This is it! The final episode of Roomies, the girls’ edition! Before we begin, remember that you guys voted on the winner a few months ago! So please, do not dispute the result! You chose the winner, not me! Misty? Sakura? Kari? Chelsea? Who’s it gonna be? Find out right now! Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters participating in this fanfic. * * * * * * * * * * Layla: (VO) On the last episode of Roomies... Giselle: (catching her breath) Come to cheer me on? Mimi: Actually, I have a favor to ask you. Layla: (VO) Mimi was trying to sabotage Sora’s shot at the cash prize, with Giselle’s help... Mimi: (angrily) Do it! Or else I’ll tell! Giselle: (nervously) Tell what? Mimi: You know... Layla: (VO) But Mimi’s plan backfired... Jun: (breaking the silence) Sora, wait! Who cares? I don’t either! Duplica: (raising her hand) Neither do I. Sakura: (in surprise) Chelsea? Chelsea: (blushing with embarrassment) I know, I’m only ten! But what can I say? I spend a lot of time around Zachary. Layla: (VO) Let’s not forget what happened when the girls tested their artistic skills... Yolei: Shine? Giselle: Flash? Jun: Draw something else! I don’t know! Mimi starts to fill in the light bulb with the chalk. After Chelsea’s minute expires, what was supposed to be a drawing of Tenchi’s head turns out to be a chocolate chip cookie with hair growing out of it. Layla: (VO) But after a few apologies, the gang prepares for the Final Four vote... Duplica: Could you please vote for me tonight? Yolei: Tonight? You? Why would I want to do that? Duplica: (down on her knees now) I’m begging you! Please vote for me! Yolei: (giving in) Oh, alright. Just go away! I’m trying to play here! Duplica: (getting up) Thanks! You won’t regret it! Yolei: Sure... Layla: (VO) But first, Chelsea got the shock of her life... Zachary: (VO) You know, it takes a witch without a heart and a brain to realize that she needs to go to some meat market in Pallet Town and pick out a new object of desire. Chelsea: (weeping openly now) Zach... Zachary: (VO) Goodbye, Chelsea. Layla: (VO) And then, another one in the Final Four vote... Layla: (with the next card) Chelsea, eight votes. You’re finalist number three! Chelsea gasps in disbelief. She was actually one of the finalists! Everyone runs over to congratulate her, including her roommate, Casey. She was still so happy from receiving her own two votes that she was still jumping up and down... and causing Chelsea to do the same! Layla: (VO) But she wasn’t the only one, as Sakura... Sakura rejoices with glee, as Madison walks over to hug her friend. She also gets hugs and/or high fives from everyone else. Layla: (VO) Misty... Misty: (pumps her fist in the air) Alright! Layla: (VO) And Kari also make the cut... Layla: Kari voted before Madison, so she goes first... (after a brief silence) and takes the final spot with twelve votes! (Kari begins to jump and celebrate) The girls begin to celebrate as Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea get special congratulations from the rest of the girls. It’s been a long journey, but it’s almost over. Layla: (VO) And now, the final episode! Roomies, the girls’ edition, starts right now! * * * * * * * * * * Duplica: Sixteen young girls... Jun: While another could turn everyone against you. (A picture of each of the contestants is shown, in alphabetical order, changing every second. In order, Casey, Chelsea, Duplica, Giselle, Jun, Kari, Madison, Meilin, Mimi, Misty, Nikki, Rita, Sakura, Sasami, Sora, and Yolei.) Giselle: It takes more than beauty to win this contest... Yolei: You’ve got to have brains, brawn, and a heart... Meilin: If you’ve got what it takes, step up to the plate... Casey: Show ‘em you’re number one! (Show several shots from past episodes, featuring several of the girls achieving victory) Kari: Some of these girls will form long lasting friendships... Madison was busy filming the whole thing with her camcorder. Meilin was pigging out on a bag of fortune cookies, while Sakura and Chelsea are playing pool and evaluating their chances. Chelsea: You’ve got it all the way. Majority rules! Sakura: But we’re both in. What if the vote is split? That doesn’t help either of us one bit. That also gives Kari and Misty a shot. Chelsea: If we cancel each other out, Kari’s got the free shot. Misty doesn’t stand a chance against her. Sakura: You think so? Chelsea: (hitting the cue ball with her stick) I know so. The cue ball connects with 12 ball, but it doesn’t go into a hole or touch anything else. Meilin: So, which one of you is willing to sacrifice the money? Sakura: Sacrifice? Chelsea: Why? Meilin: Well, like you said, if between the six of us it’s split three-three, hence, we’re screwed. Misty’s got herself and her three friends, so that’s four votes. Madison: (pulling the camcorder from her face for a second) And Kari’s got herself and four of her friends, so that’s five. Meilin: Which leaves Sasami as the lone vote... and leaves us out in the cold. The four girls stand there quietly to think for a minute. Then, something comes to Sakura’s attention. Sakura: Where’s Nikki? Madison: She disappeared after the voting ceremony ended. Rita went to look for her. Outside on the front porch, Nikki was sitting by herself, without her glasses on. She then gets up and heads off of the porch and onto the front lawn. After taking a few steps, she stops, sits down on the grass, and lies down on the grass so that she’s facing the graceful night sky. Nikki: There aren’t as many stars out as I thought there would be. (sighs) Why did I come here thinking I’d have a chance at actually winning? I should have stayed home. At least there, I could’ve done my schoolwork. Better yet, I probably could’ve started on that ghost story I’ve been meaning to write! This was just a waste of my time. As Nikki continues to reflect on her purpose for being here, Rita is still looking for her inside. Rita is currently making her way to the front door. Rita: I’ve searched this mansion from top to bottom, but there’s still no sign of Nikki. She opens the front door and looks outside, but she doesn’t see anything. Just as she is about to go in and close the door, though, she notices something on one of the patio chairs. Rita walks over and finds Nikki’s glasses on the chair. It’s at that point in time that Rita sees Nikki lying on the grass, quietly crying to herself. Rita: Nikki... As Rita tries to walk down to have a talk with Nikki, she takes Nikki’s glasses with her. She then notices the marble sized dent in the wall, right next to one of the windows. Back inside, in the first floor recreation room, Misty and Duplica are entrenched in a strategy discussion debate. Duplica: Aren’t they celebrating a little too early? Misty: Sakura and Chelsea? Of course they are. But that’s going to be their downfall. Duplica: So, what’s the plan for tomorrow? Misty: My guess is that my best chance lies in getting some of Kari’s supporters to vote for me. Duplica: And you’re going to do this without resorting to any tricks? Misty: That’s right, as you would say. Duplica: I know you want to play fair and everything, but we’re talking about Kari here! Misty: Yes, I know. But for some reason, I feel that I can get sway the votes in my favor. Duplica: Who are you thinking of persuading? Misty: Sasami will probably be the easiest. She doesn’t think highly of me though, so that could be easier said than done. Then there’s Yolei. She may be best friends with Kari, but Yolei’s never officially applauded her efforts. Duplica: So, will Sasami and Yolei be enough? Misty: Nope. That’s why I have to convince Giselle as well. Duplica: (in shock) What? You know she’s not going to vote for you! Everyone knows that! Misty: Exactly! That’s the last thing anyone expects! But her vote will be the one that will put me over the top! Duplica: (with a bit of uncertainty) I don’t know, Misty. You’re asking a lot there. Misty: I just have to get her to realize that I’m the one who deserves the money the most! Duplica: I think it would be easier if you tried to blackmail her, just like Mimi did last night. Misty: But her plan didn’t work, did it? Duplica: Only because Mimi couldn’t remember Giselle’s deep, dark secret. Misty: Oh, come on! Giselle doesn’t have a deep, dark secret! Mimi was making it all up! Duplica: I’m not too sure about that. Misty: Even if she does, I’m not going to exploit her! I’m not going to get anywhere for getting back at her for everything she’s done to me. I’d rather try to earn her vote honestly. Back outside... Nikki: Rita? Rita: You didn’t come here just to look at the stars, right? Nikki: Look Rita, I’m sorry for knocking you away earlier. Rita: I know how you feel. Nikki: (getting up) How could you? You got one vote! (yelling) ONE vote! Rita: Does it matter? Think about it! Nikki: I didn’t get any votes at all! Do you know how that feels? You don’t know how that feels! Rita: (in a soothing voice) I know you’re mad, but if you just listen to me, you realize that we’re both in the same position. Nikki: How could none of you vote for me? Nikki slams her fist into the ground... the same one she had thrusted into the wall earlier. She winces in pain as she pulls it in front of her face and starts to blow on it. Rita takes Nikki by the hand and examines the fist for herself. Rita: You shouldn’t have done that. Nikki: (still wincing in pain) I’m fine... Rita: We’d better get some ice. Rita hands Nikki her glasses with one hand and leads her back to the mansion with her other one. Nikki: Rita? Rita: (stopping for a second) Yes? Nikki: You didn’t come out just to look for me, right? Rita: (smiles) You know me well. (pulling Nikki along again) I’ll explain after we get some ice for that sore fist of yours. Nikki: Thanks Rita. You’re a true friend. Rita and Nikki head inside, as Rita giggles all the way to the kitchen. Nikki: What’s so funny? Rita: (laughs) I can’t believe you actually made a dent in the wall! Nikki: Oh, so now I can’t do that either? Back up in the second floor recreation room... Chelsea: Okay, I concede. If it’s for the good of the show. Meilin: Don’t worry. Sakura will split the money with us, right? Sakura: (nervously) Eh? Oh, sure. Madison: Oh Sakura, you’re so gullible! Kari suddenly enters the room, dressed in her pink pajamas. The girls look at her like she’s crazy. Kari: (rubbing her eyes) Could you please keep it down? I’m trying to sleep. Meilin: But it’s not even nine yet! Kari: But tomorrow’s a very important day. I don’t want to oversleep. Sakura: Sorry, Kari. We’ll keep the noise down. Kari smiles and heads back to her room. Meilin: (putting her hands on her hips) She’s up to something. I know it. Chelsea: I have to admit, it is suspicious. Madison: Forget about Kari. There’s nothing wrong with going to sleep early. Maybe we should too. Sakura: Huh? Meilin: You want to do the same exact thing the squirt’s doing? It’s a trap, don’t you see? Sakura: You read into things too much, Meilin. Day Forty Two At exactly nine thirty in the morning, the doorbell rings. Sasami goes to the front door and opens it to find Miss McKenzie standing there. Sasami: Oh! Morning, Miss McKenzie! Layla: Good morning, Sasami. I need to see the finalists right away. Luckily, Misty, Sakura, Kari, and Chelsea were all awake. It only takes them a few minutes before they’re all gathered in the entryway. Miss McKenzie talks with them for a few minutes before escorting them out of the door. On the way out, she leaves Sasami a manila envelope and instructs her to inform the others to watch the tape inside. After allowing everyone else in the house time to wake up, the twelve remaining girls gather in the first floor recreation room to watch the videotape. Layla: Good morning! I hope you girls enjoyed your last night here in Reedington. In a few hours, you twelve will decide who wins the cash grand prize. Right now, I’m whisking Misty, Sakura, Kari, and Chelsea away on a mini-vacation. In the meantime, you’ll get the chance to put together a series of questions to ask the candidates. We’ll see you at two o’clock! With that, the tape shuts off. * * * * * * * * * * Sasami has decided to work on her question alone, without anyone to help her. She intended on remaining a wild card. She didn’t want to be influenced by anyone. Meanwhile, Yolei and Mimi are in the middle of a small conversation. Mimi: So, she tried to convince you to vote for her? Yolei: Yeah. But don’t worry. There’s no way I’m changing my vote! Mimi: We’ll make sure she wins. She’ll be very happy. At that exact moment, Miss McKenzie had Misty, Sakura, Kari, and Chelsea quarantined at Reedington Elementary... but all in different rooms. Each of the rooms have a private camera, which Miss McKenzie said that they could say whatever they wanted. Let’s listen in, shall we? Kari: (CC) Well, here I am. It’s been a joyride and a living nightmare at the same time. Literally. But I’m glad it’s almost over. Sakura: (CC) This is it? I can’t believe it’s over already! I want to stay another week! Misty: (CC) I’ve learned a lot about myself the past few weeks. From working things out with Sora, to discovering that nothing ever comes easy when you live with fifteen girls. Chelsea: (CC) If you believe in magic, then you must also believe in miracles. I honestly didn’t think I’d be number four. I was imagining that either Sora or Madison was here instead of myself. But hey, I’ve got a shot at a lot of money. And I’m not giving it up that easily. Even if it means going against the plan we came up with last night. Kari: (CC) Sakura should win if everything falls into place properly. She’s been a role model for everyone in the mansion to look up to in every single aspect of this game. Sakura: (CC) Kari has played the role of peacemaker in the mansion several times. If anyone deserves to win, she does. Misty: (CC) If it weren’t for Kari, Sora and I probably would have throttled each other to death. Kari should win. Chelsea: (CC) If I’m not in contention to win, it should come down to Kari and Sakura. And based on merit alone, Kari would win it all. Just before two o’clock, Miss McKenzie returns to the mansion. All of the girls, minus the finalists, are waiting for her in the first floor recreation room. She sets up five chairs in the front of the room. She then walks over to the VCR and puts a tape into it. Layla: Well, you’re all probably wondering where the others have been. I decided to lock them up in a secret location, separated from each other. There were each given a camera from which they could say whatever they want about their experiences here, as well as a few other things. We’re going to start by hearing what Kari has to say. Miss McKenzie runs the tape. Kari’s confession comes up first, as the group listens to what she has to say. Next comes Sakura and then Misty with their respective confessions. Chelsea’s segment comes last. But some of the words completely shock Madison and Meilin. The tape then ends. Layla: Now that you’ve seen the tape, we’re going to begin the final vote ceremony. We’ll start by inviting the four finalists in. Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea enter the room. They each take a seat at the front of the room. Miss McKenzie then sits down on the seat on the far left end. Layla: Welcome, girls. There are two things to do before we actually have the final vote. Before we do those, though, let me inform you that the other girls just watched the tape of the confessions that you did this morning. The girls are a bit shocked at this announcement... especially Chelsea. Layla: And that allows the girls here to take that into consideration for when they vote. Each of the candidates will get one more chance to swing some votes their way shortly, but first we’re going to have the prize drawings. While the candidates were quarantined this morning, a lottery machine was used to determine who would win each prize. Miss McKenzie went over to the VCR and put in another tape. It starts immediately. It shows Miss McKenzie standing off to the side of an old fashioned lottery machine. Also in the room is Mr. Terada. Mr. Terada describes the drawing process. Terada: (VO) Each girl is given a specific colored ball and number. Every time they are eligible for a prize, their ball is put into the machine. If a girl’s colored ball comes up, she wins the prize. For every partial or full group of four candidates eligible for a prize, another drawing for the same prize will be done. For example, if four girls are eligible, only one will win the prize. But if five are eligible, two will win the prize. [Color Assignments: Red - [1] Casey, [2] Chelsea, [3] Duplica, [4] Giselle Blue - [1] Jun, [2] Kari, [3] Madison, [4] Meilin Yellow - [1] Mimi, [2] Misty, [3] Nikki, [4] Rita Green - [1] Sakura, [2] Sasami, [3] Sora, [4] Yolei] [Drawing 1: Polaroid I-Zone Camera] Terada: Casey, Chelsea, Duplica, Giselle, Jun, Kari, Mimi, Misty, Rita, Sakura, Sasami, and Sora are all eligible for this prize. That’s 12 people, so three of you will win the prize. The twelve balls are put into the lottery machine. It is then started. After a few seconds, Terada pulls the white ball from the spout, causing the machine to suck the first ball up. It’s Green 2. Terada pulls that ball away, drawing the second ball... Green 3. Terada does the same thing once more, with the final ball being Red 4. Terada: So, the Polaroid I-Zone Camera will go to Sasami, Sora, and Giselle. The three girls are happy that they get to walk away with something from this experience. [Drawing 2: 2 Huffy Loma Bicycles] Terada: This time around, only one of three can win this set of bikes. Misty, Sakura, and Sora, cross your fingers, cause here we go! After putting the three balls in, the white set ball is put in place. The machine is started. Mr. Terada pulls away the white ball and up comes Yellow 2. Terada: Yellow 2... that means that Misty, these two bikes are for you! Misty’s in shock over winning the bikes... but she’s happy that she won them anyway. [Drawing 3: Sony Playstation 2] Terada: This drawing’s for a Sony Playstation 2. Only one of these four girls will get it: Chelsea, Misty, Rita, or Sasami. Everything’s reset and the four balls of the respective characters are put in. This time, the Yellow 4 ball comes up. Terada: Rita, my dear, you win the PS2. Good job! Everyone applauds Rita for her win, but no one catches Rita blush after Mr. Terada’s compliment. [Drawing 4: Gateway Performance 1500 Computer] Terada: It’s time to draw for the computer! Once again there are four eligible, so there will only be one winner. This time, Kari, Madison, Misty, and Rita will get to fight over it. The lottery machine starts up again. The lucky winner this time has the Yellow 2 ball. Terada: Well Misty, it looks like you’ve won again! You’ve got a computer to go with that pair of bikes you won earlier! Misty is happy she won another prize... but she begins to wonder what she’s going to do with a computer. [Drawing 5: JVC GR-SXM330U Video Camcorder] Terada: One camcorder to split among four girls. Duplica, Madison, Sakura, and Sasami, you’re in the running for this one! After a few seconds, the Green 1 ball comes up. Terada: Sakura, it looks like the camcorder is yours. Sakura smiles... but then she spots Madison smiling right at her. Sakura groans, knowing that Madison might ask to borrow it one day. [Drawing 6: Wild Card] Terada: The final drawing allows Giselle, Mimi, Sakura, and Yolei to pick a prize of their choice that they missed out on should their ball be drawn from this machine. They’ve already chosen that specific prize beforehand, so let’s see who wins. The machine starts up one more time. Here, Red 4 comes out of the machine. Terada: And Giselle wins the wild card. Giselle selected the Gateway Computer, so we’ll be sending that your way! And congratulations to everyone who won a prize. With that the tape ends. Giselle seems proud that she has a computer to add to the camera she got. At least it wasn’t a total loss for her. Now back in the first floor recreation room... Layla: Well, congratulations to the prize winners, but that’s enough small talk. It’s time to talk about the cash grand prize. Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea all have a one in four shot to win it. Of course, since they cannot vote at all, the rest of you will be responsible for determining who should win. And to help yourselves decide, each of you generated one question to ask one of the candidates. This is now the time to ask those questions. We’ll go around the room, having each person read their question. Why don’t we start with Nikki? Nikki: This question is for Chelsea. If there’s anyone in this mansion that you’d like to have as a big or little sister, who would it be and why? Chelsea: It has to be Casey. (looks over at a smiling Casey) I got the lucky chance to bond with a minor character just like myself since we were roommates. She was a joy to live with and I wouldn’t mind living with her as a sister because there’s so much I’d like to learn about her. Layla: Giselle? Giselle: Misty, I want to know to what extent have you worked your differences with Sora out. Misty: To put it mildly, I’d like to think of Sora more of as an acquaintance rather than a friend. We’ve had a lack of things go our way in terms of working things out, but I’ve got to be happy with the fact that things could have been a whole lot worse. Misty and Giselle share a quick glare, while Sora takes Misty’s answer into consideration for her vote. Layla: Mimi, why don’t you go next? Mimi: Sakura, if you could switch places with one of the boys from the Pallet Town mansion, who would it be and why? Sakura: It would have to be someone who wouldn’t mind living with fifteen girls. (thinks for a second) I’ll say Tenchi. Hey, he lives with six already. Living with fifteen isn’t that much of a difference. Layla: Let’s see... Jun, you’re up. Jun: I’m a little reluctant to ask this, but this is for Misty. If you had the chance to cause some turmoil like I did, would you do it even if it cost you the money? Misty: Depends on the situation. But I definitely wouldn’t do what you did. Everyone else in the room nods in agreement. Layla: Madison, you have the floor. Madison: I already knew how Sakura reacted when I told her that I loved her. Kari, I want to know what your reaction was at the time. Kari: Clearly, I was shocked by the whole thing. I mean, it’s something I’ve never come across in real life. Of course, that could probably apply to everything that has happened here. But I have to say, it took a lot of guts to admit that here. Maybe one day you’ll find the one you truly love. Just hang in there. Madison isn’t completely happy with Kari’s answer, but she tries not to show it. Layla: Sasami. Sasami: This one’s also for Kari. Who do you think was the laziest person in the mansion? Kari: That would have been Rita. Mature or not, she did not take on as many responsibilities around the mansion as most of us had. Rita doesn’t think too highly of Kari’s remarks, so she notes them for later. Layla: Yolei? Yolei: Sakura, at any time did you feel lonely? Sakura: Of course. I’ve been away from my dad and my big brother for weeks. I even miss Kero a lot. But luckily, I’ve had my friends here to help me pull through it all. Layla: Casey, it’s your turn. Casey: Misty, if you were my roommate instead of Chelsea, what would you have done on the first day to make me feel more welcome? Misty: I know that we’ve met prior to coming here, but we never got the chance to learn more about each other. So I’d do that first so that we’d know each other inside and out. And then I’d find a way to make it so that we were both comfortable living with each other. Layla: Sora, let’s have you go next. Sora: Chelsea, if we were to switch places right now, would you vote for me and why or why not? Chelsea: (nervously) Well, I’m well aware that you are very athletic and that you did have problems getting along with Misty. But after I saw you trying to take advantage of your best friend, I probably wouldn’t vote for you, given that and the competition. Sora carefully takes Chelsea’s answer into thought, admitting to herself that Chelsea is telling the truth. Layla: Rita? Rita: Misty, here’s one for you. Given their prior monetary status, do you think Madison and Giselle even deserve to be here? Misty: That’s a tough question. Being selected for the show means that there was some quality of theirs that interested the producers. But I do think that how much money their family has should be an integral part of the application process in order to give those of us who aren’t as fortunate a better chance to win. Misty catches Giselle glaring at her once again. She also catches Madison’s reaction... one of sadness as Madison looks away and starts examining the other candidates. Layla: Duplica? Duplica: Chelsea, why did you decide not to at least try diving off the five-meter platform? It could’ve helped your team won. Chelsea: If I remember right, Kari, Sakura, and Misty were also on the same team as myself. Misty, being the captain, didn’t force us into doing any dive we didn’t want to do. When my turn to jump off the five-meter platform came up, I just decided not to go. I was a little afraid. That’s normal for someone who doesn’t dive regularly. Layla: And last but not least, Meilin. Meilin: (smirks) Sakura, if you could vote today, would you vote for Chelsea to win instead of yourself? Why or why not? Sakura: (gulps) Well, um... I guess I would. Meilin smiles as she sits down. Madison, Sakura, and Chelsea give her a ‘What were you thinking?’ look. Layla: With that, the question and answer period comes to an end. * * * * * * * * * * Layla: Here’s how the final vote will work. Remember the room we used for the first physical challenge? You know, the one where you were locked up for 48 hours? Sakura: (remembering the slap Giselle gave her to stay awake) I remember. Layla: Well, that’s where the finalists will go. They won’t have to worry about staring at you twelve while the voting is going on. Miss McKenzie leads Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea out of the room. She returns a few minutes later, minus the four girls. Layla: Okay, it’s now time to vote. The booth is set up in the confessional room. Use the camera to say anything about your choice, if you wish, and then put your ballot in the box. Return here when you’re done. Nikki, you’re up first. Nikki goes to the confessional room and fills out the ballot. She then shows her choice to the camera. Nikki: (CC) I voted for Chelsea. Rita convinced me that the three of us have to stick together and stand up for secondary characters everywhere. Let’s hope everyone else realizes what we’re doing and that they vote for Chelsea to win. Nikki departs. Giselle comes in, submits her vote, and promptly departs. Mimi comes in and yaks about her choice after filling out the ballot. Mimi: (CC) Like you didn’t know that I was going to vote for Kari. Digidestined all the way! Mimi leaves. Jun comes and goes, voting in the process. Madison talks to the camera, but she doesn’t say who she’s voting for. Madison: (CC) This was a tough decision, but considering all of the facts, she deserves to win. You go girl! After Madison exits, Sasami goes in. After Sasami is Yolei. Then comes Casey. And finally Sora adds in her two bits. Sora: (CC) Believe it or not, my vote goes for Misty. She’s right... we’re far from friends. But I’ve never seen someone work so hard to resolve our situation as much as her. That, and I’m sure Tai will win the boys’ edition, so there’s no need for Kari to win here. That would be overkill. As Sora does her confessional, the candidates seem to be conversing in the waiting room about something, but we can’t hear them. Back downstairs, Sora removes herself from the room. Rita votes, followed by Duplica. Duplica also speaks, but does not say who she voted for. Duplica: (CC) She is the one, no doubt. She’s done more than anyone can ask for. If that doesn’t earn her the money, I don’t know what will. Duplica leaves. Meilin is the last to vote. She states her vote to the camera. Meilin: (CC) Sakura, I know I gave you a hard time out there. I was just trying to throw some people off. I am voting for you only because I feel sorry for you. Kari does deserve to win, but you’re a better all-around player than she is. This one’s for you, Sakura! Meilin goes out and heads back to the recreation room. Layla: I’ll go get the girls and tally up the votes. After about a minute, Kari, Sakura, Misty, and Chelsea enter and take their seats. They all look around at everyone and try to figure out who voted for whom. Miss McKenzie returns a few minutes later, with the ballot box in hand. Layla: I have tabulated the votes. I just want you all to know that the decision is final. Before I read the votes, I have something to give the candidates. She hands each of the candidates a small envelope. They try to hold them up to the light to see what is inside, but to no avail. Layla: Candidates, inside each of the envelopes I gave you is an index card listing the amount of money you are playing for. You can’t see inside the envelopes, so don’t even try. Do not open them until after the winner is announced. I will now read the votes. Miss McKenzie opens the ballot box. She starts pulling ballots out, one by one. Layla: The first vote goes to Chelsea. Chelsea cheers quietly to herself. Layla: Kari... Kari doesn’t react. Layla: Kari... Kari still doesn’t react. Layla: Misty... she and Chelsea now have one, while Kari has two. Misty relaxes a little bit. Layla: Number five... Sakura. Sakura finally breathes a sigh of relief. Layla: Kari... Kari begins to smile. So do the other Digidestined. Layla: Misty... Misty doesn’t react this time. Layla: Chelsea... Chelsea is breathing heavily, still nervous. Layla: Sakura... Kari leads with three, while everyone else has two each. Sakura can no longer keep her eyes open, as she begins to silently pray to herself. Layla: Misty... Misty glances over towards Kari. Kari does the same to Misty. Layla: Kari... Kari starts to breath heavily. She’s on the verge of jumping out of her seat and dancing right there and then. Layla: It comes down to the last vote. If it’s for Kari, she wins. If it’s for Misty, she and Kari will be tied. Miss McKenzie pulls out the last ballot out of the box. Layla: And guess what? (after a moment of silence) Kari, you have just won Roomies, the girls’ edition. She shows the last vote, which is for Kari. Kari jumps out of her seat and starts screaming her lungs out. Misty is the first to give her a big hug. Sakura and Chelsea also congratulate her, followed by the rest of the girls. The celebration continues on for about ten minutes before Miss McKenzie finally manages to calm them all down. Layla: Now, hold on! You don’t even know how much money you won, Kari! Kari hands her envelope to Miss McKenzie so she can open it. Layla: Quickly, before I open Kari’s, let’s see what the rest of you could’ve won. Misty: (opening her envelope and showing her card) $445,000. Oh my god... Layla: That would’ve been outstanding if you throw in your 2 bikes and the computer, which you do keep, by the way. Chelsea: (opens hers up and nearly faints) $365,000? No way... Layla: Yes way, Chelsea. You could have had that much in your pocket right now. Sakura: (slowly opens hers and freaks out) $545,000! Sakura walks over to Miss McKenzie and gives her a hug, slowly crying into her dress. Layla: I know, it’s heartbreaking. Believe it or not, out of the finalists Sakura, you did have the most money. At least you have the camcorder you won. Miss McKenzie pries Sakura away from her as she opens Kari’s envelope. Layla: But despite coming up with the least amount out of you four, it’s not too bad for you, Kari. (shows Kari her card) $345,000 is not bad at all. Kari starts to freak out now. All of that money... it was all hers. She couldn’t believe it! She had to pinch herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Ouch! No, she wasn’t! She had just won $345,000! And her friends couldn’t have been any happier. Kari goes over to give Miss McKenzie a hug. Cheers ring out from the entire mansion as Kari celebrates her grand victory. Out of everything that’s happened in Kari’s life, she’ll definitely remember this day. Kari: (CC, wiping the tears from her eyes) I’m so happy. I just remember Misty, Chelsea, and Sakura all telling me in the waiting room that I was going to win. I didn’t want to believe them. I thought they were all just trying to inflate my ego so that I’d feel even sadder when I found out I didn’t win. I still feel that this is all a dream. That I’m still asleep in bed at home in Odaiba. But it’s not! I’m really here, and I really just won $345,000! Amazing! Three hours later... The cameramen swarm all over the house as they watch the girls pack all of their things up. It was time for everyone to say goodbye. It had been a very interesting six weeks. But it was all over. It was time for them to return to their normal lives. Outside, everyone’s bags, suitcases, and other things were all piled off to the side. Madison was gathering everyone in front of the porch so that she could get one last shot of the whole group. Standing in the back row, from left to right, was Rita, Giselle, Sora, Jun, Mimi, Yolei, and Meilin. Squatting in the middle row, from left to right, was Casey, Duplica, Sasami, and Nikki. Kneeling in the front row, from left to right, was Sakura, Misty, Kari, and Chelsea. Sakura: Come on Madison! Give that camcorder to someone and join us! Madison promptly did so, handing it off to one of the cameramen. He films a shot of the entire group using Madison’s camera, and then his own. That took about thirty seconds, before the group dispersed. They then broke up into their little packs to say their good-byes. Mimi: This will make quite a story for the American Digidestined! Sora: I’m sure it will. Have a safe journey home to New York, Mimi. Nikki: Don’t get into too much trouble, okay? Jun: Don’t worry. I’ve learned my lesson. I’ll go back to hunting boys now. Misty: Maybe one day we’ll have that rematch I’ve always wanted. Giselle: You’ll know where to find me! Chelsea: (writing something on a piece of paper) There. That’s my phone number, home address, and e-mail address. Make sure you keep in touch! Casey: I will, Chelsea! And don’t forget to root for the Electabuzz! Yolei: Thanks for everything! Madison: We should hang out again some time. Sakura: If I’m ever around Fuchsia City, I’ll drop by your Ditto performance theater! Duplica: And if you need help capturing a Clow Card, drop me a line! Sasami: I’ll miss you all! Rita: Yeah! Me too! Meilin: Can I go already? Kari: Meilin! You’re ruining our dramatic exit! [Begin playing “Goodbye,” by the Spice Girls, in the background] The girls all wave goodbye to each other as they depart from the mansion grounds. Mimi, Misty, and Casey leave first, in a white van heading for the local airport. Giselle, Sasami, and Duplica follow in a second white van shortly thereafter. Madison’s private limousine pulls up. Her bodyguards help pack her stuff in. Madison gets in to the limo, along with her bodyguards. The limo then pulls away. A small van comes along to pick up Chelsea, Nikki, Rita, and Meilin, who all squeeze their stuff into it. Sora and Jun reluctantly have to share a van of their own, but they don’t seem to mind. That leaves Yolei, Kari, and Sakura still outside the mansion. Sakura begins to strap on her roller skates as Yolei and Kari look on. She gets up and extends her hand to the duo. Sakura: I guess this is it. Yolei: (shaking hands with Sakura first) I guess so. Good luck, Sakura. Kari: (now shaking hands with Sakura) Yes, good luck. Sakura: If either of you want to hang out with Madison and I, let us know. Yolei: Don’t worry! We will! Sakura: Oh, and Kari, congratulations. Kari: Thanks, Sakura. I’ll never forget you. Sakura: I’ll never forget you either. Kari and Sakura share one last hug. Yolei joins in to make it a threesome. After a few seconds, they let go of each other. Sakura puts her book bag on her back and starts skating down the driveway. Sakura: Goodbye! Kari and Yolei: Bye! As Sakura disappears from sight, the last van pulls up the driveway. Kari and Yolei grab their stuff and start loading it into the van. As they get in and pull away from the mansion, each of them gives the mansion one last look. Goodbye my friend (I know you're gone, you said you're gone but I can still feel you here) It's not the end (You gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear) So glad we made it, time will never change it, no no No no no no (You know it's time to say goodbye) No no no no (And don't forget you can rely) No no no no (You know it's time to say goodbye and don't forget on me you can rely) No no no no (I will help, help you on your way) No no no no (I will be with you every day) No no no no...
