"Roomies 2: Country Living" - written by Freedom Fighter ====== Epilogue (10.08.02) Day Forty Two A couple of hours after Duo had been announced the winner, the entire group was now gathered outside the house. They are preparing to say their goodbyes. [Bit and Joey] Bit: You'll keep in touch, right? Joey: How am I gonna do that? We live in different universes, you know. Bit: Maybe you can find a portal of some sort in that Shadow Realm you keep mentioning. Joey: Don't even joke! There's no way I'm stepping into that place, ever! Bit: I'm sure Jamie can figure out something when I get back. Good luck getting money for your sister's operation! Joey: And good luck to you too! You'll need it if that 'S' class is as hard as you say it is. [Kiyone and Keitaro] Keitaro: My vacation is finally over. Kiyone: (sighs) Yeah. I'm gonna miss living in the mansion. Being away from Mihoshi... well, at least for 39 of 42 days... was worth it. Keitaro: I have to go back to the Hinata Apartments and resume my studying again for the Tokyo University entrance exam. Kiyone: Hopefully you'll be in the next time I see you. Keitaro: I hope so too. At this point, there are hugs and handshakes a plenty as the group splits into groups of seven and five before piling into the vans with all of their stuff. ====== [Begin playing Michelle Branch's "Goodbye to You" in the background] [Group A - Kiyone, Melfina, Duo, Faye, Roger, Jessie, and Bit] The first group drives up to the Masaki front yard in the red minivan. There, by the lake that borders the south end of the property, stands Washu again with the portal up and ready to go. The seven of them get out and start pulling all of their bags out. Bit manages to get all of his stuff out first, so he walks over to Washu, ready to go. Washu: Will you be first? Bit: Yep. I guess so. As Washu inputs the correct coordinates, everyone else gets their act together and starts lining up behind Bit. All except for Kiyone, who pulls her bags over beside Washu. After all, she didn't need the portal to get back home. She already was home. ====== [Group B - Joey, Jeri, Mondo, Chi-Chi, and Keitaro] Chi-Chi drives the red minivan with her group to Osaka Kansai Airport. After pulling into the parking lot, the six of them exit the van with all of their bags in hand. Mondo seems to be in an extreme rush, since his plane is due to leave in less than 20 minutes. Joey as well, as his leaves in 25 minutes. Keitaro: Why didn't we all get booked on the same flight? Chi-Chi: If you all would have reserved tickets at the same time, you wouldn't have to be worrying about it! Keitaro: It's too bad you won't be joining me and Jeri. Chi-Chi: I'm heading back to my house out in the country once all of you are gone. My flight doesn't leave for a few hours. ====== Of all the things I've believed in I just want to get it over with As the portal opens, Bit waves goodbye to everyone as he heads in. Bit: See ya guys later! Duo: You and Liger Zero better be at the top of the 'S' class next time I see you! Tears form behind my eyes But I do not cry Counting the days that pass me by At the airport, Mondo and Jeri are hugging each other in front of a security checkpoint. Jeri: (crying) You're the best friend I could ever have. Mondo: (lifting Jeri's chin up) Stay strong, Jeri. I'll miss you. Jeri: (wiping the tears from her eyes) I'll miss you too. I still get lost in your eyes And it seems that I can't live a day without you Duo and Melfina share one last kiss before she prepares to walk into the portal to her destination. Duo: Tell Gene that he's one lucky guy to have a girl like you. Melfina: Thanks. Hope everything works out with you and Hilde. Duo: (blushes) Our relationship is still a work in progress. Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away To a place where I am blinded by the light But it's not right Shots of Roger, Faye, and Jessie going into the portal one by one, each directed to their proper places. They each have their unique ways of saying goodbye, including one last glare between Roger and Faye. Back at the airport, Joey, having just finished a talk with Chi-Chi about his sister Serenity, heads off towards his gate to catch his flight home. Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything I thought I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold on to Duo now shares a final goodbye with Kiyone, as he is the last to go through the portal. Duo: You put up quite a challenge, Kiyone. I hope we get another chance to battle against each other again. Kiyone: (raises an eyebrow) One-on-one? Sure. I'll show you that I still have a few hidden things from my Galaxy Police training that'll surprise you. Duo: And I'm sure my mobile suit training will throw you a few loops. The two hug each other before Duo grabs his belongings and walks into the portal. It shuts behind him, leaving Kiyone and Washu standing there. Washu: Glad it's over? Kiyone: As fun as it all was, it's nice to be home again. And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time I want what's yours and I want what's mine I want you But I'm not giving in this time It's an hour after both Mondo and Joey left on their planes for Tokyo. Keitaro and Jeri are now saying their goodbyes to not only Chi-Chi, but each other. Although they are on the same plane, they are seated in opposite ends of the plane. Keitaro: If you two ever want to drop by the Hinata apartments, let me know! Chi-Chi: (to Jeri) I wouldn't go there alone, especially with Keitaro running the place. Keitaro: Hey! Chi-Chi: (patting Keitaro on the shoulder) I'm joking! I know you're doing a great job if the girls like you so much. Jeri: If I'm in that part of the city with Takato and the others, we might take you up on that offer. Chi-Chi squats down and gives Jeri a hug, which she happily returns. Chi-Chi: I'm sorry for treating you so harshly. Jeri: Don't worry. I understand why you did it. Good luck with your sons. Chi-Chi then gives Keitaro a hug, which makes him blush profusely. Keitaro and Jeri then walk off to their gate as Chi-Chi watches them leave. Goodbye to you Goodbye to everything I thought I knew You were the one I loved The one thing that I tried to hold on to The one thing that I tried to hold on to And when the stars fall I will lie awake You're my shooting star [Music stops playing] = = = = = = = = = = Theme song starts playing in the background as we go live to Yayoi Auditorium, located on the Hongo campus of Tokyo University. A crowd of nearly a thousand packs the auditorium tight, with many people standing in the back and in the balcony. On the left side of the stage sit two rows of chairs. The back row has seven chairs, while the front only has five. There's a thirteenth chair separated from the others, but positioned so that it is facing them. On the right side sits the small band that is playing the theme song. And in the center of the stage is a large screen, surrounded by fake cherry blossom trees and a 1/32nd size replica of the Okayama mansion. The familiar scenes from the theme song (version 4) begin to appear on the large screen as the voice of Tenchi Masaki fills the auditorium. Tenchi: (VO) For 42 days, 12 anime converge to live in a mansion somewhere in Japan... Mimi: (VO) But one of the 12 will leave with nearly a million dollars in cash... (Each of the contestants are shown one at a time for two seconds each) - Kiyone, flying the Yagami while dressed in her Galaxy Police uniform - Duo, taking an order at the salvage yard he runs - Jeri, being held in Takato's arms after being rescued from the D-Reaper - Melfina, resting her head against Gene's shoulder - Joey, playing his favorite combo: Baby Dragon and Time Wizard - Roger, using his wristwatch to call for the Big O - Keitaro, standing in the snow as he stares at Tokyo University - Chi-Chi, training Goten out in the front yard - Bit, piloting the Liger Zero in battle against an Elephander - Mondo, tasting one of Rockna's dishes after a Mon World cooking competition - Faye, returning to the place where she believes she grew up - Jessie, recalling Wobbuffet back to its Pokéball after it had gotten out (Show scenes of the gang preparing for the final four vote, Mimi welcoming them to Smallville, and then a montage of all of the author cameos.) Mimi: (VO) Some of them will become friends... Tenchi: (VO) Others will develop grudges against those they hate... Mimi and Tenchi: (VO) But only one will walk away with up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. (End theme song, with a picture of all 12 contestants standing in front of the mansion.) *************** Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters who appear in this reunion special. The exceptions are any author cameos that are present to ask questions to the cast members, and Cassie Banks, who belongs to me and may not be used in any shape or form without my written consent. Roomies 2: Country Living - The Reunion Special! ====== The audience is applauding loudly as an announcer introduces the host. Announcer: Here's your host for the evening, Cassie Banks! A spotlight shines down onto the left center aisle as Cassie walks towards the stage. She's wearing a green knee-length dress with emerald high heels. The blonde haired girl, who could pass off as a stunt double for Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz, is flanked by a bodyguard on either side. But that doesn't stop her from shaking a few hands on the way to the stage. As she reaches the steps leading up to the stage, the bodyguards leave her side. She heads onstage and reaches for her right hip, where she checks to make sure that her microphone is on. Cassie: Good evening everyone! The crowd gives her a rousing round of applause before eventually taking their seats. Cassie: (smiles) I never would have guessed that I'd be at college at the age of 13. And I never had to take one entrance exam! Can you believe it? Maybe I should start tutoring Keitaro. She gets a modest amount of laughter from the crowd. Cassie: Seriously though, I'm not really a college student. I got one of the deans to show me a typical entrance exam. Let me tell you, I've got a better chance of going to England and joining that boy-girl group called S Club 7. Anyone heard of them? With a few exceptions, the crowd is absolutely dead silent. Cassie: Trust me, you don't want to hear them. I'm telling you, having a group made up of both men and women only works when they aren't trying to see who can hit the most high notes. It reminds me of the second most boring Pokémon battle in history. A few of the Pokémon fans cheer in the stand. Cassie: Yes, Pokémon. The fanfic I'm from stars the cast of Pokémon, for those of you who don't know. Anyway, that battle was between an Aipom and a Spinarak. That's a monkey and a spider, for those of you keeping score. For half an hour, both trainers told their Pokémon to use nothing but screech attacks. Actually, it was only a minute or two, but the two Pokémon had made each other deaf after a few screeches that they couldn't hear any more. How about that? Cassie doesn't get much of a reaction out of that one. Cassie: It still can't beat the most boring Pokémon battle of all time. She points to the screen, where Ash and Samurai watch their Metapods do battle. Cassie: A Metapod versus a Metapod. Ash and Samurai here must be real hardheaded, because they told their Metapods to do nothing but harden! You'd think that after all of that hardening, those Metapod would be unable to move. Oh well. She doesn't even get as much as a peep from the audience this time. Cassie: Seeing as all of the Pokémon humor is going over everyone's heads, let's talk about Chi-Chi for a second. The Dragonball cast members and fans are now cheering for a second. Cassie: She's like, what, 35, 36 years old, and she can easily beat the crap out of any of the male cast members. Remember the martial arts competition, when she beat up Joey? Chi-Chi's practically old enough to be Joey's mom, and in that match she gave new meaning to 'disciplining her children.' Ouch! A picture from the challenge, showing Chi-Chi easily sending Joey out of the ring. Once again, Cassie gets a small round of laughs. Cassie: (irate) Seeing as how I'm not getting much out of you guys, I'll move on with the show. Happy? The crowd claps and cheers loudly, but it wasn't enough to satisfy Cassie. Cassie: You guys can do better than that! These twelve have been living in almost complete silence about their experience for seven months, waiting for the day that they could share it! But you guys don't seem like you're interested. Prove me wrong, guys! Do you want to see these guys? This time the crowd is applauding and cheering as loud as they can. Cassie smiles as she heads over to the left side of the stage. Cassie: Well, it's time to welcome the cast of Roomies 2: Country Living! Let's start with the negotiator himself, Roger Smith! Roger comes out, waving to the crowd with a decent amount of applause. He takes a seat in the back row, in the seat farthest back. Cassie: Mother truly knows best... here's Chi-Chi Sonn! Chi-Chi receives about the same amount of cheers as Roger did, with most of them centralized in the Dragonball contingent, which consists of four rows in the center aisle. Cassie: With barrels a-blazing, here's the cowboy, Faye Valentine! Faye gets a loud amount of cheering from the crowd, mostly from the predominant single males in the audience. Cassie: Someone's always gotta be the sneaky one. Jessie, come on out! A small amount of cheers, barely enough to drown out a sea of boos, fill the air. Jessie does manage to see James and Meowth close to the front, trying to cheer her on. Cassie: Hinata's ladies' man himself, Keitaro Urashima! Keitaro gets a good round of applause from his fans. He even spots a few signs being held up that state that he should have won. Cassie: Next up is the pilot of the Liger Zero, Bit Cloud! Bit doesn't get much applause from the audience, but at least there wasn't anyone booing at him. Cassie: Here's the kid with the bandaid on his forehead, Mondo Ooya! Mondo receives a loud round of applause from his group of supporters, especially from the hundreds of monsters from Mon World who were stuck up in the balcony, away from Rockna, Professor Hiragi, and the rest of the main cast. He is the last to sit in the back row. Cassie: She played the innocent girl... Jeri Katou! Just by stepping onto the stage, the stadium erupts with applause and cheers. A lot of signs are up with her name on it, but she doesn't take any time to look at them. She instead focuses on the Tamers crew in the fifth and sixth rows, who are applauding her. Cassie: Onto the final four! We'll start with the loveable Joey Wheeler! Although the screams are slightly lower than Jeri's were, Joey takes it all in stride. A lot of girls seem to be cheering for him, which made him all the more happier. Cassie: Talk about a maid who could do anything... here's Melfina! Melfina receives a decent round of applause and heads for her seat as quickly as possible. Cassie: No alliances for this woman! Here's Kiyone Makibi! The screams rise back to the level that they were at during Joey's entrance. She waves happily to the crowd before sitting in her seat. Cassie: (smiles) And this guy needs no introduction! The winner of Roomies 2: Country Living... Gundam pilot Duo Maxwell! Duo gets a standing ovation from Roomies and everyone in the audience alike. Cheers, screams, applause, he was getting it all. He walks from one end of the stage to the other and back, waving to the crowd. He then takes his seat in the front row, next to Kiyone. Cassie: Ladies and gentlemen, let's give it up one more time for the cast members of Roomies 2: Country Living! Another round of applause and cheering can be heard as everyone slowly begins to take their seats. That includes Cassie, who takes a seat in the chair that's facing the cast members. Cassie: Seven months later, the twelve you return to share your experiences for the first time ever to anyone. Of course, after the finale last week, you got the chance to share your success with your friends and family. Duo, as the winner, I'm obligated to start with you. When that episode aired last week, how did you feel? Duo: Relieved. You don't know how much pressure I was under to keep it all a secret. Heero especially. He wouldn't stop pestering me! It got to the point where I had to lie to everyone and say I didn't win. Cassie: (sarcastically) I bet that went over well. Duo: I actually had to spend that night and the next hiding from all of them until they were calm enough to forgive me. Cassie: At least you're here in one piece, and that's what counts. Leaving here will be a different story though, with all of the fangirls around. Duo: Tell me about it. Cassie: Kiyone, you decided to not do something that's probably considered an essential in a reality game show. Forming an alliance. Why? Kiyone: Well, I mentioned it a few times on the footage that made the episodes, but I felt that forming an alliance was useless. After all, when it comes to the final vote, you're forced to backstab someone you've worked with to get there. And I just couldn't do that. Cassie: Do you think you would have won if you were in an alliance? Kiyone: No. Cassie: (raising an eyebrow) Really? Interesting. Kiyone: I don't think it would have made a difference. Cassie: Melfina, this question falls to you since I had to discuss winning with Duo. Why him? Why fall in love with him? Melfina: Duo was kind-hearted, friendly, diligent. I couldn't think of one bad quality that he had at all. Cassie: And it helps that you shared a room for the first three to four weeks, right? Melfina: It wouldn't have matter if I shared a room with a man or a woman. I would have tried to get along with them the same way. Cassie: We'll definitely be talking more about the relationship between you two later, but let's move on. Joey, do you think that because everyone knew you needed the money for your sister's operation that they were willing to vote you into the final four? Joey: I guess it definitely factored into my chances, but I didn't depend on it. I didn't go around pleading people to vote for me because of my situation. Everyone had it in their hearts to vote me into the final four. It's too bad I didn't win in the end, but hey, what can I do about that? Cassie: I think the question you should be asking is what could you have done about that? In the next segment, we reveal all of the numbers! Who voted for whom? Who earned the most money? And later on... we've got another group of twelve who will evaluate these twelve on their performance! Who knows what they'll say? Stay tuned and find out! *************** [Never Before Seen Material - Episode 11: The Love Diaries challenge] Backstage before the show, Keitaro is walking out of the dressing room, wearing the tights. Duo and Bit are stretching out in the hallway, also in their tights. As Keitaro bends over to touch his toes, he hears them rip. Duo and Bit look at Keitaro strangely as he stands back up, places his hands behind him to cover up the tear, and slithers back into the dressing room. ====== The audience is in stitches as Keitaro is now blushing a bright red. Cassie: (laughs) It seems that you keep humiliating yourself at every turn. Keitaro: I can't believe you people actually kept that! Duo: At least everyone now knows the real reason why he was wearing the tutu instead of the tights onstage. Cassie: And honestly, some of us did not want to know. Faye: That was more than I needed to see. Cassie: Alright, I think last year, for the most part, we kept the results of the ballots secret. We're not going to do it this year. The screen on the stage lights up as a 144-square grid appears. The names of the cast members run down the left side of the screen, in alphabetical order. They also run alphabetically at the top of the screen, from left to right. Cassie: In a second, X's will appear on that grid. The X's that appear by your name going across are the people that that person voted for. The X's that appear below a name going down are the people that voted for you to get into the final four. As the X's appear, the voting results are revealed. [Because of the inability to place a chart in a text file, I now present the results in two formats: who each person voted for and who voted for them. (Who They Voted For) - Bit: Duo, Keitaro, Melfina, Roger - Chi-Chi: Duo, Joey, Kiyone, Melfina - Duo: Jeri, Joey, Kiyone, Melfina - Faye: Chi-Chi, Duo, Joey, Kiyone - Jeri: Jessie, Joey, Melfina, Mondo - Jessie: Chi-Chi, Jeri, Melfina, Mondo - Joey: Bit, Jeri, Kiyone, Mondo - Keitaro: Bit, Duo, Melfina, Roger - Kiyone: Chi-Chi, Faye, Joey, Melfina - Melfina: Duo, Jeri, Joey, Kiyone - Mondo: Jeri, Jessie, Kiyone, Melfina - Roger: Bit, Duo, Keitaro, Melfina (Who Voted for Them) - Bit (3): Joey, Keitaro, Roger - Chi-Chi (3): Faye, Jessie, Kiyone - Duo (6): Bit, Chi-Chi, Faye, Keitaro, Melfina, Roger - Faye (1): Kiyone - Jeri (5): Duo, Jessie, Joey, Melfina, Mondo - Jessie (2): Jeri, Mondo - Joey (6): Chi-Chi, Duo, Faye, Jeri, Kiyone, Melfina - Keitaro (2): Bit, Roger - Kiyone (6): Chi-Chi, Duo, Faye, Joey, Melfina, Mondo - Melfina (9): Bit, Chi-Chi, Duo, Jeri, Jessie, Keitaro, Kiyone, Mondo, Roger - Mondo (3): Jeri, Jessie, Joey - Roger (2): Bit, Keitaro] Cassie: I can safely say that there were a few surprises in there, and I'm going to point them out. Let's start with Chi-Chi, who was the only person who accurately picked the final four. We all know that your decision was last minute, so what made you pick those four in particular? Chi-Chi: Cassie, those four have shown qualities that I thought were missing from everyone else in the mansion. They were athletic, they showed determination, they helped out around the house, and they were honest. Those were the grounds for my decision, and I can say I'm happy that I chose those four the way I did. Cassie: Anyone want to respond for or against that? Mondo: I do. (looking down the row) Chi-Chi, why didn't you pick me? Chi-Chi: You and Duo were actually the toss-up. I thought Duo had done more good deeds than you, so I picked him. Duo: So I barely made it among your picks? Chi-Chi nods. Cassie: Faye, why did you check off Chi-Chi's name on the ballot. Faye: She's the strongest person in the house, which rightfully earns her a shot at the money. It's too bad she didn't get it, because I would have voted for her in the end. Cassie: I think it's interesting that you were considering committing to that, because you voted for Kiyone... who in return was the only person to vote for you. Faye: (crossing her arms over her chest) I still refuse to believe that. Cassie: (pointing at the screen) Numbers don't lie, Faye. (to Joey) Joey, Jeri was among your final four ballot picks even though she didn't tell you that she was doing her best to made sure you did get in. What was the reasoning behind that? Joey: Well, in the last week, week and a half, you remember that Bit and I bonded with Jeri after we had gotten to know her. I think we developed respect for her that day. Jeri: You mean you didn't respect me before that? Joey: Not exactly. Jeri: I guess it was because I was acting too much like a kid, right? Joey: Pretty much, yeah. Cassie: We'll cover about what happened to you in Smallville later, Jeri, but let's talk about your plan to get you and Joey in. Why do you think it just half-worked? Jeri: I either wasn't convincing enough or I didn't get to the right people. Chi-Chi picked Joey but didn't pick me. If I would have talked to Bit, he might have gotten me in. But I guess all of my faults came back to haunt me. Cassie: Tenchi told you all that you had to account for all of your actions in the game. Four of you did it better than the rest of the group, and that gave all of you a shot at the grand prize. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and look at how the final vote went. The screen changes to show a smaller chart which lists the names of the eight non-finalists on the left side going down and the four finalists across the top, from left to right, and all in alphabetical order. [Once again, the results in an easy-to-read form, with who voted for whom: - Duo (3): Chi-Chi, Keitaro, Roger - Joey (2): Bit, Jeri - Kiyone (2): Faye, Mondo - Melfina (1): Jessie] Cassie: Melfina, do you find it weird that you got nine votes in the first vote, but when it counted, you only got one? Melfina: I thought it was weird indeed, Cassie. After I found out that I had the most votes, I was sure that it was a sign that I'd be the winner. But it didn't turn out that way. Cassie: I wonder if we can find out why. Roger, why did you vote for Duo? Roger: Duo was always approachable. You could always talk to him and not worry about him turning around and telling your secret to somebody else. I could never be too sure about Joey, Kiyone, and Melfina, so I voted against them. Cassie: Do you agree Keitaro? Keitaro: (surprised) Who, me? Cassie: Yes. According to the chart, you voted for Duo too. Keitaro: Well, I guess it was agreed among our alliance that we would vote for Duo to win. Cassie: Duo did win, as the members of your alliance predicted. But one member didn't vote with you... Cassie glances at Bit, who is trying to hide, but to no avail. Cassie: What made you change your mind and vote for Joey instead of Duo? Bit: As good as Duo was in this game, I wanted to vote for Joey because he was given the chance to get the money for his sister. If Joey wasn't in the final four, I would have voted for Duo. No offense, but I wanted someone who needed the money to get it. Duo: None taken. If I were in your shoes, I would have voted for Joey too. Joey: You would have? Really? Melfina: I think we all would have. Kiyone: That's true. I think you deserved it. Joey: Can I get a recount then? Cassie: Nope. The results are final. Though it was nice to think about what could have been. Just how much money could you have walked away with? Joey: (shrugs his shoulders) Beats me. You gonna tell us? Cassie: (smiles) Of course. Another chart appears on the screen. This time, the names are listed on the left side going down, in descending order according to how much money each person earned. Bars appear, extending until they reach a certain mark. Money amounts then appear above the bars. [One more time, the money totals, from highest to lowest: - Kiyone: $695,000 - *Duo: $655,000* - Jeri: $650,000 - Melfina: $595,000 - Joey: $545,000 - Roger: $480,000 - Keitaro: $475,000 - Chi-Chi: $450,000 - Bit: $440,000 - Mondo: $405,000 - Faye: $345,000 - Jessie: $340,000] Cassie: Of course, Duo's name is highlighted because he won. We did a little better standings-wise in relation to money. Only Kiyone earned more than Duo this time. And if Jeri had paid more attention to herself rather than Joey, the final four really would have consisted of the top four money-getters. Mondo: Hey, how did I score so low? Faye: How did Kiyone get that much money and I got so little? We were roommates! Cassie: I can see a lot of you are surprised and shocked over this. Jessie: Of course! I could have gotten $340,000! Cassie: (sarcastically) Nice to see you set your standards so high. Chi-Chi: I think that we all could have used the money, no matter how much it was. Kiyone: The people who made the right choices in the challenges were the ones that earned the most money. And that's why the final four ended up like it did. Cassie: Is there anyone here who's surprised at how well... or how poorly they did? Jeri: I'm especially surprised. After all of the trouble I had at the beginning, I still can't believe I had the third most! It just makes me wonder what would have happened to me if things had played out differently. Mondo: I'm surprised too! I thought I was doing so well, and I end up coming in third from the bottom! It doesn't make any sense! Melfina: If you didn't spend so much time flirting with Jeri, you would have done better. Mondo: I didn't flirt with Jeri! Jeri: Yes, you did! Mondo: I thought you flirted with me! Jeri: You were the one hitting on me. Mondo: You were the one with the crush! Cassie: Ah yes, the Mondo-Jeri relationship. Friends? Lovers? Fools? We'll find out the truth about their relationship, as well as many others. And later on... we pass out prizes galore! It's all coming up after this! *************** [Never Before Seen Material - Episode 2: Mondo and Jeri's bedroom] Jeri enters the room, fully dressed, when she spots Mondo still snoring away on his bed. Jeri: (putting her hands on her hips) Why are you still in bed at this hour, Mondo? She walks over to the side of Mondo's bed and tries to shake him awake. But after a minute or so, she gives up, knowing that he's not getting up that way. Jeri: Maybe some sunlight will wake him up. She reaches for the blinds and opens them. Sunlight begins to filter into the room and onto to Mondo's face. But he still doesn't wake up. Jeri sighs and sits down on her bed. Jeri: He looks so peaceful. But I have to wake him. I want to do my puppet show for him and the others. Jeri's right hand then touches one of her pillows, which gives her an idea. Smiling, she picks the pillow up, raises it over her head, and whacks Mondo on the head with it. That does manage to make him jump up in surprise. Mondo: Ack! I'm under attack! Jeri: Rise and shine, sleepyhead! ====== We're back in the auditorium, as the crowd applauds with glee. Mondo doesn't look to happy after seeing that clip, though. Mondo: She had an unfair advantage! I was asleep! Jeri: It's too bad I hit you to get you up, not to start a fight with! Cassie: I have to admit, that's one quick yet painful way to get a roommate up. And the clip is quite appropriate because we're heading into our talk about relationships. Why don't we start with you two? Jeri: Do we have to? Mondo: Rockna's here and all, and I bet she's fuming already. Sure enough, Professor Hiragi and Beginner were doing their best to hold Rockna down and keep her from charging the stage. Cassie: Then we'd better get through your relationship quickly. Let's start with that clip. This was a scene that wasn't shown, but was referred to by you two after the puppet show fiasco all the way back on Day 3. Mondo: (to Jessie) Hey, you never apologized to Jeri about that! Jessie: Apologize for throwing out her puppet? Never! Cassie: Could we stay on topic? Anyway, Mondo and Jeri, tell me how you two were feeling when all of that occured? Jeri: Being the youngest ones in the mansion, Mondo and I bonded real well those first few days. We became fast friends, and today we still are. Mondo: We just hit it off at the beginning, though our feelings for each other became more than friendly after about the first week. I guess the constant check-ups by Rockna at the end of the week resulted in a retroactive reaction. Jeri: He means that instead of staying away from me, he ended up being drawn more to me than ever. Cassie: (smiles) Luckily, Jeri had more control of her emotions than Mondo at the time, and anything serious was avoided... for the time being. You two pretty much kept away from the issue for a little over a week. Does the haystack challenge ring a bell? Jeri nods sadly, remembering what happened the day of the challenge. But for the benefit of the people who had forgotten, the exact scene where Jeri is walking away from the challenge field in tears is shown on the big screen. Cassie: Mondo, you were the first to comfort Jeri after the challenge. When you guys got back to the loft in Smallville, what were you thinking when you went to talk to her? Mondo: I didn't want her crying anymore because it made me sad. She was feeling insecure of her place among the group... you know, whether she truly belonged. I went to her, trying to reassure her of her purpose for being there. Chi-Chi: If I may interrupt, at the time she was also at odds with me because I was treating her like my own daughter. And at the time, I hadn't realized that she hated me because of how much I acted like her stepmother. Jessie had the right idea when she told Jeri that I was pushing her to do too much around the mansion. The way she tried to prove it though was unacceptable. Jessie: She learned her lesson, didn't she? Cassie: And ironically enough, the three tensest moments in Mondo and Jeri's relationship were somehow brought about by you, Jessie. Jessie: I was playing the game, alright? Interfering with Mondo and Jeri and their relationship was just an unwanted accessory. Mondo: You call messing with Jeri's mind an unwanted accessory? Jessie: Like I said, I didn't intend to butt in, but I ended up doing so anyway. It's not my fault. Mondo: Throwing her puppet out into the yard. Telling her that she shouldn't have to work as much. Pulling Jeri into your voting alliance! You're telling me that you had no control over any of that? Jeri: Mondo, just let it go. Mondo: But why? Jessie: Because she knows when she's beat! Jeri: (glaring at Jessie) No, it's because in the end, it didn't even matter. You didn't win. I didn't win. Duo did. It's as simple as that. Cassie: Speaking of Duo... Duo: (rolls his eyes) Oh boy... Cassie: Mr. Maxwell, care to discuss your relationship with Melfina? I think first of all, everyone wants to know... did you two ever sleep togehter? Melfina: Once. The crowd gasps in shock. Duo: We just slept. We didn't do anything, okay? Cassie: Okay, so is it safe to assume that your relationship never reached that point? Duo: I'm not the type of person who knows a lot about love, but I think we got to the level of trust typically of a third date. Melfina: We loved to be around each other. We did a lot of play fighting, snuggling, flirting... the usual stuff. Duo: We even kissed a few times. Cassie: Speaking of kisses... Melfina, the kiss that you gave Duo when it was announced that he won... what possessed you to do that? Melfina: I was happy for him. I would have liked to win myself, but I was happier that he did. Duo: If I knew you were going to kiss me Mel, I would have spent that final day petitioning for everyone to vote for me! Melfina reaches over Kiyone's lap and punches Duo lightly in the left leg. Melfina: You're so silly, Duo! Duo: (laughing nervously) Heh... uh, yeah. Cassie: I'm curious. Would you have kissed Melfina if she had won, Duo? Duo: (smiles) If I know Melfina, I'd better say yes or I'd be in a lot of trouble. (everyone on stage laughs) So I'll say yes. Keitaro: I wish I was that lucky. Cassie: Maybe you were, Keitaro. I remember a few episodes from the end, you suddenly had fallen in love with Kiyone. And may I add that there are plenty of people who had wished they were in your position. Keitaro: (putting his hand behind his head) It was a silly crush, nothing more. Cassie: Believe it or not, the roots of this relationship also goes back to the first few days in the mansion. Do you remember this? The exact scene is played on the big screen. Screaming is heard from the basement as Keitaro runs up the stairs, wearing only his glasses and a towel around his waist. Dripping water and sweat as he runs, he accidentally knocks Mondo down as he turns for the second floor. Kiyone is then heard yelling as she then appears on the screen, dripping wet and wearing nothing but a towel as well. The film then stops. Keitaro and Kiyone are now both blushing after seeing the scene. Keitaro: Trust me, I'd like to forget it. Cassie: Oh really? It took you almost a full month before something clicked in your head and told you, 'Hold on... Kiyone's hot!' Keitaro: I did NOT think that! Kiyone: I'm kinda surprised he didn't think that sooner. Cassie: And even when you did realize that you liked her that way, it took you almost an entire week to actually get the courage to tell her! Keitaro: We kept getting interrupted... Mel. Melfina: (gasps) I didn't even know you were going to propose your love. Keitaro: (freaking out) What? Duo: I think Mel meant profess, right? Melfina: Oh, right. Profess. What did I say? Cassie: Anyway, Keitaro finally got his chance... and then you shot him down, Kiyone. Why? Kiyone: Because I wasn't in love with him. We all know that. It was on the tape. Besides, his feelings weren't genuine. Keitaro: What do you mean they weren't genuine? Kiyone: You were seducing me because Bit and Roger told you to! Keitaro: They did, but I really did like you. Honest! Cassie: If you had any brains, you probably would have skipped the part about the plan. I guess that explains why you haven't gotten into Tokyo University here yet. Keitaro: Hey! The host isn't supposed to insult the guest! Cassie: I didn't want, but I felt you deserved it. (winks) Honest! Keitaro: Now you're mocking me! Cassie: (coughing) Anyway... what about Roger and Faye? Roger and Faye cross their arms over their chests and face the other way. Cassie: Okay Roger, why did you hit on Faye? Roger: (pointing at Faye) Look at her? If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you? A good number of the men agree with Roger, which is shown by their cheers. Faye: And that's exactly why I turned him down everytime. I didn't want him lusting over me for six weeks. Roger: I wasn't going to lust over you! Faye: (rolls her eyes) Whatever. Cassie: But Roger wouldn't stop flirting. Even when Chi-Chi stepped in, he continued to eye you up. Roger: I was not eyeing her up! Cassie: Then please tell everyone what you really were doing. Roger: Well, I felt that Faye was the type of girl that needed pampering, so I wanted to prove to her that I was more than happy to help. Faye: (glaring at Roger) How you were helping? By stalking me twenty-four seven? Roger: (glaring at Faye) I was not stalking you! Cassie: Faye, stop putting words in people's mouths. Roger: Maybe some people should follow their own advice. Cassie: Are you accusing me of putting words in your mouth? Roger: Saying that I was eyeing her up! Not once did I do that! Faye: You could have been doing that and no one could have noticed. Roger: Why would I want to be in love with a tempermental girl like you? Faye: So now you don't like me? Roger: What, do you want to be liked? Cassie: That's just what you want to her to think, isn't it? Roger: There you go again! Stop it! Cassie: I'm not doing anything wrong, okay? Chi-Chi: (standing up) All of you, stop it this instant! This has gotten way out of control! Roger and Faye turn away from each other once again. Cassie turns towards the nearest camera. Cassie: (sighs) Okay, I need a break to gather myself again. I swear, you two are hear just to annoy me. Roger: (turning towards Cassie) You did it again! Cassie: (sighs again) Um... question-and-answer period is up next! Maybe the questions that the audience asks will turn the attention away from me for awhile. Sheesh. *************** [Never Before Seen Material - Episode 17: Miniature Golf] Kiyone, Keitaro, and Mihoshi are playing miniature golf at a nearby park. They're at the tee on the 15th hole and it's Mihoshi's turn. In front of her is a giant Godzilla-like figure that has a small hole under his left foot. Kiyone and Keitaro are waiting on the other side, having already hit their tee shots. Mihoshi prepares to swing her club at her yellow golf ball. Mihoshi: (yelling out loud) Five! Kiyone: For the last time Mihoshi, it's... Before Kiyone could say 'fore,' Mihoshi hits the ball right at the reptile's metal stomach, sending it ricocheting back at her! The ball hits her in the head, knocking her to the ground. Kiyone and Keitaro immediately run over to help her. Keitaro: Mihoshi? Kiyone: I can't believe you did that! Mihoshi: (a bit dazed) Do I get a penalty stroke for that? Kiyone: Just be lucky you didn't give me a stroke. ====== Inside the auditorium, the camera is pointed right at where the 'Tenchi Muyo' cast is sitting. Actually, it's directed towards Mihoshi, who's happily flailing her arms around like a chicken. She's being shown on the big screen too, so when Kiyone sees it, she starts growling angrily. Kiyone: (mumbling) Just ignore her and everything we'll be fine. Mihoshi: Look Kiyone, I'm on TV! Kiyone jumps out of her seat and starts yelling at the top of her lungs. Kiyone: MIHOSHI! We're doing a show here! Mihoshi stops what she's doing and slowly sinks back into her seat. As Kiyone starts breathing heavily from all of the anger she's just let out, Duo and Melfina help her sit back down. Cassie: (sweatdrops) Okay, maybe showing that clip wasn't the best idea. Keitaro: I had so much fun that night! Whenever Kiyone wasn't shouting at Mihoshi that is. Kiyone turns around and glares right at Keitaro. Keitaro: (gulps) I think I'll shut up now. Cassie: Speaking of shutting up, I'm going to for awhile! Jessie: Good. About time that mouth of yours stopped flapping. Cassie: (gritting her teeth) If we weren't on the same show... Jessie: But we are technically, so deal with it. Cassie: (getting her nerves together) Before the show, we had one friend or family member for each of you tell us what they thought of your performances. I have to admit, some of their responses are pretty surprising. Jessie: It's also pretty surprising that I haven't walked over and shut your trap myself! Chi-Chi: Jessie! Mind your manners! Jessie: This is between me and Dorothy, okay? Melfina: But her name's Cassie, not Dorothy! Cassie: Just roll the tape already! ====== Three hours earlier, we see Mimi Tachikawa standing outside the auditorium, dressed in a larger, modified version of her Season 1 outfit, minus the hat. Mimi: I'm out here on the campus of Tokyo University! Our Roomies finally get to tell all of their stories tonight! But I wonder... what did their friends and family think of their performance? I did my own little survey and this is what I came up with. [R. Dorothy Wainwright -- Roger Smith] Dorothy: Roger's a negotiator for a living, so why couldn't he negotiate a deal to win? A poor performance from Roger. He should have been able to adapt to the game easily. [Jet Black -- Faye Valentine] Jet: I can't believe Faye even did this in the first place! The one lone vote she got at the end showed that from day one she didn't stand a chance. She should have stuck to bounty hunting. [Rika Nonaka -- Jeri Katou] Rika: Jeri should've been there at the end. They all should have forgiven her for her actions in Smallville and given her a chance at the money. She worked harder than anyone else there. Especially more than a certain redhead... [Leena Toros -- Bit Cloud] Leena: Give me a break! I could have won this game with my hands tied behind my back! Bit doesn't know a thing about strategy! Why we let him remain leader of the team is a mystery to me! [Yugi Mutou -- Joey Wheeler] Yugi: I remember Joey being sad when he came back after the game was over. And now I know why. That girl Jeri performed an honorable act, giving him a chance to win the money for his sister. If I get a chance to meet her tonight, I'd like to thank her personally. [Gohan Sonn -- Chi-Chi Sonn] Gohan: Mom, you did great! Not everyone agreed with the way you ran things around the mansion, but at least they gave you a chance to get to know you. Probably not enough to win the game, but at least you showed them that you wanted to be their friend as well as their mother. Mother figure, that is. [Gene Starwind -- Melfina] Gene: Mel, you were awesome! It's too bad that you didn't win, because I knew you deserved it. I couldn't have done it better myself. [Rockna Hiragi -- Mondo Ooya] Rockna: After finding out about all of that flirting you did with Jeri, I was so mad! But I kinda backed off after seeing that you were both doing your best to avoid the two of you getting together. But that doesn't mean you're off the hook! [James -- Jessie] James: I can't believe how they treated you! Team Rocket is the most evil organization in the world! They didn't show you an ounce of respect! They will pay for that! [Naru Narusegawa -- Keitaro Urashima] Naru: Keitaro, you pervert! I can't believe all the things you did! Don't you have any decency? You deserved everything you got there! [Tenchi Masaki -- Kiyone Makibi] Tenchi: I know it felt weird with me being the host and you being one of the contestants, but you didn't let any of that stop you. Statistically, you did do the best in the game. It would have been nice if you had won, regardless of what may have happened because of it. [Heero Yuy -- Duo Maxwell] Heero: (after a brief silence) Mission complete. ====== The tape ends, and on stage there's a mixed bag of reactions from the competitors. Some feel empowered by their acquaintance's words, while others feel down and disappointed. Some of the comments had freaked them out, but other comments had gotten them angry. Leaving the stage for a second, Mimi appears in the fan section of the auditorium, which is basically the 21st row and back. She has a microphone in hand and is walking around the collection of anime authors. Mimi: While our competitors contemplate those confessionals... and Cassie gets a much-needed break, it's time to hear some questions from the audience! Anyone have something they're dying to ask our cast members? Mimi starts by walking over to young female author Digifan. Digifan: I have two questions. My first is to Duo. What are you going to do with the money? On stage, Duo looks out into the audience and towards Digifan to answer her question. Duo: Well, I'm going to use some of the money to help pay for some overdue expenses at my salvage shop. As for the rest... frankly, I haven't a clue. Digifan: Okay. And my second questions is for all of the Roomies. Do any of you plan to stay in touch after this? Jeri: I think it's safe to say Mondo and I will be talking with each other a lot for a long time to come. Mondo: I agree. We live so close to each other, so I guess it's natural. Bit: Joey and I have been trying to keep in touch, but it's so hard because we're in different universes and all. Mimi: (to the Roomies) Anyone else? No one else on stage decides to respond. Mimi: Are you guys really that sick of seeing each other? (shakes her head) Who's next? Digifan sits down as Mimi runs over to CHROMUS, another author from England. Mimi: Wow, we've got a fellow reality fanfic author in the house! What's your question? Chromus: I guess mine's similar to Digifan's... but this is for Duo and Mel. Will you two see each other again, especially after what happened? Melfina: I would love to see Duo again! Duo: I'd say the same for Mel. But I'd want us to meet as friends and nothing more. As CHROMUS sits down, Mimi sees another hand a few rows back. She trots back there and holds the microphone in front of Arpulver. Mimi: You're here too? Wow! Another famous reality fanfic author! Arpulver: This is for Jeri. If you had another opportunity to do this over again, would you have still competitively worked towards alliances or would you have been more passive about the game? Jeri thinks for a few seconds before giving her answer. Jeri: I probably would have been a lot more passive as I had been most of the game. My goal was to get both Joey and myself into the finals. I only succeeded in getting Joey in, though I realize now that if I would have told both him and Mondo about my plan, I probably would have gotten in. But I would have been satisfied staying away from alliances and letting my actions decide whether I should have won the game or not. Mimi: (blinks) I'm impressed. She gave that long of an answer? Mimi sees another hand raised a few rows further back. She heads up there and meets Michael Segekihei. Segekihei: Duo, what challenge did you think would have cost you the game if you hadn't won? Duo: I have to say the challenge where we had to solve all of those puzzles to get those keys. Mondo and I did so terrible in that challenge. We didn't spend enough time thinking, which was a fatal mistake. Coming in in last place in that challenge shook me up too, because I didn't do well in any of the challenges from that point on. Mimi: We have time for one more. Mimi sees another hand and runs down to fetch the person it belonged to. This time, it was Ryan MacDonald. Ryan: I actually have several questions. Mimi: (tapping her foot) Well, pick two! We don't have all night. Mimi then recognizes the author in front of her. Mimi: It's you! The one who asked Madison all of those questions last year! Ryan: I'm sorry if I got you mad, but she deserved to win that competition. Mimi: If Madison was here, I'd challenge her to another karaoke duel here and now! Ryan: Hold on! Just because I said she deserved to win doesn't mean that I hated your singing. Mimi: (brightening up) You mean you liked it? Ryan: You sang pretty well too. Mimi: (smiles) Okay, I forgive you! Let's just get to your questions before we run out of time. Ryan: Fine. Chi-Chi, I want to know why you picked on Jeri and Mondo when you were pushing for the room switch between those two and Duo and Melfina. Chi-Chi: I did it for their own good. I was especially more wary of Jeri and Mondo because I was afraid that Duo and Melfina would do something that they'd see as appropriate when it wasn't. Duo: Why Chi-Chi would think Melfina and I would do something like that is a mystery to me. Chi-Chi: You're both teenagers! That's what teenagers do! Duo: I understand the whole 'kids follow those older than themselves to know what is right' deal, but assuming that Mel and I would actually 'sleep' together is a bit of a stretch. Melfina: Right. We would have never shared a room if we thought doing so would force us to explore our sensual feelings. Chi-Chi: I'm sorry for accusing you two, but as a mother of a teenager myself, I have to assume the worst as a precaution. Mondo: In my opinion, I think I would've preferred what she did over not doing anything at all. The four of us needed it straighten our priorities out. Melfina: Not me. Mondo: Well.. the three of us. Mimi: Ryan, anything else? Ryan: Jessie, why did you continually act like a jerk? Jessie: (jumping up, outraged) I did not act like a jerk! For the last time, I was playing the game! Roger: I don't think you were a jerk. You were actually more of a... Chi-Chi: (covering Roger's mouth) I think we get the idea. Jessie: I can't believe all of you are against me! Joey: See? That's what happens when you're trying to win for evil. Good always comes out a winner! Kiyone: You stole that from a book, didn't you? Joey: Borrowed, Kiyone. Borrowing and stealing are two different things. Mimi: I hate to interrupt Joey, but we've run out of time for this segment. Ryan: But I want to ask one more question! Mimi: After this short break, we hit the homestretch! We've got these two lovely Honda Passports outside in the parking lot that need to be given away! Ryan: Mimi, the question is for you! Mimi: (stops) For me? Well then, ask away! Ryan: In Smallville, when Keitaro accidentally touched your leg, why did you act like he did it on purpose even though it was clearly an accident? Mimi: (angry) You call grabbing my skirt an accident? Keitaro: It was, I swear! Voice 1: You pervert! Voice 2: Urashima! Keitaro gulps as he sees both Naru and Motoko, who had her sword drawn, both running towards the stage. Keitaro: (jumping up) What did I do now? He runs off stage as Naru and Motoko give chase. Naru: Come back here! Motoko: Secret Technique! Rock Splitting Sword! Keitaro can be heard screaming in the background. Meanwhile, two audience members were keeping Mimi from strangling Ryan to death. Mimi: How can you call that an accident? How you would feel if someone touched you like that? Cassie walks back on stage, only to see the chaos that has erupted. Cassie: Somebody cut to commercial! Figures... I knew I couldn't leave a Digidestined in charge. *************** [Quick Comparison Charts] Average amount of money earned by the four finalists in each Roomies: - Roomies 1: Boys' Edition - $396,250 - Roomies 1: Girls' Edition - $425,000 - Roomies 2: Country Living - $622,500 Highest amount earned by the top person in each Roomies: - Roomies 1: Boys' Edition - $460,000 by TK Takashi - Roomies 1: Girls' Edition - $545,000 by Sakura Avalon - Roomies 2: Country Living - $695,000 by Kiyone Makibi Amount of money that each winner took home: - Roomies 1: Girls' Edition - $345,000 by Kari Kamiya - Roomies 1: Boys' Edition - $460,000 by TK Takashi - Roomies 2: Country Living - $655,000 by Duo Maxwell ====== Things are back under control in the auditorium as the twelve Roomies are sitting in their chairs once again. Cassie has returned as well, having recovered from the segment before the previous one. There are a bunch of packages next to Cassie's chair, each containing the prizes that were won during the game. Cassie: The numbers from this season are staggering compared to last year's, but you can honestly blame that on the addition of the roommate challenges. They enabled the Roomies to have more chances at earning money. But it's not just about the money. The game also consisted of prize challenges in which all of you competed for prizes. Today, you'll receive the ones that you won. She reaches for the first box and hands it to Mondo. Cassie: We'll start with Mondo, the lone winner of the Sony D-CJ01 CD Walkman CD and MP3 player, valued at $130. Next up are three envelopes, which she gives to Duo, Faye, and Kiyone. Cassie: Duo, Faye, and Kiyone are getting a Nike gift certificate, valued at $400. The next two boxes Cassie pull out are intended for Joey and Melfina. Cassie: For Joey and Melfina... the Sony Ericcson T68 cell phone, as promised! That's valued at nearly $600. The prizes start getting bigger now, as Cassie reaches for a Playstation 2 box and two packages with it. Cassie: Chi-Chi, you were the lucky winner of the Sony Playstation 2 prize package, which totals altogether $1000! There are no more packages left, but Cassie points to the large screen to show off the other prizes. First is a giant television. Cassie: Chi-Chi also won the 36" Sony Wega Flat-Screen TV, valued at close to $2000! Boy, you're going home with a lot. And then the picture changes to the parking lot, where two SUVs are parked... one blue, the other green. Cassie: And let's not forget the biggest prize of all! The Honda Passport LX for Joey and Kiyone. Set up to your specifications as you requested, you can drive home with it today. Well, Kiyone can at least. Someone has to drive it home for you Joey... you're not old enough to drive yet. The Roomies who got prizes are ecstatic with what they received. Cassie: (smiles) I didn't forget about you Duo. But for safekeeping, we'll wait 'til after the show to give you the check. Duo nods. Cassie then looks at Bit, Jeri, Jessie, Keitaro, and Roger, who are all empty-handed before smiling. Cassie: This is supposed to be the part when I feel sorry for those of you who are walking out of here with nothing. But I can't. Because... To everyone's surprise, Survivor Globie and Anderson Cooper walk out on stage with a dozen giant checks. The whole group is excited, though all of them don't remember what they did to deserve them. Cassie: About a month and half ago, you twelve went to the island of Pararakerus and won a challenge against the cast members of Anime Survivor 4. In all of the haste to return home after the luau that evening, no one remembered to take the check with them. Anderson: Luckily, we have it hear with us. Globie: In twelve equal pieces anyway. On behalf of Anime Survivor Inc., I, Survivor Globie, proudly award each of the cast members of Roomies a check for $20,850. Anderson: Congratulations to you all. You've earned it. As the two hosts start passing out the checks, the group is rejoicing happily. Jessie: Yeah! I'll never have to scrap for food again! Keitaro: This'll help towards paying off my prep school tuition. Faye: Finally! I've worked so hard for this! Joey: Maybe now my sister will be able to get that operation! The celebration continues as Cassie looks on. Cassie: (to the audience) We've still got one more surprise in store! And it's next, right after we take our final break! *************** [Selected Results from the Roomies 2 Poll in September 2002] Who is your favorite host of the series? - Tenchi Masaki: 45% - Layla McKenzie: 41% - Professor Samuel Oak: 8% - Mimi Tachikawa: 4% Who is your favorite character of Roomies 2? Cassie: I wonder why I wasn't on that list of favorite hosts? Maybe it's because I only host the reunion special. She shrugs her shoulders as she points to the video screen behind her. Cassie: Oh well. Remember that one final surprise I mentioned before the break? Well, I brought up the whole favorite host thing because your favorite host, Tenchi Masaki, is on location for this little sneak preview of Roomies 3! Take a look! ====== All is dark until the sound of train chugging along the tracks is heard in the background. Trailmon: Whoo whoo! Darkness becomes light as the Trailmon exits a tunnel and heads for a nearby station. Inside one of the Trailmon's cars is Tenchi Masaki. Tenchi: The Digital World is a mysterious place. In the past, only a select group of human children have been allowed to enter this mysterious universe. It is home to a bunch of creatures called Digimon, which is short for Digital Monsters. They come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities: small or large, rotund or square, friendly or nasty. Move to several shots of the fourth Digimon season version of the Digiworld, which includes looks at several different villages inhabited by Digimon of all kinds. Tenchi: (VO) This winter, sixteen anime characters will gather here in the Digiworld to face a challenge unlike any offered by the previous seasons before. We're now looking at a forest area just west of one of the Digimon villages. Tenchi: (VO) For the first time ever, these sixteen will be left in an area habited only by Digimon. They must find a way to construct a shelter, keep any wild Digimon away, and of course, survive any arguments with their fellow competitors. Silhouettes appear on the screen to mimic the different sizes and shapes of the competitors themselves. Tenchi: (VO) Just like the Digimon, this group of sixteen promises to be the most vastly different than any other before them. Young and old, big and small, human or not, they'll all be after the same goal. Winning up to one million dollars in cash. A group of Mushroomon run past the camera, throwing their Giggle Grenades all over the place. Tenchi: (VO) Although they will be given enough supplies to last the full six weeks, the sixteen Roomies must ration it all carefully and keep Digimon from running away with it at the same time. We then move to a shot of a raging river that's located nearby. Tenchi: (VO) There will be a whole new set of challenges, many of which will put to the test every physical and mental aspect of their bodies. Next is a picture of the sun setting in the background over some train tracks. Tenchi: (VO) New rules, new challenges, new life experiences... and new surprises. They all await the new cast's arrival. Tenchi is now at one of the stations, with the Trailmon behind him. Tenchi: 'Roomies 3: Digital Frontier.' Winter 2003 at Fanfiction.net! (laughs) Ha! Who would have thought taking it up a notch would be so much fun? Tenchi then gets into the Trailmon, which then pulls out of the station. ====== Cassie is standing on center stage with a microphone in hand. Cassie: If you ask me, that sounds like Survivor on steroids. I don't know about living out there, trying to create a human civilization among one filled with Digimon. I wouldn't go near that place even if I had to. Mimi: (off-screen) Because it's related to the Digimon TV show? Mimi walks onto the stage, also with a microphone in hand. Mimi: I only agree with you because I wouldn't want to be stuck in the Digiworld that long. Trust me, I know first hand! Cassie: Any idea who might get stuck out there with Tenchi? Mimi: Just as long as it's not anyone from Hamtaro. Cassie: Why's that? Mimi: Because they're cuteness will just sicken everyone! Cassie: I see. The two young girls then turn their attention to Duo. Mimi: As the winner, you get the last word for the Roomies. Anything you would like to say? Duo: Whomever ends up in the Digital World better be prepared for anything. He then points at Jeri and Mondo. Duo: These two had to step it up to be competitive in Okayama. Imagine what it's going to take to survive out there. If you apply for to go there, you'd better know what you're getting into! Mimi: Why anyone would want to spend six weeks there is beyond me. Cassie: For everyone here in Tokyo, I'm Cassie Banks! Mimi: And I'm Mimi Tachikawa! Cheers! Cassie: We're signing off from Tokyo University! See you this winter in the Digital World! Cassie and Mimi wave goodbye as the Roomies cast gets a standing ovation from the entire crowd. Additional Author's Notes: Well, the end has arrived... for now! Let's see, we started in April and now it's October... six months! It lasted as long as the first season, which was also just over six months. I came into this thinking that it would take four to five months only. But things never seem to work out the way they are supposed to, do they? Congratulations to Duo Maxwell for his win. First-ever Gundam character to win a major reality series fanfic, to my knowledge. For the author questions, I threw out questions that had already been asked by Cassie, any directed to the hosts (with one exception), and one that was inappropriate slightly and not suitable for use. Everyone who submitted a question got at least one in the special, so you should all be happy. As voted by you, the fans, there will be a third installment of Roomies, and it will be in a fictional location. The Digital World. I have yet to choose a specific location, as I'm waiting for the perfect area to present itself in the fourth season of Digimon, airing now in the U.S. and Canada. I am already promising a lot of stuff not seen in the first two seasons. Being out in the wild, forced to create their own shelter. New challenges that will test them thoroughly. New rules designed to improve the flow of the game. And new surprises that no one could ever guess. Tenchi will be the host once again, as I have decided after unable to find someone else to do the job. But you guys all love Tenchi, so it shouldn't be a problem at all. A tentative cast has already been decided upon, but it is by no means final. Several shows/characters may be switched in and out if I find somebody I want in the show. But I am open to suggestions! You never know... you might suggest a character I didn't think of putting in that might actually be perfect. The cast of sixteen is completely top secret though, and no one, under any circumstances, will be allowed to know the identities of the cast members until the show's premiere. As I did at the end of last season, I will tell you that there will be author cameos next season, but to not ask about them right now. When we approach the start, information regarding how to get a cameo application will be announced then and there. Anyone who asks about getting one before that time will be ignored completely, so don't even think about getting a jump on the competition! 'Roomies 3: Digital Frontier' begins this winter!
