We’ve finally reached the halfway point of Roomies! Yippee! For the second time since the beginning of the show, both editions are intertwined this week. As usual, please read the girls’ edition before the boys’ edition. I’m also taking next week off to work on my repost of my Pokémon fanfic, “Adventures Series,” as well as adding new chapters to my Digimon fanfic, “Courting Miss Mimi.” “Roomies” will resume July 24th. That’s all for now! If you still want to vote or if you want to change your vote, please reread the rules below. Voting Rules Reminders: 1. You can vote for up to four boys/girls at once. 2. You can vote more than once, but remember that only your most recent vote will count towards the final tally. 3. Please keep votes for each of the two editions separate from each other. 4. All votes must be received by July 25th, 2001. No late votes will be accepted! Disclaimer: None of the characters belong to me, okay? * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) On the last episode... Jenny: This is private property! I order you to leave immediately or I will place you under arrest for trespassing! Jessie: Who’s going to stop us? You? James: I’m not afraid of a police officer! Oak: (VO) What’s Team Rocket doing here? Wait... they wouldn’t! Would they? James: They rejected our applications! We didn’t even get to attend tryouts! Meowth: We saw this as our one and only chance to rise to the status of a superstar! Jessie: But then we had our dreams shot down! James: We’re out for revenge! Jessie: Now that we know the location where the show is being taped, the press will pay a fortune just to find out about it! Brock: You’re not going to get away with this! James: Just try and stop us! A few hours later, Officer Jenny and a few other policemen escort Team Rocket, all in handcuffs, into a police wagon. The two groups exchange some choice words before the back door is finally closed. Jenny salutes Professor Oak and the others before getting on her motorcycle and following the wagon back to Viridian City. Oak: (VO) Anyway, back to business. Who started the Davis/Nurse Joy rumor in the first place? Tai: (sighs) It was me. Oak: Hold on... did you say you did? Tai: Yes. But it wasn’t really a prank. I really did think Nurse Joy and Davis had something going on. Oak: If you thought so, then how about telling me what brought you to that conclusion? Tai: I figured that if you found out about this that way, you’d probably kick me out of the house without hesitation. I like it here, professor, and I enjoy hanging out with all my friends. Not just the ones I knew beforehand, but the new ones I’ve made since coming here as well. By coming forward now and admitting that this never was supposed to be a prank, I hope that it would cushion the blow, that’s all. Oak: (VO) And Tai paid the price, regardless of whether his motives were intentional or not... Tai: I was just going on what I thought was right. Better safe than sorry, right? Joy: Don’t try to flatter me, because it won’t work. Tai: I’m not trying to flatter you! Honest! I already have a girlfriend! Joy: Nevertheless, you’re going to make up for all of the grief you put me through. They finally reach the broom closet. Nurse Joy opens it and pulls out a mop and a water cart. She hands the mop to Tai and points down the hall. Joy: You can start by mopping the floor. Tai: Look, I know it’s probably too late to change what happened, but I truly am sorry for everything these past few days. Joy: I know you are. I forgive you. Tai: Does that mean I can go back to Pallet Town? Joy: (stopping and turning towards Tai) Not so fast! I may be forgiving, but I’m not stupid. Get back to mopping the floor! Tai: (sighs) Yes ma’am. Oak: (VO) Meanwhile, back at the mansion, things just got a little more interesting... Chelsea: Look at what you did! She points to her right knee, which is now bleeding after it had brushed against a sharp rock on the ground. Matt: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. Richie: She’s gorgeous! You think she’ll give me her number? Chelsea: (winks) Why don’t we have a little fun while we’re here? Sasami: Good idea. Oak: (VO) Just what more can the boys handle? Stay tuned! Episode 10 starts right now... * * * * * * * * * * Sixteen young guys Four different anime shows Forty-two days living alone in a mansion One lucky soul walks away with up to one million dollars in cash (Begin theme song, showing each of the contestants, two at a time via split screen) Ash, walking away from the racetrack after being yelled at by his teammates Brock, flirting with Nurse Joy at the Viridian City Pokémon Center Cody, trying to figure out how to use a Pokéball Davis, tackling TK in the hedge maze prize challenge Gary, convincing Mrs. Ketchum to buy some foot warmers from him Izzy, thinking about how his team lost the first physical challenge Joe, getting settled in his room just after arriving at that mansion Ken, discussing with Tai his theory about Nurse Joy Li, using his sword to slice down the first door Matt, yelling at Tracey after discovering that he was eating all the candy samples Richie, recalling his days at the Pokémon League Tai, leading the boys through the Digiworld Tenchi, talking with Ken about being a bachelor TK, forming a truce with Davis after Kari had yelled at them Tori, drinking a cup of cocoa as Ash and TK run towards him Tracey, assuring his team that he’d even the score in the go-kart physical challenge Some of these guys will become the best of friends Others will develop grudges against those they hate But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes These boys are... roomies! They are watching TV while they talk about what’s been going on in the house lately. Gary: I can’t believe those guys would get so attached to those two girls. Brock: They’re not even that attractive. Gary: They’d better not try anything funny. They’re not old enough anyway. Brock: Oh, and I suppose you did nothing with those cheerleaders of yours. Gary: (stepping back) They were my moral support group! Nothing else! Brock: (nudging Gary in the chest with his elbow) Oh, you can tell me. I won’t tell a soul. Gary walks away without a word. Brock chases after him. Brock: Gym leader’s honor, I swear it! I won’t tell anyone! Please! Meanwhile, Izzy and Sasami were talking in the dining room. They seem to be staring at each other, but that’s it. Izzy: So, what you’re telling me is that the Pretty Sammy stuff was just a TV show? Sasami: Yes! How many times do I have to say that? Izzy: I’m sorry. It’s just so hard to believe. Sasami: I thought you were a genius! Wouldn’t you be able to differentiate real from make believe? Izzy: It just seemed so convincing! Sasami: Yeah, I’m sure it did. Izzy: Really! It did! Sasami: You don’t get out much, do you? Izzy: I do. Sasami: I wouldn’t think so, especially with you holding that laptop in your lap. Izzy looks down at his closed laptop, which is indeed on his lap. Izzy: I just don’t want anyone to touch it, that’s all. Sasami: (giggles) You so need a life. Izzy: I do not! Sasami: Seriously! Come on, lighten up! Meanwhile, over in the living room... Richie: And so that’s how I befriended Zippo, my Charmander. Chelsea: Do you have him with you? I’d love to see it! Richie: Professor Oak’s holding him while we’re here. Can’t have Pokémon in the house, you know. Chelsea: I see. Over in the corner, Ash and TK are burning with jealousy. TK: Who does Richie think he is? He thinks he’s all that. Ash: I’m better than he is. I should be the one flirting with Chelsea, not him! Richie: Let me tell you about the time I beat Ash over there at the Pokémon League. Chelsea: (gasps) Wow! You’ve actually competed in the Pokémon League? Richie: Yep. I’m one of the top eight trainers in the world. Chelsea: That’s so amazing! Ash: (CC) If I still had Charizard, I’d kick his butt right now. TK: (CC) I’m sure if Patamon was here, he’d digivolve just to show him a thing or two. Chelsea: Hey! (pointing to Ash and TK) What’s wrong with you two? Why don’t you join us? Ash: (eyes wide open in surprise) Us? TK: (likewise) You mean us? Chelsea: Yeah, you two! What’s the matter? (winks) You’re afraid of little ol’ me? Ash and TK both develop goofy smiles on their faces. They walk over and take seats on opposite sides of her, knocking Richie out of the way in the process. TK: I don’t care if Kari hates me for doing this, ‘cause I’m enjoying every moment! Ash: I’m so glad Misty doesn’t like me. I don’t feel the least bit guilty about flirting! Chelsea: (giggles) You two say the funniest things. Richie: (rolls his eyes) Oh brother. Chelsea: (CC) I can’t wait to tell Misty and Kari about this! Boy, their faces will be so red! Meanwhile, Cody and Joe are watching the action from the doorway. None of them realize that they are there. Cody: I just don’t understand what they see in her. Joe: Oh, you’ll find out in a few years. You’ll be just like them. Cody: You mean drooling over a pretty girl? Get real. That’ll never happen to me. Joe: That’s what I said... until I met Mimi. Cody: Mimi’s different. I know what she’s like. But there’s no way I’ll fall head over heels for a total stranger. Joe: Really? Wait a couple of years and then we’ll see. About an hour passes. We now go up to Li’s bedroom, where he is currently meditating. Tracey, his roommate, is also there, examining the contents of one of his sketchbooks. Tracey: Hey Li! Mind if I ask you a question? Li: (coming out of his trance) What? Tracey: Mind if I ask you a question? Li: You are asking me a question! Now stop bothering me! I’m meditating. Tracey: I see. Do you mind if I sketch you while you’re meditating? Li: Sketch me? I thought you were a Pokémon watcher! Since when you did start drawing people? Tracey: Well, it does get a little boring sometimes, so I decided to start sketching more interesting things. Li grabs the sketchbook from Tracey and starts flipping through it. He comes across the picture of the Officer Jenny from Pinkan Island and smiles. Li: So I see. Do the people you draw have any idea of this? Tracey: Nope. Nobody except me, and usually Ash or Misty, if they find out about it. Li: Hmmmm... All of a sudden, Chelsea appears in their doorway. She is holding TK by the hand. They are both smiling. Chelsea: Hi Li! How are you? Li: Chelsea? Chelsea: TK and I are going to have a little fun, k? Bye now! TK: Huh? Since when? Chelsea: (smirks) Since now. Let’s go! TK: (waves goodbye as Chelsea drags him away) Bye! Li and Tracey look at each other and then back at the now empty doorway. Li: Chelsea’s kidding, right? Tracey: I sure hope she is. (after a brief pause of silence) You want to go see if she is? Li: Yeah. I don’t want anything happening to her. Tracey: (jumping off his bed) Oh. You’ve got a crush on her too, huh? Li: (running out of the room) Shut up. Tracey: (following him out) No, seriously! You do, don’t you? Meanwhile, Ash and Richie were wandering around downstairs. They were trying to find Chelsea, who just minutes ago had walked off with TK. They find Ken and Tenchi by the front door, so they decide to ask them about it. Ash: Have you guys seen TK and Chelsea? Ken: Who? Tenchi: He means the brown haired girl in the school uniform. Richie: Yeah, that’s her. Ken: The last time I saw those two, they went up to his bedroom. Tenchi: They’d better not be doing what I think they’re doing. Ash and Richie look at each other and gasp. Ash: He wouldn’t! Richie: TK’s trying to get her alone! He’s such a player! The two of them head up the stairs. They make their way towards TK’s bedroom. Upon arriving there, though, they find Li and Tracey leaning against a closed door. Richie: What are you two doing here? Tracey: (raising a finger to his mouth) Shhhhhh! Li: (pointing to the door) TK and Chelsea are in there. Ash: He’d better not be making out with my girl! Richie: What do you mean your girl? She’s my girl! Li: Will you two give it a rest? Tracey: Be quiet! I can hear them from inside! The four of them lean against the door. They can clearly hear TK and Chelsea from inside the room. TK: So what do you say? Shall we? Chelsea: I’m not sure. What if someone finds out? TK: Nobody will find out. Besides, I brought protection. Tracey: (quietly to the others) Where did he get ‘protection’ from? Li: (shrugs his shoulders) Beats me. Ash: What’s protection? Richie: (sighs) I’ll tell you later. Chelsea: Are you sure you know what to do? It’s my first time. TK: Don’t worry. I learned a few things from my older brother. Leave everything to me. * * * * * * * * * * The four boys outside the room gasp as they hear Chelsea begin to moan from inside. Chelsea: (moaning) Oooooooohhhhhhh yeah, a little bit lower. That’s right. TK: There you go girl! Take it all off! Chelsea: Hold on a sec. I need to unbutton my blouse. TK: I’ll give you a little inspiration. (after a few seconds) Here, catch! Chelsea: Wow, you’re really muscular! Do you workout? TK: Not really. I do play basketball after school every day to stay in shape, though. Chelsea: I see. Mind if I touch? After a few seconds, more moaning is heard from the room. This time, it’s coming from TK. TK: (moaning) Yeeeeeeesssssss! That hits the spot. Chelsea: (giggles) I’m just pinching you. TK: But it feels so good! Chelsea: You know, let’s just skip the horseplay and get right to the main event. TK: If you say so. Ladies first. Chelsea: (giggles again) You’re such a gentleman. Wanting to get me naked first, huh? TK: That’s just how I like it. Back outside... Tracey: Okay, that’s it. We’ve got to stop this right now. Li: I agree. On three. One, two... Ash: Wait! What if they’re already taken their clothes off? Richie: That’s a chance we’ll have to take. Li: Three! Just as the four of them charge for the door, it opens. TK unfortunately had to be standing in the way as the group made their way in. The five of them all fall to the floor, with their arms and legs are jumbled together. Even more surprising was the fact that both TK and Chelsea were still fully dressed. Li: (quickly working his way out of the pile) Chelsea, are you alright? Chelsea: Of course I am! Tracey: But what about all the noise you two were making? Ash: Yeah! We heard you two making out. TK: What are you talking about? We’re not making out. Richie: You’re not? Chelsea: We’re not. I’m only ten and TK’s only eleven. We’re not stupid enough to get that intimate this early in our lives. TK: Besides, our parents would probably kill us if they found out about it. Ash: But what about all the noise you were making? Li: Yeah. I have to say you were moaning pretty loudly, Chelsea. Chelsea: It’s just acting. I was taking a class in drama last semester. (laughs) You have to admit, that sounded sexy, didn’t it? Tracey: You’re pretty good. I thought you two were actually going to do it. TK: Shows how much you can trust your friends, huh? Chelsea: To think you thought that. Shame on you all. Richie: We’re sorry. Ash: Yeah. I guess we were all a little bit jealous. Li: Not me. I’m not attracted to Chelsea anyway. Tracey: (sarcastically) Yeah right. Just say you love her. Li: I don’t! How many times do I have to say that? Everyone breaks out in laughter. All of a sudden, Sasami and Izzy appear. Izzy is carrying both Sasami and Chelsea’s bags. Izzy: What’s up with all the noise? And what are you all doing in my room? TK: Chelsea and I were just having a little fun. Izzy: Really? Interesting. Sasami: Chelsea! Izzy agreed to let us use his bedroom for tonight! Izzy: (a little surprised) Huh? I don’t remember promising you that? TK: When were you gonna tell me, Izzy? Izzy: I honestly don’t know what they’re talking about! Sasami: Oh, come on! I told you that right after I kissed you on the lips. Ash, Richie, Li, TK, and Tracey: (simultaneously) What? Izzy: I really don’t know what she’s talking about! We never kissed! Sasami: (giggles) Don’t be silly. The two girls grab their bags from Izzy. After setting them down by the beds, they begin to push the boys out. TK: Wait a minute! I haven’t changed into my pajamas yet! Izzy: Yeah! I need to get my book on the extinction of quasars too! Chelsea: Just borrow someone else’s clothes. Sasami: And you’ve got all day tomorrow to read that book. TK and Izzy: But where will we sleep? Chelsea: There’s seven other bedrooms, right? Sasami: I’m sure someone won’t mind sharing with you guys. Chelsea and Sasami: (smiling) Good night! They close the door, leaving the six boys, especially TK and Izzy, to figure out what just happened. Izzy: Can someone explain what just happened? Tracey: Beats me. But I think it’s somewhere along the lines of they’re taking advantage of you. TK: So much for getting their numbers. (turning to the others) Who’s willing to share a room with us for the night? Li: (CC) Pathetic. They got chased out of their room by two girls. At least I would’ve stood up to them. Tracey: Some day you two have got to share your flirtation techniques. Richie: Definitely. (sarcastically) You really had them falling for you. TK and Izzy: Why don’t you two just shut up? Ash: Hey, don’t hate us. We’re not the ones who just got dumped. Li: At least this is one moment I’ll treasure for the rest of our stay. Day Twenty Tori and Tenchi are in the kitchen talking while they are sipping their morning coffee. Tori: Only three more weeks and then I can finally get out of here. Tenchi: Ready to go home already? Tori: I usually wouldn’t say something like that. But after all that’s happened lately... Tenchi: (taking a sip of his coffee) You mean what I told you occurred last night? Tori: I know Chelsea’s parents. She’s a friend of my sister’s. Tenchi: You’re not going to tell them, are you? It would ruin her stay. Tori: I won’t. (taking a sip) They’ll find out anyway. Tenchi: Oh yeah, that’s true. Chelsea: You promise? The two turn towards the doorway, where Chelsea is standing. Chelsea: I don’t want them finding out about this! They might pull me out of the show. I’m not ready to go! Tori: Whoa, wait a minute! Don’t go making me the bad guy. Chelsea goes up to Tori’s side and kneels before him. Chelsea: (begging) Please! Promise you won’t tell! Tori: I promise! I promise! Stop it with the begging already... you’re making me feel guilty. Chelsea: Thank you! You won’t regret this! With that, Chelsea runs off. Tenchi, watching the whole thing, takes another sip of his coffee. Tenchi: Talk about being overdramatic. Tori: (sighs) Sometimes I wonder why I put up with my sister’s friends. Tenchi: Just how many friends does she have? Tori: A lot. I’m just glad that she hasn’t decided to have a sleepover with all of them yet. A little later that morning, outside in the yard... Izzy: I can’t believe she’s leaving already! Joe: Who’s leaving? Izzy: Sasami! I think she’s finally cozying up to me. Joe: She doesn’t seem like it. Izzy: Of course she does! Ask her yourself. Joe: I think I will. She’s coming now anyway. Izzy: (beginning to sweat) She is? Quick, how do I look? Joe: You’re fine! Now stop sweating! Sasami and Chelsea, both carrying their bags, wave hello to the duo as they walk over. Sasami: Hi! Izzy: Hello Sasami. How are you? Sasami: I’m fine. Joe: I heard what you did last night, Chelsea. Chelsea: You did, huh? What do you think? Joe: I think you were a little cruel in making a joke such as the one you did. Chelsea: (throwing her hands up in frustration) Why can’t anyone around here take a joke? Sasami: (sweatdrops) Don’t worry about it Chelsea. Everything will be fine on our trip back home. Joe: So, you’re leaving now? Sasami: Yep. We’re kind of in a rush. Chelsea: Our plane leaves in four hours, but the ride to Viridian City is about three and a half. Sasami: Say, would you two be willing to escort us down to Professor Oak’s lab? Izzy: Sure. Chelsea: Great! Then you two strong men won’t mind carrying our bags. Sasami hands her bags to Izzy, while Chelsea hands hers to Joe. The two struggle to keep up as the girls head out the front gate and down the road to the laboratory. Once there, they find Professor Oak waiting for them, next to his station wagon. He directs Izzy and Joe to put the bags in the trunk. Oak: Okay girls, inside. Sasami: I got shotgun! Chelsea: (snapping her fingers) Rats. I wanted shotgun. As they get in, Professor Oak hands a videotape and a small white envelope to Joe. Joe: What’s this professor? Oak: It’s information on your next physical challenge. Make sure everyone sees it. Joe: Don’t worry, I will. Izzy: (waving goodbye) Bye Sasami! Sasami: (waving back) Goodbye you two! Professor Oak gets into the car. He then starts the engine and begins driving off towards Route 1. As he does though, Joe remembers something. Joe: Wait a minute! I forgot to ask Sasami my question! He runs after the car and starts yelling at the station wagon. Joe: Sasami! Sasami, hearing him through the closed window, rolls it down. Joe: (yelling) Izzy was wondering if you liked him or not. Izzy: (shouting at Joe) Don’t say it that way! Joe: (ignoring Izzy) So? Sasami: (yelling back) What are you talking about? I’ve never liked him. As the car pulls away, Joe stops in his tracks. He looks back and sees Izzy standing several feet behind him, attempting to hold back tears. Joe: Izzy! Are you okay? Izzy: She said she didn’t like me. (yelling loudly) She said she didn’t like me! Joe: (comforting Izzy) Come on Izzy, this isn’t the time to cry! She really didn’t like you. She’s just playing around, just like Chelsea and TK were last night. Izzy: (begin to strangle Joe) Why didn’t you tell me that in the first place? Joe: I honestly thought you knew! Izzy stops shaking his friend. He then sighs. Izzy: So much for true love... Joe: We’d better get back to the mansion. (motioning to the envelope he’s holding) I have a hunch that this has to be taken care of right now. Izzy: What makes you say that? Joe: Don’t you think that he plans to hold the challenge tonight, right after he gets back? Izzy: Good point. Let’s get going. A little bit later, all of the guys are gathered in the first floor recreation room. Izzy inserts the videotape into the VCR before taking a seat with the others. The tape immediately begins to play. Professor Oak appears on the screen, along with a special guest. Oak: Hello there! You know, now that you’ve reached the halfway point, we decided that we should throw you a little party. This woman to my left will share the details with you. The woman appears on the screen. Both Li and Tori recognize her immediately. Tori: Sakura’s teacher? Li: Miss McKenzie? What’s she up to? Layla: Good afternoon boys! I’m personally inviting all of you to Tokyo. We’ve got a special dinner planned out just for you. Oak: And then we’ll be treating you to a night out on the town. I hope you’re all excited! Layla: We’ll see you all tomorrow! Have a safe trip! The videotape then comes to an end. Everyone glances at Joe with scrutiny as he opens the envelope and pulls a lone piece of paper from it. Joe: (reading aloud) Pack your belongings! You’re heading to Tokyo! Have all of your clothes packed by four o’clock for a two day trip. Two vans will pick you up at that time to take you to the Viridian City airport. Details about your next physical challenge will be given to you aboard the plane. For now, we encourage that you pick teams. Tori and Tenchi are the selected team captains for this challenge. Good luck! Izzy: I should’ve figured that we were going somewhere! I noticed that there was another bag in the trunk of his station wagon. Tenchi: But what could be our challenge? Tori: And what does it have to do with Sakura’s teacher? Matt: I guess we’d better get packing. At exactly four o’clock, three vans are now standing in front of the mansion. The boys and their luggage are loaded into the vans before they finally begin the long drive to Viridian City. They don’t arrive there until just before eight o’clock. Once at the airport, the boys carry their luggage down to a private runway, where Professor Oak and a private plane are waiting for them. Davis: (CC) Just what are we doing anyway? This doesn’t feel right one bit. Brock: (CC) I can’t wait to get to Tokyo! I bet there are some pretty ladies just waiting for me to ask me out. Forty-five minutes later, the plane is finally airborne. Once it gets to a comfortable altitude, Professor Oak gets out of his seat and walks to the passenger cabin, where the others are sitting. Oak: How is everyone? Ken: We’re fine professor, thank you. Cody: When are we going to find out about our challenge? Oak: (smiles) I’m glad you asked that. I’m going to tell you right now. Ash: So what is it? Oak: Hold on! First, I need to know who’s on which team. Izzy: Allow me... [The team assignments (picked in random order): White - Tori, Joe, Ken, Matt, Tai, Tracey, Gary, and TK Black - Tenchi, Brock, Davis, Li, Izzy, Cody, Richie, and Ash] Oak: I see. Well, as you know, we’re on our way to Tokyo. Tomorrow night, you’ll be going on a blind date. But it’s not just any blind date. In fact, the teams will be split in half for this special challenge, as each group of four will go on a date with one girl each. A collective gasp can be heard from the group as the professor gives two envelopes to each team captain. Brock: (CC) This has got to be the happiest day of my life! I’ve finally got a date! Tenchi: (CC) Oh brother. I just hope Ryoko and Ayeka aren’t watching this right now. Oak: The girls that you are taking out will themselves decide which team will win this challenge and the one hundred thousand dollar addition to each team member’s personal jackpot. You have no idea what you’re looking for or attempting to do on this blind date, but there are certain factors that will help those young girls in determining who wins. Each of the small envelopes contains sixteen pictures, one of each of the girls from the Reedington mansion. That’s right... you’re going on a blind date with the participants of the girls’ edition of the show. The boys rejoice with glee, now that they have the opportunity to go on a date with the girls they love. TK: (CC) I hope Kari’s forgiven me for what happened two weeks ago. I’m excited about the chance to take her out. It’s too bad that I have to share the moment with three other guys. Ken: (CC) This’ll be interesting. I wonder if Yolei still has a crush on me. Tenchi: (CC) The girls are going to be jealous after this stunt and I know it. The plane continues to make its way towards Tokyo as the moon begins to rise into the sky. * * * * * * * * * * Night Twenty The airplane touches down in Tokyo around ten thirty. There’s a shot of the boys getting off the plane and heading to the terminal. A few minutes later, they emerge from the airport and pile into three waiting vans. There, they are taken to a nearby hotel where they will spend the night. The two teams are then split in half. Each group of four gets their own room to share, where they will have the opportunity to discuss their strategy for the upcoming challenge. Let’s peek in on one group in particular... Tori, Joe, Tai, and Matt. Tori: I doubt they are any girls my age, so I’ll leave it up to you three to decide. Joe: I say Mimi. Matt: Well, I say Sora. Tai, you agree with me, right? Tai: I don’t know. Matt: What do you mean you don’t know? You two used to be really close! Tai: Yeah, until you moved in on her. Matt: Hey, she came to me. Besides, you two weren’t doing anything anyway. Tai: So? We were waiting until the time was right, that’s all. Matt: (sarcastically) Yeah right. Look Tai, just admit that Sora wasn’t the right girl for you. Tai: And what makes you think she’s right for you? Joe: Can we not fight over something as silly as this? Tori: Seriously. Why don’t we just look at some of the other girls and see what comes up? Joe opens the envelope. He spills its contents onto one of the beds. They each then kneel down by the bed as they start to look over their choices. Tai instantly spots one he likes, so he picks it up and shows it to the others. Tai: Hey, this girl’s cute. He shows them a picture of a brunette wearing a school uniform. A pin resembling a Pokéball is on the girl’s collar. Joe: Who’s that? Tai: The back of the picture says that her name’s Giselle. She’s a Pokémon trainer who currently attends Pokémon Technical, a prep school for trainers that have rich backgrounds. Tori: She’s rich? That might be a good choice. Then again, people of her type are hard to impress. Joe: I guess you’re right. She doesn’t look like the type of person who would enjoy a good time with the likes of us. Matt: Besides, look at that smirk of hers. Maybe it’s just me, but something like that signals to me that she’s untrustworthy. Tai: You think? Tori: (picking up another picture) Who’s this? At seeing the picture, Matt’s face instantly turns blue. Tai: Hey, it’s Davis’s sister, Jun! What’s she doing here, competing for a million dollars? Matt: I don’t care what she’s doing here! Just keep her away from me! Tori: What’s up with him? Tai: Jun sort of has this crush on Matt. Joe: Actually, she did. Tai: Did? Joe: Yeah. My brother Jim told me that there’s this girl that’s stalking him. She looks just like Jun. Of course, I’ve never seen her following him personally, but I’m assuming that he’s right. Matt: Can we just move on already? Tai: Okay, okay. Say, I just thought of something. Tori: What? Tai: You know, we’ve only seen Mimi rarely since she moved to America. She might be more comfortable going out with some guys she knows. Joe: But that technically eliminates the aspect of this being a blind date! Tori: Weren’t you the one suggested that we take her out? Joe: (blushing) Well yes, but I’m just bringing up a point. Matt: As long as there’s no one else interesting, we might as well. Besides, if we take Sora out, who knows what will happen between us three. Tai: I hear you. I don’t think I want to deal with that right now. Tori: Then it’s agreed. We’ll take this Mimi girl out. By the way, what do I need to know about her, since all three of you know her? Tai: Just think of her as your normal teenage girl. You know, likes to shop, flirts a lot, always on the phone. She’s that type of girl. Tori: Oh. Day Twenty-One With two hours to go until the dinner with the girls, an argument has broken out over one of the choices. It seems that two of the factions had chosen the same girl... Mimi. Brock: Why can’t we take her out? Joe: Because we say so. Tori: Why don’t you tell your team that we picked Mimi first? Tenchi: I beg to differ. We were here first, so we should have the right to choose Mimi. Izzy: I can’t believe you’d be so low as to take her away from us. Tai: Hey, stop complaining! There are enough girls to go around. Oak: (getting between the groups) Okay, break it up! There’s only one way to bring an end to this debate. He takes a coin out of his pocket. Oak: Tori, call it in the air. Winners get to take Mimi out for this challenge. Losers have to choose someone else. Tori: (as the coin is flipped into the air) Heads. The coin flips to the air and lands onto the ground with the heads side up. Oak: Heads it is. Tenchi, what was your squad’s second choice? Tenchi: Our second choice was Sora. Oak: Then you’ll take her out then. Matt: (CC) Sora better be careful. Tai and I will both be watching her. An hour later, the boys are piled into two vans, on their way to the Reedington Community Center. The teams are split up into their factions, with one faction of each team in each van. That gave a chance for the opposing teams to talk with each other before the beginning of the challenge. Davis: Isn’t the Reedington district the rich part of Tokyo? Tracey: That’s what everyone wants you to think. I like to think of it as a small suburb of the city. TK: I’m surprised you didn’t decide to go after Kari. Davis: I’m surprised that you didn’t either. TK: I guess we’re still a little bit worried about whether or not she’s still angry at us. Davis: Yep. Cody: I wouldn’t worry about that too much. If I know her, she’s just dying to see you two. Ken: Only thing is the girls have no idea that we’re coming. Aboard the other van... Oak: There’s another aspect of this challenge I neglected to mention before. Don’t worry, though. It won’t count towards the outcome of this challenge. In fact, it will actually decide the outcome of this challenge for the girls. You see, they are having a cooking contest, and you guys will be part of the committee who decides which team wins. Li: You mean their food might not exactly taste good? Oak: Well, possibly. Joe: Oh boy... I’m beginning to feel a little sick... The vans finally pull into the community center. The boys get out and head into the building. Professor Oak leads the way, heading downstairs to the main room. As they enter, they spot Miss McKenzie standing at the door. Yolei and Jun were on the way to another room when they stopped in their tracks. Meilin and Nikki were sitting at a table, also now spotting the group as they entered. Layla: Hello Professor Oak! Oak: Oh, good day Miss McKenzie. Are we ready? Layla: We start serving food in half an hour. Please feel free to take a seat while you and the boys are waiting. Meilin: Li! Yolei: Ken! Jun: Matt! The group turns and sees Meilin, Yolei, and Jun running towards them. They run over to their respective guys. They all react accordingly... Meilin: (hugging Li) Oh Li, I’m so glad to see you again! Li: (his face beginning to turn blue) Meilin, let go! You’re choking me... Yolei: (running up to Ken) It’s been awhile, hasn’t it Ken? Ken: I guess that answers my question. Yolei: What question? Ken: (putting his arm around Yolei’s shoulder) I’ll tell you later. Jun: (running towards Matt) Hi! Matt: (running back down the hall) Get away from me! Jun: (following him) I’ll show you what happens when you dump me for another girl! Everyone in the room sweatdrops as the two disappear deep into the building. Finally, the time limit for the challenge has expired. The two teams begin to bring out their dishes for display. Of course, as the girls come out, they recognize that their friends are here. After spending a few minutes for a short reunion, all of the food is out. Sasami: Tenchi! Tenchi: (going up to Sasami) Hi Sasami! Did you prepare all of this? Sasami: My team and I whipped it up for this contest. Tenchi: It smells good. Sasami: (smiles) Thanks! Hey, where’s my sister and the others? Tenchi: (gulps) You mean they’re here? Sasami: Well, they were earlier. Where did they go? At that very moment, Ryoko, Ayeka, Washu, Mihoshi, and Kiyone all enter the room. Ryoko and Ayeka’s eyes instantly light up when they spot Tenchi. Ryoko: Tenchi! Ayeka: Lord Tenchi! The two run over to him. They each take him by the arm and tug him towards a table, where the others are gathering. Mihoshi: Wow! Tenchi’s finally here! Washu: About time. Kiyone: We worried that you weren’t going to show up. Tenchi: I think it’s more of a surprise that you guys are here. Ayeka: Well, Miss McKenzie asked us to come and help in judging this little cooking contest. I have to admit, this is right up Sasami’s alley. Her team should win without any trouble at all. Ryoko: It’ll be good to finally getting something solid in my body! Tenchi: You mean you guys haven’t eaten yet today? Kiyone: No. It’s just that no one cooks as good as Sasami does. As the group gets comfortable, Miss McKenzie goes up to a podium that’s set up in the room. She begins to speak into the microphone as everyone quiets down. Layla: Good afternoon! I’m glad that all of you could join us today in this very special challenge. These young girls have spent the past four hours preparing a fabulous feast for you. We invite you to try and each every dish, because you will be judging the meal and deciding which team will win the challenge. I hope you all enjoy the meal. Let’s eat. Everyone gets up to form one of two lines on either side of the room, with each line leading to one team’s dishes. Later on, after the group has had some time to eat, another conversation starts up at Tenchi’s table. Ryoko: You know, I’ve been looking at some of the girls over there. I don’t trust them one bit. Tenchi: What do you mean, Ryoko? Sasami: They’re all cool. We’re all good buddies. Ryoko: I don’t know. Some of them look like hussies to me. Ayeka: (pointing at Mimi) Look at that pink haired girl for instance. Look how little she has on! She’s showing her belly button, her skirt is much higher than any one I’ve ever seen, and she’s talking with those boys. Sure enough, Mimi is sitting with Tai, Sora, Matt, Joe, and Izzy. Mihoshi: That girl’s cute. I’d like to know where she gets her hair done. Kiyone: Mihoshi, you know we don’t have any money for that. Besides, you’d look goofy in pink hair. Ryoko: I can imagine it now. People will start mistaking Mihoshi for Washu. Washu: What are you talking about? That’s preposterous! How can you see me and this bumble brain as being one in the same? Mihoshi: Huh? That had better not have been an insult! Sasami: Mimi’s okay. She maybe a ditz sometimes, but I doubt she’s like that. Ayeka: (points to Misty) That girl’s even worse! Just look at her! Sasami: You mean Misty? Ayeka: Those shorts are so short! How can she go around wearing that little and not be a prostitute? Ryoko: Hey, you said it, not me. Sasami: That’s not a nice thing to say Ayeka! Misty may be a little rough around the edges, but she definitely doesn’t go around showing off her body. Tenchi: I agree. She doesn’t look that good anyway. Ryoko: For your sake Tenchi, it better stay that way! The group continues their meal in silence, deciding that they’d be better off if they didn’t continue their conversation. An hour and a half later, everyone has finished their meals. They’ve all voted for which team’s meal they liked more and now Miss McKenzie is about to announce the results. Layla: I’ve tabulated all of the votes. We had twenty-three different voters, with Professor Oak and myself included. But it’s no doubt as to who won this challenge. By a margin of thirteen to eight, with two undecided votes, the winning team is the green team. Sasami’s team applauds the result. Chelsea’s team does the same, knowing that they gave it their all. The entire Tenchi cast also congratulates Sasami on her efforts. Half an hour later, the boys make their way out of the room and back to the vans, where they will head back to the hotel to prepare for the challenge tonight. Ryoko, Ayeka, and the others bid Sasami and Tenchi farewell. Each of them attempt to sneak a goodbye kiss in, but neither of them succeed. Eventually, all of the groups separate and the boys are on their way to the hotel. End Episode Ten Oak: (VO) On the next episode of Roomies, the boys’ edition... Richie: (CC) It’s Chelsea again! I’m so nervous right now that I’m wetting my pants. Chelsea: Hello! Richie: Hi... Tori: Hey! That’s my sister! Sakura: Tori, I’ll be fine! Oak: (VO) The fourth physical challenge gets underway... Tracey: What’s up with her? TK: Beats me. I think Gary might have pissed her off. Brock: (CC) I don’t get it. Why doesn’t Sora like me? I’ve done everything to impress her, but nothing’s working. Oak: (VO) Which team will come out on top? Davis: (sighs) That was the best night out I’ve ever had! Oak: (VO) Meanwhile, Ash begins to suffer from withdrawal... Ash: Pikachu! Where are you? Pikachu! Davis: He’s flipped his lid! Gary: I always said that he was a loser! Tracey: The professor said that unless Ash is around Pikachu and his other Pokémon more often, he’ll go crazy. He’s formed a bond with them over the years and being apart for this long is just tearing them apart. Li: I can’t believe that he’d get so upset about being away from a stupid little rodent... Pikachu: (charging up) Pikachuuuuuuuuu! Li: (faints) Ouch. Oak: (VO) That’s here, on the next episode... Copyright Date: 7/14/01
