Welcome to Episode 6 of the boys’ edition of Roomies! Let’s see... what’s on the agenda today? Oh, I know. Where are all of the votes? I’ve already gotten several votes for who should win on the girls’ side, but there hasn’t been one single vote for any of the boys! It makes me wonder what’s going on? Is it that you guys can’t eliminate down to one or two choices? Or maybe none of you like any of the boys. A little reminder... the voting deadline is coming up soon, so please submit your votes! Don’t forget to review! Disclaimer: None of the characters or their likenesses belong to me. Any resemblance to anyone real or fictional is unintended. * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Last time on Roomies... Davis: If you wanted to know, I was going to ask you if you wanted to form a truce. TK: (turns to Davis, with his eyes wide open in surprise) What? Oak: (VO) After getting a harsh yelling from Kari Kamiya, both TK and Davis decide to put their feelings for her aside temporarily... Ash unlocks the door and pulls it open. Mrs. Ketchum: Hello! Ash: Mom? Oak: (VO) But even more surprising is the fact that Ash’s mom drops by, inviting them to a picnic! Tori: (VO) She kind of reminds me of my mother... Tenchi: (CC) I feel guilty about letting Mrs. Ketchum do all the cooking. But she told me to relax, so that’s what I’m going to do. About an hour later, the whole group is gathered around two long picnic tables, feasting on hot dogs, hamburgers, coleslaw, and soda. There was also some fried shrimp, sushi, a garden salad, and bags of potato chips. Almost anything that the guys could imagine as a food item at a picnic was there. Ash: Wow! This is great! Tori: I’ve never had anything like this! Tai: It’s like I’m tasting food for the first time in years! Mrs. Ketchum: I’m glad that you all are enjoying it. Oak: (VO) But after a relaxing day off, it’s back to business as usual... Izzy: Are you sure there’s no way out of this challenge? Tai: Come on! How hard can it be to sell candy bars? Richie: Obviously, you’ve never met my parents. * * * * * * * * * * Sixteen young guys Four different anime shows Forty-two days living alone in a mansion One lucky soul walks away with up to one million dollars in cash (Begin theme song, showing each of the contestants, two at a time via split screen) Ash, pulling Pikachu away from Pallet Town on a leash Brock, taking care of his siblings Cody, practicing kendo with his grandfather Davis, with Veemon, dreaming about Kari and Gatomon Gary, showing Ash his ten gym badges Izzy, helping Kari and the Asian Digidestined return the Digimon to the Digiworld Joe, digging Gomamon out of the snow Ken, arriving on the soccer field at halftime Li, smiling at Sakura after he gained possession of the Time card Matt, performing with his band at a Christmas Eve concert Richie, running to catch the elevator with Ash and company Tai, hugging Agumon after he had escaped from the Digimon Emperor Tenchi, walking to the bus stop on his way to school TK, thinking about the powers of darkness during their battle with Black WarGreymon Tori, jumping over the fence to save Sakura from Li Tracey, drawing a picture of Pikachu while Ash and Misty look on Some of these guys will become the best of friends Others will develop grudges against those they hate But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes These boys are... roomies! The camera zooms in as he begins to speak. Oak: (VO) When we last left the boys, they were going around town selling door-to-door. In their latest prize challenge, what are they competing for? You’ll find out in a little bit. In the meantime, let’s get back to the action. Which teams can pass the challenge? Let’s find out... [Inset: Team 4] Ash and Brock are on their way to Mrs. Ketchum’s house, hoping to get her to buy a foot warmer or two. After a minute of running, Ash finally catches sight of his house. Ash: There it is! Brock: Maybe your mom will offer us some that delicious food from the picnic yesterday. Their yells of delight change to growls of anger when they see Ash’s mom talking to Gary and Tori. [Inset: Team 1] Mrs. Ketchum: Here you go boys! Three dollars for three pairs of foot warmers! Tori: Thanks Mrs. Ketchum! Mrs. Ketchum: (smiles) Tell Ash I said hi! Gary: (smirks) Don’t worry, I’ll tell him. Ash: (yells) There’s no need for that, Gary! Ash and Brock run onto the front yard. Ash goes up to Gary and starts yelling in his face. Ash: What are you doing at my house? Gary: It’s a free world. No one, not even a loser like you can tell me where to go. Ash: You didn’t answer my question! Gary: What does it look like I’m doing? Ash: You’re using my mom as one of your customers! Gary: So? Is there anything wrong with that? Ash: That’s so low, Gary! Tori: That’s what I told him. Mrs. Ketchum: Are you selling something too, Ash? Brock: Yes, Mrs. Ketchum! We’re selling foot warmers! Would you like to buy some? Mrs. Ketchum: Oh, I’m sorry Brock, but I already bought three pairs from Gary and Tori here. Gary looks at his watch, smirks at Ash, and then begins to walk out of the yard. Tori begins to follow him. Gary: I’d love to stay and chat, but I’ve got a challenge to win. Let’s go Tori. Tori, without hesitation, starts running towards the next house. Ash: I’m going to beat you Gary! No matter what it takes! Gary: (without looking back) I’ll believe it when I see it. Ash: (to himself) That Gary! Brock: Forget him, Ash. We’d be better off moving on. (bows to Mrs. Ketchum) Sorry to bother you, Mrs. Ketchum. Mrs. Ketchum: Oh, it’s no bother at all. It’s just nice to see you two again. Ash: We’ll beat him, mom! You can bet on it! Ash and Brock run out of the front yard and start heading down the street in the opposite direction that Gary and Tori went. Mrs. Ketchum: (yelling at Ash) Oh, I almost forgot! Remember to change your you-know-what! Ash: (sweatdrops) Mom! [Inset: Team 8] Izzy and Davis are walking down a small street. Both of them seem to be really happy. Izzy: I can’t believe how good you are at this, Davis. We only need to sell two more boxes and we’re done! (looks at his watch) And we’ve still got an hour or so to spare! Davis: (rubbing his hands together) I just can’t wait to find out what that prize is! I hope it’s something cool! Izzy: (CC) I’m amazed. For once, Davis actually seems focused on completing the task at hand! Usually, that only happens when we go up against a really bad Digimon. [Inset: Team 5] On the other hand, Matt and Tracey look very disappointed as they make their way down a hill and onto another street. Matt: I can’t believe we haven’t sold one candy bar! Tracey: I find it weird that nobody in this town likes sweets. Matt: It would help if you weren’t eating up all of our profits! Tracey: They’re samples, remember? We’re not physically giving them candy bars now. Matt: At the rate you’re eating, we won’t have any samples to show! Tracey: (CC) Matt needs to relax. We’ve still got time. Besides, these chocolate bars are so good! Matt: (CC) For someone who says he watches Pokémon for a living, Tracey better start watching his weight. I think that’ll be a disadvantage to the team that picks him in a challenge. I definitely don’t want to be on his team if that happens. [Inset: Team 6] TK and Tenchi smile as they come out of a house owned by a middle aged couple. The couple waves them goodbye as the duo begins running back excitedly towards Professor Oak’s laboratory. TK: Man Tenchi, you are one sweet talker! Tenchi: I’m a little surprised myself. TK: Surprised nothing! You got them to buy seven hundred and fifty dollars worth! Tenchi: Let’s get back to the lab so we can celebrate! TK: Tenchi, you’re the man! [Inset: Team 2] Cody pockets two dollars and fifty cents as he walks away from another house. Ken walks towards him from across the street, with another two dollars and fifty cents in hand. Cody: Finally got one too, huh? Ken: Yeah. Cody: That brings us up to five dollars. (sighs) And we still have twenty dollars to go. Ken: How much time do we have left? Cody: Just over an hour. We’d better keep moving. [Inset: Team 7] Tai: So what’s our sales record so far? Richie: We’re one for six. Tai: In other words, we’ve only sold a dollar worth of candy when in fact we need to sell twenty dollars worth? Richie: Yep. Tai: Why is this so hard? Richie: I thought you said selling candy bars wasn’t going to be hard. Tai: Forget what I said! This is what I’m saying now! Candy bars are hard to sell. Richie: We’d better keep going. Maybe we’ll get some luck going down the next street. [Inset: Team 3] Li, using a knife, is cutting the peel of off an orange that one of their customers gave them. Li: I don’t believe it! It’s working! A few feet away, Joe is checking the sales forms and trying to see how much farther they have to go. He is unaware of what Li is doing, so he responds... Joe: Is this really a good time to practice your lines for your new season? Li: What are you talking about? I finally figured out how to use this peeling knife. Joe: That’s nice. (talking to himself) Let’s see, that’s fifty-one plus twenty-four, divided by two, and carry the four... Li throws the peel in a nearby garbage can. He then uses his hands to split the unpeeled orange in half. He walks over towards Joe with an orange half in each hand. Li: Want some? Joe: (grabbing one of the halves from Li) Thanks. Li: Just how much more do we have to sell? Joe: (takes a bite out of his orange) We’re about halfway there. If my calculations are correct, we’ve sold two hundred and twenty-six dollars worth of knives so far. Li: (doing likewise) Well, why are we sitting around here doing nothing? Let’s get selling! Joe: Right. With the other teams roaming around town already, the number of possible customers dwindles with each passing minute. We have to sell while we still have the chance. Li and Joe quickly finish their orange halves before taking off towards the next street. They don’t wipe their hands or the knife that Li used to cut the orange. It seems to slip their mind as they continue on their sales spree. Oak: (VO) When we return... TK and Tenchi give each other a high five. Oak: (VO) Which teams will pass the challenge? Ken: Run for it! Tracey: We’re not going to make it! Oak: (VO) And then, see what happens in the next physical challenge... Ash: Go for it! Davis’s go kart slides wide outside in the turn, sending it into a wall of tires. Tai: Davis! Davis! Oak: (VO) When Roomies returns... * * * * * * * * * * [Inset: Team 6] TK and Tenchi return to Professor Oak’s laboratory with an hour still left in the challenge. Oak: I see you two are finished already! TK: (leading the way up the stairs) You bet we are! Tenchi: We managed to sell it all with just one customer. Oak: Really? What were you selling? TK reaches Professor Oak first. He has to wait for Tenchi, who is holding the suitcase full of knives. Tenchi: We ended up with the knives. Oak: You mean you sold five hundred dollars worth of knives with one customer? TK: Actually, it was a little bit more than that. Tenchi: Seven hundred and fifty dollars worth, to be exact. Oak: (surprised) Amazing! You guys are true salesmen. TK: Tenchi should get all of the credit. He was the one who did the presentation. Tenchi: You were there too, TK. TK: Don’t be so modest. If this were one of those every man for himself challenges, you would have won easily. Oak: Glad to see you two are happy. Because... Professor Oak reaches into his lab coat and pulls out twenty-five ten-dollar bills from it. TK and Tenchi’s eyes open in surprise. Oak: It must be a coincidence that you sold two hundred and fifty dollars more than expected because that’s exactly how much you’re competing for in cash. TK and Tenchi give each other a high five. Tenchi: (CC) Wow! It’s like we’re getting compensated for our work! TK: (CC) All of my friends are going to be jealous after this. Either Tenchi or I is going to get two hundred and fifty dollars for working only for an hour! Tenchi: (CC) If there was a way I could do something like this for a summer job, then I’m all for it! As time continues to pass, the remaining teams try to complete their own goals. It eventually gets down to the final fifteen minutes. Let’s check up on some of the teams... [Inset: Team 3] Li and Joe step out of another house. Li runs over to the next house, while Joe looks on dejectedly. Li: (knocks on the door) Come on! Is anybody there? Joe: There’s no need to panic Li! We’ve got fifteen minutes! We only need to sell fifteen dollars more! Li ignores Joe and keeps knocking. After a few seconds, though, he gives up. He starts walking back to the sidewalk. He kicks a small pebble that happens to be in his way. Li: (trying to speak silently) If only I would have gotten that peeler to work earlier... Joe: (hearing Li) Are you still kicking yourself about that? Don’t worry about it! All we have to do is do one more quick demonstration and then make it back to the lab. It’s no big deal. Li: (with a determined look on his face) Let’s go sell that peeler! Joe: That’s the spirit! [Inset: Team 4] Ash and Brock are running from door to door, trying to get someone to open their door. Ash: (knocking on a door) Come on! Please open up! Brock: (on the opposite side of the street) It’s for a good cause! We promise! Ash: (knocking on another) I’ll give you a cookie! Brock: (at yet another door) I’ll get your annoying daughter off your hands for a night! Ash and Brock meet at the center of the street, dejected. Brock: We’re running out of time! Ash: We’ve got to find someone to buy seven pairs of foot warmers! Brock: Maybe I should put another pair on. The pair I’ve been wearing for the last two hours is starting to itch. Ash: I think we’ve got more important things to worry about than that. Back at the laboratory, Professor Oak watches the clock as time runs down. With only five minutes and counting to go, the other teams begin making their way back. [Inset: Team 2] Ken is about to knock on another door when he spots Cody coming out of a house across the street. Cody: I got it! I sold the last box! Ken: Run for it! We’ve got to make it back to the house in less than five minutes! [Inset: Team 8] Davis and Izzy are already on their way back to the laboratory. The lab finally comes into view. They see TK and Tenchi waiting for them as they make their way up the stairs. Davis: TK! TK: Good job, guys! Tenchi: How did it go? Izzy: Pretty well, actually. Davis here is a selling machine! TK: (laughs) You should see Tenchi. We only had to go to one customer and we were done. Davis: (his jaws drop in surprise) No way! As TK, Tenchi, and Davis continue to talk, Izzy makes his way over to Professor Oak. Izzy: Professor Oak, I have a question. Oak: Yes? What is it? Izzy: I still want to know what the purpose is in all of this! Oak: Well, I was going to wait until everyone got back to reveal the prize, but since I told TK and Tenchi already... Professor Oak reaches into his lab coat and pulls out the same amount of money he had shown TK and Tenchi. Izzy: No way! How much is that? Oak: Two hundred and fifty dollars. Izzy gasps in surprise. Oak: It’s worth it now, isn’t it? Professor Oak, TK, Tenchi, Davis, and Izzy are soon joined by Cody, Ken, Joe, and Li, who have all completed their tasks. Joe: You did it, Li! Li: I finally sold that peeler, as well as a few others to spare! Ken: And we managed to sell enough boxes of chocolate chip cookies! Cody: For once, I can say that I was on the winning team. As the eight boys continue to congratulate each other, Professor Oak announces that there’s only one minute left in the challenge. Suddenly, Gary and Tori come into view. [Inset: Team 1] Gary: We did it! Tori: It’s about time. The duo makes their way up the stairs and joins the others. Only three teams are still out there as time expires. Just as Professor Oak announces that, Matt and Tracey appear from a side street. They are both running as fast as they can, unaware that they are already too late. [Inset: Team 5] Tracey: We’re not going to make it! Matt: We can make it! You’ve just got to believe! Matt and Tracey make their way up the stairs to greet the others. It is then that they find out the horrible truth. Oak: Sorry boys, but the time limit passed about a minute ago. Matt: Rats! Tracey: And we were so close too! A few minutes later, Ash, Brock, Tai, and Richie all make their way back. They’re all disappointed that they didn’t accomplish their goal. Ash: (VO) I’m still a little sore at Gary for getting to my mom before we did. That was so unfair. Tai: (CC) That was the worst two hours of my life! I want those two hours back! Richie: (CC) I’m just hoping that the prize isn’t that great. With all sixteen boys gathered in Professor Oak’s living room, the professor returns after looking over their order forms to confirm their sales. Oak: Congratulations to all of you for participating! Five teams succeeded in competing in the challenge, so those ten boys will get their names put in the drawing for a special prize. Some of you already know what I am talking about, but for those of you who don’t... Once again reaching into his lab coat, he pulls out the aforementioned two hundred and fifty dollars. The boys react happily or sadly, depending on their result. Oak: I have here two hundred and fifty dollars. Those ten boys who completed the challenge will get a shot at winning this money in a few weeks. For two hours of work, I’d say that’s a pretty hefty reward. Cody: (CC) Boy, would I love to have that money for myself! Davis: (CC) I could certainly use that money for a few personal things. Maybe even something for Kari. After she’s cooled down, that is. Oak: (VO) When we return to Roomies... Ash: Go for it! Davis’s go kart slides wide outside in the turn, sending it into a wall of tires. Tai: Davis! Davis! Davis: (being helped out by Professor Oak) I’m fine! Don’t worry about me! Oak: (VO) Hang on for the ride of your life, when we return... * * * * * * * * * * Day Ten While the other boys are around and about the mansion, Tori is sitting in the living room. He goes over to the videophone and begins dialing a phone number. Upon reading the number, the words “Voice only” appear on the screen. At the same time, Tori begins to hear the phone ringing on the other side of the line. After a few rings, a man answers the phone. Man: Hello? Tori: Hi dad. It’s me, Tori. Mr. Avalon: Tori! How have you been? Tori: Okay. I just called to check on you. Mr. Avalon: Oh, I’m fine. But it is rather quiet around here without you or Sakura. Tori: Speaking of which, how is the squirt? Mr. Avalon: She actually called me last night. She said she’s having a lot of fun. Tori: She didn’t mention having any problems getting along with the others, did she? Mr. Avalon: No. Why? Tori: No particular reason. Mr. Avalon: How about you? How are things over there in Pallet Town? Tori: Other than a few minor incidents, everything has been rather quiet. Mr. Avalon: That’s good. How have you been faring so far? Tori: Pretty well. I have the advantage of being a lot older than most of my roommates. Mr. Avalon: I hope you’re doing well. Oh my gosh, look at the time. I have a lecture to give today, so I’d better get going. Tori: Okay dad. I’ll talk to your later. Mr. Avalon: You too, Tori. Goodbye. Tori: Bye. Mr. Avalon hangs up. Tori hangs up the receiver, then grabs it once again to dial a number. Once again, the “Voice Only” sign appears on the screen. After a few rings, someone picks up on the other end. Voice: Hello? Tori: Julian? It’s me, Tori. Julian: Oh, hello! Long time no see! Tori: I’m in Pallet Town, remember? Julian: Oh yes, that’s right. For that reality show, right? Tori: I’m not really at liberty to talk about details right now. Julian: That’s okay. We can talk about other things. Tori: I just wanted to see how you’re doing. Julian: I’m fine. Although I have to admit that it has been a little hot this week. Tori: That’s too bad. It’s so cool out here in the country. Julian: In the country? Tori: Yeah. It’s weird growing up in a suburb of a big city and then having to come here to this small town in the middle of nowhere and reside here for six weeks. Julian: At least you don’t have to worry about schoolwork. Tori: True, but it doesn’t feel any better here. It’s like I went back to junior high! There’s only one other guy my age here. Everyone else is about four or five years younger than me. In fact, I think one of them is only eight! Julian: Really? Tori: Yeah. (looks at his watch) Oh great, it’s almost eleven. Look Julian, it’s my turn to cook lunch, so I’ve got to go. Julian: Okay then, I’ll let you go. Bye! Tori: Bye. They both hang up the phone. Tori then gets up out of his seat and then heads for the kitchen. Day Eleven The sun has just risen over Pallet Town. Most of the boys are still asleep, with the exception of Tenchi and Cody, who are fixing breakfast. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Cody runs out of the kitchen and to the front door to answer it. Professor Oak is standing there with a manila envelope in his hands. Oak: Oh, good morning Cody! Cody: Professor Oak! What brings you up here at seven o‘clock in the morning? Oak: (handing the envelope to Cody) A road trip. There will be two vans here to pick you up at nine o’clock. Make sure everyone’s ready. Cody: I will. Thanks! Professor Oak leaves to head back to the laboratory while Cody goes back in to start waking up everybody. Forty-five minutes later, everyone is in the first floor recreation room eating their breakfast. Cody pulls out a tape from the envelope and puts it into the VHS. Matt: (sitting down on the couch) Could someone please pass the syrup? Tenchi, who was closest to the syrup pitcher, gives it to Izzy, who then passes it to Li, then Ken, and then Tai. As Tai tries to pass it to Matt, he accidentally drops the pitcher. It falls onto Matt’s lap and all of its contents pour onto it. To make matters worse, the syrup was very hot. Matt: (jumping out of his seat) OW! That’s hot! Tai! Tai: Matt! Man, I am so sorry! Matt: Why don’t you watch where you’re passing? Tai: I’m sorry! Really! Li: Will you stop your whining already! The tape’s starting! Joe hands Tai some napkins, as the two go to work to wipe the sticky syrup off of Matt’s pants. Meanwhile, Officer Jenny appears on the TV screen, causing Brock to get that all too familiar look in his eyes. Jenny: Good morning boys! I’m Officer Jenny, the law enforcement chief in Viridian City. Today, you’ll get to experience one element of police work that I’m not too fond of, but some of you might be. And you won’t even have to get a driver’s license to do it. In other words, get ready to feel the need for speed! The videotape then ends abruptly. Brock: (dreamily) Officer Jenny. She and I were destined to meet again! Ash: But Brock, I don’t ever remember you meeting the Jenny in Viridian City. Brock: What are you talking about? I talked with her on the way here. Gary: Someone should really get this guy a girl. Tenchi! How about giving him one of yours? Tenchi: Me? Brock: (runs over to Tenchi and starts bowing in front of him) Please Tenchi! I’ll do anything to go out with one of those lovely ladies that you live with. The space pirate, the princess, heck, even that ditzy police officer! Just let me spend one night with them! Tenchi: It doesn’t work like that! They’re just not going to go along with something like that! Brock: You can convince them, right? I mean, you’re with them every waking moment of the day. Tenchi: What? Tori: Brock, can we talk about this later? We have a challenge to get to. Cody pulls out a piece of paper from the envelope. He reads the instructions aloud to the others. Cody: For your third physical challenge, you will be heading off to nearby Viridian City. Because of the long trip, you will be spending the night in town, so please bring extra clothes and any other needed materials. For this challenge, the team captains will be Brock (brown team) and Tracey (green team). Follow all of the same procedures as the previous challenges. Meet outside of the mansion at nine a.m. to catch the vans to Viridian City. Tracey: (CC) Finally! I’m a team captain! I’ll get a chance to show everyone what I’m made of! Brock: (CC) Winning this challenge is just what I need to prove to Tenchi and everyone else that I deserve a girl of my own! [The team assignments (picked in random order): Brown - Brock, Matt, Davis, Tenchi, Li, Tai, Ken, and Tori Green - Tracey, TK, Cody, Izzy, Gary, Joe, Richie, and Ash] By nine o’clock, all of the boys were outside. The brown team piled into one van while the green team into the other. The vans then began their three-hour trip to Viridian City. Three hours later, they pull up to the entrance to Viridian City, where Officer Jenny is waiting for them on her motorbike. She escorts to the west end of the city. From there, it’s a brief trip on Route 24 before they finally arrive at a racetrack about a mile outside the city. Davis: You mean we’re racing on that? The teams get out of the vans and follow Officer Jenny out onto the track. There, they spot sixteen go-karts waiting for them at the opposite end of the field. The boys begin to jump up in excitement. Richie and Davis, without warning, start running towards the go-karts. The rest of the gang follows them down. Richie: I’ve always wanted to drive a go-kart! Davis: Me too! I heard these are so fun to drive! The others eventually reach them and they begin looking over the karts. Jenny: It’s looks like you guys are enjoying this! Davis: Excuse me Officer Jenny, but when do we get to drive these things? Officer Jenny pulls a set of keys out of her breast pocket. Jenny: How about right now? Davis: That’s fine by me! As Jenny begins passing out keys, Tenchi walks up to her. Tenchi: I don’t mean to be a party pooper, but what exactly is the challenge? Jenny: Oops. In all of the excitement, I must have forgotten. Everyone gathers around Officer Jenny explains the challenge. Jenny: As you’ve all already figured out, we’re racing go-karts today. The challenge involves both teams. We’ll be running in a match race format. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically a one-on-one race for two laps. Whichever team wins the best of eight races wins the challenge and the one hundred thousand-dollar addition to their personal jackpots. But first, I need to teach you all how to drive these things. Professor Oak then walks on to the track, a little embarrassed. Jenny: Professor Oak! I thought you were riding with the boys! Oak: I was, but then I got sidetracked by something I was working on at the lab. And then, I wasn’t exactly sure where the racetrack was, so I had to ask around. Did I miss anything? Jenny: No. I was about to start teaching the guys how to operate a go-kart. Oak: Well then, let’s get started. Jenny: So, who wants to go first? Brock gets over to Jenny before anyone else can move. Brock: I’ll go first. And then after we’re done, we can watch the sunset. Jenny: (nervously) Yeah... sure... After everyone had learned how to drive the karts, they were given time to practice. Around four o’clock, Officer Jenny and Professor Oak called everyone off the track to begin the challenge. Jenny: I hope you’re all accustomed to the go-karts. It’s time to begin. I need the two captains to pick the order in which their teammates will race. I’ll give you five minutes to decide and then we’ll begin the first race. After some discussions, the teams submit their race order. Officer Jenny and Professor Oak make their way to the starting line. The first two drivers get into their karts. Jenny: According to Professor Oak, the brown team will start the first race on the inside line. The teams will alternate the inside position at the start of each round. [First Round - Brock (Brown) vs. Richie (Green)] Brock: I’m winning this one for you, Officer Jenny! Jenny: (rolls her eyes) Oh brother... Richie: (VO) I feel confident about this! I think I’ll win! Professor Oak hands Officer Jenny the green flag. She takes it and then walks in between the two karts. Standing in the middle of the starting line, Brock and Richie rev their engines as they prepare to go. The two teams cheer on their drivers from the sidelines. Matt: Let’s go Brock! Ash: Go for it! You can do it, Richie! Jenny: Ready? Set? (waves the flag) Go! Brock was so busy watching Officer Jenny that he did not react as fast, and thus Richie jumps out in front. Richie comfortably guides his kart around the small quarter mile track. Brock is a much faster driver than Richie is, but because of his slow start, the distance between the two drivers is insurmountable. Richie crosses the finish line first. The green team celebrates their first victory. Richie pumps his fist in the air as he pulls his kart to a stop. Brock stops his right next to Richie, and gets out with a disappointed look on his face. Izzy: Prodigious! Richie won! Ash: I knew he could do it! Brock: (crying) How could I lose to Richie? Tori: (rolling his eyes) Oh brother... Matt: He’ll never get a girlfriend at this rate. [Second Round - TK (Green) vs. Davis (Brown)] TK: Don’t you find it weird that we’re in the same heat? Davis: Seriously. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you! TK: Well, let’s get going. The two get into their karts. Moments later, they are at the starting line awaiting the green flag. Jenny waves it and the two drivers take off. Their driving skills are just about equal, but TK has the advantage of the inside lane. The two teams watch as TK leads the first lap. Just as Jenny shows the white flag, Davis moves to the outside. He tries to beat TK to the first turn. Davis: Out of my way! I’m going to tear up the racetrack! The two go karts go in side by side. Davis’s go kart slides wide outside in the turn, sending it into a wall of tires. Tai: Davis! Davis! Professor Oak, Tai, and Ken all run over to help Davis out of the go-kart. In the meantime, TK wins the race. But he too is concerned about his friend. After bringing his kart to a stop, he goes over to help. He breathes a sigh of relief when he sees Professor Oak pulling Davis out. Davis: I’m fine! Don’t worry about me! Tai: Are you okay, Davis? Ken: That looked like a nasty crash! Davis: It’s nothing that a day’s rest won’t cure. Oak: I’d better get you checked out, just in case. TK: Davis! I’m sorry for knocking you out! Davis: What do you mean knocking me out? You didn’t hit me! TK: It felt like it to me. Jenny: (walking up to the group) No, Davis just went into the corner a little too fast and he lost control. Davis: Do you think I’d personally sabotage myself and my team to make you look bad? TK: Not really. I don’t think you’re capable of something like that. Ken: Let’s not get into another fight, guys. Let’s just move on, okay? Officer Jenny runs back to her motorcycle to call for a doctor while Professor Oak lays Davis on the infield of the track. He urges everyone to give Davis some room. Davis: I’m fine! Really, I am! Oak: I’d rather be safe than sorry, Davis. Both teams watch Davis closely as they wait for medical help to arrive. End Episode Six Oak: (VO) In our next episode...
