’t tell them what category it is. (to Mimi) Your one minute begins... now! Mimi begins drawing what seems to be a light bulb... which is what her teammates think it is. She then draws straight lines extending away from it. She begins pointing at these lines at particular... Yolei: Shine? Giselle: Flash? Jun: Draw something else! I don’t know! Mimi starts to fill in the light bulb with the chalk. Sakura: (shouting) Glow! The light bulb’s glowing! (Mimi nods as she starts to draw a rectangle) Huh? A rectangle? Sasami: It’s a card! The Glow Card, right? Mimi claps happily as she puts the chalk down, runs over, and gives Sasami a big hug. Jun: (looking at the other team) Okay, we want Casey to go up. Casey gets up as her team cheers her on. Jun shows Casey a card, but she hesitates. Casey: I don’t think I can do that one. Giselle: You’ve got to do it, kid. Chelsea: Come on, Casey! I’m sure you’ll get it! Casey: (giving the card to Miss McKenzie) If you say so. Layla: One minute... go! Casey draws an oval shaped object and begins to decorate it somewhat. She’s not too confident about what she’s drawing. Kari: A Digiegg! Casey nods as she continues to draw. The Digidestined begin yelling out the types of Digieggs. Sora: The Digiegg of Love? Mimi: Digiegg of Sincerity? Kari: How about the Digiegg of Light? The girls keep on going through the Digieggs until they’re left with only one... Sora: It’s the Digiegg of Courage! Casey: Yep! You got it! Casey runs back and high fives Sora. The whole team also gives her a high five. The game continues on. Rita goes up and attempts to draw a Pokémon. Her team cannot identify it though. She reluctantly states that she was drawing a Girafarig... which personally none of them knew what it was. Not even Giselle. The purple team takes the lead when Duplica goes up and draws a few squiggly lines... which Misty and Madison both quickly identify as the Water Card. Two to one. The brown team’s woes continue, as Sakura’s horrid drawing skills don’t help her teammates identify the head of Washu. Chelsea is chosen next for the purple team. She too is lousy with drawing, especially when it comes to people’s heads. After her minute expires, what was supposed to be a drawing of Tenchi’s head turns out to be a chocolate chip cookie with hair growing out of it. Go figure. Sasami comes up. She begins to draw something. After a few seconds, Mimi guesses it correctly on the first try... a Digivice from the first season. The score’s tied at two. Let’s resume the action, with Madison coming up to draw for the purple team. Rita: Give her that one! She won’t be able to draw that! Giselle: If she knows what it is, that is. Yolei hands Madison the card. She glances at it and then hands it to Miss McKenzie, heading for the chalkboard. Madison: But I’ve never seen a Cyndaquil before! (gasps, realizing her error) Oops... Layla: Well, it looks like you’ve lost your turn, Madison. Next! Meilin: (CC) I can’t believe Madison just blurted out the answer! Casey: (CC) What’s a Cyndaquil? I don’t think I’ve heard of that type of Pokémon. Wait... oh, now I remember what it is. Madison: I say that Giselle should go next! Giselle gets up. Madison hands her a card and sits back down. Giselle: (smiles as she hands the card off) That’s easy. Everybody knows that one. Layla: Go! Giselle begins drawing. She seems to be drawing a head of some sort, but her teammates don’t seem to notice. After awhile, Giselle begins to panic as she finishes her drawing. Finally, they start to catch on. Giselle is tapping the chalk on the board like crazy because they’re getting close. Finally... Sasami: That’s Mihoshi’s head, isn’t it? Giselle: (dropping the chalk) Finally! Thank you! Yolei: Funny... that doesn’t look one thing like Mihoshi. Giselle: You mean you don’t notice the hair? The freckles? The goofy smile? Yolei: Nope. Giselle: (rolls her eyes) Let’s just move on... The competition continues. Sora goes up and draws a couple of fists, quickly getting Meilin to identify it as the Fight Card. Nikki is next. After a bit of prodding one way, she finally gets them to notice that she is drawing a Blue Card from ‘Digimon Tamers.’ Sakura identifies it, being the only person other than Nikki on the team to see that show. Meilin is sent up to draw an Alakazam. Fortunately, she’s a decent drawer, as Duplica identifies the Pokémon in under ten seconds. The score’s now deadlocked at four. Layla: The next team to score wins. It’s the brown team’s turn to go up. Purple team, you can choose between Jun and Yolei. Sora: Let’s go with Jun. She won’t get this one. Jun: We’ll see! Sora hands Jun a card. Jun looks at it, winces, and then hands it over to Miss McKenzie. Her teammates cheer her on as she goes to the board. Layla: Go! Jun begins drawing what looks to be another head. Unfortunately, her teammates don’t seem to recognize whom she’s drawing. At one point, Sasami thinks that Jun is drawing her head. She wasn’t right, but she was closer than she thought. Time, though, runs out. Jun: (sighs) It’s a picture of Tsunami’s head. Sasami: Oh... you mean Tsunami, my grown-up self! Casey, Chelsea, Sakura, Mimi, and Meilin: Huh? Sasami: (sweatdrops) I’ll explain later. Layla: The purple team has a chance to win now! Brown team, you have a choice between Misty or Kari. Mimi: Misty! She won’t get this one! Mimi hands Misty a card. After looking it over, she hands it to Miss McKenzie and goes to the chalkboard. Layla: Ready? Go! Misty begins drawing a picture of a rabbit on the ground. She then draws a parabolic arrow into the air, where she draws another rabbit. Just as she draws another arrow, Madison gets it. Madison: The Jump Card! Misty: (screams) Yes! Misty runs over and celebrates with her teammates. Meanwhile, the brown team can only blame themselves for the loss. Still, they decide to be good sports about it and shake hands with their opponents. After doing so, Miss McKenzie addresses the two teams. Layla: I’m happy to announce that that was your last physical challenge. Tomorrow night, you will be voting for which four of you will be vying for the grand prize of up to one million dollars. I’ll see you all tomorrow! With that, the girls disperse and head off for some time to think about their votes. Night Forty At the dinner table, Giselle decides that it would be a good time to follow through with Mimi’s plan, since everyone was there eating. Giselle: (getting up) Excuse me, but I have an announcement to make! Everyone stops eating and looks at Giselle. Mimi can only smile as Giselle blurts out the secret. Giselle: (quickly) Soradoesn’twearanyunderwearwhenshegoestosleep! Sakura: Come again? Giselle: I said Sora doesn’t wear any underwear when she goes to sleep! The whole room goes dead silent. Sora blushes in embarrassment before quietly excusing herself from the table. Mimi is silently giggling to herself. And Giselle is just standing there, still in disbelief over the fact that Mimi made her say that. Jun: (breaking the silence) Sora, wait! Who cares? I don’t either! Duplica: (raising her hand) Neither do I. Mimi gasps in disbelief. Instead of getting everyone to scold Sora for her actions, they’re standing up for her and admitting their secret lives too! Her plan was backfiring! That was even evident when a fourth hand went up... and a surprising one, too. Sakura: (in surprise) Chelsea? Casey: (getting up and running out) I’ve totally lost my appetite... Chelsea: (blushing with embarrassment) I know, I’m only ten! But what can I say? I spend a lot of time around Zachary. Meilin: (raising an eyebrow at Chelsea) I hope you’re not implying what I think you are. Kari: Where did you get the idea to ask that question, Giselle? Giselle: (points to Mimi) Mimi made me! She said she would tell everyone my deepest, darkest secret if I didn’t do this! Sora: Mimi! Misty: Of all the rotten schemes anyone could have pulled... Mimi: Well, if I can’t embarrass Sora, then I’ll embarrass Giselle! Giselle: What? Mimi: Do you really want to know Giselle’s deepest, darkest secret? Almost everyone in the room nods, except for Mimi, Giselle, and Jun. They wait for Mimi to give them the answer. Mimi: (scratches her head and smiles) Guess what? I forgot. Everyone in the room facefaults. Mimi: (pleading to Giselle) Please, tell me what it was Giselle! I won’t forget this time! Giselle: (walking out of the room) Get serious! You think I’d tell you again? Mimi pouts and goes back to eating her food silently. After a few seconds, everyone else resumes eating as well, moving on to other topics and forgetting about what just transpired. Giselle: (CC) Saved by the brain! Madison: (CC) I would have never thought that Mimi would be so immature! Casey: (CC) I’ll never look at Chelsea the same again. * * * * * * * * * * Day Forty One After the events of the previous night, Mimi was content with settling down by herself in the second floor recreation room and watching an old Superman movie on TV. Mimi: It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman! (giggles) Boy, this sure is relaxing after last night. Sora: I’ll second that. Mimi turns to see Sora standing in the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest. Sora: (walking towards her friend) Mimi, why did you do that? Mimi: I’m sorry, Sora. I just thought that you had a good shot at winning. And I didn’t want you to. Sora: Jealousy got the best of you, huh? Mimi: (sighs sadly) Yeah. Sora: (sitting next to Mimi) Remember when we were at the point where we split the room in half with chalk? Mimi: (laughs) Oh yeah. That was a very interesting day or two. Sora: Believe it or not, when I wanted to team with you, it wasn’t because I needed your help to get some credibility among the others. It was because I thought you had a legitimate chance at it too. And I wanted to make sure to squash your chances before you became a serious contender. Mimi: So that’s why we’ve been having trouble getting along here! Sora: That, and the fact that we shared the same room for six weeks. (snickers) I guess you really don’t know your friend until you share the same space for a long time. Mimi: I hear ya, Sora! (sticking her hand out) Friends forever? Sora: (smiles and sticks her hand out) Friends forever. The two shake hands and then share a big hug. Sora then decides to stay and watch the movie with Mimi. Outside on the front porch, Sakura and Madison, another pair of close friends, are renewing their ties as well. Sakura: Madison... I have something to tell you. Madison: Go ahead. I’m listening. Sakura: (rubbing the back of her head) You know, the past few weeks have been very trying for both of us. Madison: That’s for sure. With my confession and everything... Sakura: About that... Madison: (smiles) I already know what you’re going to say. You’re not into that. You still want us to be best buds though, right? Sakura: Exactly. Madison: I’m with you, Sakura. Let’s go back to the way things were. Sakura: Okay. The two share a close, sisterly hug. Sakura gets up to head back into the mansion, but Madison stops her. Madison: Sakura... will you vote for me tonight? Sakura: If you’ll vote for me, then it’s a sure thing! Madison: Okay then! It’s a deal! Sakura: (CC) I’m glad that Madison understands me so well. Madison: (CC) Someday, she’ll come around. When that’ll be, I don’t know. But for now, I’ll leave it as is. Unfortunately, the same things cannot be said for another part of roommates... Jun and Giselle, who arguing in their bedroom. Giselle: I could care less about how you feel! Jun: Oh, is that the way it is? Giselle: You haven’t exactly been a model roommate. Jun: Neither have you! Giselle: I wouldn’t call your chances favorable after you tried to frame me. Jun: That’s the last straw! See if I vote for you tonight! Giselle: Who cares? I don’t need your vote! Jun: That’s fine by me! Jun stomps out of the room and slams the door behind her. Meanwhile, Yolei and Duplica are down in the first floor recreation room. Duplica’s trying to get some last minute supporters, while Yolei is playing a computer game. Yolei: Perfecto! I’ve got it! Duplica: Yolei, please! Yolei: What are you pleasing about? Did you ask me something? Duplica: Could you please vote for me tonight? Yolei: Tonight? You? Why would I want to do that? Duplica: (down on her knees now) I’m begging you! Please vote for me! Yolei: (giving in) Oh, alright. Just go away! I’m trying to play here! Duplica: (getting up) Thanks! You won’t regret it! Yolei: Sure... Duplica runs off to find some more supporters, while Yolei continues her game. Night Forty One It’s about seven o’clock... one hour before the Final Four vote. Chelsea’s decided to spend this last hour talking to her current boyfriend, Zachary, and fully explain her situation with Richie. Zachary: (VO) So, let me get this straight. You’ve fallen head over heels for this Pokémon trainer? Chelsea: In a word, yes. Zachary: (VO) Did I babble too much? Tell too many lies? Not there enough for you? What did I do wrong? Chelsea: Nothing. It’s just... I think Richie’s cute and interesting and... well, cute. And I can’t disappoint him now that we’ve got a date scheduled. Zachary: (VO) Oh, it’s like that? I understand. Chelsea: You do? Zachary: (VO) You know, I agree with you. We weren’t meant for each other. I think we should start seeing other people. I need to see someone who won’t turn into a witch and rip my heart out. Chelsea: (with tears in her eyes) It can’t be... Zachary: (VO) I guess it’s official. I’ll... Chelsea: Zachary, wait! Maybe I was a bit hasty... Zachary: (VO) I’ll see you when you get back. Chelsea: Zachary, I’m sorry! Zachary: (VO) You know, it takes a witch without a heart and a brain to realize that she needs to go to some meat market in Pallet Town and pick out a new object of desire. Chelsea: (weeping openly now) Zach... Zachary: (VO) Goodbye, Chelsea. With that, Zachary hangs up. Chelsea breaks down in her seat and continues to cry heavily. Eventually, Rita hears her. Rita comes in to try and cheer her up. Nikki, Madison, and Sakura soon join in to help, but it’s no use. As Chelsea continues to weep in sorrow, she contemplates her future with Richie. Meanwhile, Sasami is up in the confessional room... Sasami: (CC) My picks are Misty, Chelsea, Kari, and Sakura. If they don’t make it in, then something’s wrong, because they’re the ones who deserve it the most. Sasami walks out of the room and instantly hears Chelsea from downstairs. She heads down to join the already growing batch of supporters, which now also includes Mimi, Yolei, Duplica, and Misty. One sad hour later, everyone’s managed to get themselves back together and convene in the first floor recreation room for the Final Four vote. Miss McKenzie enters the room at eight o’clock sharp. Everyone takes a seat as Miss McKenzie sits in the center. Layla: Well, here we are. Forty one down, one to go. But tonight, twelve of you will walk out of this room in disappointment. That’s because only four of you after tonight’s vote will remain eligible for the cash grand prize, which could be as much as a million dollars. Before we begin, this has been such an emotional roller coaster ride that I’ve decided to open the floor before the vote to see if anyone has anything to say. Any volunteers? Surprisingly, Giselle raises her hand. She gets up and takes her position in the center of room. Giselle: I’m not here to get anyone’s vote, so get that thought out of your head right now. I’m just here to say that whomever you vote for tonight, make sure they deserve it. If they haven’t helped out around the house, given their all to win a challenge, or brought this house closer together, then they should be in the running. I know I haven’t done all of that. I shouldn’t and most likely won’t win. But don’t pick someone who’s in my position, because they deserve to hang their head in shame like me. Giselle heads back to her seat. Her speech elicits a few murmurs from the group, but nothing else. Madison raises her hand. Layla: Madison? Madison: (getting up) I just want to say that I hope that if you do vote for me that you don’t vote out of sympathy or because you’re one of my friends. I want you to take into consideration everything that I’ve done, both good and bad. Thank you. As Madison sits down, Yolei quickly jumps up out of her seat. Yolei: I just want to say to Madison that I’m sorry for judging her so harshly. I apologize for criticizing what I didn’t understand at the time. Madison smiles and nods her head as Yolei sits back down. Layla: Anyone else? No one else decides to stand up and speak. Layla: Okay, here’s how it works. One at a time, you’ll head to the confessional room, where a makeshift voting booth has been set up. On the ballot, vote for the four girls you think should be in the running for the cash prize. You are not allowed to vote for yourself, by the way. Meilin, seeing as you are closest to the door, you go first. Meilin goes up to vote first. In the confessional room, she marks down her votes... but only admits one of them to the camera. Meilin: (CC) As much as I’d like to regret it, Sakura is as good as anyone. Let’s hope she can at least make the foursome in case I don’t. Sakura, Misty, Yolei, and Sasami go up one at a time to vote. Casey is next. She picks her four, then confesses one of her choices. Casey: (CC) Believe it or not, one of my votes goes to Rita. She’s everything that I wish I was at this stage and my life. She’s so mature. I hope she at least gets a shot at the big one. Jun votes, scowling at the camera as she puts the ballot in the box and departs. Chelsea enters, placing her votes. She speaks into the camera. Chelsea: (CC) Believe it or not, my most surprising vote is for Casey. Yeah, she kinda freaked out the other night over my little secret. But that kid’s got a heart of gold. She’ll go places. Maybe one day she’ll be a Pokémon master. Until then, I hope this’ll tie her down. After Chelsea comes her friend, Nikki. She votes and departs. Mimi follows suit. Giselle then comes in and votes, speaking her mind about one of her choices. Giselle: (CC) There were some really gutsy girls in this mansion. None more so than Kari. She stuck her neck out for just about anyone. She deserves it, hands down! Sora, Rita, and Duplica place their votes, followed by Kari, who discusses one of her choices. Kari: (CC) I don’t know if Giselle deserves a pity vote, but she gets one anyway. She may have not been the easiest to get along with, but if you take away her arrogant attitude, she could have had a shot at this, both physically and mentally. It’s something for her to consider if she gets drafted for another reality show. Madison happens to be the last one to vote. She does her thing, but does show the camera one of her choices. Madison: (CC) There’s only one person I voted for that wasn’t obvious... Chelsea. She’s been the dark horse all along. No one notices her much. But she’s done a lot more than people take for granted. It may not be there on paper, but it’s in her heart. And that’s why she deserves a shot at the grand prize. Madison puts her ballot in the box and walks out, returning to the first floor recreation room. Miss McKenzie leaves to go count the votes. The girls wait patiently for the results... with one exception. Rita: No matter who makes it in, we all promise to be good sports about it. Right? Everyone nods in agreement. Ten minutes later, Miss McKenzie returns with the ballot box in hand. Layla: The votes have been tabulated and the decision is final. Before I announce the four finalists, let me remind those of you who picked up the wild card in the last prize challenge to see me after this is over so that you can determine what prize you’re going to go for in tomorrow’s drawings. With that, here we go. Miss McKenzie opens the box. Layla: I will go in the order that you voted, telling you how many votes you received. I will not tell you who voted for you. The maximum number of votes you can get is 15. I’ll tell you right now... the four finalists got at least eight votes. Miss McKenzie pulls out a card with Meilin’s name on it and a number... 1. Layla: Meilin, one vote. Meilin waves it off, knowing she wouldn’t get picked. She then pulls out Sakura’s card. Layla: Sakura, ten votes. You are one of the finalists! Sakura rejoices with glee, as Madison walks over to hug her friend. She also gets hugs and/or high fives from everyone else. While doing so, Miss McKenzie pulls out Misty’s card. Layla: Misty, nine votes. You are also a finalist! Misty: (pumps her fist in the air) Alright! Casey and Duplica lead the charge to congratulate her. Everyone, including Giselle, puts in their thanks. In fact, Misty and Giselle share a smile before shaking hands with each other. Layla: (pulling out the next card) Yolei, two votes. Yolei isn’t happy, but at least she got a few votes from someone. Layla: (with the next card) Sasami, four votes. Sasami is disappointed. She was hoping that she would’ve gotten more. Layla: (now holding Casey’s card) Casey, two votes. Casey: (cheerfully) I got two votes? Yippee! Mimi: She’s happy for that? Madison: Spare her. She’s a minor character. She doesn’t get to celebrate accomplishments like this that often. Layla: With that, I believe Jun’s next. (pulls out her card) Jun, zero votes. Jun just sits there quietly, not responding. Layla: (with the next card) Chelsea, eight votes. You’re finalist number three! Chelsea gasps in disbelief. She was actually one of the finalists! Everyone runs over to congratulate her, including her roommate, Casey. She was still so happy from receiving her own two votes that she was still jumping up and down... and causing Chelsea to do the same! Finally, the group calms down. Layla: Only one spot left. (pulling out a card and looking at it) Nikki? Zero votes. Nikki looked at her friends and sadly stared at the floor. She couldn’t believe that no one voted for her. Not even her friends! Rita was the first to try to console her, but she waved her away. She was not in the mood to talk any more. Layla: (with another card) Maybe it’s you, Mimi? (after a brief silence) One vote. Mimi: (in surprise) Only one? Are you sure? Layla: Yes, Mimi. It’s hard to miscount one vote. Yolei: (yelling) She should’ve gotten more! Sakura: (sweatdrops) At least we know who voted for Mimi. Layla: (pulls out yet another card) How about this person? Giselle? One vote. Mimi: How could I get the same amount of votes as a low life like Giselle. Giselle: Deal with it. You deserved it just as much as I did. Layla: (with the next card in hand) Let’s see, there should be five people left and one spot to fill. Does it go to you, Sora? Well... you got five votes. Close, but no cigar. Sora’s pleased with her result, though she was looking to be a finalist. Oh well... Layla: Four to go. (pulls out the next card) It’s Rita with one vote. Nikki: How did she get one vote and I didn’t get any? Rita: I’m sorry, Nikki. I would’ve voted for you if I remembered to. Layla: (with the next card in hand) Duplica is next. She earned... one vote. Duplica: (waves it off) Oh, I’m just here for fun anyway. Giselle: (snickers) Yeah, right. Layla: (pulls out the last two cards, but doesn’t show them) Well, if my memory serves me right, Kari and Madison have yet to see their cards. One of them is the fourth finalist. The other was just on the outside, looking in. Kari was sitting on the edge of her seat, waiting to hear her fate. On the other end, Madison grabs Sakura’s hands and begins to squeeze them nervously. Layla: Kari voted before Madison, so she goes first... (after a brief silence) and takes the final spot with twelve votes! (Kari begins to jump and celebrate) Madison, you came close with seven votes, but it’s not enough! Kari will join Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea for the final vote tomorrow afternoon! Congratulations! The girls begin to celebrate as Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea get special congratulations from the rest of the girls. It’s been a long journey, but it’s almost over. Outside the mansion, someone growls angrily and bangs her fist against the wall. She wasn’t happy with the way things went and was hoping that it would have turned out better. They didn’t. She was one of the unlucky dozen on the outside. End Episode Nineteen Layla: (VO) Can you believe it? Kari: (CC) It’s been a joyride and a living nightmare at the same time.
