Here we go... the second to last episode of Roomies, the boys' edition! Then, it'll be the final physical challenge, which will pit the boys against each other in a simulated Pokémon battle! It also includes a special guest star! To round things up, we'll have the Final Four vote! Who will be chosen to go for the big cash prize of up to one million dollars! Roomies, Episode 19, begins right now... Disclaimer: I do not own anyone. Thank you. * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Last time, on Roomies... Tori: So you're telling me the next train doesn't depart until 3:15? Oak: (VO) Leaving in the middle of the night doesn't help Tori and Tai much... At exactly three o'clock, the train pulls into the station. The four teams grab their bags and start boarding the train. Oak: (VO) Everyone makes the three fifteen except for Ash, Davis, Gary, and Brock... Brock: Why don't we just fly to Goldenrod? Gary: So why go? Ash: Isn't it worth a try? Oak: (VO) The teams arrive in Goldenrod City just in time to do some cross-dressing... Ken: Wow! You look just like Officer Jenny! Tenchi: (gritting his teeth) You two are enjoying this, aren't you? Oak: (VO) At Ecruteak City, Gary and Brock become the next team eliminated... Gary: I figured as much. Brock: So much for getting that last prize. Oak: (VO) While the other teams move on... but to where? Tenchi: Okay, we need to get on a flight to Cianwood City. Ken: Really? I thought it was Olivine City. Tai: So our only hope is that this Old Man Krabby lives near Olivine and not across the sea in Cianwood. Oak: (VO) So, who's heading off to the right destination? The answer is next... * * * * * * * * * * Tai: Sixteen young guys... Tori: From four different anime shows... Cody: Spend forty two days living alone in a mansion... Tracey: With one lucky soul walking away with up to one million dollars in cash. (Begin theme song) Gary: In this game, you've got to trust the right people... Tenchi: Choosing the wrong person could make the difference... Ken: You could lose out on that prize you wanted... Izzy: Or you could lose out on a hundred thousand dollars. (A picture of each of the contestants is shown, in alphabetical order, changing every second. In order, Ash, Brock, Cody, Davis, Gary, Izzy, Joe, Ken, Li, Matt, Richie, Tai, Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Tracey.) Li: Form your friendships wisely... Matt: Getting along is the big key... Brock: Do all of this, my friends... TK: And you could walk home as the big winner... (Show several shots from past episodes, featuring several of the guys achieving victory) Joe: Some of these guys will form long lasting friendships... Davis: Others will develop intense rivalries... Richie: But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. All 16 Guys: (together) We are... Roomies! (Four group shots, each featuring four of the boys, flashes on the screen for about two seconds each) - Group 1 - Li, Gary, Joe, and Izzy - Group 2 - Davis, TK, Matt, and Tai - Group 3 - Brock, Ash, Tenchi, and Richie - Group 4 - Cody, Ken, Tori, and Tracey (End theme song, with a picture of all sixteen contestants in front of the mansion) Ash: The boys' edition finals! * * * * * * * * * * Roomies Story Written by Freedom Fighter * * * * * * * * * * Episode Nineteen - Pokémon Stadium Battle Royale! Day Thirty Nine [Inset: Brown, Black, and Blue] The plane from Ecruteak to Cianwood arrives at Seaside International Airport at 9:20 a.m. The three teams step off the plane and head out of the airport immediately. They call for taxis. Li, being the fastest in the group, is the first to flag one down. Tracey reaches him and puts his stuff in the trunk with Li's before the duo gets into the taxi. As their taxi departs, Tenchi and Ken are already packing their stuff into the trunk of the next taxi. They depart as TK and Izzy try to flag down a taxi for themselves. TK: How are we supposed to sabotage them if they get to the beach first? Izzy: I'm working on that part! Let's just get a taxi and then we'll worry about that! A minute later, the duo gets a taxi of their own and goes after the other two teams. [Inset: Black] Li and Tracey are the first to reach the beach. They start asking people along the shore and the boardwalk if they know who Old Man Shuckle is. Tracey: (stopping a family of four) Excuse me, but do you know where I can find Old Man Shuckle? Father: Sorry son. I've never heard of him. [Inset: Brown] Tenchi and Ken stop a few blocks down the road from Li and Tracey before getting out and beginning their search. [Inset: Blue] TK and Izzy get out of their taxi at about the same place Li and Tracey did. They also begin to question people about the whereabouts of Old Man Shuckle. [Inset: Brown] After about twenty minutes and almost reaching the end of the boardwalk, they run into Chuck, the gym leader of Cianwood City. The only problem is... neither of them are aware of that. Tenchi: Excuse me, sir, but do you know where to find Old Man Shuckle? Chuck: (breaking a rock in half with his bare hands) You're looking for a Shuckle? Ken: (whispering to Tenchi) This guy doesn't look too friendly. Maybe we should just ask someone else. Chuck: If you're hunting for a Shuckle, you'll have to start breaking these rocks. Chuck takes a rock that's as wide as his waistline, raises it over his head, and brings it down quickly, smashing the rock into hundreds of pieces. Tenchi: (gulps) I don't think I'm strong enough to do that. Chuck: Then use a Pokémon who knows Rock Smash! Ken: We don't have any Pokémon. Chuck: No Pokémon? Then why are you hunting for Shuckle? Ken: We're not hunting for Shuckle. We're trying to find a guy named Old Man Shuckle. Chuck is about to pick another giant sized rock, but he puts it back down after hearing the name 'Old Man Shuckle.' Chuck: You're looking for that old coot? Tenchi: Yes we are, sir. Chuck: Did you check his shack? It's all the way at the other end of the beach. Ken: We'll do that. Thanks! Tenchi is about to run off when Ken stops him. Tenchi: What's up? Ken: You want the others to know? We have to find a way to sneak past them! Chuck: If you want, I can help! My Primeape and Poliwrath should be back shortly with the cart which carries all of these pebbles. My cabin's halfway down, so they should be able to sneak you by. Tenchi: Thanks for the help! Shortly thereafter, Chuck’s Primeape and Poliwrath pull up on the scene. Ken and Tenchi lay down inside the cart as the two Pokémon start piling pebbles on top of them. [Inset: Black] A few minutes pass. Li and Tracey are almost at the spot where Chuck is working. A Primeape and a Poliwrath pass by them, pushing a cart full of pebbles. Tracey: I could swear that I saw something moving in that cart. Li: Forget about it. We’ve got more important things to worry about. The two finally reach Chuck, but they also do not know who he is. They ask him where to find Old Man Shuckle. He gives him the same answer as he gave Ken and Tenchi. [Inset: Blue] Eventually, TK and Izzy also reach Chuck and get instructions from him. [Inset: Brown] Ken and Tenchi arrive at Old Man Shuckle’s shack. There happens to be a note on the door. Tenchi: (reading the note) Off on vacation along Route 40. I will return Monday. (to Ken) And it’s signed Old Man Shuckle. Ken: (snaps his fingers) That means we have to go back to Olivine! The duo runs back up to the road. They attempt to flag down a taxi so that they can go back to the airport. [Inset: Green and White] Meanwhile, at Olivine City International Airport, the plane carrying Tori, Tai, Ash, and Davis lands at 9:54 a.m. The two teams dash through the terminal in order to beat the other out. Tori and Tai get out first, catching a taxi out to the Olivine City coast, along Route 40. Ash and Davis follow right behind them. On the road, Tori and Tai’s driver ends up being a bit slow. Tori: Can’t you drive any faster? Tai: We’re in a race here! Driver 1: I don’t drive above the speed limit, fellas. Tai: (yelling) But you’re driving about ten miles per hour below the speed limit! Driver 1: Exactly. I don’t like driving at the limit either, because that’s supposed to be your maximum. Tori: (running his hand down his face) Oh brother… At that point, the taxi carrying Ash and Davis drives past them. Inside that taxi… Davis: Yahoo! We’re ahead of them! Ash: Way to go, driver! Driver 2: Shut up. Davis: Boy, what a party pooper. Driver 2: (yelling) I said shut up! [Inset: White] The taxi carrying Ash and Davis pulls up to Sea Saddle Beach, on Route 40. Ash: Are you sure we're in the right place? Davis: We’d better be. Driver 2: (angrily) You’d better be! Ash and Davis get out. After a minute of searching, they find an old man. Davis: Are you Old Man Shuckle? Old Man Shuckle: Eh? Oh, here. He hands them an envelope. Ash and Davis thank him and run back to the taxi. Davis begins to open the envelope as Tori and Tai arrive on the scene. Ash: (stopping Davis) Don’t open it yet. Wait ‘til we get into the taxi. We don’t want to tip them off. The duo gets into the taxi and instructs their driver to head back to the city. Tori and Tai quickly find Old Man Shuckle and get the envelope from him. They run back to their taxi and start chasing the first taxi with Ash and Davis in it. Davis: (reading the instructions inside) The finish line is located atop the Olivine City Lighthouse. The last team to arrive there will be eliminated. The remaining four teams will win the challenge and be eligible for the prize. [Inset: Brown] Back at Cianwood City, Ken and Tenchi arrive back at Seaside International Airport. Tenchi: (running up to a desk) When’s the first flight to Olivine City? Teller: Let’s see. (does some typing) The next flight departs at 10:18 a.m. from Gate 19. Ken: Are there still seats left? Teller: Yes, there are. Do you want them? Tenchi: Yes, we do! Hurry! [Inset: Black and Blue] Li, Tracey, TK, and Izzy arrive at the airport at the same time. Tenchi and Ken are already off to Gate 19. The foursome goes to the desk and attempts to get tickets on the same plane. They manage to do so, but they have to run to the gate. [Inset: Brown, Black, and Blue] Cianwood Air Flight 10, on route to Olivine from Cianwood, departs at 10:19 a.m. [Inset: White and Green] Ash and Davis get back into Olivine City just after 10:30 a.m. They have the driver pull the taxi up to the entrance of the Lighthouse. They head inside and up the stairs. Ash: (now a good distance ahead of Davis) Hurry up! Davis: (breathing heavily) Don’t have a cow! I’m coming! Meanwhile, the taxi carrying Tori and Tai pulls up to the Lighthouse entrance. The duo gets out and heads inside. [Inset: White – 10:35 a.m.] On the sixth floor, Jasmine, the gym leader of Olivine City, is currently nursing Amphy, the Ampharos who provides the light for the beacon that shines from the Lighthouse. Jasmine: (petting an Ampharos) Don't worry! Everything will be fine. Amphy: Buzz buzz! Ash appears at the staircase. He waits for Davis to arrive before they approach Jasmine. The gym leader steps away from the fallen Pokémon and up to the duo. She shakes hands with each of them and then bows before them. Ash and Davis also bow as Jasmine begins to speak. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number one. Davis: Thanks! Ash: (pointing to Amphy) What’s that? Jasmine: Oh, that’s Amphy. She’s the Ampharos that provides light for the search beacon here in the Lighthouse. Ash: Is she okay? Jasmine: Don’t worry. Professor Oak is retrieving some special medicine for her. She’ll be fine once she takes it. [Inset: Green – 10:37 a.m.] Tori and Tai arrive on the top floor. They shake hands with Jasmine. Jasmine: (bows) Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number two. Tori: (bows) Thank you. Tai: (bows) It’s nice to be here. Tori and Tai then head over to where Ash and Davis are standing. They begin to talk. Tori: So… when do you think the others will get here? Davis: I’d give ‘em an hour or so. Tai: (CC) So much for our plan. [Inset: Brown, Black, and Blue] Ken, Tenchi, Li, Tracey, TK, and Izzy have arrived in Olivine City. They immediately take taxis out to Sea Saddle Beach. Oak: (VO) It has come down to these three teams. One of them will be eliminated at the end of the challenge. Who will it be? * * * * * * * * * * [Inset: Blue] The taxi carrying TK and Izzy arrives at Sea Saddle Beach first. They see Old Man Shuckle busy breaking rocks. Izzy: Excuse me, but are you Old Man Shuckle? Old Man Shuckle hands Izzy an envelope. He thanks him and runs back to the taxi, ripping the envelope open in the process. Izzy: (reading aloud) The finish line is located atop the Olivine City Lighthouse. The last team to arrive there will be eliminated. The remaining four teams will win the challenge and be eligible for the prize. [Inset: Brown and Black] As TK and Izzy head back to the city, the other two taxis arrive. Li and Tracey get out first. Tenchi and Ken are right behind them. Tracey: (watching Old Man Shuckle break rocks) Wow! He’s breaking rocks! That’s pretty amazing for someone his age. Li: Tracey! We can't just sit here and watch him break rocks all day! We’ve got a challenge to finish! (to Old Man Shuckle) Do you have it? Old Man Shuckle hands an envelope to Li. Tenchi: We need one too. Old Man Shuckle gives the envelope to Tenchi. The two teams sprint back to their taxis in an attempt to beat the other back to Olivine City. [Inset: Blue] TK and Izzy arrive at the Olivine City Lighthouse. They decide to wait for the others to arrive. TK: Are you sure about this, Izzy? Izzy: I’m positive. [Inset: Brown and Black] The other teams arrive at the Lighthouse. They wonder why TK and Izzy are waiting for them. Tenchi: What’s up with you two? Izzy: We decided to wait for you. This should be a fair race to the end. Li: (running straight inside) Screw that! Tracey: (running after Li) Wait for me, Li! Ken: (sweatdrops) So much for that! TK: That’s another busted idea down the drain. [Inset: Black – 12:03 p.m.] Li and a very exhausted Tracey arrive on the top floor. Jasmine shakes hands with them and then bows. Li and Tracey also bow back. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number three. Tracey: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Jasmine! Li: (coughs) Haven’t we had enough guys flirt with high profile females in this show? Tracey: (scratches his head) I guess so. I’m not attracted to her anyway. [Inset: Blue and Brown] Professor Oak arrives with the medicine in hand. He runs over to Amphy and administers the fluids to the sick Ampharos. As he does so, Jasmine welcomes another team. [Inset: Brown – 12:04 p.m.] Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number four. Tenchi: Yes! Ken: What a relief! [Inset: Blue – 12:04 p.m.] Right behind them are TK and Izzy. They say their hellos to the Olivine gym leader. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number five. Oak: (getting up and coming up to the duo) As the last team to arrive, you are eliminated from the challenge. TK: Remind me to never try something like that again. Izzy: (smiles) At least I get to keep my laptop! The five teams then convene in for a little relaxation, as well as a tour of the city, courtesy of Jasmine and Professor Oak. At about one o’clock, the group waves goodbye to Jasmine. Professor Oak leads them to the Pokémon Center, where Brock, Cody, Gary, Joe, Matt, and Richie have waited for their arrival. Matt: About time, guys! Richie: How did it go? Ash: Davis and I came in first place! Davis: You should’ve seen us! We held back until the last leg before we blew by everyone! They didn’t know what hit ‘em! The gang shares the details of the challenge as they head to the airport to catch a flight back to Pallet Town. Day Forty The following morning turns out to be pretty quiet for the residents of the Pallet Town mansion. Most of them are still asleep, working off the aftereffects of that very long prize challenge. Matt and Tai are in the kitchen, talking on the videophone with Sora. It’s hard to hear what they’re saying from where the cameraman is standing. Meanwhile, Li is meditating in his room. Li: Let’s see. It seems that Sakura is making quite a name for herself back home. I wonder if she’ll win. Tracey: (waking up from his sleep) What are you talking about, Li? Li: (turning to face Tracey) None of your business! Tracey: (going back to sleep) Fine. I don’t care anyway. A little bit later, Tai is in his room. He is quietly reflecting on what had just happened. Tai: Was Sora serious about that? What does she see in Matt? (pulling out his list of names) That reminds me, I’d better see Ash’s mom tomorrow. She’s the last one on the list. He crumples up the list and throws it towards the wastebasket. He misses the shot. Tai: Why should I even bother? I’m going through all of this for nothing. Tai lies down on his bed and tries to relax for a little bit. Tai: (CC) For my sake, I hope you were kidding. I really hope so, Sora. After lunch, Gary goes out to check the mail. He finds an envelope inside the mailbox. He goes back up to the mansion and gets everyone gathered in the first floor recreation room. He sticks the tape in the VCR and sits down with the others. Oak: With the days winding down, we’ve finally come down to the final physical challenge. And this one’s just for the Pokémon trainer in you! Sharpen up your skills! We’re going to find out how well you work as a team. We’re also going to see how well you know your Pokémon! See you in a little bit! The tape comes to an end. Gary pulls out the contents of the envelope. He reads the instructions aloud. Gary: (reading aloud) Challenge Eight – Splitting into two teams, you will be engaging in a six-on-six Pokémon battle, using pre-selected teams. Using your current knowledge of Pokémon, teams will battle to knock the other team’s monsters out. The team that does so wins the challenge. Meet at Professor Oak’s laboratory at 2 p.m. The team captains for this challenge are Joe and Richie. Good luck. Ash: A simulated Pokémon battle? (jumps up in the air) Yeah! Matt: (sighs) Let's just get this over with. [The team assignments (picked in random order): Red – Joe, Izzy, Gary, Li, Brock, Tori, Cody, and TK Green – Richie, Ash, Tenchi, Davis, Tracey, Matt, Ken, and Tai] The two teams head down to the laboratory. Upon the arrival, they find someone waiting for them besides Professor Oak. It turns out to be a twenty-year old young woman, with reddish blonde hair and blue-gray colored eyes. She is wearing a Star Trek: The Next Generation captain’s uniform. Oak: Hello everyone! I bet you’re all probably wondering who this young lady next to me is. Well… Young Woman: Allow me, professor. My name is Drag Girl Kacee. But you guys can just call me Kacee for short. (smiles) It’s easier to remember. Ash: (excited) Can we get started already? I’m ready to battle! Oak: Very well then. Kacee, will you please retrieve the three trays. While Kacee walks off to find the trays of Pokéballs, Professor Oak explains the challenge further. Oak: As I mentioned before, you have to use a pre-selected team. Here, we’re giving you the choice of three teams. Professor Oak pulls out a chart that lists which Pokémon are on which team. List of Pokémon on Each Tray: - Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, and Butterfree - Meowth, Gloom, Vulpix, Psyduck, Spearow, and Beedrill - Togepi, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Hoothoot, and Ariados Oak: All of these Pokémon are generic, which means they are all at level 50. They will obey you, so you don’t have to worry about them getting out of control. When Kacee returns with the trays, you’ll discover that the trays are not labeled. Therefore, you will not know what team you’ll have until you begin the battle. Kacee returns, struggling to carry all three trays over to the table. Kacee: (beginning to buckle under the pressure) Little help… Ash, Gary, and Tracey run over and each take a tray from Kacee. She wipes the sweat from her forehead as the boys put the trays down on the table, right next to each other. Kacee: Domo. I never thought carrying all of those Pokéballs would be so hard. Oak: Well, I need the two team captains to come up and select a tray. Joe goes up and selects the tray in the middle. Richie selects the tray on the right. The two captains bring the trays to their teams so that they can get the Pokéballs off. Professor Oak pulls out a remote control and pushes the solitary red button on it. All of a sudden, a large hole opens up in the ground. Out of it rises a grass Pokémon battlefield, complete with red and green training podiums and a mini-scoreboard. Ash: Awesome! Brock: Wow! Oak: I knew you’d like it. I just had it installed a few weeks ago. It’s just like a real Pokémon Stadium battlefield, but without all of those noisy fans. (coughs) Anyway, the red team will go to the red podium and the green team to the green podium. (to Kacee) You remember everything I told you, right? Kacee: (nods in agreement) Hai! Oak: Kacee will serve as the referee, which means she has the final word when it comes to legal moves and such. The professor begins to walk off when he remembers something. Oak: Oh… each of the podiums has a built-in computer, so you know which moves your Pokémon has. (waves goodbye) Well, that’s all! Have a good battle! Tracey: (yelling) Aren’t you going to watch us, Professor Oak? Oak: I unfortunately have a lot of work to do. But don’t worry. Kacee is perfectly adequate to fill my position for today. Brock: (beginning to blush) Oh, I agree with you there! Gary: (bopping Brock on the head) Hey, focus! We’re here to win, not to flirt with the referee! Kacee: Now that Professor Oak’s gone, I’m in charge! This is a six-on-six Pokémon battle! No potions or ability enhancers are allowed in this match! You may recall a Pokémon as many times as you want, as long as the Pokémon has not fainted. Every time a Pokémon is recalled or faints on the battlefield, the battling trainer must switch with someone else on their team. The team that loses all six of their Pokémon first loses the match! Gary: Hey! We all know how to battle with Pokémon! Li: Well, I don’t, so shut up! Tenchi: They’re not going to fare well if they keep arguing like that. Ash: Yep. Kacee: Team captains, please select which team member will begin the match. Richie: I select myself to battle. Joe: Gary will be the first to battle for our team. Kacee pulls out a red flag and a green flag out of nowhere and begins to wave them in the air. Kacee: We’re now ready to begin! Trainers, select your first Pokémon! Richie and Gary pick a Pokéball and throw it out onto the field. [Round One: Richie and Vulpix vs. Gary and Ariados] Kacee: Turn order will be determined by each Pokémon’s speed! Let the match begin! Gary: (aiming the Pokéball at Ariados) Ariados, return! Before the battle even starts, Gary recalls his Pokémon. Cody: What did you do that for? Gary: Fire types are strong against bug types. We would have been down one Pokémon already if I kept Ariados in. (tags Izzy) Let’s see what you can do. Izzy: (nervously points at himself) Me? Gary: No, I’m talking to little miss Kacee down there. Yes you idiot, you! [Round Two: Richie and Vulpix vs. Izzy and Togepi] Izzy: (sweatdrops) Togepi, huh? Not exactly what I’d call a choice Pokémon. Kacee: The battle now resumes! Richie: Let’s get this party started! Vulpix, ember! Vulpix fires her ember attack. The result: a loss of 49 HP from Togepi. Izzy: Togepi, let’s try your metronome attack! Togepi waves her fingers from side to side and comes up with… rain dance. A rain cloud pops up out of nowhere. It begins to rain on the field, the referee, and all of the trainers. Kacee: (to herself) Baka! He’s ruining my uniform! Gary: (sarcastically) Nice going… you idiot! TK: Give him a break! It’s not like he’s studied Pokémon all of his life. Richie: Vulpix, let’s try your tackle attack! Vulpix tackles Togepi, taking off another 14 HP. Izzy: Togepi, metronome again! Togepi does metronome and this time comes up with water gun. It’s super effective against Vulpix, taking off 101 HP, leaving the fire Pokémon with only 12 HP. Richie: Vulpix, let’s switch back to ember attack! Vulpix fires ember once again, which takes off another 49 HP from Togepi. Both Pokémon are now really weak. Izzy: Togepi, one more time! Metronome! This time, Togepi’s metronome yields the defense curl move… which does not hurt Vulpix one bit. Richie: Here goes number one! Vulpix, tackle Togepi. Vulpix tackles the egg shaped Pokémon, knocking out the last of her HP. Togepi faints. Kacee: (raising the red flag) Togepi is out of the match! Green team goes up one to nothing! Izzy recalls Togepi and steps back, letting Brock quickly step in and choose another Pokémon. Oak: (VO) We’re going to skim through the next few battles because of time constraints. Here we go! [Round Three: Richie and Vulpix vs. Brock and Hoothoot (Green 0 – Red 1)] Hoothoot attacks first and easily knocks Richie and Vulpix out of the match. [Round Four: Matt and Meowth vs. Brock and Hoothoot (1-1)] The two Pokémon battle neck and neck for what seems like hours. Finally, Meowth uses his scratch attack to send Hoothoot freefalling to the ground. [Round Five: Matt and Meowth vs. Cody and Chikorita (2-1)] Chikorita quickly disposes of Meowth, but not before the feline gets in one quick attack. [Round Six: Tai and Beedrill vs. Cody and Chikorita (2-2)] Gary advises Cody to pull Chikorita out because of another type mismatch. He promptly agrees. [Round Seven: Tai and Beedrill vs. Joe and Ariados] Ariados reenters the battle, this time under the direction of Joe. Joe continually uses Night Shade to take off chunks of HP from Tai’s Beedrill. Beedrill retaliates with several Poison Sting attacks. But it’s to no avail. Ariados eventually knocks Beedrill out. [Round Eight: Tenchi and Gloom vs. Joe and Ariados (2-3)] Ariados quickly goes on the offensive, using Leech Life to take down Gloom while healing himself. It only takes two Leech Life attacks to suck Gloom dry. [Round Nine: Davis and Spearow vs. Joe and Ariados (2-4)] Gary once again tries to get his team to switch Pokémon. But the team captain feels confident that Ariados will come true. One Wing Attack later, Ariados is sprawled out on the turf. Oak: (VO) Let’s resume the match, with the red team now up by only one. [Round Ten: Davis and Spearow vs. Tori and Totodile (3-4)] Davis: Spearow, use wing attack! Spearow knocks off about 36 HP from Totodile. Tori: (using the computer as a guide) Totodile, bite! Totodile takes a bite out of Spearow, crunching off 43 HP in the process. Davis: Spearow, wing attack again! We should be able to knock Totodile out before he knocks you out! Spearow follows Davis’s orders, snatching away 38 HP this time around. Tori: If you want to play follow the leader… bite Spearow again, Totodile! Totodile takes a very big bite out of Spearow. It’s a critical hit! Totodile eats away Spearow’s 88 HP. Davis: How can that be? Noooooooo! Kacee: Baka, shut up! You lost, so deal with it! (raises the red flag) Spearow has fainted! The score now stands at five to three in favor of the red team. It’s match point! Ash: (CC) I think it’s time I stepped in. The only way we’re going to win is a comeback victory, led by yours truly! * * * * * * * * * * [Round Eleven: Ash and Psyduck vs. Tori and Totodile (3-5)] Tracey: Are you sure about this Ash? I mean, you won’t be able to switch out. Ash: I’m sure. Tracey: But the only Pokémon we have left is Psyduck! Ash: (sweatdrops) Psyduck? (regains his composure) No problem. I can do it. Psyduck and Totodile are now standing in the middle of the field. Ash and Tori prepare for their first attack. Kacee: (raising both flags into the air) Match point for red! Round eleven begin! Tori: Totodile, use bite! Totodile attacks first, taking a big bite out of Psyduck. The duck Pokémon yields 30 HP. Ash: Psyduck, confusion! Psyduck uses confusion, taking 27 HP off of Totodile and bringing the crocodile Pokémon close to fainting. Off to the side, Gary whispers something to TK. Gary: (whispers) You want to finish off Ash? We’ve still got Chikorita. TK: What? I don’t know… Li: (pushing TK aside) It’ll be a pleasure to wipe the floor with a future Pokémon master. Gary: (while scowling under his breath for Li’s comment) Tori! Withdraw! Tori recalls Totodile and steps out of the podium. He doesn’t seem too happy though as Li takes Chikorita’s Pokéball and heads up. [Round Twelve – Ash and Psyduck vs. Li and Chikorita] Ash: Uh oh… I forgot that they still had Chikorita! Tenchi: That’s it… we’re screwed. Davis: Hey! I thought we were all optimists here! Ash will beat Chikorita and then take care of the rest of their Pokémon! The battle resumes. Chikorita uses her speed advantage to take Psyduck out. Li: Chikorita, razor leaf! Chikorita uses razor leaf to decimate Psyduck. Unfortunately, Chikorita does not end it… Psyduck is left with just 2 HP. Ash: (VO) My only shot is that Psyduck’s confusion attack knocks Chikorita out. Li: Hurry up already! I’m ready to head back to the mansion! Ash: Psyduck, confusion! Psyduck uses confusion. Not only does it take off a good amount of HP (68 HP, to be exact), it also confuses Chikorita. Ash: (pumps his fist in the air) Alright! Li: Chikorita! Use razor leaf! Chikorita does use razor leaf… but the attack is aimed straight at the ground. Ash: Psyduck, finish Chikorita with another confusion attack! Psyduck begins to charge up to use confusion… but nothing happens! Ash: Huh? Why didn’t Psyduck attack? Tracey: (groans) Oh no! It must have temporarily forgotten how to do it! Li: Chikorita! Vine whip! Chikorita uses vine whip to slap away Psyduck’s last 2 HP. Psyduck faints. Kacee: (raises the red flag) Psyduck can no longer battle! The match is over! The red team wins! Li jumps down from the podium and watches as his team celebrates. Li can only smile with his victory over a would-be Pokémon master. On the other side, the green team can do nothing but wonder where they went wrong. Ash: (CC) I don’t know how it happened, but I felt that we were clearly overmatched. Gary: (CC) Ha! I knew that Ash couldn’t cut it! After celebrations are over, Kacee escorts the teams back to the mansion. Afterwards, she waves goodbye to the boys and beams herself back to her home. Night Forty Ash and Davis are up in their bedroom, discussing their plans for the final few days. Davis: So, whom are you voting for? Ash: Me? I don’t know. Davis: What do you mean you don’t know? You must have someone in mind. Ash: Even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you. Davis: Why not? Ash: Because I don’t want you influencing my decisions. Davis: I see. Then, I won’t tell you my choices either. Ash: I wasn’t going to ask for them! Davis: That’s what I thought. Ash just sits there with a confused look on his face. Day Forty One Things were rather quiet in the mansion. It seemed that everyone was taking the day off to relax. Well, everyone except for one person in particular, who wasn’t at the mansion, but down at the house of a certain someone’s mother… Mrs. Ketchum: I think it’s sweet that you’re doing so much for her. Tai: (holding a box of some sort) I know it’s a lot, but I’ll do anything to show her that I love her. Mrs. Ketchum: Let me know how things turn out, okay? Tai: (heading towards the door) I will! Thanks Mrs. Ketchum! Mrs. Ketchum: Tai, do me a favor and make sure Ash is changing his underwear! Tai: (sweatdrops) Yeah… sure thing. As Tai walks back to the mansion, he begins to put the pieces together. Tai: I’ve finally got everything I need. Everything to woo the girl of my dreams. (sighs) I just hope she appreciates this. Mrs. Ketchum sure sounds like a swell mother. (snickers to himself) But at least my mom doesn’t embarrass me all the time! Night Forty One At eight o’clock that night, Professor Oak arrives at the mansion. All of the guys head to the first floor recreation room, where the vote for the Final Four will take place. Cody: (CC) We've worked six weeks to get up to this point. Now, it’s time for the final showdown. Oak: Tonight is your forty first night here in Pallet Town. But out of all of the nights you’ve spent here, this one may be the most important. Tonight, you will be voting for which for of you will get a shot to win up to one million dollars in cash. But before we vote, I think we should take a few moments to see if anyone has anything to say. Any takers? Only one hand goes up in the air… the one belonging to Ken. Ken: (standing up) You know, after six weeks I still haven’t been able to pick out a clear cut winner out of all of us. For every triumph we may have, there’s a flaw that brings up back even. That brings us to the possibility of people voting only for people from their own show. And seeing as how there are eight Digidestined, the odds are stacked greatly against the rest of you in this case. So, for all of our sanities, don’t vote along show lines. Look for the ones who are sticking out. Only those elite four should get a shot at the cash. Most of the boys clap their approval. So does Professor Oak. Oak: Anyone else? No one else raises their hand. Oak: Okay, here’s how you’re going to vote tonight. Over in the confessional room, we’ve set up a makeshift voting booth. You are to go in there, vote for the four people who should be in the finals, and speak your peace about them if you wish. Oh, and before I forget, you cannot vote for yourself! With that said, Cody will start us off. Cody goes over to the confessional room and places his four votes. He states one of his choices to the camera. Cody: (CC) I have to look up to my role model here, and that happens to be Joe. I really hope he has enough support to make it to the finals. Cody leaves the room. Matt comes up and places his vote and then departs. Tenchi comes in, quickly votes, and then remarks one of his choices. Tenchi: (CC) Tori and I have a lot in common. Being the eldest among the gang here, we really had to be the parental figures here. We really had to step it up. And since I can’t vote for myself, my top vote has to go to Tori. Good luck, man. Tenchi departs. Gary, TK, and Brock vote and leave. Li then enters and starts talking before he even votes. Li: (CC) Cody’s been under the radar for almost everyone, and that’s why I’m throwing in a loop. Li exits. Tai comes in, votes, and goes out. Davis submits his votes, but he can’t resist leaving without a comment or two. Davis: (CC) Ken, all I can say is that you’re the man! Win this one, buddy! Davis leaves. Tori, Tracey, Ash, and Joe all vote, but none of them say anything for the camera. Ken then goes in the room and speaks his two cents. Ken: (CC) Out of the four I voted for, Tenchi is probably the one that everyone will overlook. Who cares if he’s the only one from his show? He’s shown that he can manage pretty well despite the heavy disadvantage our show gave him. He deserves a shot at the money. Heck, he’s my pick to win it all! Ken removes himself from the room. Richie votes but doesn’t say anything. Izzy is the last to go in. He votes and then confesses one of his choices to the camera. Izzy: (CC) I promised myself that I’d try to avoid voting along show lines, but I couldn’t help it. Especially with TK as one of my picks. He doesn’t hold the Crest of Hope for show. He deserves a shot at the grand prize. Izzy puts his ballot in the box and leaves the room. Once he returns to the recreation room, Professor Oak leaves to tally the votes. Gary: (CC) You know that I've got to be one of the finalists. Davis: (CC) Kari will sure be proud of me when I win it all! Professor Oak returns about five minutes later, with the ballot box in tow. Oak: The votes have been tabulated and the decision is final. The four of you who got the most votes will become the finalists. I have to admit, the vote was pretty spread out. I will tell you that all of the finalists scored at least seven out of a possible 15 votes. Here we go. Professor Oak opens the box and pulls out a card. Oak: Going in the order that you voted, first up is Cody. Cody, you got three. Cody is satisfied with his result, as he gets a pat on the back from each of the Season 2 Digidestined. Oak: (getting another card) Matt is next… and you got one vote. Matt: (in shock) Only… one? Izzy: That’s a real shock. I thought Matt was going to be one of the finalists for sure. Oak: (pulling out the next one) Tenchi. (shows him the card) Nine. You’re finalist number one! Tenchi is pleasantly surprised. Nine out of fifteen was extraordinary for someone who was anything but that. Tori: Good going, Tenchi. Tenchi: Thanks! Joe: You deserve it! Oak: One spot filled, three to go. (gets the next card) Is it gonna be Gary? Nope, you only got two votes. Gary: (smirks) I may not have won, but at least I beat one loser. Matt: Hey! Oak: (retrieving the fifth card) TK. Did you do better than your brother? (smiles) It seems that you did. You got nine votes. TK: (jumping up out of his seat) Yippee! I’m in the finals! Matt: (hugging his brother) Good for you! Davis: Why does CJ get so lucky? Oak: Two down, two to go. (pulling out the next card) Brock, you got four votes. Brock: (snaps his fingers) I thought I would get in for sure. Oak: (with the next card in hand) This should be interesting, Li. You got three votes. Richie: Wow! Li got three votes! I thought he wasn’t going to get any. Tracey: It’s enough for him to say this experience was worth it, but he’s still walking out of here without anything in his pocket. Oak: With Tai, we reach the halfway point. (gets Tai’s card) And we’ve still got two spots to fill, because Tai got only four votes. Tai: What? I’m the Digidestined of Courage! I’m supposed to make the finals! Gary: That’s the way the cookie crumbles. Oak: Number nine is Davis. Li: Oh, we all know he didn’t get in. Davis: What’s that supposed to mean? Li: Exactly what it sounds like. Oak: (shows Davis his card) Davis scored three votes, but that’s all. No finals for you. Davis: Hey! I got the same amount of votes as Li did! I must have done something right after all! Li: So it seems. TK: I’m sure all of his votes were given out of pity. Davis: (whispering to TK) Don’t rub it in! Oak: (pulls out the next card) Tori. Luck has smiled on you, Mr. Avalon, because you got eight big ones from your peers! You’re finalist number three! Tori and Tenchi exchange high fives as Tori gets congratulated by all of the others. Oak: That means that only one spot remains. And there are still six people left. (turns to Tracey) And you, my assistant, are up next. Tracey: (silently cheering to himself) This is it! I’m number four! Oak: (revealing Tracey’s card) And my assistant embarrasses me by not getting a single vote at all. Tracey: What? No way! Someone had to have voted for me! Brock: Too bad, Tracey. I guess I’m the best third leg of the twerp trio! Ash: Brock! You know that only Team Rocket calls us twerps! Oak: Speaking of twerps, ahem, I mean trainers, Ash is up to bat. Ash: And I’m going to hit it over the wall! Oak: (taking Ash’s card out of the box) Well, I’m out of baseball analogies, but maybe you’ll be happy when I tell you that you got seven votes and the fourth and final spot? Ash begins running all around the room in joy. Oak: (sweatdrops) I guess that’s a yes. Everyone catches up to Ash and begins congratulating him. Joe, Ken, Richie, and Izzy, the four who didn’t get a chance to hear their numbers, go over to Professor Oak, who pulls out their cards one at a time. Oak: For the record, Joe got three votes, Ken got four, Richie got two, and Izzy also got two. Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash finally meet in the center of room and engage in a big group hug. The rest of the group cheers them on. Oak: After tabulating the votes, the final four will be Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash. Congratulations! Professor Oak smiles as he departs the room. The boys continue their celebration late into the night. But they better not let it go on for too long. Tomorrow is the final vote, where the winner will be decided. Who will it be? End Episode Nineteen Oak: (VO) This is it! Tenchi: (CC) No matter what the result, I’m sure everyone back in Okayama will be proud. Oak: (VO) The final episode is upon us… TK: (CC) Here’s hoping that I’ll end up on top. Oak: (VO) The winner will be announced… Tori: (CC) If Sakura’s in the finals, let’s hope this turns out an Avalon family sweep. Oak: (VO) And then, we have to say our goodbyes… Ash: (CC) This is the defining moment of my journey to becoming a Pokémon master. Oak: (VO) Episode 20 is on the horizon… Brock: Back on the road again, I suppose. Ash: Yep. Matt: At least I can retire in style. Li: I’m impressed. Tenchi: (blushes) Oh, it’s nothing. Really! Davis: I hereby declare the rivalry over! Tai: This one’s for you, baby. Oak: (VO) Roomies, the boys’ edition, reaches the end of the road… it’s closing time, next time! Copyright Date: 11/29/01
