Sorry that this is a little late... but here's Episode 2 of the boys' edition of Roomies! Disclaimer: None of the characters belong to me. * * * * * * * * * * Cody: (CC) Can we please just get this over with? Oak: (VO) Previously on Roomies... Ash: Is it worth it? Of course it is! Oak: (VO) The sixteen residents move in... with the help of one dangerous sword... Davis: Look out, he’s got a sword! Tai: You know you’re not supposed to bring anything like that! TK: Trust me, if he points that sword the wrong way, it’ll be much worse than poking an eye out. Li: Force, know my plight! Release the light! Lightning! With one swing of the sword, Li sends a streak of lightning right at the door. It complete destroys it. Oak: (VO) Tensions grow even bigger as their first dinner goes slightly wrong... Ken: (CC) Whether he’s trying to break the heavy tension between the group, or if he’s just incompetent, I can’t tell. Brock: (spitting out something) Man, this tastes terrible! Tori: Hey! I spent a lot of time cooking that roast beef, you know. Brock: Well, it looks like you might have undercooked a piece. Oak: (VO) But that’s nothing compared to what happens when the roommate selection process brings out the worst in a few of them... Cody: Hey! Don’t call me a runt! Just because I’m only eight years old doesn’t give you the right to call me names! Richie: I wasn’t calling you anything! Li: I’m tired of hearing you people whine and argue all day! Can’t you find something more constructive to do with your time? Ash: This is constructive! Davis: We’re trying to figure out who gets the top bunk! Li motions to pull out his sword again. Ash and Davis quickly notice, and hastily end their argument. Oak: (VO) One day down and forty-one to go. Day Two At ten o’clock in the morning, most of the gang is already awake and running about. One person... Li Showron, is currently meeting with Professor Samuel Oak in private over a possible rule violation. Li: (sighs) I’m sorry for ruining your mansion Professor Oak. Oak: You’d better be sorry! That mansion cost a lot of money to build! Li: I didn’t mean to... it’s just that... Oak: You couldn’t stand to wait, could you? Li silently nods in agreement. Oak: I called up the producers at Kids’ WB last night, and they were not happy. For me to be on such good terms with them, and then having to tell them that one of our representatives endangered the safety of the other cast members, it’s just embarrassing! Li: I’m sorry. Oak: Luckily, the network agreed to pick up the tab for the damage that you’ve done. Of course, they left the producers and myself to decide whether or not this violation should result in expulsion from the show. Li just sits there silently. Oak: There’s also the matter of you pulling out your sword in the middle of an argument with residents Ash Ketchum and Davis Motimiya. Li: They were annoying me with their argument over which one of them would get the top bunk in their room. Oak: Nevertheless, I am a forgiving man. I will give you twenty-four hours to make amends with Ash and Davis. If I believe that you have shown enough remorse towards them, I will let you continue with the show, provided that no more incidents occur. Li: And if I refuse? Oak: Then I have no choice then to ask you to pack your things and to move out by three o’clock today. Li: (sighs) Okay. I’ll forgive them. Oak: One more thing. I request that if you are to remain in the mansion, then you need to give me your sword, as well as any other weapons that you may have on you. Li complies with Professor Oak’s request, as he gives up his sword and the small stack of Clow Cards that he had captured. Oak: I will hold these for you personally, so there’s no need to remember. Speaking of remembering... I’ll be watching you. While all of this is going on, Tori, Tracey, Ash, Davis, and Brock are gathered in the living room, as they discuss their opinions of Li. Tracey: He brought a real life sword, used it to slice down the door, and he threatened Ash and Davis with it! Tori: I told you that kid was nothing but trouble. Brock: We’ve got to do something about him. Davis: He could’ve killed me with that sword! He’s got to go! Ash: I agree. He didn’t have to do that. Brock: You know, if you two wouldn’t have argued about which one of you would get the top bunk, he probably wouldn’t be in this situation. Tracey: True, but rules are rules. You can’t bring a weapon of any kind into the mansion. Tori: Figures... anyone who hangs around with my sister can’t be too bright. Tracey: Then doesn’t that make you the dumbest of all since you’re her brother? Tori: Shut up. Ash: I bet Professor Oak’s kicking him out of the mansion right now. Tracey: What makes you say that? Brock: Isn’t it obvious? Other than the aforementioned incident, he also broke down the front door... or so I heard. Tori: Yeah, that was him. Davis: I hope he does get kicked out. Guys like him are nothing but trouble. Tracey: (CC) I think it’s plainly obvious that all of us want Li gone. Especially Tori. I remember the tension between the two of them from the taxicab. It makes me wonder if they’ve ever thought about working together, since they are from the same show. A couple of minutes later, Li enters the room. The quintet stares at him silently. Li: Would one of you mind getting the others? I’d like to apologize for my behavior yesterday. Davis: Oh, so now you come crawling back to us, huh? Tori: Figures. Brock: Will you two give it a rest? Give him a chance to say he’s sorry. Ash: Yeah. Everyone makes mistakes, even dumb ones. Myself included. Tracey: I’ll go get everyone. Tracey runs off, and returns a few minutes later with the rest of the cast. They all take a seat on the floor around Li and the others. Li: (to himself) Here goes nothing. (to the group) Hi everyone. I’m taking this opportunity, while I still have a chance, to apologize for everything that I’ve done since my arrival yesterday. The whole cast watches closely with intent. Li: First of all, I apologize for bringing my sword despite knowing about the rule that weapons aren’t allowed. Second, I apologize for using the sword to break down the door. I was probably impatient just like most of you were, but what I did was totally uncalled for given the circumstances. Third and finally, I’d like to apologize personally to Ash and Davis for threatening them last night. He looks at the two in question. Ash is emotionless, yet Li notices the smile slowly being formed by his lips. Davis, on the other hand, still looked ticked off and in no mood to forgive him. Li: I personally don’t know if any of my apology is getting through to you two, but I just want to say that I am truly sorry. I overreacted last night. There was no need for me to pull out my sword and threaten you guys with it. As much as it pains me to say that I was wrong in doing so, I’d like to ask for your forgiveness. It is only the second day, after all. Why don’t you just start off with a clean slate? Ash: (after a few seconds of silence) It’s true that you did overact. Besides, I suppose that you’re doing this because you want to stay here, right? (Li nods) And I’m guessing that you were willing to give up your sword to Professor Oak to do so. (Li nods again) Ash gets up and walks up to Li. Ash: In my journey as a Pokémon trainer, I’ve learned to always react on my own instincts. Right now, my instincts are telling me that your apologies are sincere. (sticks out his hand) So... my name’s Ash! It’s a pleasure to meet you! Li: (smiles, then shakes hands with Ash) I’m Li Showron. Nice to meet you! The group claps their approval. Everyone then turns to Davis, who is still sitting silently to the side. Davis continues to glare at Li. Li decides that making the first move on Davis would be more convincing to him rather than waiting for him to get up. Li: (walking over to Davis) Come on Davis! Ash believes in me! Ash: Doesn’t he deserve a second chance? He’s sorry for what he’s done. Davis: (sighs) I’ll never forgive Li for what he did. I personally think that his action were intentional. Li: What? Davis: (getting up) But... believe it or not, there is a side of me that agrees with what Ash is saying. He sticks out his hand to Li. Li does likewise, and the two of them slowly and unsurely shake hands. Davis: I’ll respect your wish for a second chance, especially in front of the rest of the gang. But personally, I will stand by my position when I say that I can never allow a second chance at friendship between us. With that, Davis walks out of the room before anyone can object. TK: (CC) I don’t get Davis. Li is honestly making an attempt at starting anew after what happened yesterday. Ash forgave him. Why couldn’t Davis? Li: (CC) I truly am sorry, and I’m not joking about it either. I regret bringing that sword in the first place. Why can’t Davis see that? Ken: I think I’d better go talk to Davis. He knows me the best, so chances are he’ll talk to me then anyone else. Ken runs off after Davis. Everyone else, with the exception of Li, Ash, TK, and Brock, leave the room to go back to whatever they were doing beforehand. TK: Don’t worry about Davis, Li. He can be a little stubborn sometimes. Brock: As Misty would say... so can Ash! Ash: Hey! Li: Thanks for the support guys. You don’t know how much this means to me. With that, Li leaves the room. Oak: (VO) After this short break... Tai: (reading the paper aloud) If you’ve ever wanted to speak out your thoughts without the rest of the cast hearing, then the Confessional Room is just for you. Oak: (VO) The newly opened confessional room very quickly becomes popular... Tenchi: (CC) Basically, you can categorize the people in this house in two groups. Either you’re really dumb and you deserve to be in an insane asylum, or you’re really quiet and you sit by yourself all day wondering if an asylum is safer than this place. TK: (CC) It’s not my place to judge people, but seriously... this has gotten out of hand really quick! Oak: (VO) And later on... the residents will have to put all of their grudges aside as they compete in their first physical challenge. Gary: (VO) Am I the only person on this team who’s serious about winning? Tai and Li: (simultaneously) Tauros, return! Cody: Why won’t it get into the stupid Pokéball?! Oak: (VO) When Roomies returns... * * * * * * * * * * Night Two The group is gathered in the dining room, eating dinner, as Ken comes in with a manila envelope in hand. Ken: Guys! I think you’d better read this! Tai gets up, takes the envelope from Ken, and then pulls out the piece of paper inside. Tai: (reading the paper aloud) If you’ve ever wanted to speak out your thoughts without the rest of the cast hearing, then the Confessional Room is just for you. Ken: (CC) Basically, you go into this room and speak your mind. And every time you do it, you add five thousand dollars to your personal prize pot. Hey, if it’ll help me win, then I’m all for it. Tai: Hey... it looks like it’s right beside the upstairs recreation room. Instantly, Ash, Gary, Tracey, Tenchi, Tori, Li, Davis, Izzy, TK, and Ken get up and rush out of the dining room and upstairs. Davis and TK are racing to get there first, and TK wins. Davis growls as TK dashes in and closes the door right in his face. TK: (CC) I’m glad that I got here first. Let me just say that Davis needs to cool down. Like I said before, Li wants a second chance. Now, it’s not my place to judge people, but seriously... this has gotten out of hand really quick! Davis: (CC) I’ll never forgive Li for what he did, no matter how many times he says sorry. TK: (CC) Davis, just accept Li’s apology so we can all move along with our lives! Davis: (CC) I know TK’s probably criticizing my decision, but I’m sticking by it no matter what! Li: (CC) I have to accept the fact that Davis won’t acknowledge my apology. But I can’t! It’s really important that he accepts it, or I could get kicked out tomorrow! Later that night, as Tenchi is about to get his turn in the Confessional Room, he looks around. Li is over with Davis, despite the fact that Davis continues to refuse his apology. Ash and Gary, whom he learned were both major rivals, were currently in an argument over who raises their Pokémon the best. Brock and Tori were in their own little argument over who actually knew how to cook. And as for Cody... well, he wasn’t fighting with anyone else. In fact, he tended to keep away from everyone. Earlier that day, he had heard Cody mumbling that he hated being here. Tenchi sighed as Izzy came out of the room. Izzy: It’s all yours, Tenchi. Tenchi: Thanks. Tenchi: (CC) Basically, you can categorize the people in this house in two groups. Either you’re really dumb and you deserve to be in an insane asylum, or you’re really quiet and you sit by yourself all day wondering if an asylum is safer than this place. I don’t like pointing fingers, but those individuals know exactly who they are. Up in the orange bedroom, Matt and Joe are having their own discussion over the events of the first two days. Matt: I’d never imagine that we’d be at each others’ throats after two days. Joe: Me too. We’ve seen Li slice down the front door, Ash and Davis show how alike and different at the same time, and Brock and Tori fight over who is the better cook... and were all suffering because of it. Matt: Tell me about it... I thought the steak was a little undercooked. Joe: I hope things get better in the morning. Matt: Seriously. Imagine what would happen if this went on for the next six weeks! Joe: I don’t want to imagine. Matt: Then we should figure out some way to resolve all of these conflicts... or the door won’t be the only thing that needs replacing around here. Day Three Ken looks outside on the front lawn, as Ash, Davis, and Li are sitting down with Professor Oak. Ken: (VO) Right now, Professor Oak is checking up on Li, and he’s verifying his progress with Ash and Davis. We’ll all know in a few minutes if he stays or goes. Sure enough, Ash, Li, and Davis get up and start heading for the front door. Before they go, though, Ken watches as Professor Oak hands Ash another manila envelope. Ken: (as Davis opens the front door and walks past him) So, what happened? Ash: (coming in after Davis) After a few discussions, the professor decided to give Li a reprieve. Ken: That’s great! Congratulations Li! Li: (entering last, and then closing the door behind him) Yeah, but I’m still sad that Davis hasn’t accepted my apology! What’s wrong with him? Ken: Forget about him for now. I think you should be thanking him. Li: What? Ken: Honestly, I thought Davis would’ve requested for you to be booted. Ash: He said that he wouldn’t feel threatened by Li if he stayed, but he still won’t forgive him. So Professor Oak decided to let Li stay, provided he doesn’t make any other rule infractions. Ken: That’s nice to hear. Ash: (opening the manila envelope) There’s a videotape in here. (reading the label on it) It’s labeled: Play immediately! Davis: (who had been standing to the side the whole time) I guess I’ll go get everyone. In a matter of minutes, the whole group is gathered in the downstairs recreation room. Ash puts the tape in and pushes the play button. Instantly, the professor’s face appears on the screen. Oak: Good morning Roomies! Behind me is my Pokémon reserve. Most of you are aware that nearly a thousand Pokémon of more than 150 different species live here and are raised by me personally. Most of them belong to trainers that reside here in Pallet Town. Pokémon trainers are only allowed to carry six Pokémon at a time. It is here at the reserve that you will compete in your first physical challenge. The instructions in the manila envelope will explain it further. With that, the tape turns off. Ash pulls out the instructions and reads them aloud. Ash: Welcome to the first of eight physical challenges. Today, you will be helping Professor Oak recover some Pokémon that have gotten loose on the preserve. Meet the professor at his lab at one o’clock today. Tracey: We’re going to be helping the great Professor Oak! Ash: I wasn’t finished, Tracey! (goes back to reading the instructions) Before arriving, though, the group must be split up into two teams. The team captains for this challenge are Gary, representing the blue team, and Ash, representing the red team. Brock: Ash and Gary are the captains? Boy, is this going to be ugly. Ash: (CC) I’m a team captain? Yippee! That afternoon, the sixteen gather in the backyard of Professor Oak’s laboratory. They have already split up into two teams, with Ash’s wearing red wristbands, while Gary’s team is wearing blue ones. [The team assignments (picked in random order): Red - Ash, TK, Izzy, Richie, Joe, Tenchi, Tori, and Matt Blue - Gary, Brock, Tai, Tracey, Cody, Li, Davis, and Ken] Oak: Well, you all probably know about the challenge by now. But I can see the look on your faces. Most of you don’t know how to operate a Pokéball, much less what it is. So today, I’m going to teach you all the basics of Pokémon so that you can successfully complete your challenge tomorrow. We see all sixteen cast members now sitting in a small classroom, as Professor Oak talks about his vast knowledge of Pokémon. Ash: (VO) Why do the rest of the Pokémon cast and I have to sit through this? We already know how to capture Pokémon. Tai: (CC) I’d never imagine that today would be the day that I’d actually have to learn what a Pokémon is. Richie: (VO) I think it’s a great experience for me, since I had never met Professor Oak prior to coming here. Later that day, the cast is practicing with some of the tamer Pokémon outside. Most of them seem to be capturing and recalling the Pokémon with ease. The lone exception is Cody, who is having trouble recalling the Butterfree that he is working with. Cody: (aiming the Pokéball at Butterfree) Return! Butterfree dodges the beam. The butterfly Pokémon continues to fly around the area. Cody: Why won’t it get into the stupid Pokéball?! Richie: (walking over) It’s very easy, Cody. You first have to get the Pokémon to trust you. That means you need to stop yelling at it. Cody: (calming down) Okay, then what? Richie: Then you aim the Pokéball straight at Butterfree. Calling the name of the Pokémon sometimes helps. The Pokémon then knows what to expect, and then it will willingly return. Cody: It’s worth a try. (points the Pokéball at Butterfree again) Butterfree, return! Butterfree sees the beam and dodges it once again. Cody yells in frustration. Richie: Funny... it always worked for me. Cody: (CC) I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I think Butterfree is just taunting me to capture it. At this rate, my team will lose the challenge just because none of the Pokémon will listen to me. Day Four After a good night’s rest, the two teams are gathered at the Pokémon reserve. Oak: Okay, today you will be competing in the Pokémon Recovery challenge. In a minute, I will give the two team captains the same list of ten different Pokémon species. There are several of each species on the list, each with an ID number. You only have to capture one of each type per team. You will have two hours to complete this task. The team that captures all ten species first, or the team that’s furthest along, wins the challenge, and will have a hundred thousand dollars added to each team member’s personal jackpot. As Professor Oak hands over the list to Ash and Gary, some of the team members jump up in excitement. Tenchi: (CC) Right now, I’m imagining what I’d do with that hundred thousand. Izzy: (CC) Imagine the upgrade I could give my computer if I had that kind of money! Ash: (VO) Basically, this is just a big Pokémon round up. Whoever recalls the most Pokémon wins. And I’m going to make sure that my team wins! The two teams are bunched together by the starting line. For the challenge, each team has been given twenty-five empty Pokéballs. Some of them belong to the loose Pokémon, while the others are empty ones, which need to be used to capture the wild Pokémon. Oak: You have two hours! The challenge begins now! Good luck to you all. Several members of both teams reach for a single Pokéball each, as they run off in different directions. Ash and Richie head off for the pond, where they are attempting to locate a Starmie. Richie: What are the ID numbers that we’re looking for? Ash: (reading from the paper) Let’s see... 02054, 05692, and 17007. Upon reaching the pond, they see six different Starmie in the vicinity. Richie: How are we supposed to tell the difference? Ash: I guess we try recalling them with our Pokéballs until we find the right one. Richie: (pulling his Pokéball out) Well, we’d better get started! Meanwhile, Tai has wandered off near the bug preserve, where tons of bug type Pokémon reside. Tai: Let’s see. If I remember correctly, I’m looking for a Metapod. Whatever that is. Man, I knew I should’ve been paying attention yesterday. Tai unknowingly walks right by a pair of sleeping Metapod. Elsewhere, Matt and Tori are searching for a Fearow. They spot one near the bird sanctuary. Matt: Isn’t that a Fearow? Tori: It sure looks like one to me. All of a sudden, the Fearow spots them. The bird Pokémon dives straight at the duo. Matt and Tori drop to their knees to avoid Fearow, who misses their heads by inches. Matt: What do you suggest we do now? Tori: (pulling out a Pokéball) Let’s take that Fearow out. Oak: (VO) When Roomies returns... Scene of Tai and Li attempting to get to the same Tauros. Tai and Li: (simultaneously) Tauros, return! Oak: (VO) As the challenge continues, it becomes obvious that not everyone is trying their best to win... Gary: (VO) Am I the only person on this team who’s serious about winning? Izzy: (CC) This challenge is worth a hundred grand for each of us, and a few members of the team aren’t taking it serious enough! Oak: (VO) Are some of the roomies quitters? Or do they just think that this whole challenge is a waste of time? Cody: They won’t listen to me, so what’s the use of trying to catch them? Ken: Cody... if we don’t, then how do we expect to win? Tracey: (talking with Professor Oak) They certainly don’t teach you this stuff, do they? Oak: They sure don’t, Tracey. Oak: (VO) That‘s all when Roomies returns after this short break... * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Half an hour into the first physical challenge, the red team holds a three to two lead over the blue team. Of course, none of those points came easy... Flashback twenty minutes into the past, as Ash and Richie go after a Starmie. Ash: (running one way) I got it! Richie: (running the other) I got it! Ash and Richie: Pokéball, go! They both throw their Pokéballs, but instead of one of them catching Starmie, they hit each other. Ash: (sweatdrops) This could take a while. Richie: You can say that again... Switch to a scene of Tai and Li attempting to get the same Tauros. Tai and Li: (simultaneously) Tauros, return! Tai and Li aim their Pokéballs at Tauros. Tauros dodges both of the emitting beams before it decides to charge straight at the two heroes. It’s obvious what happens next... Tai: (running away with the Tauros right behind him) Get out of my way! Li: (just in front of Tai, also running) You get out of my way! Tai: I’m too young to die! Li: We wouldn’t be in this situation if you caught that Tauros from the start. Tai: Hey! Who’s the one who threw the pebble at it? Over at the grass Pokémon field, TK and Davis are both searching for a Bulbasaur. Davis: I’ll bet that I can find that Bulbasaur first! TK: I’m going to find it first. Davis: You want to make a bet out of it? TK: Like you’d beat me anyway. Davis: Oh yeah? Whoever captures a Bulbasaur first gets to keep Kari forever! TK: Now why does Kari have to get involved in this? Davis: She wouldn’t mind. Besides, she knows that I’m much better than you are. Boy, I bet she’s thinking about me right now... TK: Pokéball go! There’s a sudden flash of light. Davis turns and sees a Pokéball on the ground shaking. After a few seconds, it stops. TK goes over and picks the Pokéball up. TK: (smirks) Looks like I win. Davis: You can’t capture a Pokémon behind my back TS! That’s cheating! TK: Not really. You’d probably capture one if you’d stop yapping for once. Davis: Ha ha, very funny TA. TK: (VO) I don’t know why, but I enjoy frustrating Davis. That fetish of his for Kari will be his downfall. Davis: (VO) I’ll show TC who’s the best! I’m capturing the next Pokémon that appears. A Gloom walks out of a nearby bush. Davis’ eyes light up when he sees it. Gloom: Gloom? Davis: That thing’s perfect! (throwing his Pokéball) You’re mine! The Pokéball hits Gloom on the head, opening it. Gloom is sucked inside. Davis celebrates as the Pokéball closes and begins to shake, as Gloom attempts to escape. He picks it up just as it stops shaking. Tracey suddenly appears on the scene, clapping his hands. Tracey: Nice capture Davis! Davis: Ahhhh, it was nothing! Tracey: If we were just capturing Pokémon, then you’d probably win this competition with that Gloom. But we’re not. You’ll have to release that Pokémon. Davis: Why? Tracey: Gloom wasn’t one of the Pokémon on the list. Davis: (beginning to cry) Why? Why is life so unfair?! Oak: (VO) As time continues on, both teams continue their search for the other Pokémon. Izzy, with a Pokéball in hand, walks through the Rock Pokémon preserve, when he spots his target a few feet in front of him. Izzy: That must be the solid spherical two-armed Pokémon that I’m hunting for. Or in simpler terms, a Geodude. The Geodude is sleeping soundly in a small crevice in a crater like rock formation. Izzy: Once I capture this specimen, that should bring our team up to five. That is, if the rest of the team came through with getting a Bulbasaur and a Charmander. That leaves us sixty-four minutes to find the other five species required to accomplish our mission. (smiles) First things first, though... Izzy sneaks up on Geodude and captures it without any trouble at all. Geodude doesn’t even put up a fight as the Pokéball closes over it. Izzy walks back to the laboratory to return the Pokéball and get another one. Upon his arrival at the lab though, he sees Joe, Tenchi, Tori, and Matt all standing around Professor Oak doing nothing. Izzy: What’s up? Are we done already? Joe: No. Matt: We just wanted to take a break. Izzy: How many Pokémon do we have? Tenchi: We have four. Why? Izzy: I bet the other team’s ahead of us. I can’t believe you guys are just standing around. Tori: It wasn’t easy catching that Fearow you know. Matt: I know. Chill Izzy! They’re only up by two. Izzy: Two? Brock: (running in with Tracey) Make that three! Tracey: This is easy, ain’t it Brock? Brock: You said it. The duo deposits another Pokéball into their box before Brock grabs another from Professor Oak. They then take off again in search of another Pokémon. Izzy: Let’s go guys! There’s a lot of money at stake here! Tori: Who died and put you in charge? Matt: We’ll get on it. Izzy throws up his hands in frustration. He mumbles to himself as he grabs another Pokéball and makes his way back into the reserve. Joe: (grabbing a Pokéball himself and running after Izzy) Izzy, wait up! Tenchi: (also grabbing a Pokéball) Izzy’s right you guys. We’d better get back to it. Matt: Go on ahead. We’ll join you in a minute. Tenchi shrugs his shoulders as he runs after Joe and Izzy. Izzy: (CC) This challenge is worth a hundred grand for each of us, and a few members of the team aren’t taking it serious enough! Joe: (CC) I think Izzy overreacted a little bit. Still, he’s right. We can’t just sit around while the other team brings back Pokémon after Pokémon. Matt: (CC) We’ve got this, no problem. Izzy needs to simmer down and relax. Over at the water pond, Cody is desperately trying to capture one of the Starmie. Ken is on the other side, attempting to catch one as well. Cody throws the Pokéball at Starmie. Starmie uses its water gun attack to deflect it. Cody: That’s the tenth time already! Why won’t they just go in the stupid Pokéball?! Ken is having much better luck, as it only takes him two tries to catch a Starmie. Cody is now outraged at Ken’s good fortune, as he stomps angrily away. Ken: Cody! Wait! Cody: What do you want? Ken: I see you’re having a little trouble catching those Pokémon. Cody: (lying) I’m not having any trouble. Ken: I don’t think you’re making a good attempt at catching them. Cody: They won’t listen to me, so what’s the use of trying to catch them? Ken: Cody... if we don’t, then how do we expect to win? Cody: (sighs, now sad rather than angry) I don’t know. I just hope the others are having much better luck than I am. Ken: (VO) I’m feeling sad for Cody. He’s trying his best, but nothing’s going his way. Cody: (CC) When I first came in, I didn’t like this at all. I just wanted to go home. Now I know why. (after a short pause) I’m not any good at this. Ken and Cody converse as they head back to the laboratory. At the laboratory, Gary sees the rest of his team, minus Ken and Cody, waiting for him. Gary: What are you losers doing standing around? Tai: We’re tired of this game. Li: This game is so stupid. Davis: Besides, after TE embarrassed me three times in a row, I’ve decided to quit before he really shows me up. Gary: We’ve only got two Pokémon to go! Li: So why are you here? Gary: I lost my Pokéball over in the grass Pokémon preserve. Davis: What are you doing there? Tracey already captured a Bulbasaur. Gary: I was after the Charmander, but he proved to be more powerful than I thought. Davis: The other team’s way behind anyway. (yawns) We can just take our time now. Brock and Tracey, as well as Ken and Cody, return with a Starmie and a Charmander. Ken: We’ve got the Starmie! Brock: And we’ve got the Charmander! Oak: That makes ten. All I have to do is to make sure you got the right Pokémon before I declare you guys the winners. Ash, TK, Richie, and Izzy all come back with Pokéballs for the red team, when they notice that the blue team is already having theirs checked for accuracy. Ash: Do we have ten? Izzy: (quickly counting the Pokéballs in the box) We only have nine. TK: We don’t have much time... Professor Oak’s already examining the other team’s Pokémon. Oak: (a few seconds later) It’s official! The blue team wins the challenge! The blue team begins to celebrate... all except Gary, who glares angrily at his teammates. Quickly noticing, they stop their celebration. Gary: That was pathetic! We barely pulled that one off! I can’t believe that I chose you seven as my teammates. If you losers were any slower, we would’ve lost! With that, Gary walks off. Tracey heads over to talk with Professor Oak. Oak: (sighs) Sometimes I think my grandson is too arrogant for his own good. Tracey: (talking with Professor Oak) They certainly don’t teach you this stuff, do they? Oak: They sure don’t, Tracey. Never in my years of learning about Pokémon did I have to worry about the attitudes of Pokémon trainers... especially Gary. Gary: (VO) Am I the only person on this team who’s serious about winning? Seriously! Tai: (CC) Gary needs to get off of that high horse of his! We won, and that’s that! Brock: (CC) Gary may have grown up since he started his Pokémon journey, but he still has those times when his old self comes out to haunt everyone. As the rest of the red team comes back with the tenth Pokémon, they find out that the contest is already over. Izzy: (CC) That contest was within our reach! If Matt and Tori would’ve gone out and searched for Pokémon like everyone else, we would have won! Richie: (CC) Right now I’m feeling a little sad because it seems that we didn’t work together as a team. Ash, Izzy, TK, and I were the only ones actually out there doing the work. Joe and Tenchi didn’t do much at all. I’m pretty sure Matt and Tori barely did anything. Ash: (CC) That’s a hundred thousand down the drain thanks to those two. If I’d known they’d do this, I wouldn’t have chosen them. End Episode Two Oak: (VO) Next time on Roomies... Davis: Kari likes me the best! TK: No, she does! Tai: Stop arguing over my little sister! Tracey: Is she cute? Oak: (VO) The Digidestined rivalry turns personal... Davis: Why don’t we just e-mail her and ask her ourselves? Tori: Aren’t you the least bit worried about your sister? Tai: Of course I am! It’s just that there’s no stopping those two once they get in a fight. Oak: (VO) Then, it’s on to the first prize challenge... Ken: (CC) It’s pretty easy. All you have to do is make sure that you make it to the end of the maze without getting caught. Inside the maze, Gary gives chase as Joe runs right past him. Izzy: (into the microphone) Right! Make a right, TK! Tracey: (jumping out in front of the camera) Gotcha! Tenchi: (gasping for air) Am I there yet? Oak: (VO) Who will make it to the end for a chance at the first prize drawing? Once again in the maze, the cameraman chases Davis as he dives on TK, sending them both to the ground. Ash: It’s only a game! Stop taking it so seriously! Oak: (VO) That’s next week on the first of two new episodes of Roomies... Copyright Date: 5/18/01
