Speaking of which, he steps on screen, since he is the host. Oak: Salutations everyone, and welcome to Roomies. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Professor Samuel Oak. I live here in Pallet Town as I do research. Studying these Pocket Monsters, or Pokémon, as most of you know them, takes a lot of time. So I decided to take up this hosting job for the next six weeks as a way to help relieve my stress. Of course, that doesn’t get rid of any of my responsibilities, but it helps. A couple of minutes later, the camera follows Professor Oak as he walks through his Pokémon Reserve. Suddenly, a mansion comes into view in the background. At this point, Professor Oak stops and begins to talk into the camera again. Oak: Behind me stands my newly built mansion. I would be living in it right now, but I allowed it to be used for this little competition... under the grounds that they promised that the place would still be standing afterwards. Anyway, sixteen young men from four different anime shows will be attempting to live in that mansion for the next forty-two days. While doing so, they’re going to have to earn each other’s respect and trust. Why? Well, at the end of this little experiment, they will vote on who deserves to receive the grand prize... up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. Who will be victorious? Well, the only way you’ll find out is if you stay tuned. Why don’t we watch as the young gentlemen arrive. Another scene change shows us a camera that’s pointing right at the front door. Two familiar figures are walking up to it. They happen to be the two trainers who live right here in Pallet Town: Ash Ketchum and Gary Oak. They are each carrying a book bag full of stuff, as well as one small suitcase apiece. Ash: (CC) Hi! I’m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and I want to become a Pokémon Master! Pikachu, if you’re watching this, wish me luck! And don’t give my mom or Mimie any trouble, okay? Gary: (CC) I’m Gary Oak. I already know that a lot of people will be against me from the get go because I’m the grandson of the host. Well, I’d just like to say that I have never been inside this mansion. My grandpa also doesn’t participate in the voting process, so there’s no way he can swing the vote. My destiny is in my own hands. Ash runs to the door and tries to open it. It is locked. Before Ash can say anything, Gary notices that the flag on the mailbox, which sits right at the start of the walkway to the house, is up. He opens the mailbox and finds a message inside. He reads it aloud. Gary: Welcome! One of your roomies possesses the only key to the front door, and so you will have to wait until he arrives. Ash: You mean we have to wait? Oh man. The guys don’t wait long... a small van pulls up the driveway. It stops right in front of the duo. Out of the van comes the Season 1 Digidestined: Tai Kamiya, Matt Ishida, Joe Kido, and Izzy Izumi. They begin to pull their bags out, except for Tai, who goes over to shake hands with Ash and Gary. Tai: Hello. I’m Tai. Ash: (shakes hands with Tai) I’m Ash, and this here is Gary. Gary: (shakes hands as well) Hi. Matt: Tai! Will you get your stupid bag out of the way! We can’t get the rest of our stuff out! Tai: I’m coming, I’m coming! Don’t get your hair in a knot! Joe: (CC) Hi to everyone back home! Yes, I’m Joe Kido, and I think a lot of people are surprised that I’m here because of all of the work I have to do to become a doctor. The reason I came was to get away from it all. Hopefully, this’ll be a nice, relaxing vacation. Tai: (CC) The name’s Tai! Man, I’m ready to get this adventure started! Granted, we’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere without any supplies, but hey, this should be fun! Matt: (CC) I’m Matt. The only thing I’m looking forward to right now is getting all of my stuff unpacked so I can kick back and relax! Izzy: (CC) Prodigious! My name’s Izzy, and I can’t wait to see what type of Internet connection we have here. It must be top-notch... especially if the great Professor Oak is funding the house. As all of their bags are now out of the vans, the other Digidestined introduce themselves to the two hometown Pokémon trainers. Matt: So tell me... is it really worth it to capture all of those Pokémon? Ash: Is it worth it? Of course it is! To be the ultimate Pokémon master, I have to catch ‘em all! It helps if you take time to become friends with them, though. Izzy: You mean Pokémon aren’t used just for battles? Gary: Well, they are and they aren’t. It just depends on the trainer. They serve several purposes. Joe: (interjecting) Such as for research, like your grandfather does, right? Gary nods in agreement. Tai is about to put in his two cents when a limousine makes its way up the driveway. Gary: Who’s driving the fancy wheels? Matt: Beats me. I’d sure like to know. The white van that had been carrying the Digidestined pulls out as the limo pulls in. A chauffeur gets out to open the back door. Five people come spilling out... Tenchi Masaki, the lone representative from his show, and the four Season 2 Digidestined: Davis Motimiya, Cody Hida, TK Takashi, and Ken Ichijouji. The other six react accordingly. Tai: How did you guys get a better ride than we did? Matt: Yeah! If it weren’t for us, you wouldn’t even have jobs right now! TK: First of all, they had connections... me. Joe: (mumbling under his breath) I knew we shouldn’t have let him be one of the original Digidestined. Gary: (pointing to Tenchi) And where do you fit into all of this? You can’t be a Digidestined! Tenchi: I’m not. My name’s Tenchi Masaki. You know, from ‘Tenchi Muyo!’ Izzy: (eyes bug out in surprise) You mean you’re the guy who lives all of those beautiful women? Tenchi: (sweatdrops) That’s me... Tai: Seriously? I didn’t know that! Matt: You must be one lucky guy. Tenchi: (sighs) If only that were true... Tenchi: (CC) Well, everyone knows who I am by now. I’m Tenchi, and I’d just like to say that any chance to get away from those girls... even if it’s just for six weeks, is just great! TK: (CC) I’m TK Takashi. People tend to refer to me as Matt’s younger brother. Well, I am, but I intend to show that I’m an independent person, and that I don’t need him to watch over me. Davis: (CC) My name’s Davis, and boy, I can’t wait to get into this mansion! I feel like I’m in heaven! Forty-two days without any worries! No books, annoying older sisters, or threats to the Digital World to worry about. Oh, and Kari, I love ya babe! Cody: (CC) My name’s Cody, and I only have one thing to say. Can we please just get this over with? Ken: (CC) I’m Ken Ichijouji. You know, the boy genius. The ex-Digimon Emperor too. Although I’ll kill anyone who mentions that name. Ash: (points to Ken) Hey! Didn’t you use to be the Digimon Emperor? Ken: (CC) Okay... I’ll give them a warning before I kill them. Happy? Davis: Um, whatever your name is, Ken doesn’t like talking about his past. It’s best not to talk about it, okay? Tai: (VO) I can’t believe it. Not even a minute has gone by since Davis got here, and he’s already trying to assert himself as a leader. Usually, I’d frown about that, but seeing that Ash and Gary don’t know him that well, he’s going to need all of the brownie points he can get. After a little bit of discussion, the group discovers that none of them have the key to the house. Davis: This is totally lame! When are we going to get into the house? Tai: Whenever whoever has the key arrives. Tenchi: I have a question, guys. (everyone looks at him) How are we going to decide whom is rooming with whom? After all, I doubt all sixteen of us are going to sleep in one room. Izzy: He’s got a point. Joe: So how should we decide? Tai: I say we just room with someone we know. That way, we feel more comfortable. Cody: That could work. Ash: Okay, Gary and I will be roommates. Gary: That’s fine with me... as long as you stay on your side of the room. Ash: (angry) What is that supposed to mean? Izzy: I think Ken should room with me. Ken: (a little hesitant) Huh? Matt: That’s good. It’ll allow you two to talk more about computers and stuff that none of us would probably understand. The rest of the group gave a collective nod. Tai: Matt can room with me, since we know each other. Joe and Cody can share a room, since they are good friends. That leaves Davis, TK, and Tenchi... Davis: No way! I am not rooming with TB! TK: TB? My name’s TK, Davis. Tenchi: If you don’t want to room with each other, then one of you can share with me. TK: I wouldn’t mind rooming with Davis. It’s just that he doesn’t want to room with me. Davis: The only way I’d room with you is if you’d promise to stop hanging around Kari so much. TK: Why? She’s my best friend! Davis: She’s mine too! TK: If those are your demands, then forget it. I’m not rooming with you. Davis: That’s fine with me. TK and Davis turn their backs on each other. Tenchi, standing to the side, sweatdrops. Tenchi: And I thought I had girl problems. Gary: You know, maybe we should wait. We should consider the others as well, and whom they want as roommates. Cody: Okay. We’ll wait then. Davis: (VO) I’ll do whatever it takes to get Kari for myself. Tenchi: (VO) No offense to either TK or Davis, but I don’t want to get hooked up in their little affair with this Kari girl. I’m also deciding against rooming with them in hopes that someone a little older and mature will come along. Not that I have anything against Ken, but he seems more comfortable with his friend Izzy. Oak: (VO) When we return... Li: (concentrating) Force, know my plight! Release the light! The group watches as Li attempts to break down the door. Tai: You know, there’s gotta be a better way to open the door than this! Oak: (VO) The house members get impatient to get the key to the front door, so they resort to other methods. That is, until the key carrier arrives. And a little later... Tai: Who wants eggs sunny side up? Matt: (VO) Damn it Tai! It’s seven o’clock in the evening! Who wants eggs at this crazy hour? Davis: (with his hands raised in the air) I’ll have two please! Oak: (VO) When Roomies returns... * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Thus far, eleven of the sixteen contestants have arrived. Unfortunately, they are still outside because they don’t have the key to the house. One of the five who has yet to arrive has it, and then won’t be able to get in until he gets there. The camera spots one of the contestants, Pokémon watcher Tracey Sketchit, running up the hill towards the mansion with a very heavy backpack. Oak: (VO) Oh boy... looks like Tracey forgot to set his alarm clock this morning. He sleeps in very late, you know. Tracey: (still running, completely out of breath) I can’t... believe... I over... slept. I... bet... everyone’s... waiting... for me... to get there. Suddenly, a taxicab pulls up from behind him and stops next to him. Tracey stops running as the door opens up. We see Tori Avalon beckoning for Tracey to get in. He accepts the offer and steps in. He closes the door as the taxicab continues its ascent to the mansion. Tracey: Thanks for the pick up, guys. Tori: No problem. Why were you running anyway? Didn’t you have a ride? Tracey: Well, since I reside here in Pallet, I had to walk up here. I was going to come up with my friends Ash and Gary, but they left me behind! Third Voice: Some friends. Tracey sees a third figure sitting on the other side of the cab. It’s Li Showron, and he doesn’t seem to be too happy. Tracey: Excuse me, but who are you and where did you get those spiffy clothes of yours? Li: It’s none of your business! Tracey: I was just asking. Yeesh. Tori: Don’t mind him. (extends his arm out) The name’s Tori. Tracey: I’m Tracey. Nice to meet you Tori. Tori: (points to Li) And that’s Li over there. I wouldn’t talk to him much. He likes to pick on little kids... especially my sister. Tracey: He picks on your sister? How old is she? Tori: (takes out a picture of Sakura) This is my sister, Sakura. She’s 10. Tracey: (blushes a little) Wow, she’s cute! Tori and Li: (simultaneously) Back off! There’s no way I’m letting you get your hands on my sister/teammate! Tracey wisely backs off of the subject and decides to just glance out the window for the final minute or so of their taxi ride. As the taxi pulls up to the house, the doors open and the three spill out. They instantly go to take out their bags. Li: (CC) I’m Li Showron. I’m a direct descendant of Clow Reed himself. And yet, I can’t use magic to find out why I’m even here in the first place! I should be out there capturing Clow Cards! Tori: (CC) I’m Tori, and I’d just like to say that I’m very protective of my little sister. Anyone who tries to harm her will have to answer to me. Tracey: (CC) My name’s Tracey. I’m originally from the Orange Islands, but I live here in Pallet so I can study Pokémon with my idol, the great Professor Oak! Who would ever imagine that my one dream in life would come true at such a young age! Before introductions could be completed, Davis runs around the trio, searching for the key. Davis: Rats, they don’t have it. Tenchi: Shoot. Tracey: We don’t have what? Ash: Tracey, we’re looking for the key to the house. None of us has it, and someone was supposed to bring it. Tori: You mean we can’t get in? Li: Leave this to me. He pulls his sword out of its sheath, and heads to the front door. Davis: Look out, he’s got a sword! Tai: You know you’re not supposed to bring anything like that! Tenchi: Man, now I’m wishing I brought my sword with me. Cody: But you know you can’t. I tried to bring my kendo stick, but they didn’t let me. They said I’m might poke someone’s eye. TK: Trust me, if he points that sword the wrong way, it’ll be much worse than poking an eye out. Li ignored all of them as he began to summon his magical powers. The group watches as he attempts to break down the door. Tai: You know, there’s gotta be a better way to open the door than this! Li: (concentrating) Source of light with ancient spin, send forth the magic power within! Force, know my plight! Release the light! Lightning! With one swing of the sword, Li sends a streak of lightning right at the door. It complete destroys it. Everyone looks on in shock. Li slowly returns his sword to his sheath before stepping into the house. A few seconds later, he steps back out and stares at the others. Li: Well, are you going to come in or not? Everyone nodded. They slowly pick up their book bags and suitcases and make their way inside. Once inside, the group quickly goes their own ways, as everyone wants to conduct their own personal tour. Tai heads upstairs and quickly locates one of the bedrooms. He goes in, and sees the small TV, two twin sized beds, a table, a mini-fridge, and a couple of other things. He notices the black wallpaper, which spooks him a little. He goes over to inspect the closet, and finds that there’s enough room for two people to fit their clothes in. Tai: Wow, this isn’t too bad. If only the wallpaper wasn’t so black... Back downstairs, most of the group had made their way to the first floor recreation room. In there was a giant 40 inch TV, a computer, two tables, a bookcase full of books, a couch, and an assortment of ten chairs of all shapes and sizes. Izzy: (charges right for the computer) Let’s see what this baby can do! Joe: (heading over to the bookcase) I wonder if they have any medical books here. Matt: (stopping Joe) Joe, forget about that! You’re supposed to be here to get away from all of that stuff. Joe: Sorry. I guess I forgot. Davis: Look at what I found guys! They all run over to where Davis is hunched down in the closet. They look in and see a vast assortment of board games in there. Cody: There must be enough games in there to play until the cows come home! Matt: That’s supposing that they know the way home. Ash: I haven’t played any board games in a long time! Let’s play something! Meanwhile, Tenchi and Tori had managed to find their way to the kitchen. They instantly noticed the ceramic tiles that lined the floors and the walls. They look in all of the drawers and find an assortment of pots and pans, as well as loads of cooking materials and food. Tori: You know, maybe we should start cooking dinner. Everyone will be getting hungry soon. Tenchi: Okay, I’ll help. Tenchi: (VO) I haven’t cooked much since Sasami arrived at my house a year ago. I’m not that good, but I know a few tricks of my own. In the living room, Gary is seen looking around at all of the pictures hanging on the wall, while Li sits quietly on the sofa, meditating. Gary notices this and goes over to him. Gary: Whatcha up to? Li: Leave me alone. Gary: Hey! I’m trying to be nice for once, and people still don’t want to talk to me. Li: Will you just shut up! Gary: Fine. Gary walks off to find the others as Li goes back to meditating. Gary: (VO) You know, Li’s a strange kid. First he uses some magical power to break the door down. Now, he doesn’t want to socialize with anyone. Why is he here anyway? I wish this were one of those Survivor-type shows so we could vote him off. Outside, another limousine pulls up to the front door. The final two cast members, Brock and Richie, get out and begin to pull out their bags. Brock: (CC) Hello ladies! I’m Brock, and I’m here to rock this house! Yeah! Richie: (CC) Hi, I’m Richie! Ash, I hope you’re in there! This’ll be just like old times! You and me, talking about Pokémon all day! Brock is wearing a string necklace which has a key attached to it... the key to the front door. Richie: Where is everybody? Are we the first ones here? Brock: Must be. Otherwise they would be waiting out here for us. They can’t get in without the key. Richie: (who reaches the now non-existent door first) Brock... who says they can’t get in without a key? Brock looks and sees that the door is no longer there. Brock: What happened? There’s supposed to be a door there! Richie: Why don’t we go in and find out? The two head in, as they drop their bags off in the front hallway, where everyone else’s is. Suddenly, they hear footsteps. They look up to see Tai coming down the stairs. Tai has also spotted the two arrivees. Tai: (waves hello to the duo) Hello, I’m Tai? You guys living here too? Richie: For the next six weeks, at least. I’m Richie. Brock: And I’m Brock. Tai: Nice to meet you two. I think everyone else is already here, so let’s go find them, okay? Brock: Wait a second. What happened to the door? Tai: Oh, that? One of the guys knocked it down using some type of magic. I think his name was Li. Richie: Why would he do that? Tai: (points to Brock’s necklace) He was a little too impatient to wait for you. The trio walks around as they search for the rest of the group. Oak: (VO) When we return... We see Davis pull out a white marble, and then groan about his selection. Davis: (CC) Why me? Why do you guys always like to make me feel miserable? Oak: (VO) Our cast goes through the roommate selection process. And then... Tai: Who wants eggs sunny side up? Matt: (VO) Damn it Tai! It’s seven o’clock in the evening! Who wants eggs at this crazy hour? Davis: (with his hands raised in the air) I’ll have two please! Ash: (doing likewise) Me too! Me too! Gary: (VO) They are so stupid! Brock: (spitting out something) Man, this tastes terrible! Oak: (VO) When Roomies returns right after these messages... * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Now that all sixteen roomies are here, they are about to get their first reality check... they are about to select their roommates. Gary walks back outside and sees that the flag on the mailbox is up again. Gary: How can it be up again? Gary opens it and sees a videotape and two sealed manila envelopes inside. He pulls them out and heads back inside. At this point in time, everyone’s currently in the first floor recreation room, with the exception of Tenchi, Tori, and Brock, who are cooking dinner. Gary: Guys! Look at this! The gang gathers around Gary as he opens the envelope marked number one and pulls a piece of paper out. He reads it aloud. Gary: Insert the videotape into the VCR. Further instructions will be given while it is playing, so make sure that everyone is in the room. Tai: I guess somebody better go get the others. TK: I’ll get them. As TK heads off to the kitchen, everyone takes a seat near the TV. Except for Gary, that is, who turns on the TV, puts the tape into the VCR, and then pushes play. TK, Tenchi, Tori, and Brock get in just as Professor Oak appears on the screen. Oak: Well gentlemen, if you’re watching this, then that means that you’ve arrived at my mansion safe and sound. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Professor Oak. I’m a Pokémon researcher who resides here in Pallet Town. Anyway, let’s skip the formalities. Hopefully you guys have gotten to know each other, and my mansion is still in one piece. Everyone glares evilly at Li. Li sighs and hangs his head in shame. Li: (CC) Okay... I made a mistake destroying the front door. It’s not like someone else would have done it eventually. Oak: Anyway, despite the fact that this experiment involves five Pokémon cast members, of which three currently reside here in Pallet, and of which one of them is my grandson, they do not possess any fair advantage over the rest of you. I do not take any part in the voting. The scene changes, as Professor Oak is now presenting some charts and graphs from his lab. Oak: Now that all of the logistics have been taken care of, allow me to go over a few things. First off, hopefully you have noticed the map that is in the first envelope. Take a good look at it boys. You’re going to need it if you’re going to be able to find your way around. Gary looks in the envelope and pulls the map out. Davis, TK, Cody, Tori, and Tenchi all go over to him and look at the map with him. The others continue to watch the tape. Oak: For the next forty-two days, you will be living under the same roof with each other. Interesting, huh? But before we can get on with those prize and physical challenges, we have to decide who will be roommates. I’m sure you’ve been giving it some thought. We are aware, though, that it is unfair to some of the underrepresented anime, as well as the unpopular characters, to have you decide amongst yourself who are roommates. Therefore, we have thought up of a scientific solution. Open the second envelope and follow the instructions inside. Other than that, I’m done. See you in the morning! As the tape stops, Gary begins to reach into the bag when Tenchi stops him. Tenchi: Um... I think we should do it in the kitchen. I want to make sure that I don’t burn the house down. Tori: I just want to make sure that the food doesn’t get burnt. The sixteen make their way to the kitchen. Tenchi, Tori, and Brock go back to cooking as the others gather around the dining table. All except for Tai, who seems intent on cooking something himself. Brock: You want to cook something? Tai: Yep. Tenchi: Well, I guess we could use all the help we need. Go ahead. As Tai starts searching for ingredients, Gary reaches into the envelope once again. He pulls out a bag filled with sixteen different marbles. There is also a piece of paper in there, which has the instructions. He also pulls out eight copies of the floor plan and two extra keys to the house itself. Gary: (reading the instructions allowed) We are well aware that many of the cast members do know each other personally. We do intend to spread you around so that you get to know everyone else. Our first attempt will be to randomly assign roommates. Each cast member must reach into the bag and pull out one marble. After everyone has drawn, look for whoever has the same colored marble as you. That person is your roommate for the duration of your stay. The color of the marble also marks what room you will be sleeping in. Izzy: Well I have to agree that doing it at random ensures that we don’t get someone we are already friends with. Tracey: Except for the fact that there are eight Digidestined guys! All of the non-Digimon cast members glare at the Digidestined. Matt: (CC) Hey, we may be the majority, but that doesn’t mean we have any advantage whatsoever. Tenchi: (CC) I’m not afraid to get along with anyone here, but Tracey is right. With eight Digidestined, the probability that two of them will share a room is pretty good. Izzy: (CC) Shouldn’t I be saying something like that? The group begins reaching into the bag, as each of them pulls out a marble. The four cooks (Tori, Tenchi, Brock, and Tai) go last, so that they aren’t accidentally knocked over by one of the others. In the midst of it all, we see Davis pull out a white marble, and then groan about his selection. [The room assignments: Red - Brock and Gary Gray - Cody and Richie Blue - TK and Izzy Green - Tori and Tai Black - Li and Tracey Brown - Tenchi and Ken Orange - Matt and Joe White - Davis and Ash] Brock: (CC) You know, ever since I first met Gary, he’s seemed like a real jerk. But I have reason to believe that his attitude’s changed recently. I’m willing to go along with that. (cries) Too bad he doesn’t hang out with those cheerleaders anymore! Cody: (CC) I’m not sure what to think. Richie and I really haven’t spoken to each other much since we got here. In fact, we haven’t spoken at all. Who knows how this will turn out. Izzy: (CC) Although I don’t mind having TK as a roommate, I still wish I would’ve shared a room with Ken. At least then, we could have a discussion about computers every night. Tori: (CC) Tai seems like a laid back guy. Maybe too laid back. As I look over at him cook, I think he doesn’t care much about what he does, either. Why is he cooking eggs anyway? Tracey: (CC) Personally, after Li sliced the front door down, I’m terrified of him. And now, I have to share a room with him. I have a feeling that this is all a setup. Everyone’s making me looking dumb on purpose. Why don’t they understand that I’m a real person with feelings? Tenchi: (CC) It’s kinda nice to room with one of the older guys. You know, maybe he’s been having girl problems lately as well. We could discuss our situations and give each other some advice. That would be okay, right? Matt: (CC) I like Joe as a friend and everything, but having him as a roommate will totally cramp my style. Can’t I switch with anybody? Davis: (CC) Why me? Why do you guys always like to make me feel miserable? I get stuck with Ash! I get stuck with Ash! Wait... that doesn’t seem to be too bad. As the cooks continue preparing dinner, the others head upstairs to the bedrooms. Cody and Richie reach their room first... and find it to be pretty small. Cody: What’s up with this? Why is this room so small? Richie: It’s discrimination! You’re the runt of the Digidestined, and I’m a three-shot character. Why else would we be given a crappy room? Cody: Hey! Don’t call me a runt! Just because I’m only eight years old doesn’t give you the right to call me names! Richie: I wasn’t calling you anything! Cody: Well, then you won’t mind if I call you a jerk! Matt and Tracey jump in and keep the two from getting into a fistfight. Matt: Cody! Calm down! Tracey: He didn’t mean it Richie! Cody and Richie quickly settle down. They give each other one cold stare before heading into their room without another word. Matt: Can you believe those guys? Tracey: (sighs) Nope. I just hope they’re both still alive in the morning. Matt: Forget morning. Let’s hope they make it to bed! Over to the white room, which believe it or not, is the smallest bedroom of the eight. It also is the only bedroom in the house that has a bunk bed rather than two twin sized singles. And guess what the two residents of the room are fighting over... Ash: I want the top bunk! Davis: No, I want it! Ash: (putting his hand in Davis’ face) I want it! Davis: (stepping on Ash’s left foot) I want it! Suddenly, Li comes diving into the room, tackling both Davis and Ash into the lower bunk. Everyone else runs to the door to see what’s going on. Li: I’m tired of hearing you people whine and argue all day! Can’t you find something more constructive to do with your time? Ash: This is constructive! Davis: We’re trying to figure out who gets the top bunk! Ash: Why try and figure? It’s mine. Davis: No, it’s mine. Ash: It’s mine! Davis: It’s mine! Li motions to pull out his sword again. Ash and Davis quickly notice, and hastily end their argument. Li slides the sword back into its sheath as TK walks into the room. TK: Why don’t we settle this the old-fashioned way? TK pulls out a penny. He shows Davis and Ash both sides, just to assure them that it’s a real coin and not a fake. TK: (as he flicks the coin into the air) Call it Davis! Davis: Tails! The coin lands on the ground. It’s tails. Davis: (begins to celebrate) Ha! In your face, Ash Ketchum! I got the top bunk! I got the top bunk! I got the top bunk! Everyone in the room sweatdrops. TK: (a little annoyed) Davis... just get up there before I convince everyone here that you’re an expendable commodity. Davis: You wouldn’t! Wait... what’s a commodity? This time, everyone in the room facefaults. Before Davis can say something stupid again, the group hears a bell ringing from the bottom of the stairwell. Tenchi: (yelling) Guys! Dinner time! The twelve quickly run off to deposit their bags in their rooms, and then they head downstairs towards the dining room. There, they see an assortment of dishes... from roast beef to wonton soup, from ham sandwiches to garden salad, and from broccoli to... eggs? Tai: (coming out of the kitchen with a pan full of eggs sunny side up) Who wants eggs sunny side up? Matt: (VO) Damn it Tai! It’s seven o’clock in the evening! Who wants eggs at this crazy hour? Davis: (with his hands raised in the air) I’ll have two please! Ash: (doing likewise) Me too! Me too! Gary: (VO) They are so stupid! Ken: (CC) I find it very weird that Tai is serving eggs at this hour. Whether he’s trying to break the heavy tension between the group, or if he’s just incompetent, I can’t tell. Tori, Tenchi, and Brock also make their way out to the table, as everyone sits down. They begin to start eating... before Tenchi stops them. Tenchi: Hey! Don’t we need a prayer first? Gary: (smirks) Okay, sure. Davis: Allow me! (coughs once to clear his throat) Dear God, thanks for the grub! Let’s eat! Everyone except for Tenchi starts going for the food once again. Tenchi sweatdrops. Tenchi: (VO) I have to say, these guys aren’t exactly the most polite people I’ve ever seen. Tenchi eventually joins in, making sure that he gets something to eat. As the group begins to converse, a strange look forms on Brock’s face. Brock: (spitting out something) Man, this tastes terrible! Tori: Hey! I spent a lot of time cooking that roast beef, you know. Brock: Well, it looks like you might have undercooked a piece. Tori: Even if I did, it was disrespectful to spit that out in front of everybody. Brock: I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to offend you Tori. Tori: (CC) I’ll forgive him, but that was still uncalled for. Hasn’t he ever heard of spitting your food into a napkin? Brock: (CC) How many times do I have to say ‘I’m sorry’ before Tori forgives me? Izzy: (CC) After one day, I can safely conclude that there are a lot of people watching their backs right now. Right now, I’m one of the few people who are probably not under suspicion just because I haven’t peeved anybody off. A little later, while some of the residents have gone up to their rooms, Ash, Tai, Matt, Brock, Gary, Davis, Izzy, and Richie are gathered in the recreation room playing Monopoly. Tai: (rolls the two dice) Five and three, so that makes eight. Izzy: (smirks) I’m glad you can count Tai. Tai: Shut up. Anyway, where’s my thimble? Tai counts out eight spaces... and lands on B & O Railroad. Matt: Looks like you ended up on B & O, which belongs to me! Twenty bucks, please. Tai: (grumbles as he hands the money over) Man... Ash: (picks up the die and rolls it) Three. Ash moves his shoe three spots... and ends up in jail. Richie: (sarcastically) Good going, Ash! You ended up in jail! Gary and Davis: (simultaneously) Hey! That’s my line! Brock, Tai, Matt, and Izzy break out in laughter. Ash crosses his arms in frustration. Richie: (CC) Ash looks a little angry at me for making fun of him, but what I can say? Unlike earlier, we’re just having fun now. That’s all. Gary: (CC) You know, living with these losers isn’t too bad. As long as you don’t get on someone’s bad side, this little vacation may actually be worth something. Laughter in the room continues as the screen fades to black. End Episode One Oak: (VO) Next time on Roomies... Li: (sighs) I’m sorry for ruining your mansion Professor Oak. Oak: (VO) I’ll remind Li of several of the rules, while the rest of the cast wonders whether he has done enough to warrant him being kicked out earlier. Tracey: He brought a real life sword, used it to slice down the door, and he threatened Ash and Davis with it! Tori: I told you that kid was nothing but trouble. Davis: He could’ve killed me with that sword! He’s got to go! Oak: (VO) Then, the newly opened confessional room very quickly becomes popular... Tenchi: (CC) Basically, you can categorize the people in this house in two groups. Either you’re really dumb and you deserve to be in an insane asylum, or you’re really quiet and you sit by yourself all day wondering if an asylum is safer than this place. TK: (CC) It’s not my place to judge people, but seriously... this has gotten out of hand really quick! Oak: (VO) And if keeping the residents from tearing each other apart wasn’t hard enough, they now have to team-up in the first physical challenge. Ash: (VO) Basically, this is just a big Pokémon round up. Scene of Tai and Li attempting to get to the same Tauros. Tai and Li: (simultaneously) Tauros, return! Izzy: (CC) This challenge is worth a hundred grand for each of us, and a few members of the team aren’t taking it serious enough! Tracey: (talking with Professor Oak) They certainly don’t teach you this stuff, do they? Oak: (VO) Next time on Roomies... Copyright Date: 5/16/01
