This is it! The final episode of Roomies, the boys’ edition! Before we begin, remember that you guys voted on the winner a few months ago! So please, do not dispute the result! You chose the winner, not me! Tori? TK? Tenchi? Ash? Who’s it gonna be? Find out right now! Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters participating in this fanfic. * * * * * * * * * * Oak: (VO) Last time, on Roomies, the Amazing Race reached its hectic conclusion… Tracey: (stopping a family of four) Excuse me, but do you know where I can find Old Man Shuckle? Father: Sorry son. I've never heard of him. Ash: Are you sure we're in the right place? Davis: We’d better be. Tenchi: (reading the note) Off on vacation along Route 40. I will return Monday. (to Ken) And it’s signed Old Man Shuckle. Ken: (snaps his fingers) That means we have to go back to Olivine! Davis: Are you Old Man Shuckle? Old Man Shuckle: Eh? Oh, here. He hands them an envelope. Ash and Davis thank him and run back to the taxi. Davis begins to open the envelope as Tori and Tai arrive on the scene. Ash appears at the staircase. He waits for Davis to arrive before they approach Jasmine. The gym leader steps away from the fallen Pokémon and up to the duo. She shakes hands with each of them and then bows before them. Ash and Davis also bow as Jasmine begins to speak. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number one. Davis: Thanks! Tori and Tai arrive on the top floor. They shake hands with Jasmine. Jasmine: (bows) Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number two. Li and a very exhausted Tracey arrive on the top floor. Jasmine shakes hands with them and then bows. Li and Tracey also bow back. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number three. Tracey: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Jasmine! Li: (coughs) Haven’t we had enough guys flirt with high profile females in this show? Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number four. Tenchi: Yes! Ken: What a relief! Right behind them are TK and Izzy. They say their hellos to the Olivine gym leader. Jasmine: Welcome to Olivine City! You are team number five. Oak: (getting up and coming up to the duo) As the last team to arrive, you are eliminated from the challenge. TK: Remind me to never try something like that again. Izzy: (smiles) At least I get to keep my laptop! Oak: (VO) The boys then reunited as we headed back to the Pallet Town mansion… He crumples up the list and throws it towards the wastebasket. He misses the shot. Tai: Why should I even bother? I’m going through all of this for nothing. Oak: (VO) But enough small talk… what about the final challenge? Ash: A simulated Pokémon battle? (jumps up in the air) Yeah! Oak: (VO) Which featured a special guest star… Young Woman: My name is Drag Girl Kacee. But you guys can just call me Kacee for short. Oak: (VO) And came down to a trainer’s whose middle name was ‘Lucky’… Ash: (sweatdrops) Psyduck? (regains his composure) No problem. I can do it. Oak: (VO) But luck was not on his side today… Tori recalls Totodile and steps out of the podium. He doesn’t seem too happy though as Li takes Chikorita’s Pokéball and heads up. Ash: Uh oh… I forgot that they still had Chikorita! The battle resumes. Chikorita uses her speed advantage to take Psyduck out. Li: Chikorita, razor leaf! Chikorita uses razor leaf to decimate Psyduck. Unfortunately, Chikorita does not end it… Psyduck is left with just 2 HP. Li: Hurry up already! I’m ready to head back to the mansion! Ash: Psyduck, confusion! Psyduck uses confusion. Not only does it take off a good amount of HP (68 HP, to be exact), it also confuses Chikorita. Li: Chikorita! Vine whip! Chikorita uses vine whip to slap away Psyduck’s last 2 HP. Psyduck faints. Kacee: (raises the red flag) Psyduck can no longer battle! The match is over! The red team wins! Oak: (VO) But there’s no time to worry about that… it was time to trim the field… Oak: The votes have been tabulated and the decision is final. Oak: (VO) To four… Oak: (pulling out the next one) Tenchi. (shows him the card) Nine. You’re finalist number one! Tenchi is pleasantly surprised. Nine out of fifteen was extraordinary for someone who was anything but that. Oak: (retrieving the fifth card) TK. Did you do better than your brother? (smiles) It seems that you did. You got nine votes. TK: (jumping up out of his seat) Yippee! I’m in the finals! Oak: (pulls out the next card) Tori. Luck has smiled on you, Mr. Avalon, because you got eight big ones from your peers! You’re finalist number three! Tori and Tenchi exchange high fives as Tori gets congratulated by all of the others. Oak: (taking Ash’s card out of the box) Well, I’m out of baseball analogies, but maybe you’ll be happy when I tell you that you got seven votes and the fourth and final spot? Ash begins running all around the room in joy. Oak: Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash. Who will win it all? Find out next… Professor Oak smiles as he departs the room. The boys continue their celebration late into the night. * * * * * * * * * * Tai: Sixteen young guys... Tori: From four different anime shows... Cody: Spend forty two days living alone in a mansion... Tracey: With one lucky soul walking away with up to one million dollars in cash. (Begin theme song) Gary: In this game, you've got to trust the right people... Tenchi: Choosing the wrong person could make the difference... Ken: You could lose out on that prize you wanted... Izzy: Or you could lose out on a hundred thousand dollars. (A picture of each of the contestants is shown, in alphabetical order, changing every second. In order, Ash, Brock, Cody, Davis, Gary, Izzy, Joe, Ken, Li, Matt, Richie, Tai, Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Tracey.) Li: Form your friendships wisely... Matt: Getting along is the big key... Brock: Do all of this, my friends... TK: And you could walk home as the big winner... (Show several shots from past episodes, featuring several of the guys achieving victory) Joe: Some of these guys will form long lasting friendships... Davis: Others will develop intense rivalries... Richie: But only one will walk out with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. All 16 Guys: (together) We are... Roomies! (Four group shots, each featuring four of the boys, flashes on the screen for about two seconds each) - Group 1 - Li, Gary, Joe, and Izzy - Group 2 - Davis, TK, Matt, and Tai - Group 3 - Brock, Ash, Tenchi, and Richie - Group 4 - Cody, Ken, Tori, and Tracey (End theme song, with a picture of all sixteen contestants in front of the mansion) Ash: The boys' edition finals! * * * * * * * * * * Roomies Story Written by Freedom Fighter * * * * * * * * * * Episode Twenty – Closing Time Night Forty One Tai was in his bedroom, talking with Izzy over a few things. Izzy: So you’re telling me that Sora flat out dumped you? And in front of Matt? Tai: I wouldn’t say I was dumped, but that’s the gist of it, pretty much. Izzy: And you’re not giving her up without a fight? Tai: Well, not exactly… Izzy: What do you have up your sleeve? It better be something good… especially since you were flirting with Whitney, the Goldenrod City gym leader. Tai: (angrily) I was not flirting with Whitney! Izzy: You have to admit, she looked rather cute! Tai: Oh, so now you want her? Izzy: (beginning to panic) No, I didn’t say that! Tai: Besides, everything will fall into place soon enough. Izzy: Well, that’s not soon enough for me! What are you up to, Tai Kamiya? Tai: You know, that’s a question I’d expect from one of the girls, not you. Izzy: Tai, you’d better tell me right now what you’re planning! Tai: (starting to head out of the room) I don’t have to tell you anything. Tai leaves the room. Izzy begins to ponder what to do next. Izzy: (CC) I should have figured this out by now. Why can’t I? What’s the connection? What does Tai have to do with Whitney? Day Forty Two It’s just past nine in the morning. Professor Oak goes up to the mansion to retrieve the finalists. In just minutes, Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash are following the professor down to the laboratory. He leaves behind a video for the others to watch. They gather in the first floor recreation room and do so. Oak: Well boys, you’ve spent your last night in Pallet Town. At two o’clock, you will seal the fate of the four finalists. You will vote for who should win the grand prize: up to one million dollars in cash. Our four finalists have been taken to a secret location, so that they may not influence any of you in your vote. While they are gone, you’ll get a chance to compile a series of questions to ask the candidates at this afternoon’s final vote. Until then, I’ll see you later! With that, the tape ends. The group goes to work to start creating questions. Some time passes… as the twelve boys at the mansion continue to work on their questions, Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash have been locked up in separate rooms at Pallet Town’s lone motel. They are each given their own camcorder to record their own thoughts about the Final Four vote process. Tenchi: (CC) No matter what the result, I’m sure everyone back in Okayama will be proud. Who knows? Maybe all of the girls will get off of my back when I come home with all of that money. TK: (CC) After all that’s happened, I’m just glad I’m actually in the Final Four. Here’s hoping that I’ll end up on top. Tori: (CC) If Sakura’s in the finals, let’s hope this turns out an Avalon family sweep. Of course, if I win and she doesn’t, then she’ll be hearing from me. A lot. That’s because she’s more than capable of winning. Ash: (CC) This is the defining moment of my journey to becoming a Pokémon master. What would make it even better? Winning all of that money! That will show Gary who’s the best trainer from Pallet Town! Tenchi: (CC) My choice to win? It would be Tori. If only I could be as cool as he is around women. TK: (CC) Tenchi should win this. He and Tori helped Davis and I when we had that fight back in the maze challenge. But Tenchi has done a little more than Tori has, so he should win. Tori: (CC) Tenchi. Unbelievable, yet so unlucky. I think it’s time his luck changed. I would vote for him to win. Ash: (CC) Honestly, TK needs to win. He needs to show Tori and Tenchi that the younger kids here has done more than the older ones have. TK all the way! At exactly two o’clock, Professor Oak enters the mansion. The boys, minus the four finalists, are waiting for him in the first floor recreation room. The professor sets up five chairs in the front of the room before putting a tape into the VCR. Oak: Before the finalists come in here, they agreed to tape themselves in a private confession. What they don’t know is that we’re actually showing their confessions to you right now, in order to help you in your decision. Why don’t we start with Tenchi? Professor Oak plays the tape. The group gets to watch each of the finalists do their confession. First is Tenchi, followed by TK, Tori, and Ash. There’s nothing out of the ordinary, but the group takes everything they say into consideration. Oak: Now that you’ve seen what the finalists think about being here, let’s invite them in, shall we? Professor Oak leaves the room and returns shortly thereafter with the foursome. Some of the boys begin to murmur to each other. Everyone takes a seat, including Professor Oak. Oak: Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash. I’d like to inform you that I’ve just shown everyone here the tapes from your confessions this morning. The foursome is shocked by this development… but none of them seemed fearful for what they said. Oak: This allows the boys here to take that into consideration for when they vote. We will give each of the candidates one more chance to swing the votes their way. But first, we’re going to have the prize drawings. The professor pulls out another tape and heads over to the VCR. Oak: (as he puts the tape in) While the finalists were locked away, a lottery machine was used to determine which of you would win the prizes you have become eligible for. The tape starts. Professor Oak appears on the screen, along with Erika, the gym leader of Celadon City. Between them stands an old fashioned lottery machine. Erika explains the rules to the befuddled boys. Erika: (VO) Each guy is given a specific colored ball and number. Every time they are eligible for a prize, their ball is put into the machine. If a guy’s colored ball comes up, he wins that prize. For every partial or full group of four candidates eligible for a prize, another drawing for the same prize will be done. For example, if four guys are eligible, only one will win the prize. But if five are eligible, two will win the prize. [Color Assignments: Red – [1] Ash, [2] Brock, [3] Cody, [4] Davis Blue – [1] Gary, [2] Izzy, [3] Joe, [4] Ken Yellow – [1] Li, [2] Matt, [3] Richie, [4] Tai Green – [1] Tenchi, [2] TK, [3] Tori, [4] Tracey] [Drawing 1: Panasonic CD Player w/ 2 free CDs] Erika: It’s time for the first drawing! For the CD player and the two free CDs of the winner’s choice, we’ve got Li, Tai, Tori, and Tracey. One of you will win this little package. The lottery balls of the four respective characters are put into the lottery machine. The machine is then started, with a white ball placed onto the spout. After a few seconds, Erika removes the white ball, causing the machine to suck one of the balls up to fill its place. The Green 4 ball comes up. Erika: It looks like Tracey wins the CD player and the two free CDs! Tracey: (jumping for joy) And I know what CDs I’m going to get too! ‘Sounds of the Orange Islands’ and ‘Pokémon in Nature.’ Matt: You can’t be serious. [Drawing 2: $250, in $10 bills] Erika: Who wants some quick cash? There’s $250 on the line for these ten lucky souls: Cody, Davis, Gary, Izzy, Joe, Ken, Li, Tenchi, TK, and Tori. That means three of the ten will win $250 each. Here we go! Erika restarts the machine. One at time, she draws three balls: Blue 2, Green 2, and Red 3. Erika: Well, Izzy will get $250, TK will get $250, and Cody will get $250. The three Digidestined give each other a high five. [Drawing 3: Sony Playstation 2] Erika: We’ve got four in the running for a single, solitary Sony Playstation 2 game system. The four lucky boys are Brock, Matt, Tenchi, and Tracey. Everything’s reset and the four balls are put in the machine. This time around, the Red 2 ball comes up. Erika: Brock, it looks like you’ll be doing nothing but playing video games for the next few months. Brock: Who cares about playing games? (blushes) Unless Erika plays with me. Tenchi: As if she would. [Drawing 4: Panasonic 25” TV/VCR] Erika: Next up is this TV with a built-in VCR. We’ve got two to give away since five of you are eligible. Those five are Brock, Li, Matt, TK, and Tori. This time around, the two balls that come up are Green 2 and Green 3. Erika: TK and Tori, I’m sending a free TV/VCR your way! [Drawing 5: Nokia 8860 Cell Phone] Erika: We’ve got a cell phone up for grabs next. One phone to fight over for these four: Matt, Richie, TK, and Tori. The lottery machine starts once again. This time around, the lucky winner is Yellow 2. Erika: It looks like Matt finally got something. Here’s a cell phone just for you! Matt already begins to imagine how often he’s going to use his new cell phone. [Drawing 6: Dell Dimension 8200 Computer] Erika: Last but not least, we’ve got a computer to give away. Two computers, to be exact. We’ve got eight of you who could win it. Ash, Davis, Ken, Li, Tai, Tenchi, Tori, and Tracey, two of you will win! For the last time, the machine starts up. Green 1 and Red 4 come up this time. Erika: Looks like I’ll be sending Tenchi and Davis computers. Tenchi is happy that he’ll finally have a computer in his house. Davis is too… since they already have one, this one is so he doesn’t have to share with his older sister, Jun. Erika: I guess that’s all she wrote! Good luck to the finalists! The tape then comes to an end. * * * * * * * * * * Back to the first floor recreation room… Oak: Well, I hope the twelve of you are ready, because it’s time for our little question and answer period. Each of you made up one question that you are going to ask one of the candidates. And since the candidates will not be allowed to vote, they must use this period as their last chance to sway votes their way. Everyone gets their questions out. Oak: We’ll go around the room until everyone has asked their question. Let’s start with Davis, shall we? Davis: Okay, this is for AC. TK: (sighs) Figures. And it’s TK, Davis. Davis: CB, what makes you think Kari likes you better than she likes me? Ash: Oh brother… TK: It’s okay. I’ll answer the question. Anyway, Davis, I think Kari likes me better than you do because I’m not always in her face asking her out on a date, trying to please her, or messing up her best friend’s name… namely, mine. Davis: Oh, what do you know about love? Oak: (coughs) Ahem. Okay Davis, you’ve asked your question. Sit down so Izzy can go. Izzy: Tenchi, do you think your chances to win are better or worse than the other candidates because you’re the only representative from your show? Tenchi: If you had asked me that on the first day, I would have definitely said worse. But since then, I’ve made so many friends here that this whole representation thing would not matter. So I think my chances are much better, especially since I don’t have to share votes between my closest friends and family members. Izzy smiles and gives Tenchi a thumbs up as he sits down. Oak: Tracey, you’re up. Tracey: Ash, did you vote for any of your fellow candidates? Why or why not? Ash: Um… no, I did not vote for anyone up here. That’s because I believed that the people that I had voted for deserved to have a shot at the grand prize. Some murmuring can be heard from the crowd, questioning Ash’s choice in finalists. Oak: Brock. Brock: Ash, will you ever admit your feelings for Misty? Ash: What kind of question is that? You’re supposed to be asking me questions about my performance here, not my personal life! Oak: Ash, just answer the question! Ash: Fine. No. Brock: What? Ash: No. Brock: (under his breath) Liar. Oak: Okay… how about Li? Li: This is for Tenchi. Since you live with eight other people, would you split your prize money with them if you were to win? Tenchi: Good question. Not that I’m trying to sound greedy or anything, but a few of those people would probably spend their share almost immediately after I give it to them. And then there will be all of this nagging about whether or not I can lend them some money. It’s very confusing. But to be humble, I would split the money. Oak: Richie? Richie: Tori, I know you’ve been looked up to as one of the father figures of the house since you are one of the oldest. If you were put in a similar situation in another mansion similar to this, would you take up that role again? Why or why not? Tori: Personally, I wouldn’t mind. Honestly, some of you have been trying my nerves. But when it comes down to it, I really cared about you all. I wanted to make sure that you all stayed safe and that you didn’t tear each other apart. So yes, if given the opportunity, I would take up that role again. Some of the boys agree with Tori’s answer, as they begin to decide who their choice will be. Oak: Cody? Cody: TK, could you tell everyone why there was not much of a rivalry between the two different sets of Digidestined, as there was originally prior to coming here. TK: I guess that once we got here, most of us were more concerned about having fun. Only towards the last week or so did we remember. And even when we tried a few things, nothing really came to fruition. So, the much publicized rivalry between our two factions ended being all for naught. Oak: Joe, it’s your turn. Joe: Tori, if there is one person in this room that you wish you could get booted out of the house, who would it be and why? Tori: That’s easy. Li. He’s just too annoying. Li growls to himself. Joe just takes note of the incident and sits down. Oak: Let’s move on, shall we? Tai? Tai: Okay, this is for Ash. If you voted for me in last night’s Final Four ceremony, why did you? And if you didn’t vote for me, why not? Ash: You’re gonna make me answer that? (sighs) Okay Tai, I did vote for you. But only because I thought leaders should stick together. Tai: Ha! See, I knew it! I should be in the finals! Matt: Sit down! Tai: Okay already! Yeesh, don’t have a cow… Oak: Gary? Gary: This one is also for Ash. Ash: Why’s everyone picking on me? Gary: If I was up there in your place and you were down here, would you vote for me? Ash: You have got to be kidding! Gary: I thought so! Sucker! Ash: Hey! That’s not fair! Oak: Fair or not, these are legitimate questions. Matt, you’re up. Matt: This is for you, little brother. TK: Bring it on, big brother! Matt: Just how much longer do you think the truce between you and Davis will last? TK: I say the moment we walk out of this house, we’ll both be back to our old ways. Davis: In that case, I’m leaving once this is said and done! Oak: (rolls his eyes) Let’s just get this over with. Ken, you’re the last one. Ken: Tenchi, since you were my roommate, I want to know what you thought of living with me. Tenchi: If you’re looking for me to say something bad, then you’re all out of luck. Ken is the quiet type. He tends to stay to himself, but there was one thing we definitely had in common. We talked a lot about girls and how to avoid being swarmed by them. The boys laugh hysterically. Oak: Well, that was interesting. But it’s time to vote. Unfortunately, the finalists cannot be in the room when they do so. So, I need Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash to follow me. Professor Oak leads the foursome out of the room. A few minutes later, he returns without them. Oak: It’s now time to vote. The booth in the confessional room is up once again. Use the camera to say anything about your choice, if you wish, and then put your ballot in the box. Return here once you’re done. Davis, you’re up first. Davis goes up to the confessional room. He writes down his vote and shows it to the camera. Davis: (CC) I’m voting for Tenchi to win. If I voted for LJ, then he’d probably win and then Kari would be all over him. And I can’t let that happen. Davis leaves. Izzy comes in and votes before exiting. Tracey is next. He votes and shows his ballot to the camera. Tracey: (CC) I voted for Tori. During the question and answer period, he gave honest answers. I’m not saying that the others didn’t, but Tori sounded like he deserved the money. So I’m going to give it to him. Tracey departs. Brock comes in, makes his vote, and then confesses it to the camera. Brock: (CC) I’ve just got to go for Ash. I mean, we are best buds after all. And what best bud would leave his friend hanging? After Brock leaves, Richie goes in. He is followed by Cody. Then comes Joe, who also talks into the camera, but doesn’t admit his choice. Joe: (CC) I think he’s earned it. It’s as simple as that. Joe goes out. Tai then comes in and submits his vote, as well as his unknown choice. Tai: (CC) I think some people will be surprised by my vote. But anyone who is as lucky as he is deserves to have it all pay off. Tai exits. Gary votes and then leaves the room. Matt is up now. He shows his ballot to the camera. Matt: (CC) I’ve got to go for TK, my little brother. There’s no other way. He deserves to win. And if he does, I hope he uses the money to help support our mom. Matt heads back to the recreation room. Ken is the last one to vote. He fills out the ballot, puts it in the box, and leaves the room. He returns to the recreation room as Professor Oak heads out to get the finalists and the ballot box. Tenchi, TK, Tori, and Ash return to the room. They take a seat and wait for Professor Oak to return. He does after a few minutes, with the ballot box in hand. Oak: I have tabulated all of the votes. Once they have been read, the decision is final. But before I open the box and read the votes, I have something to give the candidates. Professor Oak hands each of the candidates a small envelope with an index card inside. Oak: Inside those envelopes is an index card listing how much money you will possess if you are voted the winner today. Please do not open them until the votes have been read. I’ll now read the votes. The professor opens the box and starts pulling out votes, one by one. Oak: First vote… Tenchi. Tenchi smiles slightly. Oak: TK… TK smiles as well. Oak: Tori… Tori doesn’t flinch at all. Oak: Ash… that means all of the candidates now have one vote. Ash is excited that he now has a vote. Oak: Number five goes to Tenchi… Tenchi smiles slightly again. Oak: Tori… Tori begins to get a little bit nervous. Oak: TK… that’s two for Tenchi, Tori, and TK, and one for Ash. TK sits calmly as the next vote is read. Oak: Tori… Tori is now smiling happily. Oak: Tenchi… Tenchi and Tori exchange glances. Oak: TK. That means Tenchi, Tori, and TK are tied at three votes apiece. Ash is starting to doubt his chances, while the other candidates are awaiting the next vote. Oak: Tenchi… Tenchi now has the advantage. He is smiling happily. Oak: Either Tori or TK can tie with this final vote. But if the final vote is for Tenchi or Ash, then Tenchi wins it all. The professor takes the last ballot out of the box. Oak: (after a moment of silence) The last vote goes to TK. We have a tie. The group then starts to get into quite an uproar. How could there have been a tie between Tenchi and TK? * * * * * * * * * * All of the boys were talking about what happened. The vote had ended in a tie, with Tenchi and TK at the top. Professor Oak tried to regain control of the situation. Oak: Simmer down everyone! Ash and Tori go over and congratulate Tenchi and TK, now that they have lost. Oak: Now, before anyone jumps to any conclusions, please realize that we can’t afford to pay off two winners. So we will have another vote. But now, obviously, Ash and Tori are out of the running. But because they were candidates, they still cannot vote. He then turns to Tenchi and TK. Oak: I’m going to give each of you thirty seconds to convince everyone in this room that you deserve to win the cash prize. Tenchi, you’re first. Tenchi: Well, you know that there are nine people total in my house, including myself. And that’s a lot of mouths to feed. And seeing how we’re always strapped for cash, this would be a great boost for us. Oak: TK? TK: At least Tenchi lives in a big house out in the country! I live in the city and in an apartment! With my divorced mother! Tenchi’s a great guy and everything, but I need the money more than he does. Oak: Very interesting pleas there. But now, it’s time to vote. Ash and Tori, could you please lead Tenchi and TK to the same room as before and then return here. The foursome leaves the room. Ash and Tori return about a minute later. Oak: Now that Ash and Tori are back, they can watch as the rest of you vote once again. We’ll vote in the same order, starting with you, Davis. One at a time, the twelve boys head back to vote. Davis, Izzy, Tracey, Brock, Li, Richie, Cody, Joe, Tai, Gary, Matt, and Ken all submit their votes and then return to the room. Oak then tells Ash and Tori to get Tenchi and TK, while he gets the ballot box. A few minutes later, Professor Oak and the sixteen boys are gathered in the first floor recreation room once again. The professor opens the ballot box and begins reading off votes again. Oak: Once again, after the votes are read, the decision is final. First vote… Tenchi. Tenchi does not react. Oak: TK… TK sits quietly and waits for the next vote. Oak: TK… The Digidestined start to get a little happier. Oak: Tenchi. That makes it two apiece. Tenchi and TK are now holding hands and praying. Oak: Tenchi… Professor Oak pulls out the next ballot. Oak: TK… Still no reaction from either Tenchi or TK. Oak: TK. TK isn’t happy just yet, but he’s getting there. Oak: TK… that’s five to three in favor of TK. TK is now ecstatic. Tenchi begins to worry. Oak: Tenchi… There’s no change in emotion from either of them. Oak: Tenchi… and all of a sudden, we’re deadlocked at five votes apiece! TK’s smile has turned into a frown. Tenchi still has that worrisome face. Oak: TK… six to five, TK. Professor Oak pulls out the last ballot. Oak: The twelfth and final vote… After a very long minute of silence… Oak: Goes to the boys’ edition champion, TK of Digimon! TK jumps out of his seat and leaps into his big brother’s arms. TK is mugged by everyone as they try to get in and congratulate him. Even Tenchi has to push his way in to talk to TK. Tenchi: Man TK, you sure earned it! TK: So did you, Tenchi! So did you! As the celebration continues, Professor Oak tries to get the four candidates back to the front of the room while getting everyone else to sit down. He then takes TK’s envelope before he has a chance to open. TK: Huh? Oak: Hold on there, TK. We can’t find out how much you’ve won until we find how much they were playing for. Professor Oak turns to Tori first. He opens it and pulls out an index card. Tori: (nonchalantly) $330,000. Oak: $330,000 would probably be just below average, but that’s a good amount of money, though. At least you won that TV/VCR earlier. Ash: (opens his envelope and nearly faints in the process) $340,000? Oak: If only you would have gotten a few more votes, that would’ve been all yours. Tenchi: Well, here goes nothing. (opens his envelope and pulls out the card) $455,000! Oak: Not bad for six weeks, huh? And you were that close to winning it! Tenchi: (bows his head in shame) It figures. Oak: You got a computer though, which is some prize indeed. Tenchi: It’s a very neat consolation prize. Oak: Now to you, TK. (begins to open the envelope) Out of the four finalists, you were playing for the most money, believe it or not. TK: (with excitement) Really? Oak: (smiles and pulls out the card) But you didn’t beat Tenchi by much… you got $460,000. Tenchi: (bugging out) It was that close? TK: Wow! No wonder we had to go to a second vote! Oak: Yep. There was only $5,000 separating you two. Anyway, it doesn’t matter by what margin. TK, you did win. And you have a TV/VCR, as well as another $250 to throw in there, so you did pretty well for yourself. The celebration resumes, as everyone gives TK a pat on the back, shakes his hand, or gives him a big hug. TK: (CC) It’s just so unreal. To be so close that it required a second vote… and even that was mind blowing. I would like to thank everyone who made this possible. And as for Tenchi, Tori, and Ash? Well, it was great to have you three as co-finalists. May whatever happen in the future for you three be great. I’m going to go celebrate now. Four hours later… After spending some time packing, the boys were starting to leave the mansion. All of the Digidestined, plus Tori and Li, were in a rush to make sure they caught the 10 p.m. flight to Tokyo, remembering that it was a three hour drive from Pallet to Viridian, where their plane was departing from. By five thirty, there were three vans waiting outside to drive the ten boys to Viridian City. Almost all of them had put their stuff into the vans. They were just waiting on Tai and Davis. Everyone else was already saying their goodbyes. Tori: You still haven’t told me how you got all of those girls to like you! Tenchi: (blushes) Oh, it’s nothing. Really! Cody: Where are Tai and Davis? We’re going to miss the plane! Gary: Let them miss it. It’s their problem. Ken: It’ll be nice to be home again. TK: You said it. If only I can think of how to spend my money. Brock: Back on the road again, I suppose. Ash: Yep. Matt: At least I can retire in style. Li: I’m impressed. Davis: (running out) I hereby declare the rivalry over! Joe: No more fighting between seasons, okay guys? Tai: (now coming out onto the front yard) This one’s for you, baby. Izzy: You’re not talking to Whitney again, are you? Tracey: Anyone want me to make a sketch of them before we go? Richie: For once, you’ve got a good idea, Tracey! The group gets together so Tracey can make a quick sketch. It only takes him fifteen minutes to get the basic outlines of everyone done. Tracey: I’ll mail the sketch to all of you, but I’ll let you go since you’re all in a rush. [Begin playing “Closing Time,” by Semisonic] The group of ten begins piling into the vans. Li, Izzy, Joe, and Cody all pile into the first van. Matt, Tai, and Tori get into the second, leaving TK, Davis, and Ken with the third. Making sure that all of their stuff is secured, the three vans leave the grounds and start heading off to Pallet Town. Richie and Brock wait for a few minutes before they get their own transport van to Viridian City. They wave goodbye to Ash, Gary, and Tracey before putting their stuff in and departing. The remaining trio makes the walk off of the grounds and down the hill to the main town. Gary and Tracey get ready to head off in the direction of Professor Oak’s laboratory, while Ash looks down the path to his own house. Ash: Well, I guess this is goodbye for now. Gary: Yeah. It looks we’re heading back to where we were in Johto, huh? Tracey: Oh, you guys are going to Johto? Can I come? Ash and Gary: (simultaneously) No! Tracey: Well, it was worth a try. Besides, I can stay here with Professor Oak and be happy anyway. Ash: Until next time, you guys! Tracey: See you around! Gary: Yeah, you’ll see me. Ash splits from Gary and Tracey as they go their separate ways.
